Shadow's Past
Vroengard... once home to the Riders and their dragons. Now all that remains is ruins and restless spirits. A dark shadow has fallen upon this place. Evil wakes restless spirits... no rest for the angry dead. The sight greatly saddened Daidrea. He arrived just a fortnight ago, given the task to come here and investigate. The elves have sensed that something has changed here, dark spirits roam freely and even rips into the twisting shadow breaths foul breath onto this island. It would be no surprise that the spirits would be attracted to a place of once great power. However the effects are disasterous. Shadows or wraiths of dead Riders and dragons have begun to walk this land. Evil has tainted their spirits, and now Diadrea was sent to put them to rest.
Easier said than done as he thought to himself. They may be only shadows of their former selves...but they still had great strength. Also he had to deal with the fact that he would be fighting former comrades. It had to be done... or they will never rest in peace. Still it bothered him... he wish he had company to help lessen the pain of dealing with this harsh task.

Re: Shadow's Past
Phalynx gazed down at the island, disturbed by the dark taint upon the magic. Faint shapes wandered around, but all were the presences of deceased riders and dragons. It reminded her of the evil dragon-wraiths, but it was different than that. The darkness seeping into the world here was what first attracted Phal to the area. Now that she was here, she could see this would be difficult to deal with.
As she flew, she noticed a familiar figure walking on the ground far below. It was Daidrea, a former rider that she had met a few times before. She had not seen him in a long time. Phal descended until she was less than thirty feet above him, though she made her flight down easy to spot so as not to startle him.
Hello, Daidrea. It's been a long time since I've seen you last. Have you come to stop these tainted souls? she greeted him quietly. What kind of dark magic could have caused this? she wondered to herself. She wondered if it had anything to do with the rising power of the Shadow Realm. Or perhaps someone specific had caused this.

Re: Shadow's Past
Daidrea sighed slightly as he viewed the landscape. Suddenly he felt a slightly familiar presence enter the area. He recognized it was Phal. Greetings Phalynx, Dragoness of the Stars. Daidrea made a slightly sad face. Yes unfortunately, this is unhappy tidings but it must be done. I must put these spirits to rest so that they can sleep in peace. This evil must be eradicated. Although I would be glad if you could join me... I would rather like the company. I find this duty rather....depressing.

Re: Shadow's Past
Phalynx landed next to Daidrea and paced alongside him, folding her wings elegantly along her back. Of course, my friend. I was already thinking of pursuing such a course before I spoke with you, she said with a friendly smile. She glanced around, noticing the distant shapes of the specters.
Though this task may hold some sadness, it is quite necessary, and even a good thing to do, in my opinion. We are going to put these souls to rest, which I'm sure they would like, she said, hoping to bring a little more cheer to the task, I have actually had an experience similar to this, but only slightly. That was sad as well, but in the end I was happy to help the lost souls.

Re: Shadow's Past
Zeei sat relaxed against a crumbling fraction of what was once a pillar. Her knees were tucked up against her while she hugged herself to repel cold, her ebony fringe dancing infront of her eyes. Her pitch black tail was wrapped around her feet, the wolf-ears twitching in irritation. She couldn't even make out why she wanted to journey to this accursed place anyway. But she was here now, marvelled at the shadowy figures of long-deceased souls that she might catch here and there. She wasn't frightened nor concerned over them. Just curious. Probably stupidly curious. Zeei heard something, a sound. Footsteps? And dragon wings ... She peered around the pillar to see an elf with dark short hair and light green eyes. The flapping came from a dragon as silver as the stars. Zeei's ears pricked, her brow furrowing slightly in her worry. Maybe she could go undetected if she was lucky ... ? But perhaps it was too late.

Re: Shadow's Past
Daidrea nodded slightly, agreeing with Phal. A moment later Daidrea felt a different conscience in the area. It wasnt that of a wraith... it was alive but something was odd about it. It was very close by, he saw that Phal noticed it as well when she turned her head. Stealthily Daidrea moved out of site, not even Phal noticed him vanish. From a cliff he came ontop of a colomn, the presence was right below him. He drew his blade and jumped down. What he saw caught him by suprise. It was an elf but with features of a wolf or fox. Despite the bizzare sight, she was quite beatutiful.
Daidrea lowered his sword slightly but he remained on guard. "Who are you?"

Re: Shadow's Past
Phalynx noticed something odd with her infrared vision as she was scanning their surroundings. She inclined her head in that direction, trying to make out the shape. It was hominid in form, much like an elf. Upon closer inspection, and a few paces forward, she could see that it was a female elf with some odd animal traits.
Phal noticed another heat signature enter her vision, and realizing who it was turned to look beside her. Daidrea had indeed vanished. Not wanting to remain alone, the silver dragoness flapped her wings a few times and landed about three dragonlengths away from the elf and Daidrea. Greetings, young one. My name is Phalynx, she said simply, deciding more formal introductions could wait.

Re: Shadow's Past
Zeei's eyes widened, her lips parted slightly. She was slightly startled, not sure exactly what could be accomplished now. She wasn't at her heighest of heights; her memory was going tipsy to plus on with that. She weighed out a few options before selecting the most obvious. She'd use her typical method on them both; information first, death later. She rose to her feet, her left ear twitching slightly. At first she gazed into the light green eyes of the elf, slightly demanding of whom she was, and then the polite silvery dragoness. Zeei's eyes skipped between them both. "Zeei," she murmured feebly. "I am called Zeei ..."

Re: Shadow's Past
Daidrea decided that she was not an enemy, but still seeing her in this place seemed odd. He put away his sword and said, "My apologies if I frightened you, I just had to be sure that you didnt have evil intentions." Daidrea paused slightly, "Zeei... I like your name." He moved slightly closer to her and inspected her face carefully. She seems very uneasy...almost frail. Despite being an elf...of some kind... she doesnt look like she can cause much harm. Still I could be wrong. Should I...
Daidrea was cut off from his thoughts when he sensed something above. A shadow of a raider jumped down, with a blade in hand. "Look out!" Daidrea pushed Zeei out of the way and drew his blade after he recovered. Charging the wraith, he swung his blade quickly to it's side. No suprise it blocked with ease. A massive slashing fight broke out and the sound of steel clashing filled the air. After a few moments, Daidrea managed to side-step one of the wraiths attack and stabbed it in the back, striking the heart. The wraith vanished and the rider's soul was put to rest.
Sighing, Daidrea sheathed his sword and sat down to recollect his thoughts.

Re: Shadow's Past
Phalynx nodded her head in a friendly way to the elf. I am happy to meet you, Zeei, she said. As she raised her head she noticed the dark raider leap from the rocks above. Daidrea engaged it in a fight, and soon they were going at it with swords flying.
Phalynx decided that Daidrea could take care of this enemy, so she contented herself with gazing around at their surroundings. There were no more dark spirits nearby, but she saw a few wandering in a group about a half-mile to the south. She kept checking back on the group while watching everywhere else.
Soon, Daidrea had killed the dark spirit and was recovering from the quick skirmish. There is another group of the human ones to the south, Daidrea. Once you are recovered we can go deal with them, Phal said. She smiled, pleased by the thought that the hominid ones would be easy to deal with by use of her starfire. Her silvery flame had magical properties, in that it could harm ghostly or dark creatures as well as normal ones.

Re: Shadow's Past
Zeei had stumbled slightly in the rubble, but otherwise, she was fine. She observed how Daidrea easily extinguished the spirit before sitting down, which caused the wolf-fox girl to cock her head. Zeei gazed back at the dragon, her ears flattened slightly in caution. She wasn't sure she was comfortable around Phalynx. Well, she was more accustom to elves just a tinge, but not much. Perhaps killing these two would be an easier option, the she could be on her way. Only flaw in that plan was they seemed to be allies and Zeei wasn't exactly what anyone would tag as the "strongest person/thing around". She'd have to wait. But ... hang on .... "Where are you going?" Zeei murmured, skipping her eyes between the two.

Re: Shadow's Past
Daidrea thought for a moment what they should do. He didnt know what was going to be done with Zeei. Her thoughts are rather...complicated. Daidrea couldnt really help but take a look. She didnt seem to notice and she seems rather strange. She has a confused outlook of the world it seems. Almost like a child.
Even so, Daidrea was somewhat attracted to her. After thinking about it he put it out of his mind. Now was not the time for distraction. "We must put the spirits here to rest, perhaps it would be safer if you fled Zeei. I dont see a purpose of you being here while this is occuring."

Re: Shadow's Past
Phalynx strode up to the two. Zeei seemed curious, but she seemed to be hiding something. Phal wasn't sure what to think yet, so she simply assumed her usual calm, friendly demeanor. We are doing as Daidrea mentioned. You don't have to leave, though. You are under your own control as to whether you come with or not, she said. Phal glanced away for a moment, and then turned back to the others.
There is a dragon spirit coming our way. It won't be here for another few minutes, as it is walking, but we should deal with it. I shall go there now, and you can join me when you can, she said, lifting her large silver wings. She flapped off from the ground, and flew towards the shadowy form of the dragon spirit. It looked up at her approach, and roared ferociously.

Re: Shadow's Past
Zeei parted her lips in astonish over Daidrea's words, but she was quickly relieved when Phal granted her a choice. "I'm not as useless as I appear," she proposed feebly. "I would love to still tag along ..." She presented them both, mainly Daidrea, with an innocent smile. She hoped he might allow her ... Zeei was shocked though, when a dragon spirit arrived. She remained with her eyes glued to the brawl, her head cocked and black ears pricked.

Re: Shadow's Past
Daidrea stared back at Zeei with some what of a confused face. However his attention was quickly drawn away when Phal charged in on a dragon spirit. I suppose she can handle this one. Daidrea was reluctant to go in himself in anycase. He could feel his dark powers rising within himself. He should have taken this into thought about the area.
This could be a problem... this area is drawing my darkness out into the open. Eventually...he.. will appear if I cant keep it under control. Damn..

Re: Shadow's Past
Phalynx flew at rapid speed towards the dragon spirit, and blasted it with her silver flame. Before it was damaged too badly by the fire it leapt into the sky and came at her with its teeth bared. Phalynx tensed her wings, and right before the spirit collided with her, she barrel rolled to the side, and then flipped over and came up behind the dragon spirit.
She breathed out a thin jet of starfire again, blasting away some of the dark magic on the spirit's back and wings. It dropped in its flight to evade her and circled around. It attacked her with its now ghostly fire. Phal countered with her own flame and pressed forward. Her own magical fire was more powerful than the ghostly dark fire that the dragon spirit possessed, so it pushed back the other's flame until it reached its source with a large explosion of light. When the light faded, Phalynx was left hovering in the air on her own, having destroyed the dark spirit with her light magic.
Hmph. Hopefully the others will not possess a spirit fire stronger than this one's, she noted, and flapped gently back to earth. The first fight had been relatively easy, but she was curious how it would have gone if there were more spirits. That would be an interesting challenge.

Re: Shadow's Past
When Phal landed, Zeei was awestricken. It appeared so odd to her, to be out her witnessing something she'd never heard of in her life. Soldiers she remembered dared not speak of it of course, so that was an empty slot to be filled. The elvish-girl hopped forward a little, tail wagging the slightest amount. Her black ears were pricked, her eyes flashing in curiousity. "How did you do that ... ?" she inquired, eyeing the silver dragoness before her nerve failed her and she retreated behind half a pillar. Zeei peered around it slightly while stooping close to the ground, examining ... studying. Her gaze then flicked between her and Daidrea. What does he look so bemused about? she pondered.

Daidrea shook his head slightly and placed a hand over his face. We have to destroy the source of this quickly. Otherwise things will turn bad. I dont want anyone hurt...or dead.

Re: Shadow's Past
Phal shut her wings gently along her sides and gave Zeei a friendly smile. She seemed curious, but almost too embarrassed to ask. Well, what exactly do you want to know? My light abilities are directly harmful against dark abilities such as these spirits possess, so that is how I was able to destroy it so efficiently, she attempted to explain, wondering which part of her fight the girl was curious about.

Re: Shadow's Past
Zeei passed her gaze over Daidrea for awhile, wanting to read him, but decided to see how much information she could obtain from the silvery dragon first. She crossed her legs as she sat on the ground, eyed Phalynx directly while tracing circles in the dirt with a single finger. "Well ... exactly that ..." she said a little feebly. "If you can, define what light and dark are. Is it literal? Do you mean sheer evil and good? I've never understood ... Seems those who think their enemies are 'evil' are haughty -- most, not all, of course. For ... who are they to judge what is right or wrong?" Zeei smiled a little shyly. "I think I'm only musing aloud ... it doesn't matter." She turned her attention to Daidrea. "I ... don't think I'll be useless either. I mean ... the more the merrier ..." Zeei wasn't particularly sure of anything she was saying, but she hoped it'd place on impression of herself against these two. Hopefully it was the right impression as well.
