Has anyone read this play by Arthur Miller? It focuses around the Salem Witch Trials and I think it's okay. Anyone else? :D

I read it for English class last year. It wasn't as terrible as some of the other stories we have to read.

Yeah, I'm reading it for English right now. It isn't that bad I guess, at least it's not that long  although I think the topic is sort of dry

Yeah I had to read it last year and write an essay on it. It's okish I suppose, but I never really was keen on the older plays. I think there's already a topic for this somewhere, but maybe that's a different site...

It was written in the 1950's and was an analogy to the Red Scare and McCarthyism here in the USA at that time.

We acted out a part of it in Drama class a few weeks ago. I played the judge, Danforth. It was actually quite entertaining, in my point of view.

We did once last year, I think I was Hale.
I know, it is a whole lot more fun acting it out than sitting around reading it. Plays are meant to be acted, not read. It's even better when the other people actually try...

lol I actually know the characters you're talking about!

I doubt we're acting it out, we're not done it yet but we are going to watch the movie of it. so i guess its okay, it's still some type of visualization for it

Same here, and the hardest thing of all is to act like a fool, or be embarassed in front of others.

I remember most of it, the witch hunt, the insanity that sweeps the town, people reviving old grudges, and being put to death for witchcraft.
