 ReminicenceThe day was bright and warm, in the middle of summer. It was a good time to return. The bright blue sky was filled with only a few clouds that stirred slightly with every slow beat of her wings. She twisted her large muzzle around to gaze upon the small-two-legged-human-Reaper that sat upon the juncture of her neck and shoulders. Her touch was tender against his mind. Is it wise to go back after so much time? Good memories are here, if anything has changed in a bad way, the location may not feel...the same. she murmured. Although her size had changed dramatically, her mental voice hadn't.
Soft, musical, soothing like a melody. It flowed through the mind like a river. Jia, the hulking dragoness dressed in a shimmery glow of gold scales, each individual scale rimmed in a soft amethyst that only increased the beauty of the gold, stilled her wings to soar on the updrafts of wind. The giant forest before her spread in every direction as far as the eye could see, green and alive. Nothing much had changed since the last time they had visited, so long ago. Jia grinned at partner-of-heart-Ka, her teal green eyes filled with a glitter of mischief. You might want to cover your ears, my prince. she teased. She reared back, her neck arched, as she inhaled a deep breath. Her massive jaws parted to reveal razor like teeth as long as her companion-Rider was tall, and she released a deep, rolling roar the bounced through the trees, echoing for miles in all directions. The dragoness shook herself from nose to tail and surged forward with a deft flick of her wings. She was big, but she could still move pretty well for her size. And she was tired of going nonchalant and slow. I think we're almost there. It's slightly different now, being so big. she commented, passing her head from side to side to take in all there was to see. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Wiol ono Rest in peace, ILS. Re: Reminicence Reb looked to the sky, examining the forest around her as she did so. She was a warrior of old, she felt connected to this forest. She was as unchanging as the trees. She felt as old as the sky was, though she still looked impossibly young.
Her hair flew about her as the wind picked up, the multicolored strands catching and holding the light. She smiled and turned back to the ancient black dragoness behind her. Star Gazer was as old as the boulders she sat upon, an ancient among friends. The unchanging in the world. The purple lit up with the sun, her scales more beautiful than any work of art. It was time to return to the world. "My dear Star, we have been too long gone from this land. Mayhaps we should see if any of our old friends remain." How right you are Reb, dear. Many moons have passed since we interacted with anyone. I fear we may find this world different than we remember. I am willing to take that chance. Are you? Reb laughed out loud. "Is that a challenge friend? You know I can't resist a challenge." Both of their heads snapped to attention when a powerful roar shook the forest. "It seems we aren't alone after all Star Gazer." The Rider turned to her dragon and pat her side. How many times had she climbed aboard? How many adventures had they been on? It seemed they were in for another. Reb grabbed a spike and climbed onto her rightful spot upon the majestic Star. "Let's go see who made that noise." They were off. |

Re: Reminicence The wind through his silver hair, the warm sun against his cloak covered back. Sun beams bouncing off his partner-of-heart-and-mind's scales like a Godking's treasury. Ka loved flying. He didn't bother with holding onto Jia's neck spikes as the wind whipped around them, making the tail of his leather cloak fly out behind him, revealing the hilt and scabbard of his sword at his side. He was lost in his own little world when he felt the familiar touch at his mind.
"My dear, this forest is older than the bother of us combined a thousand fold. If there is change it will be because it wished it, and I very much doubt it would wish harm to itself." Unlike his partner's mental voice, his had changed with age. No longer did it match his body as it did when he was still a youngling. Now it resembled that of a dragon's; deep and rolling like thunder, but as gentle as a summer's breeze. It carried the note of experience and wisdom, with an undertone of playful mischief. He looked down at the rich green trees of the elven forest, Du Weldenvarden. The forest held many memories for them, but they came seeking one in particular. To him it seemed as if it had been only yesterday and a thousand years ago at once. A smile began to creep across his face before Jia said a word to him. He could feel her want for speed, her spark of mischief, even before she gave away the tale-tell signs. Her roar sent a shiver down his spine, as it always did, and always would. He could feel her energy through their link, and let out a booming call of his own, though it was more than drowned out by her mighty roar. A bark of joyous laughter left him as she surged forward, causing his stomach to drop a bit. He loved that feeling. He did agree that the forest was a bit different from their memories of it since it had expanded it's borders, but even so, that place shouldn't be too hard to find, not with both of them looking for it. Re: Reminicence The gold had to hum in response to his sound logic. And also the Menoa tree, she doubted, would allow her forest of sapling-tree-children to ever come to harm. Jia grinned wolfishly at the sound of his boyish whoop of joy. Hold on now, my prince. she cautioned before she spread her massive wings and soared even higher, above the clouds.
She hung there in the sky, gazing around at the beauty of Du Weldenvarden. Nothing but fields of green. The dragoness snorted, trickles of flame snaking along her neck back to the saddle that her companion-of-heart-and-mind sat in. Her jaws parted and she bugled eagerly as she swept her wings forward and down and back in a rowing motion, which tipped her forward and sent her speeding back down to earth. A faint mental presence caught her attention. Ah, we are not alone here. They feel familiar. One is dragon for sure. she commented, shifting the direction of her flight so she would come across them. Her next call was a welcoming roar. Greetings to you! This is Johdzsia, with my partner of heart, Ka. Who goes there? she called out warmly. Re: Reminicence Star Gazer threw her wings out and slowed to a halt, hovering over the ground. She had heard the call as clear as day, she wasn't sure whether she knew the dragon and rider pair. Reb, I am unsure of the identity of the individuals, names can be repeated. Do you think we should reply?
Reb pat Star Gazer on her massive shoulder. " I do not think they could truly present harm at this distance. Making ourselves known is probably for the best. If we remained silent, they could very well take that as a threat." She felt Star's agreement through their connection. "You are a Queen. I feel like you should introduce us. Your word would mean more." Star Gazer agreed. If they didn't know this dragon, it would probably be wise for Star Gazer to make the first contact. She refused to risk her Rider. Star let her senses flare and soon found the presence of the others. Hello Johdzsia and her partner of heart, Ka. My name is Star Gazer, Queen of the Dragon Mountains, and my rider Reb. We have long since made contact with others, so we may be unknown to you. We shall be friends in as much as you remain friendly. Shall we meet face to face? Star Gazer let her words flow out of her mind as she hovered in the air. Her size made hiding quite a challenge. She was an ancient, her wings and bulk was still able to move with speed, but unable to be hidden as well should there be need. She had purposely chosen to omit the fact that her rider was part shade. Her bulk and her rider's race wouldn't make them appear as friendly as Star had stated. Best keep things to ones self until one knew who could be trusted. |

Ka grinned a bit at Jia warning before she took off up into the sky. He closed his eyes and focused on the sweet feeling of the wind, his hands loose by his side, a smile on his face. Once she leveled off he opened his eyes again and looked around, truly able to appreciate how massive the elven forest was from this height. He reached out and let the fire from Jia's snort brush past his hand, warm but not burning. As Jia began her decent, he too caught the feeling of someone else. They weren't exactly close, but they were still strong enough to be felt at this distance. He let Jia greet them and then awaited their reply. "Well well, it seems as if we are in the presence of royalty, Jia. He said just to Jia, then to the unknown pair, "It is a pleasure to meet you Queen Star Gazer and Rider Reb. It has been a fair amount of time since we've encountered anyone as well, and do not wish our first after such a time to be hostile. Re: Reminicence Jia blinked in surprise when the names of those nearby was announced. She almost wiggled with excitement in the air, but she knew Ka wasn't a fan of her doing that. She waited patiently for her companion-of-heart-and-mind to finish speaking before she tapped his mind. I know them. Even after so much time, no one else would claim to be Queen with the same name as Star Gazer, and with the same Rider as Reb. she told him excitedly.
She increased the beats of her wings and called out with a bugle once again. My friends like to call me Jia, as my partner has called me. You don't happen to remember a small golden dragoness with amethyst between her scales do you? Perhaps with another hatchling, black with gold between her scales? Or you might know my older brother, Zeke Blindscale. The large golden dragoness swept down from above the clouds. Her bulk sent the gathered-moisture-of-flutty-white-stuff spinning in all directions. In the distance she saw a large dark purple blob in the sky. That had to be Star. She released a thin jet of warm-golden-fire to greet the Pair as they approached each other. I've grown quite a bit since then. she grinned teasingly, her soft teal eyes bright, though unfocused. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Wiol ono Rest in peace, ILS. Re: Reminicence Star Gazer searched her memories and indeed the image of a small golden dragon was there. She grinned a toothy grin that widened as the other pair came closer. Jia had indeed grown up. A bit? You are glorious now. It has been a long time since I met you Jia but I do remember you as an adorable hatchling. Star let loose a stream of purple flames in greeting.
Reb smiled as she shared Star's mind, seeing the memories just as her dragon did. The golden shape, growing larger by the second shared only a name and coloring with the small creature in Star's head. Reb watched Star let loose flames and to add her own greeting Reb flicked out her hand, commanding the flames to take on a cone shape and a black tinge before disapearing.
