I have been over the books so many times it's insane. The more I read, the more I realize Saphira has withheld a lot of information from Eragon. To mention a few in no particular order in the books are the following:

1. Brom speaks to Saphira and must have given her some important information to keep her from landing until Eragon agrees to have Brom accompany them in his quest to avenge his uncle's death.
2. Brom told her who to contact in Gil'ead in case he didn't make it there.
3. Brom allowed Saphira into his memories so that she could see other dragons.
4. Saphira catergorically assures that Brom did not get close to Eragon to watch that he did not become like Morzan.

Could Saphira know Eragon's real name?
Could Saphira know if Brom is Eragon's real father?
Could Saphira have seen Brom's memories of Selena?

How much does she really know?

Well i know that Brom isnt Eragons real father. Im thinking that this may be information that would be left for the battle with Galby or some of it. This is a good topic by the way.

I remember that when Eragon discussed the Prophecy with Saphira, She told him they would know "when the time comes" or something around those lines. She did say that the werecat had used powerful words and they were important. So there is a possiblity that she learned additional information some time after the events developed.

No, it was Eragon who shared the prohecy first with Saphira at the outsides of Teirm. Solembum met Saphira for the first time when they were both at Farthen Dûr.

This is a possibility, there is so much that Saphira is keeping to herself. And I do not think Solembum would betray these secrets to anyone, not even to Angela.

You are right, IF and that is a BIG IF, Saphira knows Eragon's real name, why haven't she told him?

Could it be that she's saving it for when the moment comes when he will need to know and use it.
Keep in mind tha Eragon immediately went to Saphira after Angela casted his future and Solembum talked to him. We also need to keep in mind that Brom flew with Saphira to try and kill the Urgals that Eragon knocked out. They flew together for TWO DAYS, and who knows what conversation may have been had between the two.
We know for a fact that Brom gave Saphira the name of the person to contact in Gil'ead. So we do not know what other information Saphira was told by Brom!

Yes. I am too exhauted to look it up just now, but Saphira said something around the lines of: You should remeber the words of the werecat, it's important. I believe Eragon asked her why and she answered something like the names he used were powerfu, Kuthian, no we should not forget or something like that.

didn't brom say something along the lines of to know ones true name can be a powerful thing may be saphira know his true name and is not telling him because she is afraid it will destroy him.

No. I remember her telling Eragon something like, "it wouldn't break YOU." and she stressed the you.
If my theory of Brom being Eragon's fatheris true father, then it would make sense that he knew Eragon's true name.

I don't know! Maybe because parents are suppose to know. I have not been able to figure out that enigma, yet.
I think that with Murtagh, Selena and Morzan must have known their son's real name and either Morzan told Galbatorix or he retrieve it from Selena or Murtagh.

It said that some went on a quest and others asked elves; and elves intintintively knew their true names. At the same time it mentions that elves did not give out that info so freely.

so how did they find there true names on a quest and does that mean that galby went on quests for thorns and murtaghs names

I really do not have the answer to that. CP doesn't give specifics on it.

Keep in mind he has lived for more than 100 yrs and I suppose that at some point he does leave the castle.

It mentions that he leaves the castle for only brief periods of time. In regrds to the quest we need to keep in mind that during those 100 years he was not always as confined to his castle as he is now.

Now this rises another question; What is going on with Galbatorix that he doesn't leave the castle and if he does, it's only for short periods of time. We know through Murtagh that he is still powerful, but why did he want Roran, Eragon and Arya taken to him? Why not he, himself go to them? It would have been a lot easier since he's so powerful. It would have been easier for him to capture them then sending so many others who failed????????

but murtagh was not alive then ( hey he has rarely left his castle since murtgh was born right?) and he may be dying

Oh I'm sorry, I was talking about Galbatorix knowing Morzan's true name.
I think this is why of all the forsworn, he was his favorite or most loyal. So it would lead for Morzan to tell Galbatorix Murtagh's real name. (That's if the parents knew their children's real name).

there was a theory that morzon was not eragons father because it said that morzon was killed 20 years ago and eragon is only 16 but i think they said they miss read it and it said killed about 20 years ago

At this time I am too wrapped up with school. The end of the semester is so close the professors are driving us crazy.

Once the semester is done, I do not intend to pick up any clsses this summer, so I will check out some theories with microscopic throughness and this is one on the ever growing list.
