Who will be the next 1? i think earagon and saphira retreive the egg, arya marry eragon, and there kid is the next 1. just a thought.....

i think that arya will be the next dragon rider because of her magic color and the fact that her magic is green. it just seems to match up in a way.

Once the dragon bonds with the rider through the gadwëy ignasia the magic begins to flow into the rider. The magic comes from the dragon. So I really think Roran has a chance to become a rider, BUT as long as Katrina lives, (after he rescues her) he will never want to be separated from her ever again, and I do not know if riders are allowed to get married. But I do know if the egg was to hatch for Roran and he was to be rider he would be a good one.

You're absolutely right. So I think Roran would be a great rider, but sadly the post about having two existing human riders makes a lot of sense. It may be that it would hatch for an elf to balance the thing a bit.

If you come to look at it he is a good guy, who does not allowed to be pused by the Empire or the Raz'ac,; he cared for the people of his village, he was brave and did what he had to do. The question would be then how can they get hold of the last egg if it were to hatch for him?

I am confused! I have mixed feelings in regards to the next rider. I would love Roran to be the one. Then again, Arya, has suffered so much, for so long and has done the best to protect Zaphira's egg. It would be foolish to say she does not deserve it, with all her efforts & dedication; she'll be the next rider. Yes, and then she and Eragon leave alagasia together on the ship and live happily ever after.

I told her about what Glader told Eragon and Saphira and all she said was, "Well maybe Orik won't have a problem. He gets along well with Saphira and respects her, so why not give himn the chance?" I can understand what she means, but....

No, I disagree with you on this one. The magic comes to the human ONCE the dragon bonds with him/her it has chooses a its' rider. Arya is inherently magical as she is an elf, so if and when the egg hatches for her, I can just imagine that her magical prowess will be magnifed.

You are correct. In the very, very remote event that the egg would hatch for him, he would be taken into DuWaldenvarden to train their with Oromis (if he's still alive) and the other elves.

If we look at things coldly, Arya will need little or almost no trainning at this time of crisis. Any other character would need extensive training as now Brom is dead and we know of no one else who can begin it. So probability and logic says it's Arya.

I have never, for an instant categorically stated that he will be the one. I merely point out that he would be a great rider. It has always been wishful thinking on my behalf. The facts are all in the book towards Arya being the balance for the riders. But I shall not despair. Maybe in Saphiras's first hatching they'll be an egg for him.

I know it seems obvious, however, at a certain point of the story when Glaedr was lecturing both Eragon and Saphira he mentioned that the dwarves were not part of the joining of consciousness. The first two to join were dragons and elves. This is why the elves are powerful in magic. The humans join later, but the dwarves found is repugnant. Review pages 438-9 in Eldest and you'll find the explanation. BUT, we never know what twist Christopher will come up with in the next book

i think would be cool is that another girl comes into the story and some how she gets the other egg and then she become the first woman Rider ( or has there been a woman rider already?)
but i think MAYBE roran could become a rider. not orik cause hes a dwarf and dwarves belong belo the ground not above it.

It would be too risky to introduce a new charater with such an important role at this point of the series. Then again, CP will do whatever he wants.

I doubt CP would suddenly just stop all this tension between Arya and Eragon so that he could just go off with another woman. From the end of book1 to the whole of book2 Eragon has been in love with Ayra; i doubt he would just give up on her. I think it would kinda ruin the book if this happened.
