Could it be that he never returns to Ellesmera or Du Weldenvarden, just as he will leave Alagaesia later? It could be fate or circumstance, with the war and all. Then again, he has to go back to the Menoa Tree to get his weapon. It is confusing, isn't it?

I do not believe he will not return. His training is incomplete. I do, however, fear that when he does return, Oromis may be too sick to finish it; or that he may be close to passing into the void. Then who will finish his training? Erya? Vanir? Anyone else you can think of that would be as wise, patient and knowledegable and be able to take Oromis' place in the event he would die?

He must return and seak for help under the Menoa tree. If Orimis will die Eragon won't finish his trainig because no one can teach him something more (maybe galby but I'm not sure if he wants)

I do agree. He must return to finish his training AND retrieve the sword form the roots of the Menoa tree. As of the end of Eldest he has no sword, so that much we know. We are all assuming that Oromis will live long enough to finish his training, but we really don't know, do we? It's up to CP.
I have yet to go back to find out about the ending and as to what was the agreement between Eragon and Roran. I remember Eragon agreeing to help his cousin save Katrina but I want to go to the exact wording. Blasted I need to buy thoses books asap!

I think that Eragon has a very big problem-ha hasn't a weapon, he still didn't finish his training and he have to help his cousin and all those things he has to do as fast as possible. I wonder when he will starts...

Well, eragon needs a weapon if he has to help roran. That means he will probably go to the menoa tree first. That means he has to return, and maybe finish his training, but if he does that, it may be too late to save Katrina. Hmmm...

He can borrow some weapon from battlefiel-there will be a lot of free weapons

2 b fair scrounging off a battlefield is for wanderers and raiders, not riders. i still hold by my oath against oath theory wit the elf smith

Since Eragon was with the people of the Varden at the time of Murtag taking ownership of his Inheritance, there are a couple of possiblities as to what weapon Eragon shall wield:
1. the dwarves are outstanding smithys, their skill is legendary so they can make him an honorable one
2. the elves are bound to come into the battle soon enough and maybe he will receive one from the woman-elve smithy
3. the weapon under the menoa tree is "in desperate need", this we don't know if it will be later a future battle.

As I mentioned in some other post. We must all continue to have good wishes for CP so that all goes well and he finishes the book in a near future.

I do not think this will come to be. Remember the setting of this story is not so advance. I think that time traveling would not be part of this particular genre.
