 Not What, But WhenWe are all focusing on WHAT happens in Book Four.
Perhaps we should have been thinking about WHEN. Maybe Paolini will pull off a backtwist and make Book Four take place in the future. When Eragon is long dead. He'll have some teenage guy, about Eragon's age, or even a little kid, reiterate what happened in the past, long ago. They'll tell you the stories and legends they grew up hearing in the new Alagaesia. Anyone else thinking this is even remotely possible? _________________ R.I.P. Re: Not What, But When What is the point of the first three books about the character, Eragon if in the fourth book he would be long dead? It also wouldn't encourage readers if he went through so many things, painful, emotional, some traumatic experiences and in the end he just dies without winning and someone else comes in and does it? That isn't a book I want to read. That might make an alright epilogue, like in Harry Potter, but not to make it the entire book. Also if it happens in the future it would have to be after dragons mate, after dragons have eggs, and after the eggs get a dragon rider. Not to mention how long it would take to train the new riders. We don't even know how long it takes for dragons to develop and lay their eggs.
