uh (a) eragon has been through the training. and (b) even with more training it won't be exaclty the same as eragons.

Which is why it needs to be Roran. Roran has to be trained and that way Eragon can train him if Oromis dies before the training is over.

I don't agree with that. I find that wile he has thought up many points there arn't that many legitimate ones. the next rider will be either Nasuada or an unknown character since a dragon isn't going to pick Nasuada, Roran or Arya because they're main characters.

I keep on thinking on the "hints CP says he has given as to who will be the next Rider and my conviction on Ayra being the one is beginning to falter.

Just think about this, at the end of Eldest, this conversation took place between Roran and Eragon:

"Roran was silent for so long, Eragon began to wonder if he would ever respond. Then: "You have made mistakes, but they are no greater than my own. Garrow died because you kept Saphira a secret. Many more have died because I refused to give myself up to the Empire.... We are equally guilty." He looked up, then slowly extended his right hand. "Brother?"
"Brother," said Eragon.
He gripped Roran's forearm, and they pulled each other into a rough embrace, wrestling to and fro as they used to do at home. Who can stand against the two of us? Is CP foreshadowing the possible strength of the two as Riders? The both have the determination and a goal, a reason to stand together against him.


Think back on how many times CP has made reference to the "farmer boy" and how far the "farmer boy" has come. Not only Eragon, but Roran too.

What about this other excerpt:

Then Garrow's words to them as Roran was about to go to Therinsford:
"Consider none your superior, whatever their rank or station in life." (Eragon 64)

At first I did not make much of this; but what if Garrow knew their blood lineage and never mentioned it?
Why were both Garrow and Selena described as proud people? Maybe because they were aware of their ancestor's noble lineage?
Why if Garrow knew how to read and write, he never instructed the boys in their letters, but only in their numbers?

What if CP is throwing red herrings leading us to believe the obvious, that Ayra will most surely be the next Rider? Then he mentions the color of the magic not being necessarily of one definitive color? That it can change depending on the Rider?

My only big ? is Katrina. Will she die and her death be the force that will drive Roran to exact revenge from the Empire, AKA, Galbatorix/the Ra'zacs?

you go anne shot down all the other idea's cp is not making it out there but in the chapeter ex. they are both at the raz'ak(sp) hideout and the parent of the raz'ak(sp again) is the first to attack and attack hard and fast it did. i think that they get caputred then at the point all will be lost and eragon will speak his name in the valt of soles and get the stranth (sp) to defeat gaby with roran distracting mudtha (sp) then the riders will be reformed and i will lay down money if this is wrong not much ten saphira coins.

Littleboo85, I have read and listened so many times to both Inheritance books that I can locate an excerpt in a jffy. So I decided to give it a rest for a bit. Now I'm listening to the Half-Blood Prince CD'S and I do not find them boring at all. But that's just me.

think how fast eragon learned? after you add up brom and oromis it was just like 4-5 months... i think. so why not roran?

I think that was more like a year because at the end of the book Eldest he was sixteen and when he started out he was 15 so that took like a year.

well, out of all the likely candidates in the majorities opinion: (Arya, Roran, Nasuada, Elva, even Katrina) Roran may be a likely candidate, but i think he is likely to lead the varden. I think Nasuada will be the next rider cause CP has hinted a MAJOR change in her character.

no. that is crazy. there is a change in HER character, and there IS such thing as unrequited love in a book. that one quote can NOT be the basis of a theory unless there is nothing to support the other possibilities. the Arya theory has more evidence AND all evidence aside, she has more chance anyways.

about the weapon thing, at least Eragon used a real weapon!!! Roran now has to train for a sword AND bow. you don't just become great at swordsmanship overnight!!! he'd take WAY too long to get good with weapons, and magic, and riding, and reading, and all the other stuff Eragon has trained for with Oromis. All the time that training has taken Eragon with Brom plus the time with Oromis, plus learning archery is more time than Oromis has, and it would take WAY too long.

no. he didn't. he trained for a long while. don't make up facts.

you are only looking at two possibilities. there is no evidence to support it being that specific one and change doesn't specify major or minor.

Ok how about this idea. Since Glaby is probobly keeping the egg in his fortress they might not get it till they get galby out of his castle and away from the area. i doubt that will come in till the second half of the book more towards the end. that is when they would find the egg and a new rider will be chosen later. And there is no reason why Roran HAS to learn to use a bow and he might already know.Arya is no more eligable to become the next rider than anyone else going by evidence. Neither parties have enough TRUE evidence to point to the one they think is the next rider. All it really is is a matter of oppinion. For all we know it could be Joed (not that im saying it will be)

she is the only character we know of that has a chance and is a female Elf. only with a female elf can there be balance. a male human would be COMPLETE imbalance.

probability: she is an elf and by default has more of a chance of being chosen. she is a powerful elf and she requires little training, which is good for time.

Even if she did become rider, there would still be an imbalance because there would only be one female elf and 3 male riders. That doesn't seem balanced to me.

But there is another female who could be a rider that you say is not possible. Nasuada.
The first book took place over 6 months, the second was a bit longer. who knows how long the thrid will be. i doubt time is as big an issue as your making it out to be.
The "evidence" you say you have is a handful of little facts that mean nothing in the choice of a rider. Green magic? no matter what color your magic is you can be paired with a dragon of different color and your maic color will change.
Arya is the only one in YOUR oppinion that has a chance but you arn't looking past that.
