Now, to your post; so far we have had no information on what happens when dragons mate, nor if their Riders are affected. If we are correct to assume that CP was influenced by Anne MacCaffrey's Pern series, then yes, the Riders will be affected when their dragons mate. But this is really pure speculation. Again, we don't have enough information to work on to be sure on the theory.

I have over 300 posts there. Nothing has said anything about gestation. But it takes a dragon 5-6 months to mature.

They "get down and dirty" and i don't know, a day to a week to a month. Nobody knows.

yes, but its says in ELdest that after a dragon egg as given to the elfs that spells were placed around it so it would only hatch when it met its true rider, what if the egg does not have the spell? we dont know where Gilby got these eggs! it never says

if there is a rider i still dont think it will be ayra because she has other duties and responsbilitys and would not want to be a rider i dont think, she would want to continue to help the varden but not by being a rider, she might want to lead her people in to war aginst gilby, so if there is a rider i think it will be someone weird, like some dude we havent met yet

That is only one of many reasons why she will be the next rider. She is also the strongest candidate.

Roran doesn't have the time. He'll need the same ammount of time as Eragon has had, including that with Brom. By the time Roran would be done with his training, Galbatorix would have already destroyed Ellesmera (not litterally).

I think Roran has other things on his mind and there is too much going on with him for him to be chosen as the next rider. There are probably other plans ahead for him, which doesn't include him being a rider. I think he will be more of a leader and follower for the riders and help them out in some way.

I am sure there are other dragons and stuff or where. They probably fiednor something or didn't have a rider...who knows...but yeah Saphira's mom was a wild dragon so there had to have been others.

Perhaps...you may be right. They may be hiding because of what's happening and all and in the end they will all come to the other riders aid or something. But I would think that if there were and are wild dragons that have survived that they would have come out and fought or done something...but perhaps it is too dangerous or not exactly the right time, who knows.

The reason that there can't be is that it would make it so Saphira wasn't the last female Dragon on earth. Then they would be disposable.

An egg becomes a riders dragon when the elfs put a spell on it to only awaken when it touched by its true rider, that is also why Saphria's egg could not be broken? Has it ever occured to you that when Eragonwas learning and he went to the Stone of Broken eggs of what ever there were broken eggs? those eggs woudnt have broken if they had teh spell on them saying they were wild dragons.

I am sure it's possible but, I don't think Thorn will mate with another dragon, sadly. I am not sure if he will find another wild dragon but, I am sure there are ones out there of course. Something to think about though.

He can have Saphira's daughter! Whatever. There is no evidence to this point that there are ANY wild Dragons. Dragon eggs are resiliant, which is why the Elves shattered them with magic, the only way TO shatter them.

If Thorn was to mate with a wilddragon it would take away everything that CP was getting at with SAPHIRA being the LAST FEMALE ON ALGAESIA!

As I said in another post, there have to be other dragons! Otherwise there will be insest!!! You just can't breed a whole new race of dragons with only one female dragon! The childeren would be mad or crippled!

There will always be insest within the Dragon race even if there were 2 or 3 female dragons, it is something that will always be. Maybe insest does not even exist within the dragon race.

But interesting prospect, I have never thought of that.
