Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari let Ka speak first and then followed in suit on the subject of the man before adding his thoughts at the end. "Calm yourself Jia. He is right. The man is not some fiend, a wolf in sheeps clothing. He was ready to walk out the door to confront you and tell you of what happened before encouraged to do otherwise" That much was all he was able to pick up from kadaj and Sarai's conversation before he came over.
"He has trained beside Atakai and is just as honorable as him I think. Do not give in to the flame of hatred. It will burn away everything to ash leaving you a former husk of your self. In this subject I know. I forgave you when I should have ripped out your throat" And it was true. Mahari had lost everything and at one point gave in to his hate before overcoming it and becoming the scholar that he was. True he was once a well enough fighter. But over time his skills had dulled for battle like a rusty nife. But unlike his dragon form Mahari prefered. He was in human form now and had an advantage. Knowledge of the ancient world. Spells in particular. And with his voice he could hinder Jia if not stop her. Something he would do his best to do.
"I know what you are thinking my friend. You think this man has stolen your daughters innocence. Her honor. But from where I am standing she was holding his hand and encouraged him to flee your wrath. Perhaps it is because people call me mad" Mahari said. "But that does not seem like the behavior Sarai would show if she was violated. She is young like he is. But not stupid or helpless. She protects him. If you try to take this mans life. I think you will have to go through your daughter first. This statement mahari knew was a gamble. He really did not know Sarai that well. Perhaps she was the kind of person to let him die to save herself from her mothers anger and play the innocent damsel that needed rescueing.
"Think with your head, not your heart" Mahari pleaded. He already dreaded what was going to happen. Jia was not a rational creature. But something ruled by emotion. She was primitive in that way like most of her kind. With the company of slayers here at the farm numbering over three hundred it would not end well. Suffering from hangovers or not they would react accordingly to Jia the best they could if she turned to dragon form and started to attack.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia curled her lip up at Ka, showing her teeth in a display that was anything but a smile,"Would you think the same if it was me?" she retorted harshly to her Rider,"Would you think so differently from how I do now if it was me and not Sarai?" she hissed and turned on Mahari when he spoke. As it was obvious that neither of them were going to allow her to pass, she clenched her hands into fists and closed her eyes, taking deep breaths in through her nose. When she reopened her eyes they only sparkled with frustration, not the rage as they had a few moments before. Her eyes were icy as she met Mahari's,"She is my daughter, Nathen, the offspring of Shruikan, the most hated dragon in Alagaësia. When he finds out, which is inevitable, he will rip her throat out with no hesitation." she said dully. "Young? By my standards, a dragons standards, she is still very much a hatchling, and young enough to still be in my care!" she snapped angrily. Her eyes glittered, but not was anger. Moisture filled her eyes but did not spill. Tears of fear. She just wanted to protect her baby. Her hands shook as she crossed her arms over her chest and looked at the ground, breathing hard. Finally she looked up at Mahari and her teal-green eyes were like ice,"When he finds out what she truly is, if she befalls any harm, you will find me on your doorstep." she said softly. It was not a threat; just a warning. She uncrossed her arms and pushed past Mahari and Ka, heading for the back exit. She waved a hand at them,"I just want to talk to him." she said tiredly; the display of rage-fueled magic was taking its toll on her strength. She knew they hadn't gotten far from the barn. She stomped her foot three times, hard. She knew that Sarai would feel it with her powers. Jia, despite looking calm, was still quite wired up. Kadaj would have to tread carefully.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai did indeed feel the stomps, but she didn't say anything right away. Instead she tilted her head as if she were listening, then pursed her lips,"I don't feel mother's magic anymore. I think my uncle and Mahari have calmed her down a bit." she murmured to Kadaj, turning in the direction of the back..

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Ka let Jia snap at them without flinching and without a word. Better them than the kid, who snapping at would have probably involved the snapping of some bones. Once she finished, he sighed a bit, but still remained silent. He had nothing to say, she had ever right to be in a rage over what had happened, and was surprised that she had calmed down as quickly as she had. Though she wasn't calm, she wasn't going to kill anyone, hopefully. When she pushed past them, he followed her. As much as he trusted her, he still wasn't sure how she would react when she actually saw the guy.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari became irritated with Jia after the mention of the name Nathen. She knew very well he hated hearing it so he retorted "We both know he is dead Jia. Remember? You left him to die cold and alone with a arrow in his neck" As she forced her way by mahari did not try to stop her. All he said was. "Try to talk with your mouth and not your blades"
With her now out of sight he stood away from Kadaj's shield that Mahari had blocked from sight with his body. Mahari saw the whole series as events as Karma playing out. If Jia knew who the boy was he believed she would see it otherwise.
Sitting down now on a halebale Mahari did not follow Jia. He would let the rest play out on its own.
Kadaj at this time was starting to lead Sarai to his horse. After asking if she had any ideas and got nothing it seemed it was up to him. They would flee. Crouching the young myrmidon in training with the slayer legion cupped both his hands together to provide a step to help Sarai onto his horse. But to late he saw Jia and stood back up. Guiding Sarai with a hand he led her behind him as if he could shield her from her mothers wrath. With the other hand he reached for his belt where his sword would have been, had he not left it inside with his shield. Feeling nothing but open air the young trainy looked down and held a funny look of embarassment.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia closed her eyes at the reminder. When she spoke, her voice was broken, tired,"When will you understand that I didn't have a choice. I tried, Nathen. If you care to remember, I swore in the Ancient Language that I would come to you as soon as I could." she turned to look at Mahari, and her eyes showed a weariness and an ancient sadness that was far beyond her years,"I tried, Mahari. Every time I thought I was free to go, more things would get in the way that had to be taken care of. Maybe I didn't try hard enough, I don't know. All I can say now is I'm sorry, no matter how inadequate it might be, and say that if I could do it again, I would try harder to find you sooner." she murmured. She caught the shield from the corner of her eye and spun to look. She hadn't been seeing things, that truly was the crest of the King. Astonishment was the first thing she felt. What woman in their right mind would bed with the king? And then she thought that perhaps the women he had taken had not been in their right mind. She shivered at the thought. The next thing she felt was amusement. Her daughter the offspring of Shruikan, the boy the son of Galbatorix. Oh the irony. She turned and saw the boy walking ahead of Sarai, gently leading her as if she truly were blind. Okay, that was a point in his favor; he was courteous, a gentleman. She let him fidget for a while under her gaze, then pursed her lips,"I am Johdzsia, daughter of Seluka. Your name and rank, and what you plan to do if this...escalates?" by that she meant whether her daughter got pregnant or not.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai didn't tremble behind Kadaj, but she definitely was nervous. She was tensed to act in case her mother charged abruptly. First she would Change, she didn't care about the problems it would cause, and then she would grab Kadaj and fly away, to protect him. She could almost admit that she felt affection for him. He was willing to stand up against her mother who, in any form that she chose to take, was downright frightening when she got really angry. That was deserving of at least a little affection. She glowered at her mother, a warning in her eyes; she would protect Kadaj from Jia, and she hoped that the gold-amethyst haired elf could see it.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Ka had noticed the shield when he came running into the barn, but paid it no mind. It would be shallow of him to judge others based on who their parents where, Sarai was a tribute to that. He followed Jia outside and saw the boy leading Sarai to his horse. He stopped just outside the barn door and let Jia continue on. He was close enough to act if Jia got out of hand, but far enough away to not get in the way on accident.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari looked around now as the sleepy slayers started to wake up. Soon the entire farm would be alive with activity with whatever slayers did in there strict regiment.
Outside Kadaj was uneasy with the silance and stern look of Sarai's mother. He had no idea what to say to her and evidently Jia did not either. Much to his relief Jia did speak. Wispering to Sarai first he said. "At least she is not talking with her dagger. We are off to a great start already" Clearing his throat the young man stood at attention and placed his armored glove against his chestplate with a loud bang of metal hitting eachother.
" I am Druak Kadaj, son to Rico Kadaj grandmaster of the slayer order of the southern chaptor" The boy was the bloodoffspring of the king yet called another father. It made sense. The king did not raise the many countless offspring he produced over the years. The boy continued to recite from memory with pride in his voice. "Rank, Mrymidon, apprentice to the third degree with the second blood legion." Next he recited accomplishments out of habit as if he was standing before a superior officer. " I hold many honors from the grand tournaments held each year at the temple. A reigning champion that still holds the esteemed dragon chalice as my trophy. I am awarded with a legion banner with V stitching for my actions on the crusades last year to wipe out the kabold menace that threated our great country." The boys voice trailed near the last words of his sentence in memory of something. Shrugging it off he continued. "My actions on that crusade saved the kabold race from extinction after I stood up to general kakarov and a planned attack on there underground village The boy then recited the marks against him. "Marks ill in my favor. Under order law article 6 section 12 I was punished publicly in the temple couryard with lashings under the wip. I was confined to quarters under guard and have marks on my record for insubordination, undermining a senior officer, and disobeying a lawful order. I am barred for promotion for a minimum of one year." The man paused. "This was the second time I have ever left the confines of the acadamy walls.
He spoke the last sentence with regret. Regret really that he was bound to tell her of his failures to follow even simple orders. It was shameful in his mind and in the eyes of his fellow slayers. It marked him as untrustworthy. Probably the reason why he has not left the acadamy much. Still, the boy stood up for what he believed was right.
Relaxing now and lowering his hand from his chest the boy said with as much honesty as possible. "If your honored daughter grows heavy with child I swear on my honor as a myrmidon dragon knight to do all that is required of me. I shall provide financially with my salary and provide emotional support. I will purchase a home near the elven wood and ask the grandmaster for a compasionate reassignment to the slayer chaptor stationed out of fort valor near Osirus. To this I swear. As long as I live until time takes me, or I am claimed by ilness, sword, or dragon fire. I shall take care of Sarai"
Martyrs are not the best of fathers. There was always the chance Jia would ask him to leave the slayers.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai grimaced and muttered under her breath,"You're lucky she isn't talking with her fangs." she became more and more proud of him as he spoke, even when he spoke of his punishments. She put a supporting hand on his shoulder,"There is no shame in disobeying orders if the alternative choice helps others in any way." she murmured just loud enough so he could hear. She knew that more than anyone. She disobeyed her mother all the time because she knew there was something better that she could do than sit around and twiddle her talons.
Jia tried not to smirk as he listed off his name, rank, heritage, accomplishments, and even punishments. She nodded to herself at each, remaining blank faced. When he came to Sarai becoming pregnant, her jaw clenched, and she closed her eyes, fighting back the rage that wanted so badly to surface. She was silent for a long time. Finally she reopened her eyes, and they gleamed with a sadness,"I wish you had gone about this better. Both of you. This proposes problems that you have no idea about." she said, and sighed. Sarai tilted her head, confused. The problem was about if Sarai ever did get pregnant, with the child. The blood of a dragon didn't change with the form that they were in. It stayed draconic. Not that another Draconian was a bad thing, she just didn't want it to be the clue in to Kadaj that his companion was more, a lot more, than she seemed to be. She touched Sarai's mind. Are you comfortable with telling him? she murmured. She got a tiny physical nod in reply. She sighed again,"Kadaj, what do you know about my daughter?" she asked quietly. At the same time she reached for Ka's mind through their link. You seem to have a better eye for these things. All of those present in this barn, except for Mahari, me, you, and Sarai, are Dragon Slayers. The real kind, trained and bred for the practice. Even Kadaj. He needs to know at some point that my daughter isn't completely elven. Should she reveal herself now, later down the road when they trust each other more, or when she is pregnant? No, nix that last one. Changing while she's pregnant might terminate the fetus. she said to her companion, glancing at Ka out of the corner of her eye.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Ka had the barn door cracked so he could see inside and let them know if any slayers decided to get up and wander out, and at the same time, keep an eye of them. When Jia asked if he thought Sarai should tell Kadaj now or later, he didn't answer right away. If she told him now, there was a chance that he would freak out and try to kill her, or alert other slayers, which would end badly for them. On the other hand, if she waited until they were settled and trusted one another, he may become enraged that he married the creature he had dedicated his life to kill and then attempt to kill her. Either way, the out comes didn't look promising, but there was always the chance he would be understanding. "Tell him now. It would be better to be upfront with him about it now rather than wait and he think her a liar down the road. If he tries anything, I have Seal ready to silence him." He pulled one of his arms into his cloak and made a Void Seal of Silence. If Kadaj tried yelling out to his fellow Slayers to come and kill them, it would stop his voice in his throat. If he got violent, it would crush it within a second. Ka could only hope that neither would be needed, but better safe than sorry.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Kadaj did not hear Sarai mutter about how he was lucky her mother was talking rather then using her fangs. But he did notice her elegantt elven hand rest on his shoulder for support. Turning his head he gave a weak smile. Kissing the back of Sarai's hand now he reached up a armored hand and put it over hers on his shoulder. "I did what I thought was right. It was mankinds fault to begin with that they got angry enough to raise arms. There normally so passive. But with encroachment of human settlers on there lands cutting down there trees they became enraged. Have you ever seen a kabold Sarai?" he asked her. His face turned to one of amusement. "How could anyone wipe out a race that is just so damn adorable. There small reptiles kind of like draconians but no higher then a mans waist. With floppy little horse like ears. And mentally they are like children. No sense of right or wrong. Naive innocence" The man chuckled. During the first part of the crusade It was hard to take there little warriors seriously. He frowned now. "But after having a couple of them latch onto my legs and arms like monkeys and bit me I had to treat them like enemys. Kadaj shuddered at the memory of him covered in angry kolds and pulling them off and throwing them. Some he even threw to the ground and crushed there skulls with his armored boot. It was not until near the end when we found there underground village in some salt caverns. By then I was wiser of our enemy I saw nothing but what they were. Frightened little children
At Jias question if he knew her daughter Kadaj directed his attention to her. "I regret to say not enough. But enough to matter. She is of elven kind. Of this I do not care. She is blind, also I do not care. Many would see this as a burden, I however do not. Thirdly, I know enough about her heart in our brief moments together to know I would be no prouder then to have her bear my children. It will be a major life change I know. But I will adapt and overcome as all slayers do." The adaption he was thinking of would not be what happened. But still, like he said, he would overcome.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia half listened, curious despite herself. She even relaxed and leaned against the barn door. Her heart warmed slightly to him as he spoke of her daughter. Her lips almost twitched into a smile. Maybe he would do for Sarai. Then she sighed and stood upright, arms loose at her sides, ready to defend her daughter if the need arose. "There is more to her than the eye can see. Sarai, explain. Then show him." she said. She stiffened, her teal-green eyes locked on Kadaj.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai smiled slightly at Kadaj as he spoke to her about a creature called kabolds. She noted the name and decided that she might see if there were any of them left. She looked down to the ground as he spoke of her, blushing slightly when he mentioned her carrying his children. She glanced up at her mother, nodding. She gently pulled her hand from his shoulder, pulling his own with it, and moved around so she stood in front of him. She grasped his armored hand and squeezed lightly. "I am not as blind as one might think at first look. My mother is standing two paces from the barn, Ka is right behind them, watching mother and also for slayers that might interrupt us, Mahari is sitting on a haybale inside the barn, waiting for us to finish. Your horse is twenty paces behind you and to the right a bit." she paused and looked up, directly into his eyes,"I have powers to see everything through my feet, the price being my actual sight." she paused again and bit her lip. She backed away a bit and bowed her head, closing her eyes. After a moment she touched her Changing Seal. The light was muted, as if it sensed that she was within hostile territory, and then she was in her dragon form. Her dark black scales gleamed with an enchanting beauty, and the small lines of gold around each scale glittered gently. Her eyes, the same pale-lavender-flecked-with-light-grey, fixed on his feet and she refused to meet his gaze. She wanted to appear as nonthreatening as possible. At the shoulder she was about as tall as a pony at the withers, so she kept her head lowered almost to the ground. Her tail flicked nervously. I trust you, to show you what I am. I want you to trust me too. she murmured, still not meeting his eyes.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Ka watched Kadaj carefully for any signs of hostility, but he also kept an eye on a few of the slayers in the barn who were beginning to stir. A few of them saw the light from Sarai's change, muted though it was, and came to see what it was. Ka didn't think they would listen to him, so he pulled his other hand into his cloak and made a Seal of Rest, putting the few curious slayers back to sleep for a bit. He wondered how Kadaj would take Sarai's new appearance, when a thought struck him. "Jia...what if he figures out that you're a dragon too, now that he knows Sarai is one?" He wished he had thought of that sooner, but it was too late now.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
"What?" Kadaj asked with a confused look at what Jia said then added. "Oh no... I'm not going to like this am I?" Kadaj listened to Sarai attentively but did not seem that surprised and spoke as Sarai stepped back to look at the ground. "Is that it? Is that what you were afraid to tell me. Your a elven seer. Ok. No big deal. Its not like your a drag......" His words stopped after Sarai changed. Kadaj just stared blankly as his left eye twitched a bit. "OhHHHH!" He said loudly and held his head. "I dont feel so good..." With that the boy swayed and passed out to hit the ground on his side. He would survive the shock. The smell of having half his face lying in a pile of horse crap was not so easy to recover from.
Kadaj was not really sure how long he was out before he stirred. At first he was content to think it a horrible nightmare until he saw Sarai again. Still in dragon form. He was not out that long then. Not even noticing the dark smudge of horse dung on half his face Kadaj sat up and held his head in his palms. "Sins of the fathers." He mumbled then looked up towards Sarai with a scheptical look on his face. "Ok, Ok, I think, I can live with this. But I just have one question" There was a dramatic pause before he asked it. "Your not going to steal my spirit are you?"
It sounded like a stupid question but the story of lord Aurok and the dragon lady was a popular tale the slayers told youths like him. The tale of a once powerful slayer who was tempted by a buetiful elven woman. After a night together when he awoke she was a dragon and had a gem around her neck. Within, trapped was his soul. As the tales went he wandered the elven forests forever always looking for the temptress that had his spirit.
Atakai was up and about by this time and had just finished talking to the slayer warden. "Strange" He said. "Why would the king summon all of the slayer blood legion along with there grandmaster to a old abandoned outpost?" Shrugging Atakai pushed it out of his mind. "So you and the others are leaving then? Am I to report to fort valor near Osirus?" The Warden nodded as he prepared the saddle bags on his horse. "Stir the men Atakai, It will take many hours to prepare"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia glanced back at Ka and exhaled slightly. It can not be helped now, dear prince. From the way that he has reacted to Sarai, however, I doubt that I have very much to fear. she said quietly, looking back at Kadaj and her daughter. She smiled just a bit at his question, but she was not the one that answered.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai tensed when he passed out, coiling her muscles to dart forward and catch him, but something told her to stay put. She laid down on her belly and kept her head low. Her eyes widened slightly at his question and she shook her head. No, Kadaj. I would never hurt you or any other twoleg unless I had to. Neither would my mother. she murmured. She extended her head slowly toward him, keeping her eyes plastered on the ground. I don't like to kill. Don't want to. My father already gives me a bad enough reputation, I avoid creating more. Myself, my mother, and mother's Rider have recently returned from a war in a different land. she closed her eyes and a visible shudder of pain and revulsion slid down her spine. I would be content if I never had to kill or hurt anyone again. I'll say it again that I won't hurt you in the Ancient Language of the elves, binding me to my word, if you want. she said quietly. She hesitated, still not looking at him, and then moved forward a tiny bit so her snout brushed against the back of his hand. I'm just like those kabolds, in a way. she said, and her eyes twinkled tentatively.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Kadaj shook his head after Sarai spoke in his mind. Something he was just getting use to. It was new for him. "Yeah? Well we all seem to have daddy issues" He grumbled. "I think I know wich one. I have heard about the war the king supports across the sea. You came from that? Never thought a dragon would have more battle experience then me." The man paused and moved the palm over his face. "The kabold insurrection was not really a war but a series of skirmishs. I met a dragon once and earned this for my trouble. But the fallen dragon god let me live.
If you say you wont hurt me I belief it. You could have killed me last night if you really wanted to." With that said the young man finally wrinkled his nose. "What is that smell?" Rubbing his hand against his face and noticing the horse dung he passed out in made him change the subject of conversation. "Oh, its me..... wonderful"
Feeling Sarai's touch on his hand Kadaj pulled it away in reflex. "Floppy ears wise maybe. But your bigger and not so adorable, in appearance anyways" He was not trying to be cruel but just called it as he saw it. A dragon and a kabold in his oppinion were very much different. "You better change back" He said. "The farm is coming alive. OCC: meh, its late here and I'm tired.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai felt hurt as he pulled away from her touch but hid it well so no one would see. She dipped her head at his request for her to change back. As you wish. she murmured, and did as told. In another moment she was again in her elven form. Her head was bowed and her hands held in front of her,"I meant similar to the kabold in the terms that...I'm scared. I don't like to fight or kill, I never have since I hatched, but I'm forced to sometimes, to protect myself or my family or someone I care about. And yes, that is the war I speak of." she shook her head without looking up,"Killing is not a glorious thing. Never think that death is something to rejoice. Death is something to mourn. Sometimes, I hear them. The ones that I killed in the war, I mean. I hear them whispering to me, begging me to give them mercy, but...I..I couldn't. I had no choice. But I suffer for the choice that I made. Don't listen to the stories of the great heroes. They don't tell the truth. Or at least, they don't tell the full truth." she whispered. She felt Jia shift uncomfortably and knew what her mother was thinking. Jia had never had a problem with killing. She disliked it, as anyone with humanity would, but she did not object to it if the person she had killed or was going to kill had or would hurt the ones she loved. Sarai knew that and glanced back at her mother,"Don't think that way, Mom. You kill without remorse to protect yourself from what I must go through. I just...inherited the part of you that felt the pain." she said quietly. Jia seemed a bit surprised,"True that I kill without remorse, my darling, but it is later that I regret what I must do to protect the ones I love. No warrior is perfect, darling heart." her mother murmured in response.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Kadaj was annoyed by Sarai's so openly submissive behavior before him with her head always bowed. Most men would like such things. He however did not. He was about to say as much until Sarai started speaking again. His heart melted like butter before a hot knife. "Forgive my misunderstanding then. I did not know that is what you ment. I, I never figured dragons to be the sort to get scared." he said in thought. "The acadamy always taught us your kind were nothing more then animals, The ultimate predator born and bred for one perpose. To kill. Your not like a dragon at all"
Her wise words humbled the young man. He once had dreams of becoming a champion of mankind like Atakai. But after facing his first dragon and losing the man had second thoughts. "You dont have to worry about me trying to be a hero. I have learned my strengths and weakness's in the slayers. I'm not the hero type. Thats more like my friend Atakai. Kadaj let mother and daugter talk. When they finished Atakai along with the slayer warden appeared after waking up the slayers in the camp and the barn. "There you are boy" The warden said. "New orders. The king has summoned all of the blood legion. You are to prepare to break camp and travel." With that Warden turned and left. Atakai however remained and pointed to his face. "You have a little something there Kadaj." The young slayer knew this of course and gave a sarcastic laugh. "Funny old man"
The older slayer laughed. "I told you to go slowly since its your first time drinking. You will know better next time then." With that Atakai to left. Kadaj stood up and did his best to wipe the horse dung from the side of his face. "I must go daughter of the sky people" Kadaj said to Sarai. "But I will return" He assured her.
Turning to leave he stopped and looked back. He wanted to say more but at the moment could not think of anything. Sighing the young man left for inside the barn to retrieve his shield and sword and join the others of the myrmidon slayer knighthood as they prepared to leave.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Sarai smiled slightly at his reply though she still didn't look up at him,"I understand. Dragons do tend to have that reputation. There are a few of us that are cold-blooded killers, just as there are cold-blooded killers among humans and even elves. Truly we are not much different than humanoids, we're just a lot bigger and covered in scales." she said, her lips twitching into a slight smile.
Her face relaxed into relief as he said he was not the hero type. She looked up at Atakai and the warden when they came in and tried not to blush in embarrassment. She listened to the warden, worry collecting in the pit of her stomach. She had a bad feeling about this request from the king. She didn't think it was paranoia, though she would prefer it. After Atakai left Sarai looked back at Kadaj, her eyes wide. She was a little comforted by his promise to return, but still her stomach churned. She bit her lip.
When he came out of the barn with his shield and sword and began walking to join the others, she made him pause for a moment. Going up on tiptoe so she could reach him, she kissed him on the lips. She had already made sure that no one was around or close enough to see. After a bit she pulled away and looked into Kadaj's eyes,"Come back to me, Druak Kadaj." she ordered quietly. She pecked him on the nose, then pushed him toward where she could feel the others gathering,"Now go." she said briskly. The black-gold dragoness then turned and walked to her mother, who caught her when she sagged,"Too much." she whispered to Jia, who nodded in understanding. She felt herself passing out, her vision going dark.
- - - - - - - - - -
Jia looked up at her Rider and grimaced as she held Sarai in her arms,"Things are picking up too much. I am honestly surprised she didn't lose it last night, with everyone dancing around her and crowding her. Mahari, could I take Sarai to your cave for her to rest?" she asked the twoleg as she carried her daughter to the barn doors.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
As soon as the Warden and the unknown person appeared, Ka's attention was drawn to them. He didn't feel any kind of danger, but it was possible. He had let go of his Seal when Kadaj didn't scream and shout that Sarai was a dragon. He listened to the Warden say that the King was calling the Blood Legion to some where. Ka had half a mind to arrange for a slight 'accident' to befall them in their travels, but decided against it. Ever since the war, he had found that it was more difficult to hold himself back when he began to kill. He was almost the exact opposite of Jia and Sarai. Where she was hesitant to kill now, and disliked the sight of blood, there was a part of him that was always telling him to kill, just to watch the beautiful crimson blood splatter all over the ground; to fill the air with the sounds and smells with the dead and dying. There was a part of him the reveled in killing, loved it, wanted it, needed it; and he hated that part of him. He had become so engrossed in his thoughts that he almost missed Sarai falling into Jia's arms. He pushed the door open for her, now that she was carrying Sarai, and followed behind them. With a small flicker of movement inside his cloak, he with drew his hands and placed them by each of her feet. Earth Seal: Restful Earth." A small brown Seal appeared on the soles of her feet and glowed lightly. "You can set her down now. The Seals will filter out any thing that she doesn't want to see, like the marching of an army, but she will still be able to see us and anything that poses a danger to her, at least until we get somewhere with less movement. I figure it would look strange for you to carry her out, and if Kadaj, the Warden, or that other man saw they may ask what happened and why you were carrying when she had been fine moments before. This will allow her to walk out without being over whelmed, once she wakes up that is." The Seal he had used was a modified Earth Seal that would filter out any unwanted vibration in the ground, like an army marching. Modifying Seals was something else Ka had developed during the war, as he often had to make new ones or change existing ones to kill a new enemy or protect himself. He kept an eye on the front barn door, making sure no one would wander in. It was doubtful since they were moving out, but it could happen.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari pulled up the hood of his cloak and nodded to Jia and her suggestion. "Yes, lets go. I am already growing irritated with all these people. I have had enough social time to last me for a couple of years more of solitude. He followed close by Jia's side to offer help if she tired carrying her daughter.
Outside Kadaj mounted his horse and walked it over to the other slayers already mounted and ready to go. "So whats this all about?" He asked a comrade. "Might be for that new battleplan the grandmaster proposed" The man answered. "Your father is a good man Druak, but if its all the same and good with you, I would rather not this proposol of his go through. The idea that we need to work with empire dragons is stupid. We never needed them before for close air support. Why start now?"
Kadaj gave no answer. OCC: lacking muse today.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia nodded in thanks to Ka, watching him with concern. She could feel the savageness in him that had shown itself since the war, a part of him that wanted, even needed, to see, hear, and smell blood being spilt. She smiled at her Rider and eased into his mind, suppressing that part of him with her mind as well as her powers. She let him feel her love for him, her protectiveness toward him. She didn't even realize that she was purring softly in her throat, barely audible, but Ka's keen ears would have been able to pick it up. She felt Sarai stir and looked down at her daughter. The black-gold haired girl blinked open her eyes, then shifted so she was standing before Jia could protest. The gold-amethyst haired woman glanced at Mahari and twitched her lips at his dry comment,"If there is one thing that has not changed about you, Mahari, it is that you hate crowds and you dislike people in general." she muttered, just loud enough for him to hear. She followed behind her daughter to outside the farm, way out into the trees so that there was little chance of them being spotted. Sarai and Jia Changed in the blink of an eye. Jia crouched down for Ka to mount, wincing slightly as the scars across her chest and right foreleg from the Allatik War stretched uncomfortably.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai Changed and crouched down beside Mahari, nudging his leg gently with her snout. Would you like to ride me back to the cave, Mahari? You can Change there. I want to prove to Mom that I can hold a rider, even if I am small. she said, and glowered playfully in Jia's direction. The gold-amethyst growled softly and snapped her teeth together, but the rumble that vibrated the bigger dragoness's chest was laughter. Like I said, it takes more than just brute strength to carry a rider, Sarai. I've lost count of how many times I dropped Ka onto the ground while we were training together. grumbled Jia, glancing back at Ka apologetically. Sarai huffed. Believe it or not, I actually carried someone during the war- Jia cut her off. In your claws, mind you, not on your back. retorted her mother lightly. Sarai scowled at her, then looked back at Mahari, her eyes glittering. What do you say? she asked eagerly.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Ka ignored the emotions Jia sent for him without meaning to, the voice telling him to kill was simply too loud. Something snapped in his head and a strange look over came his eyes as a smile spread over his face. Jia would be able to feel something was wrong, the he knew for certain, so if he was going to do this he needed to do it now. Before she could stop him, he vanished and blocked himself from her so she couldn't follow.
He reappeared in the field where a soldier was standing, relieving himself before heading out. He was whistling slightly, not expecting a cloaked man to come up behind him and snap his neck in three places, but it happened. Ka made short work of the man's armor, which was luckily the perfect fit for Ka. After trading cloths with the man, Ka headed out to join the rest of his victims; he had never committed mass slaughter before, he wondered what it would feel like. Trading cloths with the man served two purposes: 1 was to disguise himself so he could get within the formation, and 2 was if Jia tried to sniff him out she would be drawn to the man in the field first. He had thought about her using a tracking seal, so he placed several mirror seals on the inside of the armor that would effectively counter any tracking seal she could make by bouncing back an empty wave of energy. (tracking seals work like echo-location, sending out energy and the energy bouncing back in a specific pattern. Each person has a special pattern and if you tell the seal what person you are looking for it will look for that pattern, but a mirror seal will bounce back energy with no pattern). Taking his place at the end of the formation, out of sight and trying to draw as little attention to himself as he could, he waited for them to move out.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari stopped as Jia did when her daughter came to rely on her own legs. It did not concern him though at the moment. Mahari slid his hands into the robe sleeves on opposite hands and looked to the sky that already darkened a bit from a coming rainstorm. A small smile crept onto the corner of his mouth. He really did enjoy rain. Hearing Jia mutter he glanced to her and paused for a moment to piece the words he barely heard together. "And why not?" He asked again dryly. "People are unreliable and a distraction from my life pursuit to become one with magic. The life blood of the world. Being social is overated and a distraction. As long as I have my books. I could spend an eternity alone in my cave contemplating life and all its mysterys" He paused in conforting thought. "To meditate for hours until at last I reach enlightenment." Mahari looked to the side signaling he was done with the subject. And so they continued on until they were safe from the view.
When Jia and Sarai changed to the natural forms Mahari was preparing to change himself until he felt a gentle nudge on his leg. Looking down to Sarai, his eyes shadowed from view from his cloak hood the man smiled. "But of course child I only ask for but one thing. Dont drop me" Mahari spoke again. This time mostly to spite Jia. Looking in the direction of Sarai's mother Mahari said dryly. "But I dont really see why you need the practice with a rider. I would have thought you got enough training with a rider last night...."
Turning his gaze from Jia after the stinging words he looked to Ka. "Speaking of riders...." He mumbled and took note of the face Ka had at the moment. He knew that face. Mahari had seen it enough in his old life as Nathen. A common soldier in his majestys army. Before he could say anything the man disapeared. Shaking his head Mahari grumbled. "People and there weak childish magic". He grumbled in disapproval. "And then there were three..."

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia didn't hear Mahari's stinging words about her daughter, she was too concentrated on Ka. She slammed her paw down, frustration welling up. Damn damn damn! She should have been ready. She closed her eyes and began to track him, but felt like a rough kick in the stomach when she felt him block her from his mind. She could feel the beginnings of the bloodlust leeching over to her from across their link. A shudder went down her spine, but she fought it. She had fought it before, for Ka, and by god she would do it again.
- - - - - - - - - -
Sarai shot a glare at Mahari, the scales of her face turning slightly midnight red instead of their usual luster black. She gave him a gentle cuff on the back of his head with her tail. She closed her eyes in distress when she felt Ka disappear. Not in despair; she was tracking him. Her eyes shot open after a moment. She lowered her head and scooted forward, scooping Mahari onto the juncture of her neck and shoulders. Mahari hold on. she commanded him, then she slapped Jia's shoulder hard with her tail. Come on, I can track him; follow me. she ordered crisply, then took off at a dead sprint with her mother on her heels. She could feel Kadaj close to the spot where Ka was and she felt like her heart had stopped. Not him, not him. she whispered, and increased her speed. When she felt as if she might be in danger of being seen and discovered, she stopped, let Mahari dismount, and Changed to her Reapric form. She looked slightly different than she normally would; her eyes were a dark brown and her hair a true black, shoulder length. She rushed out, running with all the strength of her Reapric form and of her natural strength from her father, which left her as almost a blur of motion. She found Ka by feeling his gait. It was slightly different with the armor he wore, but she knew her Uncle Ka. She touched the shoulder of who she knew to be Ka and spun around him until she stood in front of him. She let him see fear in her brown eyes and on her face,"Ka, no. Please, no. It's Sarai, it's me. If you want violence then spar with me, but leave them alone." she begged. Kadaj was a yard or two away. She had to protect him, no matter the cost.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Ka had it all planned out. He would march with them until they were in the middle of no where and then start killing. Of course he wouldn't touch Kadaj, since he mattered to Sarai and Sarai mattered to Jia and Jia mattered to him, so by the transitive property Kadaj mattered to him. It made sense, in and odd sort of way. When Sarai twisted him around, he was caught off guard slightly, but only slightly. Before he could ask her how she found him, she began pleading with him to leave 'him' alone. He gave her an irritated look. "I'm crazy not stupid." he said, rolling his eyes. " I never planned on killing him...just everyone else." Now, something you must understand about Ka in this state: he doesn't think...At. All. When he said that he planned on killing everyone there, he had forgot that there was a legion of Dragon Hunters behind him. At least, until one of them grabbed his shoulder and spun him around, aiming a punch to his face, which he caught. "Go! And tell Jia to not get involved...this is my fun..." He said, and crushed the man's hand with the superior strength. A circle was quickly formed around him as the Hunters drew their weapons. Ka cracked his knuckled and rolled his neck. "Well come on then!"
OOC: If you want, you two can control a few of the soldiers since it is a legion...and I don't know if these guys have magic or not...sooo yea.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari grunted at the soft blow but said nothing on the matter. It was as he liked to call it. "A natural consequance" For his actions. Mahari was a firm believe in chaos theory. That for every action there was a opposite, negative reaction. With Ka gone there was little for interpretation for where he was. "If you rider intends to attack the slayers Jia I fear he will die. If Atakai is there at least" Mahari seemed to hold 'the giant of Osirus" in high regard. Even though he was human. Even one so powerful as Mahari feared him. For a reason no doubt. The human did kill a fallen dragon god. With little if any help from Jia and Sarai.
Without warning Mahari felt himself scooped up on Sarai's kneck and she took off at a sprint as she normally did prefering travel on the ground. "GENTEL!" Mahari said aloud as she took off in a run. To late he spoke as he slid forward bashing his groin into her kneck with the rythim of her gait. All he could do not was grunt in pain and hold onto Sarai for dear life. "I cannot interfere with mortal affairs" He sent Sarai by mind halfway through the journy. But wether he liked it or not. Mahari would end up doing just that.
With her unatural grace and speed it did not take long until they reached the slayers. Dismounting when Sarai stopped Mahari took the time to walk awkwardly with the saddle sore he had even though no saddle was present when he rode her.
Atakai was not there fortunatly. As the newly promoted slayer champion very well might have killed Ka. Still the odds were not in his favor when the first punch was thrown. Kadaj was indeed not far away. When the scuffle broke out he was one of the many that formed a circle around Ka. But instead of his sword Kadaj had a crossbow trained on the dragon rider with many, many others not with sword in hand. Ka, Mahari, Sarai, and Jia were surrounded by over three hundred hungover and very angry slayers. Not a place to be. There was no hope against such odds accept death.... at least a sane man would think. Ka was not one of the gifted few apparently.
Mahari was quick to point out the obvious. "We should flee" He said dryly. "I can conjure a field of protection that will shield us from arrows"
Not asking for consent Mahari spoke words of power. Balls of bright blue energy glowing in both his outstretched palms. Arrows took flight but splintered as they struck some invisible dome that surrouned the party of four. "Whatever you plan to do!" Mahari said aloud. "Do it fast! I cant maintain it for long against the slayer circle of mages!" The meaning of his words became evident as mages from the slayer order came to shoot blasts of magic of there own that impacted the field of protection violently.
Kadaj was one of the many that fired arrows. But his was directed at Ka. The boy was aware of Sarai and pointed with his finger off in the distance and silently worded "Go"

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia's snarl in response to Mahari was deep and thunderous. He will not die! Not after everything we have been through! she snapped back furiously. When they slid into view of the company it was all she could do not to spring instantly toward Ka. Every instinct, every fiber of her being was telling her to leap to his side, to protect him, to shield the partner-of-her-mind-and-soul, but her mind was screaming for her to stay until she was needed. Her entire body quivered with readiness. She could feel the darkness, the savageness that was controlling Ka at the moment, leaking into her, bit by bit. Her stomach heaved at first, but after a few moments it was growling with hunger. She snarled and crouched down, forcing herself so stay put.

Sarai felt like smacking him. She really did. Her hands clenched into fists and she had to fight to keep her temper. She nodded vaguely at Mahari when he brought up the shield. She caught Kadaj's eyes and saw him mouth 'Go', and he pointed out into the distance. She grit her teeth and shook her head, her expression pained. She touched her mind to Kadaj's. Ka is the true bonded one to my mother. If he gets hurt or killed, then you will truly get to see an enraged dragon. I don't think you want that you to happen, or any of these other slayers want that either. she told him. She was scared about what her mother would do if Ka was hurt or, heaven forbid, killed. Before Mahari erected the arrow shield a stray one made it through, thudding into her left side just below the ribs. She grunted and went down on one knee. Ka is not in his right mind at the moment. The Allatik War awoke something savage in him that lusts for violence. He can't control it, any more than one could physically control an arrow once it has been released from the bow. she said tiredly to Kadaj. She could feel her mother shifting and growling, probably at her being hurt. She grit her teeth and forced herself to stand. Then she got an idea, but wondered if it would work. Well, she was in Reapric form, and she had been forced to use a bit of Reapric magic while in the War. She made a Void Seal and imprinted it into a slayer that stood behind her, increasing his speed so now he was more like an elf, but also covering his mind in a way that allowed her to control it. He rushed forward and yanked her back against him, holding her arms pinned with one arm while holding his sword to her throat with the other. She felt Jia surge to her feet but she hurriedly assured her mother that she was in no immediate danger. "Stand down. It's hopeless anyway; if any of us lose sight of you, she will get it, understand?" the man said gruffly. Despite her telling him to be rough, his hold on her arms and torso was light, gentle, as if he was still in control enough to do that little bit. This was a test, one that Sarai was willing to take; if Ka cherished her as much as Jia did, then he would try to curb the savageness, or something similar, to protect her. Or he would stay savage and go into True Form, which would be bad for all of them here. Damn, she hadn't thought about that. Too late now.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Ka frowned hard when Mahari and Jia suddenly appeared to 'help' him. He could have stopped the arrows and magic himself, but no, Mahari just had to be a show off. He had told them that he he didn't want them in the way for two reasons: 1. He didn't want them to see them like this, and 2. He wasn't sure how much control he would have once he started. He had been about to teleport them away when a man grabbed Sarai from behind and threaten her with a sword to her throat. This made Ka grin wickedly at the man, madness evident. "You die first then." He said, and appeared behidn the man faster than one could blink, with nothing but his hands. In one smooth motion, he aimed a fist at the man's neck. Loud cracks could be heard as the man's upper spine shattered. Before he could fall to the ground through, Ka spun around him, snatched his sword and ran it threw the side of his neck, twisted, and pulled it up, cutting his head in two. "Now then." He said casually. "Who's next." He looked at the group of men around him, wondering who would step forward after his little display. Then he remembered 2 things. "Oh and Jia, Marhari. Thank you but no thank you...tah tah." He waved, and activated a teleportation Seal under them to take them both back to Jia. The other thing was that he was still wearing the other soldier's armor. With a small flick of his hand the armor burst into flame and dissolved into his normal black hooded cloak. With another flick a purple Void Seal appeared. Reaching into it he withdrew his scythe; his weapon of until magical properties. "Now then...where were we?" He asked with a twisted smile.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Mahari lowered the shield of protection after a slayer entered through the barrier and captured Sarai. Atakai back at the farm after starting to clean up after the party he threw discovered the almost naked dead slayer. Leaving he chased after the legion of men that left. He arrived on his horse moments after the man holding Sarai captive was killed. Pushing through the crowed of bodys he entered the clearing at the center and doned his indestructible shield and greatsword both made of crysm. An ore from a fallen star. "Leave the curr to me. Continue on, I will take care of the dead" Atakai said to the Marshal in charge of the slayers. The slayer leader lowered his head in respect before the newly promoted slayer champion and waved a hand for his men ot leave. Reluctantly the large mass of soldiers started to trickle away and return to formation as they traveled down the high road.
Mahari frowned after Atakai's appearance. "This has gone to far. I will not die here today. Not to one of the order champions" He already started to word a spell of teleportation but Ka beat him to it. In the blink of an eye He and Sarai were far away from where they once were along with Jia. As soon as they materialized the cloaked Mahari started to move back in the direction of his home. But not stopping before saying. "Dont even think about it. Atakai will kill Ka. Against one of the thirteen legendary slayers from the elven prophacy..... he has no chance. If you two want to abandon all reason and fight. So be it, but I will have no part in it." Mahari spoke his mind. He would have not help Sarai or Jia. The two would be on there own if they decided to face the 'giant of Osirus" The "God killer"
With everyone else leaving only a black robed figure remained. Leaning heavily on a wooden, rune carved staff. "Hmmmm" The robed elf said. "A rider. I will be hear to aid you brother Atakai. Do try to take this one alive. I am intrested in what knowledge his mind holds" Atakai just grunted at the old elven mage with experience from the elven dragon wars. Also One of the thirteen legendary champions like him. Atakai pointed his greatsword at Ka.
"You are unwell" He said lowly after looking at the crazed look on Ka's face. "Your a danger to yourself and every living thing around you.... no more then a rabid dog" There was a pause before he spoke again. "And like a rabid dog I shall put you down" Atakai's voice was soft, caring. "I will free you from the suffering and torment of this life"
The giant of a human with the glowing magical heart shaped amulate around his neck braught up the huge greatsword in his righthand and placed the flat of the blade against his forehead. "Fight and die with what honor you may have" The elven sorcerer behind him waved a hand and cast a spell on Atakai to aid him in the fight. But what the effects would be were not known at this time. "I want him alive Atakai...." The elven mage said again. "After I question him then you can release the poor wretch from his insanity in death" If Ka thought humans were weak pethetic creatures. Atakai was about to give him a rude awakening. There still existed heroes among the race of men.
OCC: Sorry to deprive you of the slaughter Ka. But I need Kadaj and his bretheren to continue on to the beor mountains to stay true to his history. For now Atakai shall keep you company and try to capture you.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Jia saw red flash across her vision. Rabid dog. Put you down. Like a rabid dog, I will put you down. She didn't even hear anything else. She felt vaguely what Ka planned and made a Seal to counter it, but was too late. She turned on Mahari, pure fury seething in her eyes. She wanted to say something like 'I will never abandon my life-partner', but she knew that would hurt him, because that was exactly what his companion, Elsa, had done. Abandon him. But she had to say something. If he dies, I will die to. I can not live without him. she said, in a quiet voice that clashed with the fury in her eyes. Sarai go with Mahari and stay with him. I will not have you meddled in this a second time. she said firmly. She turned and unfurled her wings. She blasted into the sky and flew faster than she ever had in her life. Even with his mind blocked from hers, they were still linked together, which allowed her to find him. Before she came into sight she changed the color of her scales with a Seal, so instead of gold-lined-with-amethyst, she was black-lined-with-dark-red. She streamed into view, her darkly colored form making her obvious in the sky. She roared and dove, slamming into the ground. She raised her wings and glowered at Atakai, her crimson red eyes pulsing with fury. Unwell is correct. We were in a war recently. It awoke a bloodlust in him that occasionally rises to the surface. she said coldly, speaking so that everyone present could hear her. She had even changed the tone of her voice so that it was lighter, airier. Her pupils narrowed. I should cut you down for calling him a dog. she said calmly, lifting a paw and flexing her long talons, startlingly white against her black-red scales. She put the paw back onto the ground. I know who you are, Atakai Crowe. I'm Seeva. You want him? she looked at the mage and flicked her tail in Ka's direction. She gazed steadily at Atakai. You'll have to go through me. she challenged, peeling back her lips and snarling thunderously.

Sarai bared her teeth at her mother once she was in draconic. How much do you think I'm actually going to stay here. she growled in reply, but her mother was already gone. She grumbled some draconic curses, then glanced at Mahari. Just go back to your cave. Ka is my family and I will protect my family. That I'm sure you can understand. she said calmly. She didn't care if it hurt him or not, if was her opinion. She darted off at a flat run. She jumped into view of the others and snarled, louder than a dragon her size should have been able to produce. She was hardly threatening in size, about the size of a pony now, and obviously showing her youth, but her bristling black-gold scales added to the affect. Leave him alone. she snapped after her mother was finished speaking, eyes sparkling with rancor.

Re: Mahari the mad(Jia)
Ka watched with aggravation as his prey left him, leaving him with a rather large man instead. It was that the man's sized scared him, so much as it unsettled him. What worried Ka was the old looking elf that stood behind him, saying that he would help the man and that he wanted to know what Ka knew. Ka chuckled a bit, listening to Atakai and the old elf. "Put me down like a rabid dog will you? Well you know, even a rabid dog and bite." He sneered. About then, Jia and Sarai appeared out of no where, with their appearances changed. "Jia, I told you I didn't want you involved in this, and with good reason. You too Sarai!" He spoke softly to both of them, but it was obvious he was irritated. He stepped around the both of them and faced Atakai, twirling his scythe in his hand. "Only get involved if the elf tries anything, other wise stay back." He said, and stopped spinning the scythe, holding it in front of himself. "I'll let you make the first move..." He said, his eyes sparkling with insanity.
OOC: That woulda been good to know before I had him walk up and start something...oh well...too late now.
