 Ramoth and her rider, why did they Between in time?Why did that one girl go Between in time to get the other riders from 400 yrs ago in the first place? If she had left them there, wouldn't they have been there anyway without her going to get them? Something else happened that made her go back in the first place....

It was Lessa who went back in time to bring the Dragon riders of old to help her generation fight Thread which had not been seen for 400 years. She went back in time because there were not enough dragons and riders to fight the thread and Pern was in danger of total annihilation.
