Forced Sides
Attempt of a RP, me n Rider of Death.
During times of war, the world as you know becomes chaotic. Even the defined lines of friends and foes become blurred. The natural order of things becomes nothing but a dream. War is a curious thing, it just seem inevitable... as if it's basic instinct. Yet the goals and outcomes are purely thought processed. Regardless.. it just seems to be a never ending cycle.
.............
Perhaps I'm just over thinking it. Kuja stretched himself as he sat atop his silver-white dragon, Selris. The pair were flying over the Beors, near the southern edge of Surda. "You know, it would have been simpler if we teleported out here." Selris merely snorted. Rarely do I get to stretch my wings with you around Kuja. Also, I have no attraction to the dark realms like you do. "Heh, how dull. Well I guess why that we make good partners then. We balance each other out. Just let me know when we get there, I grow bored."

Re: Forced Sides
“Isn’t it ironic that the smallest creatures are the most vicious?” said Jareth in a lazy tone. He sat, back against the warm stone wall of the mountain, facing a bound and gagged elderly dwarf. The shade reached up and brushed a loose strand of hair from his eyes, pursed his lips slightly, and continued the intense study of his guest.
“For such a sagacious and world-worn dwarf you were certainly easy to catch.” Jareth savored the term ‘sagacious’ as it rolled off his tongue – it was a fine word. He noted the frenzied movements of the dwarf as it tried to wriggle free from its bonds; it was most likely attempting to attack him rather than flee. “Ah, the age old goals of revenge and freedom – it’s strange, your kinds’ obsession with them. A life in chains for ones so weak would be much…simpler, don’t you agree? Leave the freedom and revenge to those with power?” The shade grinned savagely.
Jareth sat silent for many moments, listening to the dwarfs low grunts, then stood slowly and stretched his arms. He ran his right hand through his hair, and slid his pale, thin dagger from its sheath with his left. He walked lightly to where the dwarf lay bound; and the creature ceased its struggling as Jareth came towards it. It was content with glaring, for the moment. “Then again,” said the shade, his tone now mocking, “I suppose your ceaseless strivings make things more interesting, at least.” He squatted next to the dwarf, balancing his weight on his toes, and casually placed the tip of the dagger on the dwarf’s neck. He narrowed his eyes in thoughtfulness, and then pressed the metal ever so slightly into the creature’s flesh.
The skin around the small incision smoked, then began to sizzle; the dwarf began to utter a low, loud moan of pain that slowly began to rise in pitch. Jareth concentrated. As the poison from his dagger began to eat away at the dwarf’s neck, he extended a thin tendril of magic towards the spot and began to neutralize the poison. He isolated it as it spread through the dwarf’s veins, working against the speed of his special concoction; and as he isolated it, he recited a second line of words in the Ancient Language to render the poison ineffective. He wove the two threads of magic together in a soft, plaintive song; and after two minutes of this, working his utmost to slow down, cut off, and finally deaden the poison, he snuffed out the last of it. The shade sat back and considered the still-moaning dwarf.
“I’ve decided to release you,” he announced, and cut the dwarfs bonds. “Be on your way.” The creature immediately sprang to its feet to attack Jareth, slipped on a loose stone, and fell heavily to the ground where its skull cracked open against a jagged rock.
A quizzical look passed over the shade’s face. He was about to say something bitingly sarcastic to the dwarf’s corpse, but then noticed a strange shadow float along the mountain rock. His eyes shot upward, and he caught sight of a smallish silver dragon soaring above the Beors. Jareth’s eyebrows rose. A silver dragon? He had certainly never heard of one; but his eyes were not mistaken. He slipped his dagger back into its sheath and picked up his small travel satchel.
Jareth broke into a dead sprint and began following the dragon as best he could through the mountains. This is bound to be more interesting than a suicidal dwarf, the shade thought to himself. He left said dwarf to rot.

Re: Forced Sides
"Hm?" Kuja opened his eyes, he had just laid himself back to relax and just moments after something caught his attention. Well now this is interesting... it's faint, but I can feel something down below. Not only that, it seems to be following us as well. The shade sat himself up.
Selris kept a steady pace as he flew. The silver-white dragon could sense it as well, just in a different manner. I smell something... a two-leg's whose scent is similar to Kuja, he reeks of darkness. Selris kept that thought to himself, but then reached out to his partner. Never thought I would see an unbound shade roaming about.
"The fool king was probably just careless." Kuja chuckled lightly, "We are unbound too you know." Selris snorted. Only because you agreed to serve him willingly. "Perhaps. Ultimately just a means to an end my companion. While I do plan to attain all knowledge and power that this existence can offer, we are still not strong enough to face him. Plus it won't just be him we need to worry about... he has plenty of soulbound servants at his disposal." The shade ran a hand through his hair. "I digress... let's not dwell on something that is a long way off. How about we introduce ourselves then? It's a rarity to meet another of my kind, I'm quite curious."
Selris began to descend, a clearing caught the dragon's eye and tilted towards it. As they got lower they continued to pick up speed until eventually they were almost in free fall. The silver-white dragon extended his claws outward and crashed into the earth. An echoing thud filled the air as he met it. The beast's muscle's bulged as he withstood the impact, some of the ground cracked from the force of him landing.
Kuja sighed, "A bit hasty on the touch down don't you think? Oh well..." He hopped off of Selris' back. "At least you stuck the landing."

Re: Forced Sides
Jareth slowed down and then came to a halt. He had felt something brush against his mind; and it was not the consciousness of any dragon. “So a rider then?” he muttered to himself. As he sat down and crossed his legs he almost broke into a smile – the plot was thickening every moment. He closed his eyes, reached up his left hand, and absently began stroking his cheek. Then he began mapping out the possible scenarios he would shortly be facing. Best to be prepared, after all, he thought.
The most likely situation was that this was yet another rider sworn to Galbatorix. As clever as they were, Jareth doubted that the elves had managed to hide away a dragon rider for this long – the cursed king had been quite thorough in his extermination of the ancient order. The ol’ Gal must be quite happy to have found another dragon– losing the blue one was probably a traumatizing turn of events. But, a white beast? Strange, that. I remember the final egg in his possession being green. He smiled wryly to himself. I suppose I’ve been gone a little too long – I seem to have missed some weighty events.
The likelihood that this strange new rider was more powerful than himself was slim; but it never hurt to be cautious. And it never hurts to be friendly, either. The shade adopted a charming smile. Killing can always come later.
Jareth pursed his lips and opened his eyes. He ceased his habitual stroking and dropped his left hand into his lap. “Time to get moving. Blood comes to those who act, after all.” He stood and stretched, shifted the strap of his satchel into a more comfortable position, then strode in the direction of the clearing that the dragon had landed in; and as he walked he rubbed his hands, ready to use them to break bones if need be. “Talking to myself? I do believe I am quite insane.”

Re: Forced Sides
Selris sniffed the air, he growled slightly. Kuja turned his attention towards his partner. "Feeling a bit restless are we?" He is getting close, and he may be stronger than I first expected. The scent of his energy is thick. "I'm hurt Selris, have you no faith in our power?", Kuja stated sarcastically. Of course, but this one will probably cause more trouble than most of what we run into. "Fine by me, I wouldn't mind breaking a sweat. It's been a while after all. Here I thought this was just going to be a boring day."
OOC: Eh short.. don't got much atm

Re: Forced Sides
He started humming softly to himself – it was a tune he remembered from his former life, soft and lilting. This was one of the few things he did not despise about his previous existence. The song was not a happy one, after all; and he always hummed it before shedding blood. He strode forward in time to the quiet buzz of his melody, toward the promise of murder. Jareth ceased his incessant humming and sighed contentedly – this was what made life enjoyable.
As the shade drew closer to the imminent confrontation, he lightly, ever so lightly, brushed his surroundings with a tendril of his consciousness; no need to be caught off guard by any third parties. He did not want any distractions – a confrontation with a dragon and its rider would be stimulating enough for him; anything else was unnecessary.
Quite suddenly, Jareth’s thin tendril swept – barely, delicately – over the minds of two formidable beings. The shade terminated contact in a fraction of a second and strengthened the already iron-hard walls around his own mind. He did this with precision; then he broke into a smile. Oh, fun. They’re quite strong. The fun, in this case, was in the challenge. Tormenting the weak had its merits, of course; but as a shade, the chance to test himself was rare. Everyone else is so…mortal. An almost childlike smile spread across his face.
Jareth continued his measured pace, resuming his humming and hand rubbing simultaneously; and soon, there was only a final bend between him and the dragon rider. He rounded it and walked into the clearing, and pretended not to notice the dragon and…elf? He was halfway across when he looked up, flinched in an obvious manner, and adopted an almost comical look of startlement.
“…Hello...a rather beautiful day, don’t you think…?”
