Magic ~ All of Renell's magic is wordless, despite the fact that she was one of the Grey folk who bound it to the ancient language. Most of her magic takes very little energy from her, as one of the few things she remembers from that time taught her how to use magic without losing a lot of energy. She remembers a lot of magic from that time, but has forgotten most of it. Therefore she tries her hardest to learn more magic to replace what she's lost.
Freeze: Renell can make things stop in motion without using magic, or losing energy. The downside is that she can only stop the tiniest dragons, and the weaker of all the other races. Although Renell is very good at magic, and rarely uses words with it, she prefers to use Freeze to magic. She can like Morena use her mind in many ways, but her favorite, and most developed thing is Freeze. She can enter dreams, and she can use Freeze while in one. It's an interesting ability at times. Sometimes she goes into the dream world, and freezes people for the fun of it, and they don't know why they can't move. This is all something of the mind, which she is very strong in, as she has to be as she has been a shade for a very long time.

Race: - Shade. She's a spirit of one of the long dead Grey folk. She now has a human body.

Siblings: - Morena is like a sister to her, but no real ones that she knows of.

Character Personality: Renell is nearly the opposite of her friend Morena--who was once her host--in a lot of things. She is the same in a few areas, like never looking on the bad things of life, and always the good. She will make jokes on others, and enjoys them being made on her. Renell is someone who is often called cheerful, despite the fact that she is a shade. The only time she isn't cheerful is when a close friend or host dies. Renell enjoys the company of both people and animals, and hates not being around them. Renell is also death on child, animal, or slave abuse, although she has no problem with proper punishment. Renell hates slavery, and slavers, and whenever she can she hunts them down. Renell is always looking for more friends wherever she goes. Renell is a great role-model for children, and is often given as an example of how they should behave. Renell never seems to stop teasing her friends, or playing match-maker. It can be annoying at times, but it is always a source of amusement for her friends. There are times when Renell is "Little-miss-perfect" and no fault can be found with her, but that is rare. She rarely looks down on people despite the special things she knows how to do. Because she used to be one of the Grey folk, that forgot much of what she once knew, Renell is eager to learn anything. She is always willing to please, and like her dragon, Random, is often called the perfect student. Renell studies magic hard, and whatever else her teachers tell her. She never reveals to any, except her closest friends that she was once one of the Grey folk. It is too embarrassing for her to explain her memory loss, and not being able to do as much magic as she used to.

Character History: Renell remembers little of what happened a hundred years ago, much less thousands of years ago. All she remembers is what Random has told her. What Renell remembers best is being a Shade, and finding new hosts. She remembers doing that for thousands of years.
There is a small part of Renell's past that she remembers. Binding magic to the ancient language. At that time the world changed, and all she knew, and loved was destroyed. Renell herself died from the vast amount of energy she used to help with the spell, but she didn't die completely like a handful of the other Grey folk. She became a Shade, and soon she began forgetting her past, except for the binding of magic. Something that tormented her forever after.
Renell never tried to control without permission, unless her host could do absolutely nothing, and she always asked nicely. Once she attached herself to the mind of a leviathan when she had no host, and waited for someone to touch it's mind. Someone did. And that someone was Morena. Renell found it difficult having Morena as her host. They were completely opposite in personality, and often had arguments. Still they became inseparable friends, even after Renell found her new host.
Morena had been traveling when she found a badly wounded elf by the side of the road. Despite her hate for them she allowed Renell to convince her to care for the elf woman. Renell knew that the elf would die if something wasn't done, and entered her mind. Shortly after the elf died, but Renell lived on with a body of her own. She and Morena then departed ways.
Renell began traveling around, and soon found herself on Vroengard, looking at a statue Morena had once shown her. She picked up the stone egg, and as soon as she did the stone, and the egg inside broke completely, and before she knew it she was the rider of a dragon who's mind she had felt before, once a long time ago.
She tried to think of a name that the hatchling liked, and the only thing she came up with was Random.
After that Renell went searching through ruined statues until she found a rider's sword called Fryn Rakr. And Renell's days as a rider began.

Character's Physical Description: Renell can see in the dark and her eyes glow in it. Her eyes give the appearance of years beyond number, while her body appears youthful, as it was before the Grey folk bound magic to the ancient language. She is as pale as someone dead, making any scars impossible to see on her. Renell wears shades of red and black, and would never wear anything different, even for a disguise. Renell's hair reaches to her waist, and she usually wears it in a braid. Renell is ambidextrous despite the fact that she doesn't use her sword very much. She has a heart shaped face, with almond shaped eyes. She is often called beautiful, despite her hair color, most people can't recognize her as a Shade. She is exactly 5'2 ft. tall, and perfectly shaped. She is also very feminine looking. She can't pretend to be a boy.

History: Random's egg was laid long before elves had come to Alagaesia, and only Grey folk, and dragons were around--In fact his egg was one of the very first to be laid. When his egg was first laid he felt a desire to be a partner with one of the Grey folk he felt nearby--who happened to be Renell before she died and became a Shade. But it didn't happen. Renell left, and Random's egg remained unhatched.
Years passed. So many passed that they were impossible to number. Still Random remained in his egg, and learned--much like an Eldunari. After many years he felt the life of most, if not all the Grey folk disappear as living beings. He could still feel the presences of some of their spirits, but no more.
Eventually Elves came, and fought the dragons, and then came the peace, and the time of the dragon riders, and Random prepared to hatch. His egg was presented to many, but none of them was Renell. Finally they gave up on his egg, and set it as a statue on Vroengard, with the story of how it had lasted longer than any other known egg.
Finally Random felt Renell again, but he didn't hatch because her host, Morena, was in control. Later Renell found another host who died shortly after she took over, and Renell returned to Vroengard. As soon as Random felt Renell's hand on his egg, he hatched, and bonded with her. The one he had longed to be bonded with for many long ages.

Personality: Random is as cheerful as his rider, and loves making jokes, and having them made on him. He loves riddles, and is very good at solving them. Like his rider he hates slavery, and desires to see all slavers die, and slaves free. Random loves children of all kinds, and would never harm it--even if it was a fawn, or something else edible. He prefers to only eat grown animals for several reasons. Random always respects his elders--well all except for Renell that is--and listens eagerly to what they have to say. Whenever he is being taught something he obeys his teacher(s) to the best of his ability, and is always getting called a great student.

Colour: - Gray as stone. His eyes are purple.

Appearance: Random isn't very big as he is only about a year old, but he his strong enough for Renell to ride him. He is about as tall as a large draft horse (18 hands [6 ft.]) at the base of his neck. Because he is shaped differently than other dragons, normal dragon saddles can't fit on him, and Renell had to make a different kind that would. He looks exactly like the picture above. His feet are webbed--except the claws--making it easy for him to run through muddy areas, where other dragons would have trouble.
