Redemption
Zantos walked forward as the men from behind pushed him. He was futilely trying to tap into the magic within him, but the drug was resistant to all his efforts. His clothes were torn everywhere and splattered with blood, as well as his face and even the chains that kept him walking towards the platform at the center of a Varden camp, looking out to a crowd of people, who seemed to have mixed feelings about what they were in the presence of. More than half seemed angry, some seemed shocked, and others disappointed. Zantos's eyes looked out everywhere, finding anything that might help him escape the fate that the leaders of the Varden were trying to impose on him. He could literally hear his heart pumping out as his thoughts became more hurried and flustered. Soon, they were walking up the steps, and finally they reached the looming, defiant guillotine in the center. Someone took out a knife and pulled his hair straight out. "No," Zantos said. "Leave my hair like it its. It won't get in the way of the execution anyway." The man who had been about to cut it stopped, considered, then shrugged and pocketed the knife. He did not seem very intelligent. Zantos was laid down and pulled forward. The man had only to let go of the rope and the blade would fall down, cutting his head off. But first, he knew, he would read the charges against him. Slowly, the man drawled out the false stories of how he was a spy plotting against Galbatorix. Zantos, despite being on the brink of death, shouted out what he knew to be the truth, that the man who was reading those words was the real spy. Some people yelled at him to shut up, and he felt a whip lash across his back. He grunted slightly but otherwise remained silent. He saw one of the people from the crowd run forwards to try and attack the man reading the sentence against Zantos, but he could not see clearly who it was. The man finally finished reading, and Zantos struggled to tap into the magic one last time. He heard the stupid man let go of the string and heard the whoosh of the blade fall through the air. Then, what every person saw was the blade stop in midair, the man who had been about to be executed break every chain, then the blade break off and fly at the man reading the sentence. Zantos felt all his energy return. Finally, the drug was starting to wear off, and he was glad that he had been able to stall the execution for this long. Still, as he saw hordes of soldiers and magicians run towards him, he felt that he might need some help if he was to escape from here.

Re: Redemption
A crowd seemed to have gathered in the centre of the street. Arrow, who had been wolfing down his sticky cherry pie, gazed up under the lip of his hood. I wonder what's up? Curious, he licked the cherry off his finger and made his way into the crowd. He'd halucinated his skin to appear an off-tan, but still more "normal" than grey. Peering through the people, he saw a young man about to be beheaded for crimes. Something about being a spy. He doesn't look like a spy ... Arrow thought, though before he could muse over the topic, the blade was descending for the criminal's neck. Arrow bared his teeth in retaliation, expecting blood, but there was none. The criminal seemed to have stopped the blade and was getting up, though now a lot of soldiers were sprinting for him. Arrow didn't need to think. He jumped in back-to-back with the stranger, his royal blue robes flapping. Need a hand, brudda? Or you right? Arrow asked mentally ...

Re: Redemption
OOC: I wish I had a different character to post this with, but this is my only "good guy" who doesn't breathe fire. Ah well.
Danagon looked at the man from under his hood. He didn't honestly believe this man had done what he was convicted of. He quietly crept through the crowd, till he was near the man reading the charges. He looked back from each man, the one reading the charges, and the one they were against. "Ah well, the Varden and I aren't on the best terms anyways." He whispered to himself, chuckling, and jumped up on to the platform and tried to tackle the man reading the charges, hoping to create a distraction. As soon as he jumped on to the platform though, a soldier had already put a sword to his neck. "Don't move." He whispered. Well that didn't work. Danagon stood still, waiting for the right moment to strike. Just then, the blade used for the execution flew at the man reading the charges. Danagon and the soldier ducked. The crowd gasped. Danagon decided this was his best chance, and elbowed the soldier in the mouth, kicking him in the stomach while doing so. No killing. No killing. He repeated to himself, and began backing up to the man who was supposed to be execued, while another man jumped on to the platform and went back to back with him. Danagon saw the soldiers coming, and Wilae appeared in his hands. No killing. No killing.

Re: Redemption
Zantos grinned as he saw that he was receiving help. Sure, a hand would be appreciated, he said into the mind of both. He quickly started to run towards the nearest exit, hurling every soldier in his path out of the way. He did not want to resort to too much violence, seeing as these people were, after all, the soldiers fighting against Galbatorix. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a flurry of small rocks flying towards him. He quickly drew his sword and moved it in a circle to ward them off, then jumped over a group of soldiers who had looked at this maneuver with their mouths open. A couple of arrows were shot his way, but he moved his hand back, sending a wave of fire to burn them all down. As he landed, however, he felt extremely tired, and slunk through the side of a tent to catch his breath, hoping his enemies had not noticed. He quickly contacted his helpers of where he was so they would not be confused, if they had not seen him.
