Raitfier
Name: Raitfier (Pronounced 'right-fire') -Rai for short Age: Eighteen Gender: Male Hair: Cropped short, pitch black, and spiky Eyes: Fire orange/red; calm, sharp, and observant
Race: One of the last few known Allatik; and a pureblood, at that. -Allatik is a race that connects spiritually with the animal world and the earth itself. Every single Allatik has an unbreakable bond with a single certain creature (Raitfier's being Glade, a leopard, and Kipp, a red fox). In extremely rare special cases, an Allatik can have a split connection, where said Allatik has more than one spiritual bond with more than one creature. Allatik legend states that this, though rare, only runs through pure blooded Allatik's. Pure blooded Allatik's are also able to release a certain side of them that allows them to connect even more deeply with their bonded companion known as 'Release'.
Character's Physical Description: Standing at just over six foot, Rai's light caramel Allatik skin and fiery orange eyes are just some of his many handsome features. He prefers his hair cropped short and spiky, to keep it out of the way. His body is lean, slim, and well-toned. He has two birthmark tattoos, one being the shape of a leopards rosette spot on his upper right arm and the other being a rigid ring, colored almost white, all the way around his left wrist. It reminds Raitfier of thorns. He prefers being shirtless, but will where a black tunic when visiting villages or towns. His slacks are also black. when he isn't bare foot, he'll wear sandals.
Likes: Tranquility. Wrestling with Glade. Picking on Kipp. Sleeping. Dislikes: Needless death or pain, the thought of losing anything he holds dear to him, and Lukia Ursl. Fear: Losing anything he holds dear to him. Lukia Ursl. Losing hope. Not being able to move forward. Weakness: Lack of moisture in the air. Losing hope. Can't swim (But he doesn't fear the water. Much.).
Character Personality: He likes things simple but has a wild side deep within that he calls 'the kid inside him'. He favors logical solutions, but has an annoying tendency to act without thinking. Finding both his animal companions, or guardians, at a very young age gave Raitfier the upper hand when it came to maturing. He is a very calm person and prefers talking it out rather than fighting. His carefree and kid-like attitude seems to draw the more people he meets to like him. He sees things for what they really are, but likes to dream of better days, just to keep his and his friends spirits high. He tries extremely hard to be optimistic, but sometimes his pessimistic outlook on things interferes greatly. Though hesitant and cautious, he would help someone in the blink of an eye, even without knowing them. Highly observant and open minded, he's a brilliant hunter, scarcely ever missing a hit, with unique skills known only to him (so he likes to think). He enjoys the solitude and silence of being alone, but doesn't know what he'd do without his friends. Because of Allatik tradition, men, like Rai, treat woman with the upmost respect in any way possible. But being away from his people for so long, Rai has somewhat lost connection with their ways, not saying that he is any less respectful. Like most people with such an upbeat attitude, Rai has a short fuse that will make you wish you hadn't done whatever you did to set him off. Unless you're looking for some serious trouble, you'd do well not to tick him off purposefully. When he's angry. . you'd do well to stay out of his line of fire. And despite his caring nature, Raitfier has a deep dark side that even he isn’t sure of.
Home Village: Near the Beor Mountains; Orcklen Clan Parents: Mother, Lor, died of unknown disease before Lukia Ursl's attack on Rai's village. Father, Dreken, is missing, but presumed dead. Siblings: Younger sister, Kali, also missing and presumed dead. Alignment/side: He likes to say he's good, but sometimes he wonders if he truly is because of the gruesome thoughts he seems to obtain unwillingly.
Character History: Raitfier's family raised him in the Beor Mountains, where he stayed until he was thirteen years old. He had found Glade, his first guardian, at the age of six when he wandered into the village, wounded, after a fight with another animal. Dreken helped Rai heal Glade. After being healed by Rai, him and Glade connected isntantly. Lor, Rai's mother, perished from a fatal unknown disease when Rai reached the age of twelve. At thirteen, he packed a few things and left home for two years with Glade to experience what it was like to be in the outside world, away from home. While away, he found a young fox kit - abandoned from its mother - named Kipp and their bonds instantly connected. When he returned home to show his father and younger sister how much he'd grown and that he had two guardians, Rai was stricken to find that his entire family and village had been attacked. His village had basically been burned to the ground and the people who had been there - he doubted many escaped - had been murdered. In turn, Rai was forced to leave his village and be on his own now. As far as he knew, no one he had known then was still alive. He wasn't sure what had happened to his father and younger sister, whether they were even still alive. After scrounging up what he could for what he figured would be a long journey ahead, he headed off on his own with Glade and Kipp. Ever since, they've been trying to pull Rai out of this deep dark depression he seems to find himself in constantly. Glade and Kipp are happy when he shakes out of it, but disappointed when, soon after, he returns to the same state. These days, they wander around, aimlessly, just for the purpose of moving forward. He hopes one day he can purchase his own ship and explore the outside world to get away from Alagaesia and his past. To get the money to do that, he steals, mostly, even though he prefers to take on petty jobs in the villages and towns he passes through. He's also too afraid to stay in one place, for fear of starting any new connections.
Skills: - Water/Ice: Being an Allatik, Rai not only has a bond with an animal, but also an element. Each Allatik's elemental power differs and is extremely rare for any Allatik other than a pureblood to have more than one power consisting of their element. Rai, being a pureblood, can not only pull water from anywhere there is moisture in the air, but from plants as well. The water that enters his body is converted into a special liquid that has healing properties, keeping him healthy mostly his entire life, with maybe only one incident where he'd actually caught a cold. He is able to freeze water and heat it, to an extent. Not having the Fire element, it's not like he can make it boil. He has an amazing resistance to poison, making it have no effect on him at all. He can create needle like ice shards and throw them with precise aiming that hit's it's target 95% of the time, unless blocked expertly. He is basically able to control anything that is a liquid, to an extent. For instance, he could create a sphere made of nothing but water, blood, poison, etc and throw it at an opponent. He can not control a person's blood when it is inside the body. His weakness is fire, heat. If there is no water in the air, he can not create anything relating to water unless taking it out of his own body which can cause serious problems to his health.
- Release: Using a short chant, "Bak Na Tal", Raitfier is able to release a side of him he despises in every way possible because of his lack of control. This side of him allows a much higher resistance to pain and does not only make him much stronger and more durable, but much faster and more likely to adapt, assess, and quickly put out practically any problem he sees in his way, depending on the situation. It's almost as if time is slowed down for him, when instead, his actions and thoughts are quickened. When an Allatik Releases, they are basically deepening the bond between them and their companion, allowing their bodies to take over some of their animal's traits (hence the strength and endurance enhancement for Rai. This happens because of Glade's enhanced physical abilities. He obtains flexibility and adaptability from Kipp). An extremely bad downside to this form is the lack of control. Being young as he is, Rai still doesn't have full control over himself and hasn't exactly had time and practice with this form. It's almost as if the hatred, anger, and pain inside him releases itself any way it can when released. For this reason, it is only used in dire emergencies by any Allatik with sense. Each Allatik is born with a birthmark, the shape depending on their animal companion, and where on the body being absolutely random. Rai's birthmarks are symbolized by the small rosette pattern on his upper right arm and the rigid white band around his left wrist. These birthmarks also symbolize the ability to go through with the Release and his Allatik race. Using the Release renders inexperienced Allatik's (Rai being one) practically useless after reverting back. It takes days to restore full health, depending on the length of use. (a full day=three days of rest)
- Disembodiment: This skill takes almost all of Rai's energy from him and using it causes him to have to rest for a full day, at least. Allatik's have the ability to deepen their animal bond another way. Chanting "Ka ma'k te" will allow Raitfier to literally become one with Glade or Kipp. Think of it as two minds in one body, but because Rai, in a way, is Glade's and Kipp's master, he is in full control when inside their bodies.
- Rejuvenation: Allatik's are able to look young even when getting into old age. But this 'spell' gives Allatik's the ability to rejuvenate plant life (dead trees, flowers, grass, ect). Only extremely talented Allatik's can actually make plant life, Rai being lucky enough to get an education from his elders, the most talented members of a specific village. He can help bring dying plant life back to full health and has had enough practice and experience with molding the earth that he can actually make plant life where ever there may be soil, earth, or water. And because Rai's element is water, he has the ability to pull water out of thin air, making it so he almost always has the ability to create plant life.
Animal Companions: Glade - A fast and furious leopard with a beautiful coat of fur. Being roughly three times bigger than the average leopard, having twice the speed, and four times the strength, he is a worthy Allatik guardian, a.k.a. animal bond. Being a leopard gives Glade extremely enhanced abilities. Long, muscular hind legs enable leopards to leap seven times their own body length in a single bound. A leopard can also carry prey twice its weight up a tree. He makes up for the will-power and a sense of calm that Rai doesn't have. Kipp - (it is extremely rare for even a pureblood to have a cross connection between two separate animals.) A red fox who is surprisingly normal size for being an Allatik guardian. He's young and feisty and often rushes into things. Because of his youth and energetic personality, the one's around him find Kipp's non-stop talking a little. . . annoying. Being a fox, his hearing is so sharp that he can hear a watch ticking 40 yards away. Kipp makes up for Rai lacking a sense of self, where he came from, the joy in life, and what it was like to be a child and have fun.
Weapons: - Crossbow Glove: Black leather, fingerless glove hides Raitfier's left forearm- including his birthmark- usually, trailing up to his elbow. Connected to the underneath of the glove is a small, black metal cross bow that folds up and hides until he makes a fist with his hand, triggering the small contraption with his middle finger to reveal itself and unfold into a small cross bow. The way it works is that all Rai has to do is lift up on his middle finger, and an arrow will shoot out towards wherever he's aiming at. When he's lacking arrows, Raitfier uses ice shards. He carries about 5 arrows, stored within the cross bow. Flexing his hand will cause the cross bow to fold and hide once again on the underneath of the glove, it's sleek and slim framework making it unnoticeable until use. - Pocket Knife: As a just in case, Rai carries a simple pocket knife around. Wearing a dark brown leather strap around his right thigh that allows easy access. - Hook n' Chain: The thick, but extremely lightweight chain that is looped multiple times around Rai's waist works wonders for long distance attacks. Latched onto the end is a smallish sized steel hook, unbreakable so far, despite everything it's been through. The chain is a little under ten feet long.
Dreams for the Future: Explore the world, outside the land of Alagaesia and forgetting his past. Reason for Dreams: Growing up, Rai hadn't been able to leave the Beor Mountains because of Allatik law stating that no one must leave Allatik territory, period, until the age of thirteen; which is when he set off on his own, only to return two weeks later to find his village torn down and his people killed by Lukia Ursl. Now he just wants out of Alagaesia, away from Lukia Ursl, and to leave his past behind.
