Post The Lone Path
Daidrea opened his eyes and found himself staring at the night sky. It amazed him how many stars there were and always fell asleep trying to count them at night. He was laying back on a high tree branch. Daidrea always felt better being up in the air. Maybe it was just a way for remembering his lost dragon, Elyrana. A hole or a missing piece was still missing from his mind...and his heart.

However he did find peace wandering in the great forest of Du Weldenvarden. Not having to worry about the outside world... no fighting... just himself to world's nature around him. Although from time to time Daidrea wondered if his life had any true meaning. He had met friends...fought battles...travel. But nothing seemed to have any meaning. Was there really a purpose for him?

As Daidrea was thinking to himself, something caught his eye. Smoke was rising to the northeast. Also the glow of fire. He decided to investigate and jumped down from the tree. Being cautious he made his way over to the area. After a few minutes he had entered a small clearing in the forest. In the center was a large fire, but surrounding it were dead humans. Daidrea went over to one and kneeled...inspecting the corpse. No physical injuries, so it must have been something of magic. His ear twitched as he heard a twig break. Daidrea pulled out his blade and turned towards the sound.

Post Re: The Lone Path
Ecco crept silently through the trees, in elf form. The lithe body of an elf was best for traversing the deep forests of Du Weldenvarden, and she was much less noticeable than when she was in dragon form. The scent of smoke and fire was creeping past her, drawing her curiosity. Something was occurring, and it could mean danger or adventure. Fire in the forest was not natural, and usually it meant some evil or danger was afoot if it was instigated by something. Ecco was moving swiftly, eager to find out what had happened.

As she drew nearer to the fire, the orange glow could be seen through the dark tree-trunks. The elf stayed in the shadows, moving quickly from tree to tree and staying silent as she moved. If there was anything she excelled at, it was stealth. One had to learn stealth if they lived in the places Ecco had. As she crept around another tree, she could make out the distinct flames in the center of a clearing, with several dark shapes around. Bodies? Of whom? she thought, edging forward but keeping to the forest.

A dark shape drew out of the darkness on the other side, and Ecco jerked her foot back in surprise. She frowned and mentally scolded herself when the quick movement resulted in her stepping on a twig. The one time I make a mistake, and now I'm going to be caught. What if this is the one who did this? she thought in annoyance. Though she doubted that the man in the clearing had caused the fire or death. He had seemed as curious as she when he stepped into the open, and now he seemed alert and alarmed as he searched for the source of the noise. Ecco sighed, deciding to reveal herself. If she tried to stay hidden but was found, it wouldn't exactly make her look innocent.

Before I come out, I can assure you that I know as little about this as you. So, if you'll be so polite, I'd appreciate it if I wasn't attacked, Ecco called out mentally with a smile. She slowly drew away from the tree, separating her silhouette.

Daidrea was at first suprised. However he was still cautious by keeping his blade steady. "Who are you?", he said in a calm voice. When he saw an elf appear from the trees, he put his blade away but still watched her carefully.

The smell of the burning wood and decay of bodies made Daidrea uneasy. Their deaths were caused not of the norm. However he could not deal with the mystery at the moment.

Daidrea's gaze did not leave the elf...but it was not of hate or accusing. Just that out curiousity and anxiousness. He repeated his question and in a little more friendly voice, "Who are you?"

Ecco was relieved by the other elf's seeming lack of hostility, though she still remained at the edge of the clearing. "I'm Ecco. And your name would be?" she asked with a friendly smile. She took a few more steps forward, too curious to resist. She had to get a closer look at the bodies, and see what had killed the humans. However, there were no defining marks or injuries that had seemed to cause their death. Ecco was convinced that some magic had slain them as she examined one. Only magic would leave no trace; even sickness or poison would leave a scent or some expression of pain on the victims.

When Daidrea could tell that it was safe, he relaxed and smiled slightly himself. "I am Daidrea, it is a pleasure to meet you Ecco." Once she was much closer, Daidrea looked at the female elf more closely. She was of average size, slender and had black hair. What got him most was her blue eyes that he seemed to get lost in for a moment then refocused.

"I wish we could have met under better of circumstances Ecco, rather than this at least. I was drawn by the smoke and then saw this."

Ecco's friendly smile returned, though it was shadowed by the death around her. "Well, it's hard to meet under good circumstances when death and war travel to every corner of the land. But I'm happy to meet you, too, Daidrea. I came to investigate this too when I smelled the smoke... Magic probably killed these people, but I can't tell what kind," she replied, her smile turning into a small grimace as she examined the bodies once more. Whoever or whatever had caused this could still be lurking somewhere amidst the forest, ready to strike at something else. Ecco frowned and looked at the fire. "Ugh. Putting out that fire might attract attention, but it seems insensitive and perhaps unwise to let it burn," she grumbled, summoning a thin blue-white sheen over her fingertips to summon a little ice. She didn't really understand what drove her to put the fire out, but it felt like the right thing to do.

OOC: I'm too used to using my critters. I keep putting dialogue in italics and then remembering she's an elf right now. lol

OOC: Lol! It happens.

Daidrea nodded his head in agreement. "It would also may be a good idea to leave the area. Some one may have noticed the smoke disappear." Daidrea looked to all the corpses. He felt it would be wrong to just leave them. After inspecting an open area, he put out one of his hands, facing the ground. The earth descended and seperated as a decent sized hole formed. Afterwards he began lift up all the corpses and placed them into the hole. Once he finished he moved all the dirt back over the hole.
"I have a hut not too far from here. Would you like to join me Ecco?"

Ecco felt the ground under the flames suddenly grow cold with the ice she was lacing through it, and the flames flickered and died into tiny, glowing embers. She nodded at Daidrea, and watched as he buried the bodies. That seemed like the right thing too, though if whoever caused this came back, they'd know something was up. Ecco nodded as Daidrea suggested going to his house. "Yeah. If whoever did this comes back, it'd be best to be away from here," she replied. It would be safer, and more fun, she admitted, to stay with this elf for a while. Perhaps they could work out what had killed the men. Any adventure seemed like fun to Ecco. The faint blue light disappeared from around her fingers, and she dropped her hand back to her side as she stepped lightly across the clearing.

"Very well, follow me." Daidrea turned and faced south and waited until Ecco was behind him. Once she was, he began running at a decent pace so that he was not going to fast. Although he had no doubt that she could keep up, he felt that he should at least be some what polite despite the situation. As they were progressing, a sudden shock hit Daidrea's mind that caused him to stop in his track.
A voice spoke in his head. It is drawing close Daidrea...you hope that it does not catch up to you. Or you will be swallowed by the darkness. Afterwards there was a long maniacle laugh.
Daidrea had no doubts that it was his dark opposite, Aerdiad.

Daidrea was on his knee with a hand on his face.

Ecco grinned and raced off after Daidrea, her pace quick and, as always, quiet. Her footsteps made barely a sound on the soft forest floor. As they were running, she jerked to a sudden stop behind Daidrea, and moved quickly around him to his side in alarm when he fell on his knee. Something was obviously quite wrong; it almost seemed like a mental attack. She gave him space until she saw him stir, unsure of what was happening. "Are you okay? What's wrong?" she questioned with concern, crouching next to the elf. What if this was the thing that had killed the men? Or something equally threatening? Or even more threatening? Ecco shook her head, banishing her worries as she waited for Daidrea to respond.

Daidrea shook his head, trying to regain focus. While Daidrea was trying to recoop, he felt a hand from Ecco touch his shoulder. At that moment, a flash of Aerdiad appeared in her mind. He was the mirror image of Daidrea but instead he had black eyes, pale skin, and black markings all over his body and face.
Aerdiad grinned at the mental image of Ecco and began laughing. Immense dark energy swirled around him and in an instant he vanished from Ecco's mind.
This time Daidrea was watching with concern back in reality. "You saw him didnt you? I'm sorry...

OOC: Apologies if it seemed slightly god-modish, just wanted it to work.

IC: Ecco frowned as a mental image passed through her mind. The elf in her vision looked like Daidrea, but evil, and possibly demented judging by his laugh. The image faded, and Ecco shook her head to clear her sight. She looked back at Daidrea, who seemed to have returned back to his full senses. She nodded slowly in reply. "Yeah, I saw him. I'm not entirely sure who he is, but he doesn't look like the nicest person to be around. Who is he?" she replied, with a small hint of humor despite her concerns.

The more darkness I am around, the worse it gets." Daidrea stood up and rolled his shoulders. "Sorry about that, come it is not far from here. Follow me."
Daidrea began running at the pace he was before.

Ecco stood with Daidrea, concern written across her face. This elf had some sort of dark half, apparently, which could spell out a whole assortment of dangers. Ecco was curious though, of how he could even gain a "dark side". Daidrea seemed quite nice, not the sort of person to have evil inside them, waiting to spring up. But the emergence of it, according to Daidrea, also meant there was dark magic in the area. Ecco stepped off after the elf, wondering what was creating the dark magic. "Something had to have created dark magic, then, right? Do you think it could be stronger near whoever killed those men?" she asked, wondering if Daidrea had any more thoughts on the matter.

Daidrea kept moving. "I'm not sure.. It could be something of dark properties or some one wielding dark magic. In either case it's going to be dangerous." After about an hour, the trees and brush were growing thicker and thicker to the point where you had to squeeze by them. "It's just up ahead."
Daidrea slipped inbetween another pair of trees and came upon a clearing. It formed a circle, almost a dome with the surrounding trees. There was a small opening in the center letting in moonlight.
Towards the back and slightly raised land was a small hut. "Please follow me, I have some food and tea inside."

Ecco glanced at Daidrea when he mentioned that it would be dangerous. Well, I kind of thought that when I saw all the dead bodies in the clearing, but thanks for confirming my suspicions, she said with a good-humored laugh. There was no reason she couldn't feel cheerful despite the dangers that could surface at any moment. She followed the elf into a clearing, and glanced around, taking in the dark shapes of the trees and the small hut in front of them. She walked after Daidrea with a grateful nod. Well, that's good. I am kinda hungry, I suppose, she replied, stepping out of the trees toward his home.

Daidrea went inside the small kitchen and opened the cabinet. He pulled out a large bowl and poured some water in. He took plenty of vegitables with herbs and spices and placed it next to the bowl. Daidrea turned and opened a metal chest that was chilled. Opening it he reached for some deer meat inside.
Although it was uncommon for elves to eat meat, he didnt mind it. Why deny being higher on the food chain?
He cut the meat into several bits and put them into the bowl. He then grinded down the herbs and spices with the vegitables and put them into the bowl also. After mixing it thoroughly, he heated with a quick spell. While he let it heat, he put tea on to boil.

"So...tell me Ecco, what house of elves do you reside in?"

Ecco stood near the wall, leaning against it as she observed Daidrea prepare some food. She couldn't deny the empty feeling in her stomach, and thinking about eating was only making it worse. She glanced up, mildly surprised, at Daidrea's question. "Well, I s'pose I should let you know that I'm not exactly a normal elf... I don't really belong to any "house," though there is a group I'm descended from. A group of elves that moved to the northern islands, that called themselves the Shamans. I don't even know if the elves in Du Weldenvarden knew much about them," she replied, a little uncertainly. She wasn't sure yet if she should reveal any more about her rather unique past, or how Daidrea would take it if she did. Though, the fact that he had the "evil half" (an oddity of his own) probably meant he was more open to oddities than most.

Once he was done he went with the bowl and tea in his arms to a small table in the next room. Placing everything down, he motioned for Ecco to sit.
"I suppose I can share that I really dont belong to a house either. I was orphaned before I can even remember. Mostly on my own."
Daidrea began eating his food.

Ecco drew out the chair and took her seat, relieved that she would not have to explain anything else, at least for the moment. It was actually somewhat strange, she thought, that she had not told anyone about the more interesting parts of her past. She would have time to think up what to say if the matter ever came up.

She paused for a moment as she was picking up some of the food, glancing at Daidrea. Really? That probably wasn't fun. Family's a sad thing to miss out on. If you don't mind my asking, how were you orphaned? she asked. Though she wasn't quite ready to say any more about her own early life, Ecco didn't have any qualms about asking about others'. Her curiosity was rather too strong to resist.

Back then it was all natural to me...so I never did pursue what happened to my parents. I just moved on I suppose." Daidrea paused for a moment and then asked, "Are your parents still alive?"

Ecco nodded sympathetically as Daidrea spoke. She could understand what he said, but if it had been her, she would have searched for answers. But not everyone was as determined to get information as she was, even if the information was trivial. She felt a small, icy jolt when Daidrea asked about her parents. Her parents were dead... her dragon parents and elf parents. She always felt cold when reminded of her actual parents, the ones that had brought her elf persona into the world. She had never known them, never known she had had them until after they were gone. She slowly shook her head at Daidrea's question, her gaze downcast. No. They were killed by Galbatorix's men. Our islands weren't as protected by spells and soldiers as Du Weldenvarden. I guess everyone relied too much on the elements to shield them, she answered sadly. With all the dangerous evil people in the world, especially Galbatorix, it was hardly a surprise to find an orphan every week.

Daidrea listened intently as he finished his food and drank his tea. When she finished, Daidrea was leaning in his chair with his drink in hand. He could tell she had a deep connection with her parents. "I never had the opportunity to have any connection with my parents. The first true connection I had...was with my dragon. Elyrana." Daidrea paused slightly and showed his scarred insignia on his palm. "When I lost her, I never felt so dead inside. My mind was shattered and my heart was empty. Even though much time has passed... I still have missing pieces of my mind and a gap in my heart." Daidrea placed his insignia hand over his chest. "She was everything to me and I to her." Daidrea got up to his feet. "Never been the same since."
He went back to the kitchen to get a refill and brought another one to Ecco as well and sat back down.
Daidrea sat quietly now, just drinking his tea.

Post Re: The Lone Path
Ecco's sympathy grew at Daidrea's next explanation. He had been a dragon rider? How terrible it would be, to lose someone so close to your soul... Ecco had never been or met a dragon rider (she doubted she could be one) but she had heard about them. She knew how close the bond was that supposedly linked the pair, and she had heard stories of what happened to some who lost their partners-of-mind. Ecco shook her head at the use of dragon terminology and quickly finished the remainder of her food. I'm sad to hear that, Daidrea. I've heard of how close dragons and riders are, but I don't think I could really understand what it's like to lose someone that close, she replied, accepting the refilled tea and taking a thoughtful drink. A faint rise in curiosity drove to the surface, though, and she was forced to ask another question. Was she not able to retreat to her Eldunari? she asked, and retretted it immediately after. Normal elves weren't supposed to know about that...

The question caught Daidrea slightly off guard. Then he recovered and spoke slowly. "She did, I did have it. However she said she couldnt live the way she was and told me to break it. At first I refused, but she told me that I had to let her go and that it would save her from suffering. So that she could never be captured and exploited. I destroyed it without even looking. Afterwards I even thought about ending my own life. I just couldnt do it." Daidrea chugged the rest of his tea and placed his arms on the table and placed his chin on top.
"Sorry if I caused a terrible mood. It's just whenver I think about what happened... I get this way."

Ecco nodded sadly. It was understandable that she wouldn't want to live like that. Ecco thought for a moment. I have an Eldunari... but does it work for me? My mind's not really a dragon's... Would I want to live like that? as usual, her head was filled with questions, and some of these were very troubling. Elyrana had made a decision that could possibly be counted as noble, considering part of her reasoning was so she could not be exploited. Ecco shook her head at Daidrea's apology. "It's alright. I understand. Sometimes memories can bog you down. Luckily, not all of them are bad, though," she said with a small smile.

Daidrea smiled slightly at Ecco. After a few moment of silence, Daidrea got up and cleared the table. When he reentered the room, he was curious. "So...you have a dragon form? Are you originally a dragon or an elf?" Daidrea's curiousity grew of Ecco. Also that he liked her. More than a normal person oddly.
Daidrea was anxious to find out more about her.

Ecco laughed, figuring she'd have to explain everything. It didn't really matter that much; she didn't have anything to hide. "Well, I was born an elf, but my body was dying from sickness. And some dragon friends of my parents had an egg that had succumbed to the cold. I'm not sure how they did it, but they transferred my conciousness into a new body. And somehow I retained my shapeshifting powers, which the Shaman elves are kinda known for. But I never knew my elf parents; they and my dragon parents died before I knew I wasn't really a dragon," she explained with a shrug. The early parts of her history were rather unique, but she didn't really want to make a big deal of it.

Daidrea laughed slightly. "It never ceases to amaze me what dragons can do. You think you know their limits until they suprise you with something." Daidrea got up and went back into the kitchen and cleaned up the dishes he used.
When he returned he said, "Well Ecco, I think we should retire for the night... its getting late. Um.. I only got one bed, so feel free to take it. I'll just rest myself outside. Dont worry about me, the trees are so thick out here they trap in alot of warmth."

Ecco smiled and nodded, agreeing with that statement. Dragons were quite amazing, and despite her odd "birth", she felt happy to be somewhat a part of their race. She stood up when Daidrea said it was probably time for sleep, and gave a small frown when he insisted on her taking the bed. "Well, if you're sure. I'm quite used to sleeping outside," she said, feeling it a little imposing to take someone's bed. She knew he was just being polite, though. If she had a home, and had guests, she'd most likely do the same.

"No please, stay inside. I insist." Daidrea nodded slightly as a goodnight and went outside. A small grassy hill caught his eye and he went over to it and laid back. Gazing through the small opening of trees, he could see several stars in the sky. Daidrea counted them until he fell asleep.

Ecco nodded. "Alright. Thank you, for the place to sleep and the food and everything," she said with a cheerful smile. She watched as Daidrea left and wandered outside, and then turned back to his dark home to locate the bed. With a yawn, she sank down into it and sleepily pulled off her boots and weapons belt. Actually, sleeping in a bed for once is quite nice, she thought with a smile as she lay down. She had been traveling all day, and was still not quite used to overland travel. Being more tired than usual, she fell asleep quickly.

OOC: Time for a time skip. 8)

IC: Ecco snorted as she jerked awake, and found herself rather entangled in what blankets had been on the bed. Maybe that's why I shouldn't sleep in beds... she thought with a laugh. She sat up and slowly untangled herself.

Daidrea was in a peaceful sleep. He didnt even dream... the world was so quiet around him. One could easily hear his steady breathing....rising and falling. Daidrea slowly opened his eyes.
It is too quiet... the forest should be alive... its spring. Daidrea sat up and looked around. The trees are silent...something is bothering them.

Something was watching him, he could feel it. However he couldnt sense anything. So he felt it was a good idea that Ecco should be woken. Not wasting any time, he went into the hut. Once he came upon his room he knocked on the door.
"Ecco, I'm sorry to disturb you, but I need you to get up. There's something outside."

Ecco was in the process of tugging on her boots when she heard Daidrea's knock. With a brief pause, she extended her mind outside the hut, and quickly saw what he meant. The forest was still and silent, and it felt as if something were peering at them. She quickly strapped on her weapons belt and stood, darting to the door and opening it quietly. "What do you think it is?" she asked Daidrea in a hushed voice, glancing into the dark shadows between trees. Even her sharp elf eyes could not make out what the threat was, but something was there.

Daidrea shook his head, "I do not know, I do not sense anything. Nothing of malice or evil. No energy....just nothing. Yet it still feels like there is something out there." Daidrea motioned for Ecco to step out of the room and follow him to a window near the front of the house. Looking out, he scanned along the tree lines searching for any signs of life.
Whispering to Ecco, "Whatever it is... I dont like it. Not know what your up against puts alot of fear in me."

Ecco listened with a frown, concerned about what Daidrea said. She had been hoping he had picked up something she missed, because she couldn't sense anything either. It was as if their enemy was invisible and undetectable, and it made her uneasy. She didn't like the feeling; it felt like she was being cornered. She stepped swiftly after the other elf and into the room, both staring out the window with unease. The forest looked so still, and the dim colors of early morning had not yet brightened, which only added to the shadow. "I agree with you there... Do you want to wait here for whatever it is to show itself? Maybe we could go find it," she suggested, feeling curious. Also, she knew the feeling of being in a corner would go away if she went out to search.

Daidrea didnt exactly like going head on with the unknown. However whatever it was it refused to reveal itself. Not sure what else to do, he nodded at Ecco. "Very well, we will go investigate. Just be careful." Daidrea moved from the window and went to the front door. He slowly opened it and peaked outside. Still seeing nothing he stepped outside with a hand on his blade....not taking any risks.

Daidrea edged towards the tree line. He scanned along them searching for any signs of movement. Still nothing, he placed a hand on a tree next to him. He asked why it was silent. There was no answer...the tree made no response and remained still.

Out of no where was a thud. And another...and another. Something was moving. Daidrea could feel it drawing closer....and the closer it was...fear just pooled into him. He didnt know why...he just completely froze. Unable to move an inch. Suddenly something massive came into sight...what he saw horrified him. It was a beast that looked like a dragon...but its whole body was decaying of flesh and bones were showing. Greenish liquid seeped from its maw...the lips were completely ripped off and showed decaying gums and rotten and broken teeth. It growled with each breath it took and everytime it breathed it seemed like its decay spread to everything around it with a foul stench. Boths its eyes were missing yet it still somehow was able to see. As it grew closer...shrieks filled his mind. It sounded like hundred of dragons in writhing agony howling all at once pierced his mind and ears.
Was this it?

In desperation he reached out to Ecco. ECCO.....RUN....NOW!

Ecco trailed cautiously after Daidrea, her eyes constantly scanning the forest. As she grew closer to the trees, an odd smell hit her nostrils, and a feeling of dread ripped through the air as suddenly as the thud pounded in her ears. In a few more moments, the monstrosity revealed itself. Ecco stood, frozen in place, staring in horror at the monster. The decaying dragon-like creature was horrendous, and she could hear what sounded like the agony of a hundred dragons. The sound, touching her emotions more than the sight, made her shiver. She reacted with a jump at Daidrea's words. Making sure he did not stay, she began backing away, preparing to spring around and bolt away.

Daidrea struggled to move, but his body refused. The creature had its snout right next to Daidrea. The stench was unbearable...he felt like he was going to pass out. His fears kept him conscience..
Suddenly the shrieks had stopped in his mind and the creature was gazing at him. Mustering up the courage, he spoke to the creature in his mind. What....What are you?
There was no response at first but then a deep, menacing voice entered his mind.
I? I am the monument to all your sins. The symbol of all evils commited....the entity of shadows in every beings heart. The being was speaking to both of them.
Daidrea did not understand fully....now his fears were disappearing and confusion took its place.
I am the creation of evil. Through the blood of thousands of every living being that left this world wrongfully courses through me. For specificly the near extinction of dragons. Souls of the unwilling were bound to this earth. Thus I was born. I seek the ones who spill blood mindlessly and seek retribution. Ultimately I am eternal...as long there is the cycle of death. I will always exist.

Ecco paused as she backed away, noticing that Daidrea seemed rooted to the spot. She edged forward when he stared to the creature, curious of what it would say. When she heard its words, she was apalled. "Is it not a painful existence to be formed from those who died wrongfully?" she ventured sadly, thinking over what it must be like to be the creature. True, it could do some good if it hunted out ruthless killers, but its existence could never be a good one. "Why are you in this forest? Does it have to do with the one who killed the men farther on?" she asked. Though the creature was quite horrible and gruesome to look at (and smell), she felt a pang of sadness coursing through her heart when she heard about what it was, and could not help asking more about it.

Pain, Agony, Anger, Hate, Fear, Despair, Misery, Sadness, Sorrow... I am all these things. My existance as I said is out of the evils souls commit. The beast-like dragon seemed to repeat itself. I am eternal...
Turning its head towards Ecco, it stated. I am not the cause of the deaths. However it is a reason why I arrived here. Those men were slaughtered by some one very dark. I do not know who. I do not actually pray on the living...but here to show myself to them to hopefully change their ways. If they do not...their souls will never find peace.

Daidrea still remained completely still and fearful. He was still unsure if he could trust this...thing.

Ecco listened to the creature describe its existence. It seemed very matter-of-fact about itself, which was rather odd to her. She gave a slow nod when it said that it only tried to reform those who killed. "Well, I guess that's better than killing them... it gives them a chance to make up for past wrongdoings and such," she said with a shrug, not sure how to continue. Finally, she risked asking another question. "Are you trying to find the one who murdered those men? Why are you coming through here?" she ventured. Hopefully it was just passing through. That was more likely, at least.

I pass through here because he has darkness with in him. I sensed it. That is the only reason. Do not fall to the darkness...or you will be forever tormented...
With that, the large dragon-like creature faded and finally disappeared. Daidrea was finally able to move and fell to hes knees....pratically out of breath.
"He had such a grip of me. I couldnt move..." Daidrea pounded the ground. "Must I suffer for darkness that is not my own?"

Ecco watched, completely absorbed, as the creature spoke and finally faded from view. She turned her head slowly, looking for Daidrea's reaction to the entity's words. He was on the ground, apparently very upset. She crouched beside him, her eyes sympathetic. So is there no way to get rid of it? Nothing to at least separate it from yourself? Such darkness must be... painful to live with, at the least, she said quietly. She didn't envy Daidrea, and wished there was a way for her to help. She didn't like seeing someone so afflicted with something clearly undeserved.

Daidrea shook his head. "My darkness is bound to my soul, any attempt to remove it will end my life." Daidrea sat down cross-legged. "Years ago...not long after the Fall, a dark warlock killed my dragon. In my blind rage I pursued him. I slayed so many people just to get to him....even innocent bystandards. The warlock used that to his advantage and placed a curse upon me...bound to me until I become apart of the void. Still in anger I struck him down and it completed the curse...filling me with darkness. After much time it formed into what it is now. My hatred was my own undoing... and nothing I did justfied or brought my dragon back." Daidrea had moved his knees up with his elbows on them and his head resting on top.
"Nothing I've tried has gotten rid of it."

Ecco shook her head sadly as Daidrea explained that his darkness could not be removed. As he continued, explaining its origin, her thoughts darkened further with sympathy. She still wished she could help, even if there was nothing she could do. It was rather frustrating. When the elf finished, she gave a slow nod. Those were regretable deeds, yes, but the death of your dragon cannot have no effect. It may have ended badly, but your actions were not unforgivable, she said, hoping to be a little encouraging. The loss of someone so close would only naturally have dramatic effects on a person's life, and Daidrea couldn't be blamed for reacting in anger.
