The Long Journey
OOC: This is for anyone who is on almost every day and can post almost every day. This story will carry the charries that join this will travel in almost every land that surrounds Alagesia(sp). Als, I want this to be minly a elf, human thing, though people wthot human-like charried(Dracoaestas) may join with a dragon.
IC: Voenth had left Braith to his own devices to search for help from new and more powerful lands. He had taken wiht him two eldunari, though they were in a coma-like state, they still could lend him much needed energy. He had taken both Let'hjartha and Rathur'gata also. Before he had left, Voenth had completely filled both his swords with enregy and infused them with certain spells that could save him in a time of need.
He had left his beloved forest, Du Weldenvarden and followed the shore-line toward the Northern Mountains, he had encontered nothig but birds ans sensed the presence of his ever faithful Hawk, Arget'fethr. He had seen the great silver hawk flying above him as always scouting out for any dangers that may come their way. Voenth continued along the small trails, left by deer and other animals, intent upon finding any civilization or creature that could be of assistance.
Two weeks later. Voenth was tired, he had been running for two days strait. He dare not draw energy from his swords nor take any fom the sleeping eldunari he had with him, because he may need it later. He had found civilization, if you could call it that, he had entered a small city that was surrounded by logs and had some towers, he had gone in and told them what the situation was, and well the people there didn't take it too well. It seemes that they have already allied themselves with Galbatorix and that he was "Under arrest." Voenth had killed the people who tried to capture him, but when he left horsemen came after him. For some reason, he couldn't shake them. Arget'fethr had mysteriously disappeared and Voenth was on the verge of collapse. He fell to the ground and rolled to the side of the small road and hid in a nearby bush. The horsemen stopped and looked to a small woman in the middle of the group, she was small but had a long nose and huge teeth. She dismounted and began to sniff around. She let out an odd cry and the earth around them began to shake. Then something with horns and a huge head began to come out of the ground. Voenth looked back up and the rides were gone, all except one. The horse had no flesh watsoever on it, it was naught but bones, and the woman, well she ws hidious, she had no skin watsoever, besides tewo eyes, she carried a horn in her hand, which she blew and more and more beasts rise from the ground to meet. The beasts were very muscular, red from head to tail. They stood around seventeen feet tall, and had two large horns on their heads. They had wings though small they looked powerful and small lion-like tails. They had long sharp teeth and claws and Voenth feared that if he were to get caught he would find out exactly those teeth were used.
Voenth began to slowly and quietly inch away when one of the demonic-like beings turned in his direction. Voenth cursed siently and began to weave a simple spell to erace his tracks and make himself invisible. The energy it took was great, but it just saved his life. The demonic being walked right past him and sniffed a few times, then went back to the group that was assembling around the skeletal woman. Voenth listened closely and heard something about children of Bail. He thought to himself, Bail, Bail, where have I heard that, wasn't he a demi-god, yes...he and his followers once ruled the entire continent, but were forced to retreat by the dragons, elves, and dwarves combined might. This must be one of their few remaining settlements... Oh,no! They eat the flesh of their enemies I have to run! Voenth then panicked. He ran faster than ever before. He went through the woods at a speed that would make a rider on a horse seem slow. But, once the demonic beings saw him, they began to catch up to him. Voenth knew he was in trouble. He cast a quick spell that nearmy mage him fall down from exhaustion he was teleported to a small tree house that was nearby, Voenth fervently hoped help would come, and quikly, the beasts would eventually find him.

Re: The Long Journey
OOC: So you're beyond the northwestern part of the map? (The drawn one)IC: Phalynx flew north, along the edge of Du Weldenvarden. She was surveying the land along its edge, when she came to an area less thickly forested in the western parts. It looked interesting enough, so she decided to explore it.
It wasn't long before she was attacked. In the earliest parts of the morning, one of the two times Phalynx slept during each day, she awoke with a start to see several reddish beasts surrounding her. She roared and tried to fly away, but hissed in pain and was forced back down. They had a large harpoon embedded in the tip of her leading wing-finger, attached to a thick steel chain and tied to a heavy stake in the ground. Phal immediately began to glow with piercing silver light, blinding the creatures temporarily and allowing her to extract the harpoon. It was no easy task; the ends were barbed and pierced her flesh deeply. It would be painful to fly with the air burning over that wound.
Phal then blasted the clearing with starfire, assuring her escape, and flew away. She raced into her comfort zone, which was growing ever higher these last few months. At this point, she wasn't perfectly at peace until she was higher than any other dragon could go. As soon as she reached the immense altitude, she relaxed and let out a deep breath.
Okay, she decided, This land deserves some careful investigation. Phalynx had already made up her mind. She would find the evil in this area, the thing that was causing those evil beasts to attack, and put a stop to it. After all, that was her job; to protect the lands of Alagaesia and beyond. Little did she know that one of her friends was already here.OOC: She'll find Voenth in my next post, if you'd like.

Re: The Long Journey
OOC: OK.
IC: Kree! Wake up, the beasts come for you! Screehed Arget'fethr to Voenth in an attempt to wake him up. The red beasts fly, they are searching the air for you, you must get away frmo this place! Screeched Arget'fethr again, this time grabbign Voenth and pulling him into a sitting position.
Stupid bird, why can't he leave me alone. Thought Voenth as he allowed himself to be pulled up. Voenth was tired, he hadn't been able to sleep because of the riders, and now because of beasts that are able to fly and run. This was just not his day. He stood up and looked to see th eprogress made by his hunters. They were within seventeen hundred yards. He climbed out of the tree and began to run once again. But, this time the demonic beings had cught his scent. They followed him and cornered him on a clift that overlooked the ocean.

Re: The Long Journey
Phalynx followed the coastline north, searching for the edge of the beast's land. Once she found that, she would know the area of interest. While she was flying, she noticed some of the red beasts below her, also in flight. Oh no, there are flying ones, she muttered to herself in annoyance. The injury in her wing-finger was still painful, even though she had mostly healed it. She wasn't eager to face that again.
She growled at the hideous creatures below her, loudly enough to catch their attention. They immediately began a pursuit. Phalynx grinned and led them up as far as they would go willingly, before they couldn't go any higher. She then located their magic with her sight and locked it to hers. With this "tractor beam" of sorts, she pulled them higher and higher, into thinner atmosphere. Before long, they were past the ozone layer which protected all living things on the surface from radiation. Up here, the beasts all began to freeze, run out of air, and die of radiation poisoning all at once.
The tactic made Phalynx feel evil, for it was a cruel one. However, she did not feel like killing them all closer to the surface and alerting their fellows. As soon as there was no hope for their survival, she dropped her hold on their magic and let them fall to earth. Foul creatures, she said as she watched them fall, This land shall soon be rid of your evil.
As she was hovering, Phalynx noticed a less threatening shape on the shoreline below. She could barely make it out, but knew it was an elf, and it was being surrounded by the red creatures. Well, any enemy of theirs is almost certainly my ally here, she thought, and stooped into a steep dive. Her freefall brought her much closer, close enough to see with surprise who the elf was. Voenth! she thought, startled, and pinned her wings tightly to her sides. He was obviously in need of rescuing, being cornered on the edge of a cliff and all.
Phal slowly peeled her wings loose, but only until they formed a sort of triangular shape. She only had her wing-fingers out, not the rest of her wing-arm. This evened out her dive but kept her speed. As she approached, she lowered her foreclaws and opened her wings just a little further. Finally, she was nearly within reach.
Just as the red beasts noticed her, for she was moving that fast, she reached the cliff and snatched both Voenth and his little raptor, and was back in the sky and out of reach in a blink. She slowed her ascent and placed Voenth carefully on her back. The raptor she kept ahold of, for he couldn't keep up with her dive-sped flight, and would most likely be ripped off of her back by the strong winds. Well, glad to see I found you in time. And I'm sorry, Arget'fethr I believe, for grabbing you. I know you could fly away, but I thought you'd like to keep up with your friend, she said to them. She turned her head back to Voenth with a large toothy grin.

Re: The Long Journey
Up in the sky, far higher than the normal dragon could withstand, Star Gazer glided through the air, dipping and diving at her will, enjoying the sensation of the gravity-less atmosphere flowing over her enormous wings that were still. She loved how the forces lifted her giant body with little effort on her part, helping her soar to the clouds and beyond. She flapped her great wings, sending wisps of clouds that remained floating in all directions. She smiled even though her need for air would demand she lower herself in a few minutes, but she refused to let that ruin this beautiful fun.
She flapped her great wings once, and then wrapped them snuggly around her body and began a freefall towards the ground, a trumpet of joy exploding from her. She felt the rush as oxygen poured into her nose the lower she got, and the wind as it rushed up to meet her, slowing her fall. As she readied herself to unfurl her wings, she dove straight down past Phalynx! Star Gazer imediately pulled up and sent a message to her rider who was riding Cobalt below.
Reb had already spotted Phalynx long before Star Gazer had sent the message. Phalynx had swooped low to extricate a man and his bird from the clutches of greedy beasts. "I realize that Star." Reb sent back, her horse picking up speed as he followed Phalynx on the ground. Cobalt's powerful shoulders began bunching, the power there amazing to Reb as he burst forwards in an incredible speed as he tried to catch the dragon. "Good boy." She murmered, leaning low over his neck as he cleared logs.
Behind Reb her wolves followed, slinking through the forrest, keeping pace with Cobalt farther into the trees. She sighed with contentment, everything felt right. Her entire family was there. Leth-the wolf- and her pup, Cobalt, Star Gazer, and now Phalynx. Reb reached for Phal's mind using Star Gazer. "Phalynx, it is good to see you again."

Re: The Long Journey
"Thanks Phalynx, I didn't think I would get out of there without using ... well ... these." He showed Phalynx the eldunari of Bascth and of Seren. He said, "Please do not tell anyone I found these, they asked me to keep them a secret." He then hung on grimly as Phalynx continued to fly at a high speed. He let out a quick spell that teleported Arget'fethr to him and allowed the bird to hang on to him instead of being held by the silver dragon. He then explained why he had come here and who it was that was following him. "They are the followers of Bail, they once ruled the land of Alagesia and all surrounding lands, untill the elves came tothe land and they wiht the strength of the few humans, the dwarves and the dragons finally drove them out. The red beings might not be great flyers, but they are immensely strong and can easily kill a young dragon. But, it seems you know of that." SaidVoenth when he noticed the huge gash upon her wing. He healed it and continued to ride.

Re: The Long Journey
Phalynx noticed Star and her friends below her, and slowed her flight to keep near them. She turned her head back to face Voenth. Indeed. I'm slowly extending my usual patrolling range. Hopefully one day it will encompass the whole planet, she said wistfully.
These beings sound like bad news. We must eradicate them. And obviously they did not rule the land, but the lesser species. Dragons were at the height of their power before the elves came, she said with a note of pride in her voice, Oh, as for the wound, they caught me by surprise while I was sleeping. I shan't make that mistake again. And besides, with more eyes with us we shall be invulnerable to surprise attack. Phalynx motioned down with her head towards the elegant purple-black shape of Star Gazer beneath them.
It is wonderful to see you all as well, my friends, Phal replied to Reb's greeting, You have obviously already seen that these creatures are enemies, but they seem to be quite evil as well, based on what Voenth has told me. Would you care to join me in eliminating the threat? Phal was happy that her close friends, family in a way, had joined them. With strong allies at hand, they would be a force to be reckoned with.

Re: The Long Journey
Star Gazer and Reb became one as they answered Reb in a strong, deeply female voice, " We shall." Reb smiled as Star Gazer let her go, and then she laughed as Cobalt cleared another felled tree, never breaking stride. " Good boy." She coed softly, urging him to slow as they ventured deeper into the forest. She got the sudden feeling they were not alone any longer right before something slammed into her chest, knocking her from Cobalt.
Reb lay on the ground trying to catch her breath when she heard Cobalt's shrilly, angry cry. Reb looked over just in time to see Cobalt's mane and tail explode in angry blue fire, his eyes glinting angrily into the night. He trotted over to Reb and winnied sofly. Reb grabbed a stirrup and hauled herself to her feet, ducking as the beast emerged from the trees screaming in anger at Cobalt and Reb.
Cobalt reared, slamming his hooves into the beast before it could reach Reb, sending it fleeing into the trees, a trail of blood following in its wake. "Star Gazer, the battle has begun." Reb announced as she remounted, staying low over the fire steed's neck-Cobalt- she understood completely why some would call them the demonic pair, having glimsed Cobalt in a rage. " Calm boy, I'm fine." She coed trying to calm him.

Re: The Long Journey
Kree, it seems your friend is in trouble. Said Arget'feth to the silver dragon. He saw everything that was happening and leapt free of the hold Voenth had on him. He dove fast toward the horse and the female rider and flew striat inot the face of a nearby demon. He screeched, Get away from here, get on the purple dragon, anything, but do not stay on the ground! He screeched again and flew high into the air, at a speed that suprise danyone, he flew high enough and dove. He soon was perched again on Voenth's shoulder.
"Wha-" Said Voenth when Arget'fethr dove off of his shoulder. He looked on in awe as the hawk dove into the face of a demon-like creature. He was worried, untill he saw the hawk fly high, higher than Voenth would have thought he could and was again perched upon his shoulder. Phalynx, we may need to land amd meet the others, we are more vonerable when we are seperated, and I can see the demons running below us, they won't fly ... yet, but if they catch us, I think I know ow we can beat them for now at least.

Re: The Long Journey
Phalynx began her descent. It wasn't very steep for her, but she didn't want to shake Voenth loose; he was riding on her without a saddle, and her scales were very smooth and hard to hold onto. Indeed. We should form a plan of investigation and attack. We must assess their numbers, their strengths, their leader; anything that we can use against them, she replied to Voenth.
Reb, get on Star and let's form a strategy! Unless- yeah, there are eight of them down there. We can take care of them first and then form our plan before others arrive, she said, counting the number of beasts she could see in the vicinity. She was soon above Reb and Cobalt, and swooped down to snatch a demonic beast up in her claws. She rent it apart in her sharp talons and let the body fall back to earth.

Re: The Long Journey
Reb heard their worried attempts to get to her to ride Star, but she refused to bring Star into it yet. A demon lept from a tree straight at her. Reb stood up in Cobalt's saddle and launched herself in the air at it, fire lighting her hands. She thrust them out sending the fire searching.
Reb landed on the ground right as the demon slammed into a tree, splintering it and then exploding. "Take that you filthy beasts." Reb muttered, hearing another demon approaching. "Cobalt come. " Reb said, unsheathing her sword, the blade igniteing with white fire.
Star Gazer roared loudly, wrapping her wings around her as she went into a death spin, her lethal looking teeth flashing in the sun as she dove for her rider. She refused to watch Reb battle, even though that was what her rider lived for. She released her wings in time to slam into the earth leaving an indention where she had been, a growl rumbling in her throat.

OOC: There was nothing wrong with that post, I liked it.
IC: Oh, I know what their leader looks like, it is a woman, she has absolutely no flesh at all, except she has eyes. She wears a black cloak and has a horn, that she can and does use to summon these demon-things. As to where she is, I do not know, wish I did though. Said Voenth as he held onto Phalynx's smooth scales.
Kree! I can see a safe spot to land, there. Pointed Arget'fethr with one wing toward a small field in the middle of te forest.
OOC: Sorry, pass...

Re: The Long Journey
Hm. Six left nearby, Phal said as Reb blew one apart with her powerful fire magic. The dragoness flapped above the head of another and burned it away with her starfire, simply bathing it in a stream of silver flame until it was no more. Five. Would you like me to set you down there? Phal asked Voenth after Arget mentioned a landing space. She glanced over at the field. If Voenth wanted to do some fighting of his own, Phal would gladly let him.
She looked over at the area around Reb. The rider had already turned to face another beast, and her powerful dragon had landed nearby. Star seemed to want to take Reb away from the fight, despite her rider's obvious enjoyment.

Re: The Long Journey
Black fire erupted from Star Gazer's maw as she blew apart another demon, her fury slowly turning to amusement. " Reb, quit being a show off, and take precaution." Star Gazer snarled as Reb cut at another demon, the fire causing the beast to scream in fury.
"I'm perfectly safe thank you, and if your worried then protect me with your superior self." Reb laughed, trying to ease the tension. OOC: I'm sorry Im at school and I'm at a moment of dry inventiveness, pass post.

"Yes, please set me down, your scales are beginning to rub through my pants and I really don't want to bleed, at least right dow that is." Said Voenth with a smile. He allowed Arget'fethr to once again take flight to inspect the supposed safe landing place.
Arget'fethr cut through the air like a knife. He screeched in delight when the sun reflected off of his silver feathers. He flew down to the clearing and said, All is well here, there are no enemies, for now at least.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal laughed and in less than a second had spiralled down for a smooth landing in the clearing. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm not used to carrying people around. There are three demon creatures left, Star and Reb have killed two of the earlier five, she said as he slid off her back. Though Phal was one of the smoother-scaled dragons, she supposed any dragon scales were sharp and grating after a while.
She took off into the sky with two powerful flaps, sending huge gusts swirling around the clearing, kicking up leaves and debri and causing them to blow around Voenth. She sought out the last three demon creatures. One of them was on a nearby ridge, and heading towards Voenth at high speeds. Phal crashed through the forest above it and landed directly in front of it. She roared, stopping it in its tracks, and lunged forward, killing it with a powerful blow of her claws.

Re: The Long Journey
"I'll kill the last one." Reb said as she urged Cobalt into the trees, luring the beast onto her trail. She was incensed by the fact that the dirty creature dared attack her horse. Cobalt was a member of her family, one of the most important things in her life, without him she would be desolate.
Just as she thought, the demon took off after her, its blood lust blocking all rational thought from its mind. "It takes two to tango." Reb muttered as she began to stand up in the saddle, and then turned around, facing the demon behind them. It screached in fury and then dive bombed her. It met a ball of pure energy, the energy slamming into its chest, an explosion soon rocking the forest as the demon blew up into bits and pieces.
Reb sat down hard in the saddle and then told Cobalt to take her back to her friends. "Its dead." She told them.

Voenth stood in the middle of the clearing, admiring the beautiful day. He sat down and waited for the dragons and the woman to meet him there.
Arget'fethr sat in a nearby tree, watching over Voenth as always.

After the last demons were killed, Phalynx flapped gently over to the clearing where she had left Voenth and flared her wings wide to parachute to a soft landing. She closed her large wings and walked over to the rider. Reb has killed the last of them, as she said. There aren't any more nearby, so we should be safe for a while, Phal said, ruffling her wings a little.
So, Voenth. Have you any plans in mind for dealing with their leader? Do you know where we can find her? she asked him, wanting to deal with these things as quickly as possible. Killing their highest ranking would be the most efficient way of defeating them, but they could end up having to kill all of them if they posed a sufficient threat.

Re: The Long Journey
Star Gazer kept silent, knowing exactly where they could find such a being, but not saying a word. She wanted to see what knowledge the human possessed. "I would very much like to know how you became intwined with such characters." Reb said, cleaning her blade on the ground as she came towards him, black blood streaking the grass behind her. " As a shade I personally can't say I am shocked by the presence of demons, but where may I ask did you come across such things? " Reb wondered aloud, sheathing her blade when it was as clean as possible without a thorough scrubbing.

OOC: Voenth is an elf. Lolz.
IC: "I have no clue where ot find her, but the evil witch is sure to have an army of those demons around her. It also seems that there is next to an unlimited supply of them. When they first came, they sprung up out of the ground, like some sort of plant. But, the woman is sure to be somethere under-ground, but where, I have no idea." Said Voenth with a very perplexed look on his face. "Arget'fethr, did you see where the woman went after I got away form them?"
Kree, no. I have seen naught of them since the woman dissipated into the wind, along with her horse. But, I doubt just the fiveus could get to her without alot of luck and great cunning. Said the huge hawk as he flew down and perched upon one of ther purple draogn's spikes.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal listened to Voenth, perplexed. They came out of the ground? That's very odd. I simply must find out the origins of these beasts and their witch-queen, she said with a nod of her head as if such a course of action were only logical. Most would be content to simply destroy the evil things and be done with it, but Phal was definately not one such dragon.
Well, if she dwells underground, I'm sure I can be of help looking for caves. I'm, uh, pretty good at that sort of thing, Phal said with a laugh when Voenth finished.

OOC: Sure. Star seems to have gone into one of her inactive periods again. I'm sure she won't mind if we skip her for a while. I can probably god-mod her charries when we need to, as well.

Re: The Long Journey
OOC: lol okay, though there's not really much to say. IC: Star snorted, satisfied with Voenth's answer. He had guessed correctly in saying that the queen was underground. "Yes, let us look for the caves immediately," said Reb, agreeing. She glanced at Phal. "Sure, you go ahead and see where a suitable entrance is," she added. OOC: We can skip her some of the time. Unless something that her charries would definately be involved in happens.

Re: The Long Journey
OOC: Sure, but school has really caught up with me, I may not be as active as before, so be patient with me, lolz.
IC: Voenth stood up and said, "Coming?" then began to search with his mind for any threats that may lay ahead of them. He started at a slow jog, conserving his energy when possible. His swords, Rathur'gata, and Let'hjartha bounced against his legs as he ran. While running, Voenth changed into the most suited form for the situation, that of a wolf and continued to run, perfectly suited for the terrain.
Arget'fethr screeched loudly and flew away from the purple dragoness. He flew high over Voenth as the elf ran along the ground. He searched the land around the elf, for any would-be threats.

Re: The Long Journey
OOC: That's okay. School here starts in a week, so I'll be much busier then as well. IC: Phal leapt into the air at the words of her companions, eager to start the search. She began to scan the area for a cavern entrance, examining the land and seeing if she could spot a tunnel amidst the rocks and dirt. She could see a network of caves farther below everyone, but no entrances yet. I don't see any entrances to the caves, but it shouldn't take long. There are a lot of them, she said, her gaze shifting around.

Re: The Long Journey
True, but I just hope they aren't trying to lead us to them and get us into a situation where you are unable to fly and I am unable to run. If that happens, we will be hardput to escape with our lives. said Voenth as he ran through the trees, using his nose to follow the trail of the evil creatures.
OOC: Pass, sorry.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal swooped down towards Voenth. If they are leading us to them, then let this be a mistake they will always regret, she said to him as she passed. Her wings were tense, though. This could be a difficult situation to handle, especially because it was underground. Though Phal was certainly not useless on the ground, she wasn't nearly as proficient at fighting. And, of course, where her enormous wings made her agile as a hummingbird in the sky, they made her bulky and clumsy while landed. Some of these tunnels are getting closer to the surface. I may find an entrance soon, she said, tracing the caves with her eyes and hoping they would lead to the land above.

Re: The Long Journey
Maby, but it never hurts to have an escape route when you don't know the true numbers of the enemy. said Voenth as he changed back into an elf. He climbed a nearby tree and began to run suprisingly fast from bough to bough through the trees, to escape detection from the enemy that may be below.
Arget saw that Voenth was in good hands, he screeched and turned around. He would see the village, spy on it and try to learn all he could to help both Voenth and the silver dragoness.

Re: The Long Journey
Hm. Yes, there is wisdom in having an escape route. That works for most situations, actually, she replied with a laugh. Phal's eyes traced the paths of the tunnels as they continued to grow more shallow, and she snorted her satisfaction when she finally found what she was looking for.
Well, I've found a cluster of four tunnel openings. There are another two farther off in that direction. And, most of the tunnels in this area are shallow enough to blast our way through if we need to, she announced, happy to have made some progress.

Re: The Long Journey
Ok, I will stand ready for anything if is comes out, I am sure your starfire will do the job well enough. said Voenth as he stopped in a large oak near where Phalynx told hi the tunnels were. He stood ready to use both magic and his blades should anything be unlucky enough to come out of the tunnels.
Arget'fethr was too busy. He was perched on the roof of the ruler of the town an odd man, he never heard his name, bu twhat he did hear suprised him. The demonc beings were created through a long and complcated spell. But it wasn't a magic that used the Ancient Language, this was a dark magic that used special herbs, as well as relics to create the demons. He screeched quietly, then flew off to tell both Voenth and Phalynx the news.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal grinned. Oh, it will. As long as there aren't too many enemies, or we're in the narrow space down there. Those tunnels are narrow enough that I could make my flame engulf them from wall to wall if I wanted to, she said as she fluttered down. Phal landed near the entrance of the tunnel, and peered into the gloom. Though she was a dragon, and a dragon possessing special powers at that, it didn't stop the caves from holding a rather forbiding and dark atmosphere. Venturing into them seemed a little more daunting than she had thought.

Re: The Long Journey
"Ok, then." laughed Voenth at the remark made by the silver dragoness. He liked how she made light of almost every situation no matter how dangerous or serious. He wondered how she could ever be so serious as to kill something, but knew she had it in her.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal smiled at Voenth's reply. She sniffed the entrance. There were a few things that her sight alone could not detect, and one of those was the presence of something in the past. It could find magic traces of a person or creature, but those faded much, much more quickly than a scent. Phal could only pick up a few musty smells, and frowned. Her sense of smell, compared to pretty much every other dragon, was pathetic. It was one thing she regretted about her past; that she had not used her sense of smell as much as she should have, and had relied too much on her vision abilities. She tried to see deeper into the tunnels around them, though anything too far down was blurred by the layers of stone and dirt. Should we venture in, or wait for something to come out of one of these entrances? Either option would probably have the same chance of giving us the desired results, she asked.

Re: The Long Journey
"I will go first, no offence, but I would be slightly more suited to fighting on the ground." said Voenth as he jumped into the tunnel. There was nothin there, other than the odd track of one of the demons, but other than that all was safe. He said, "Lets go this way." pointing toward a wide tunnel that seemed to take a turn that went strait down. The elf clutched the eldunari he had with him and jumped into the unknown.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal laughed. None taken. I agree, in fact. I'm not nearly as agile on the ground as I am in the skies, she replied with a grin. Phal waited for Voenth to descend. She took a last look around the perimeter and into the other tunnels that she could see. Once she was underground, the tunnels would start to jumble together.
She turned her attention back to their entrance and trotted after her friend. The darkness swallowed her, but Phal could still see perfectly well. So far, the path ahead looked clear. The stone here was unusually dense, which made things past it look more blurred, but Phal could still see things far enough away to give some warning of them, as long as she was looking in the right direction.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth slowed his runn to a slow jog, getting more and more nervous as he went. He smelled the cave, they were old, but how old he had no clue. He asked Phalynx, By your sight, can you tell is any of the demons have been through here recently. Because I would rather not run into them down here, they must have perfect eyesight down here, where ever here is. said the elf as he clutched the eldunari colser to him. He stopped suddenly, a noise up aheag alerting him. He said, Phalynx, what is up ahead, I heard something.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal walked at a brisk pace behind the elf, gazing around them and keeping watch. She was concentrating on watching behind and to the sides, and almost didn't hear Voenth's question. Oh, no, not recently. I would recognize their magic, well, at least the magic of the types we encountered. But there are no traces. Magic fades quickly, though, so it's been at least one and a half hours, she replied, examining the inside of the tunnel.
Phal's attention was caught by the sound as well, and she nodded, saying, Yeah, I heard it too. Hang on a minute; this rock is quite thick and obscuring. Phal narrowed her eyes and tried to sharpen her vision to see what was ahead. Something smallish was in the cavern. Phal let out a small, barely audible growl when she noticed the traces of dark magic around it. Whatever it is seems to be small, but there is dark magic around it. Whether or not it is a threat I cannot tell, but we should capture or kill it swiftly. If it is one of them, it could be a scout set in place to warn the others, she announced, taking a step forward.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth clutched the eldunari tightly and said, "I will try to take care of it." he drew some of the energy from the sapphire, and onyx in his swords and begna to form a spell, it was a spell of light. He murmered the last words and then sent it. It looked liek a small bug, but once it neared the thing it exploded into an extremely powerful light. Voenth ran around the corner and held Let'hjartha at the ready, but to his suprise; nothing was there. He said, "Are you sure something was here because there is no trace." he looked about and saw that there were footsteps. He said, "Maby you were right, there are footsteps going that way." said the elf, pointing into the deeper tunnels.

Re: The Long Journey
Phalynx watched Voenth's missile head towards whatever the thing was, but before she could see what happened a large amount of light blocked her vision. When she could see that part of the tunnel, she and the elf were already racing towards it, and the creature was gone. Phal immediately traced the footsteps with her eyes and searched ahead for the thing. Yes, it's still there, running swiftly. But it seems a little lopsided, maybe it was injured. We have to catch it, she said, and began running down the tunnel once more. She wasn't fast enough on the ground, though, and was frustrated with her inability to catch up. Perhaps Voenth could.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth took the hint and began to run down the tunnel after it. He r an wiht a great speed, despite his age. He came to a halt in front of a large stone door. He looked back to see Phalynx coming his way. He indicated the door and murmured the word, "Goblins." He gave the door a gently nudge and cringed as it squeaked loudly on its hinges and jumped back because of the stone-tipped spears held by small grotesque creatures; goblins.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal bounded up the tunnel just as Voenth wrenched open the door, seeing the mass of warm bodies beyond it. As he threw it open, she jerked to a stop and blasted a gust of starry flame above the smaller creatures' heads. Lay down your weapons, creatures, she warned, not knowing if they could understand her. She hoped the warning in her appearance would be enough. Phal stepped forward menacingly and lowered her head so it was right above Voenth.

OOC: Lolz, gona talk like gollum, and Jarjar, lol!
IC: The head goblin, a larger creature, but still much smaller than Voenth and the dragon stepped forward, instead of a stone tipped spear, he carried a small datter of steel. He said in a nervous voice after the dragon blew fire over his head, "Wesa no takes no orders froma yousa. Wemsa the goblinsa. Bow yousa heads before the great goblins. Or wesa kill ya!"
Voenth narrowed his eyes at the impudent little goblin. He decieded to bluff his way out of the situatuion. Though he knew both his and Phalynx's skills were great, there were just too many. He whispered to Phalynx, Just go along with it, I am going to try something. He stepped boldly forward, a feasrome look in his eye. He half-way unsheathes Let'hjartha and said in a powerful tone, "Step aside, goblins, we are great overland warriors, with no time for you!"

Re: The Long Journey
OOC: lol nice work. You're actually not bad at that. IC: Phal snorted after the rather incoherant goblin's speech, and she eyed the masses of creatures before them, wondering if it would be wiser to find another tunnel. She raised one eye-ridge as Voenth told her to "go along with it," wondering what he was up to. When he began his plan, she laughed inwardly. This does sound like fun, she thought with a small smile.
Phalynx raised her wings slightly off her back, and lifted her head proudly. Out of our way, creatures of the earth. We require the use of this passage, she stated, her powerful draconic voice making the goblins wince.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth winked at the dragoness when he saw that she had cought on. He continued his boast, even shoving some of the small creatures around to prove his point. He looked at the "leader" and said, "Give us passage, or we will cave in this entire tunnel."
The leader, completely cowed by the large dragon and the mean looking elf with his sword said, "Ok, ok, wesa takes youas tosa the light on ta otha end of tha tunnels. But, yousa has ta giv ya words that ta wont hurts us, caus we neva hurt yousa."

Re: The Long Journey
Phal barely suppressed a laugh, amused by Voenth's attitude and the goblins' meekness. She kept her amusement out of her countenance, however, and strode through the passage with her head high, though she made sure not to step on any of the small creatures that lined the tunnels. Where shall we go next? There are many tunnels here, she asked Voenth, glancing around at the adjacent passages and caverns. Many of them connected with their own.

Re: The Long Journey
Well, we are at their mercy, we are completely lost down here, and we havce to hope our bluff will get us through here, because if they figure us out, we are goners, we will never get past this many. just then, one of the small goblins up ahead emmited a loud horrendus screech. When he turned to see what it was, Voenth shook with horror, a huge snake, a powerful beast was in frint if him. It began to feast upon the goblin, swallowing it down whole. He looked at Phalynx and said, This must be why they are armed, they are trying only to protect themselves. We should help them.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal's eyes narrowed, a growl crossing her lips. I was thinking along the same lines, she hissed, though Voenth would know her anger was directed at the snake. Her growl transformed into a full-fledged roar as she tore down the passage and leaped at the snake. It hissed and twisted its body around, slithering down a side tunnel and then down a vertical hole. Phal scrambled after it and dove into the hole, coming at it and gripping the beast around its middle. They slid through the tunnel, but suddenly the air had turned into water. The hole had flooded, and the fighting creatures had entered a large, water-filled cavern. Phal held onto the snake, biting into its scaly flesh as it writhed and twisted its coils around her. She eventually reached its throat and bit down hard, wrenching her head back to finish the beast.
Phal let go of the snake and forcefully removed herself from its coils, swimming back to the top of the chamber. She crawled back out along the hole and emerged in the upper passage once more. Her scales were covered in mud and blood after the quick, rough fight, but she felt much more satisfied with herself for defending creatures that only wanted to keep their kin safe. It's dead. It won't be harming any of you in the future, she announced wearily. OOC: That post is actually based on a dream I had, except I was a silver dragon from Dungeons and Dragons, and the snake was a purple worm, and we were above ground before we went into the hole. It was an awesome dream.

OOC: lol
IC: Voenth looked at the terrifyed faces of the goblins and said, "That monster is gone, my friend killed it, are there any more because we will not have them bothering you any more." the leader of the creatures stppef forward.
He said, "No, thats tha last of em. Thems evil beastes, them eats us an them kills us, we glad to yousa. Yousa hearos, yousa kill da monsta!" yelled the small goblin leader happily. He and about seven others went over to Voentyh and lifted them over their heads and began to parade him about the cavern. Then, they took both Phalynx and Voenth to a side cavern and served them steaming hot mushrooms that were very ... pungent, as well as water. The leader looked at the two expectantly.
Voenth picked up his mushroom and nibbled a part off. He rolled his eyes at it. It was one of the best dishes he had ever enjoyed before. He said to Phalynx, "Taste it, it is wonderful!"

Re: The Long Journey
Phalynx laughed and a smile appeared on her face. Her green eyes sparkled with delight at the grateful and celebrating goblins, giving her a feeling of happiness that she loved; it was the feeling she got after successfully helping others. Voenth, doesn't this remind you of the Kalkara? We thought they were enemies, but now they love us for saving them from evil beasts, she said happily into the elf's mind. She walked into the room and sniffed the air, even her poor sense of smell overwhelmed by the mushrooms. She neared a pile and eyed Voenth when he said they were good. Shaking her head with a laugh, she took a giant bite. Phal ate the whole pile quite swiftly after that, delighted at the taste. You are correct, my friend. Though I fear they may give us bad breath later. Maybe it will make my fire more potent, she replied with a grin.

"Well, yes, the few that are left. The majority is you remember were killed in the cave in, but that is an entirely other story. And, you may be right. I may be able to breathe fire after this one." laughed the elf, it had been a long time since last he had truly laughed. He looked around the room, seeing all the happy faces of the small goblins, then remembered. "Phalynx, we cannot stay here, we have a mission we need to finish and we will never do that here."

Re: The Long Journey
Phal sighed solemnly in reply to Voenth. The Kalkara will recover, though. At least they are no longer slaves, she said. Her mood brightened and she laughed at the elf's joke, though. Phal finished the last few mushrooms she had been offered, still chuckling as a mental picture of flames spewing from her friend's mouth invaded her mind.
She nodded when Voenth reminded her of their mission. Yes, I know. It was nice to stop for a little while and relax, though. A strong morale is just as important as a strong body and mind for fights, she replied. She stood up, having to keep her neck at a lower angle in the small cave. We thank you very much for your hospitality and food, goblins. But now we must continue our mission and protect others from harm, my friends, she addressed the small creatures.

Voenth quietly got up and excused himself from the table. He let Phalynx know what he was doing and went ahead to scout out the ground in front of them. Happily, there were no signs of the demons, or the evil woman. He continued when he heard an uproar behind him.
"No! Wesa come with yousa, yousa no go without wesa! Thatsa order! Guards! Stopa them froma leav! We cant let themsa leave. Them stay wit us forevr! Wesa be good hostss!" yelled the "king" when he heard that their new guardians were leaving. He liked them, too much to let them go.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal's head jerked up and her eyes widened in alarm at this new behavior of the goblins. She thought it a bit strange, but not much of a hindrance. She shifted her weight from foot to foot, backing away down the tunnel. Well, I'm sorry, little creatures, but you cannot come with, and we cannot stay, she said. Phal glanced up at the ceiling of the cave, and then reared up onto her hind legs, clawing at a large rock that she had noticed wasn't sitting in very well. The rock shifted, and Phal darted backwards as it fell to the floor of the tunnel. Hundreds of other rocks began to fall after it, filling the tunnel with a twenty-foot thick wall of earth. That should keep them occupied long enough to leave in peace, Phal said with amusement, turning around and trotting after Voenth.

Voenth gave Phalynx a knowing look, then continued on his journey. He decieded to follow the trails of the giant snake had left. He continued walkign down the tunnel, the skeletons of past victims littering the ground around them. He said, "If we continue to follow this, we will likely get to our goal destination, but, well, we may end up getting to some sort of dead end. What do you think?

Re: The Long Journey
Phal smiled and followed after Voenth, though she kept one ear on the path behind them, listening for goblins. She glanced down at the elf when he made his suggestion. It seems a worthy enough plan for now. I cannot see any physical dead ends, and I can't see any path that looks better. Until I do, this path is as good as any and probably better, she replied, bending down to sniff the trail. Even with her poor sense of smell, she could detect the foul odor that the viscious snake had left.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth gave Phalynx a nervous smile then lead the way down the small, winding tunnel. He looked about at the low celing and saw that small water droplets were forming on the short, but still sharp stalagmites, and were even falling down onto the stalagtites. He continued to follow the path until it widened into a large chamber. He looked about at the surrounding boulders as well as the large mound at the other end and whispered, "Phalynx, those boulders are not natural, it is like something put them there, can you tell what is behind them, if anything?"

Re: The Long Journey
Phal trotted up into the larger chamber, and then came to a stop slightly in front of the elf. She examined the other end carefully, her eyes narrowing. When Voenth asked her about the boulders, she nodded. Tunnels. There are tunnels behind them. I do not know why someone would put hidden tunnels near a chamber that a large snake usese, though. Maybe they put the snake here, she replied, walking carefully forward, her attention drawn by the passages beyond.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth walked over to the stones, then began to move them aside, one by one the large boulders and rocks moved out of the way, until a small ray of light came into the cave. He looked at the silver dragoness behind him and gave her a hopeful smile, then began to dig even more. After a few hours, there was enough room for Phalynx and Voenth both to walke easily out of the cave. Voenth walked into the sunlight, simply happy to be out of the musty, small tunnels. He walked to a nearby tree and whistled loudly, soon after a small silver speck hurtled out of the sky and landed on a branch near them.

Re: The Long Journey
Phalynx helped the elf shift aside the largest of the rocks, still gazing out of the tunnel and towards the surface above. Her mind was on other things, mainly what had placed the rocks there. Had something wanted to trap the snake in here, with the goblins? Or perhaps just as a general trap? If it was for the goblins, that meant there had to be a motive for wanting them dead. Phal hardly thought the small creatures a threat to the demonic beasts they were tracking.
She walked out into the sunlight with Voenth, and smiled as the swift falcon hurtled down towards them. We are out of the tunnels, but where does the trail lead us now? she said.

Voenth looked at Phalynx and asid, "Well, I have no clue I was going to ask Arget that." then to Arget, then said, "So what news do you have?"
Arget'fethr screeched and said, Kree, I have much news, first off, the demons are people sacrificed, then magic is used upon them, a simple stab to the heart, or a beheading will kill them. Secondly, the entire area supports them, meaning that they could be hiding anywhere, just waiting on us. It is also likely that the goblins are the enemies of the people, wherever they are. And, here we are safe, we left their territory. But, we are not out of rech. I suggest that we find help.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal nodded and looked at Arget, waiting for his news. She immediately rose her head and scanned the area when she heard the demons could be hiding anywhere. They are hiding "anywhere," she growled, her eyes narrowed, There are a few in a forest a few miles back the way we came. And there are two underground, in some tunnels not far from here. Luckily, the tunnels they are in do not lead to the surface anywhere nearby, she announced, hoping the demons in the forest would not notice them until they were ready. She was saddened by the news of the sacrificial magic, and wondered how anyone could do such things.

Voenth gave a sigh of relief when Phalynx said the clostest two were under the ground and the others were far away. "You know, we will have to kill those people too, they will continue to create more and more monsters, unless they are killed." said the elf, as he leaned up against a nearby tree, deep within thought.
Arget'fethr screeched and said, Kree! I agree with Voenth, we will need to wipe this evil nation from the world. They are likely to re-gain power and if they do, the entire world will be at risk.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal sighed sadly. Why did the people allow themselves to be brainwashed in such a manner? Why did they carry out such hateful practices? You are right; they are a threat to the world. But it doesn't feel right just annihilating them... I wish we could simply show them the error of their ways. It wouldn't be that easy, though... she replied with a long, forceful breath.

"Well, at this moment, it is us or them. I too wish that we could let them live, but it is like the hydra, they are naught but pure evil, manipulative and if we do not rid the land of them, not only us, but our families, as well as offspring are at risk. We cannot allow evil any lee-way, it must be stopped, else the world will fall, if not by the hands of Galbatorix, or some other tyrant." said the elf as he began to calmly walk back in the direction of the city. He said, "I think I will do a little spying for the moment, Arget, will you be the go-between?"
Kree! Sure, I can do that, come, Phalynx, we have much to do before we can leave these lands!

Re: The Long Journey
Phal nodded. She agreed with Voenth, and understood the necessity of killing the evildoers... but she didn't like how he didn't seem to have very many qualms about doing so. This wasn't like usual, where their enemies were mindless killers or a single evil being. They would have to kill many.
She smiled at the falcon when he spoke. Yes, spying sounds like a good idea. I will fly very high above the city and watch from above. Don't worry; I'll fly high enough that people won't even be able to see me, she said, raising her wings and giving a few mighty flaps to whisk her slight frame into the air.

Voenth smiled and said, "Sure, you can even be a star at night, I will meet you there, we don;t have any time to waste, Arget'fethr, you be the go-between, I know it will be tough to fly as high as Phalynx, but I need you to let both of us know when something is happening." said the elf as he morphed into a wolf and loaped away at a great speed. He had no more time to talk, he was in a hurry.
Arget'fethr sighed awkwardly and said, I will try, it all depends on how high she flys. and winged away through the trees after Voenth.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal laughed. That is what I'm planning. And don't worry. At night I'll be able to fly much lower when I'm in my disguise. During the day, I can hide behind a cloud when Arget comes to visit me, she replied with a smile. She waited for her friends to leave before setting off herself. She had to avoid being seen. During the day, that was very tough. Her sparkly scales were a dead giveaway, even in dimmer light. She slowly rose into the air, ascending in a long spiraling motion. Finally, she was high enough to begin the short flight to the city without being noticed. As she soared, she gained yet more height, just in case anyone was really watching the skies. She glanced beneath her from time to time as well, zooming up on the ground to track Voenth's and Arget's progress.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth continued to run, however, he stopped some fifty yards form the village. He mrphed back into an elf, then casted spells, one after another to change his look. First were his eyes, he made them a dark brown, then his hair, he made it long and shaggy, brown also. He grew a beard, not a long one, but a short one. Then, he casted a spell over hsi clothes, changing them into a simple green homespun smock and tattered pants. He also changed Let'hjartha and Rathur'gata, into simply old slightly rusted steel swords. Then, he changed his ears, and walked into the city.
Arget'fethr flew ito the top of a nearby tree to observe the on-goings of Voenth's spying.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal noticed the faint trails of magic around Voenth far below, and realized that he was changing his appearance to one more inconspicuous amongst the people of the village. Nice face, Voenth, she called with a laugh. She reached the area directly over the town, and checked her altitude. She was too high to be noticed by the humans, but also too high for Arget to safely reach her. She scanned the skies for clouds, and breathed out in relief when she saw a nice large one heading towards the sky over the town and beneath her. It would cover the sky for a while, and then there would only be a short time before dusk, when she could get lower and disguise herself as a star.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth said, Heh, thanks, I didn't have much time to give it much thought, but I guess it will do. said the elf mentally to the dragoness as he entered the village. The entire place was rank with the scent of blood and decay. There was mold, and fungi growing all over the walls and buildings. The people had a somewat haunted expression on their faces, and they stared nervously at the stranger. They were al very pale and gaunt. They sared hollow-eyed at Voenth. The elf walked through the town with small shuffeling steps, to make himself seem less odd to the villagers. He came to a large house and knockd on the door.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal laughed at Voenth's response. She was in a cheerful mood, for some reason, despite the forlorn mood of the town. The people moved about slowly, and they didn't give off a healthy amount of heat. Be careful not to catch a disease in there. The place looks rather infested, she said to the elf as he walked along through the dark streets. Phal continued to soare on the powerful winds of the higher air, keeping her wings outstretched and parachuted to catch thermals.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth waited patiently as a grotesque man with a chubby face and a skinny body answered the door. The man said, "Ou ar yu?! We ain't calld nary a one o yu menstralks her! Anywa cmon in her, we aint got no vittles, nor drink, but tis comforable enuf fer the likes o you." said the rude and ugls man as he seated Voenth on a small oaken chair, the one thing in the soom that didn's seem to be rotting. It was some time before anyone else came into the room. It was for once a decently healthy looking man. He was fat and very cheery looking. He saic, "Hello there, welcome to my home. I am theleader of the villagers here, Hroth's the name, foods my game, now what can I intrest you in?" asked the man.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal continued her observance of the activities in the house, her interest rising when she saw the fatter man go towards Voenth. She couldn't hear what was happening, but she knew something the man would eventually do something interesting. Meanwhile, outside the house, the village seemed as dreary as ever. Phal did not see anything of interest happening there, at least for the time being.

Voenth looked at the man and said, "Information. I need some information, about where I am and why everything I have seen seems to look dead. Can you help me out?" ashed the elf in desguise. He and the man conversed far into the night, and when the time came, Voenth said, "Well, it was good talking to you, I will be back tomorrow." and he walked into the inn and went to his room and relayed the information to Arget'fethr.
After hearing the news, Arget'fethr flew up and told Phalynx about what was going on.
OOC: I will assume you have an idea as to wher this is going, if not, i can edit my post.

Re: The Long Journey
OOC: Something of an idea, but I'll let you elaborate on the details.
IC: Phal let out a long, deep breath of relaxation as the stars began to come out. She let her light flicker to life, at first dim and then as bright as any of the other silver points. She let herself sink gently lower in the cool air. She was close enough to the building and the room with Voenth to see more of the details, and watch their conversation. She still could not hear it, unfortunately.
She saw a small shape fluttering up towards her, the shape of a falcon. Arget reached her and relayed much of Voenth's gathered information. Phal nodded quietly at each piece of news, glad that they had more knowledge on the cause of the dismal landscape. The man seemed to have given Voenth some valuable bits of information, but Phal would have to see how valuable when she conversed with the elf.
The dragoness spent most of the night hovering above the town, but she finally decided that sleep would do her well. She waited for a cloud to pass beneath her, and ceased her glow. Phal flew away and further off into the night, seeking a sheltered area outside the town. All she could find was a grove of dead trees, which would not hide her very well. Phal sighed, knowing she would have to keep herself in a light sleep.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth, late that night found out a particularly important piece of information. He silently left the room and snuck out of the city. Once under the cover of the surrounding trees, he chape-shifted into a wolf. He then ran silently through the forest, until he picked up the scent of Phalynx. He came upon the sleepign dragoness and said, Phalynx! The village is going to have a huge "celebration" in a few days, that si when their "chosen" will become those demonic beings that we fought eariler!

Re: The Long Journey
Phal's eyes snapped open when she heard something approaching. She saw a wolf running towards her, and in less than a second recognized it as Voenth's wolf form. She lifted her head as he darted into the grove of trees, his face excited even with its canine features. A celebration for their demon-choosing? Hm. Well, we could use this as an opportunity to see what happens to the demons, and then follow them. They could lead us straight to the demon "base." It would be nicer if we could rescue them, but these people seem misled beyond help, Phal said, her tone turning regrettful as she continued. She didn't like that they would have to slaughter creatures that had once been human. She hoped dearly that they could find a way to stop the ritual permanently without killing the humans that practiced it, most of all.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth nodded to the now awake dragoness and said, I have to get back before they notice that I am gone, sleep well, the guards are not even looking this way, and besides there are only two. You should be safe through the night. said the elf as he ran away into the night, his silver fur flashing once, then dissappearing.
He ran up to the gate, then morphed back into a human. He walked into the city without incident, even into his room, but when eh walked in, he was grabbed, and before he could yell, or say anything a bundel of burning herbs was thrust into his face and he passed out.
Three days later, Voenth woke up. The fat man he had talked to was standing in front of him. He smiled and said, "You asked too many questions, much too many. Then, when his vision cleared, he saw that the man's body was changing. It was the woman! She had tricked him. He could not talk with his mind, morph, ot use his magic, and he was tied to the wall behind him and was far under the ground. His only hope was for someone to realize that something was wrong and come looking for him.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal said a brief farewell to Voenth as he raced away, and then closed her eyes. She drifted back into a peaceful sleep. The next few days, however, brought no peace at all.
It started the next day. Phal returned to her flight above the village, but could not find Voenth. She guessed he was ssomewhere within the town that she had not found yet, and so thought nothing of it. She left for a midday meal and returned in the afternoon, only to find that the elf was still missing. She spent the rest of the day searching for him, extending her mind and looking carefully through each building. She was forced to sleep that night.
The next day was worse. She frantically searched for Voenth for hours, but could finally search no longer. They must have captured him, and took him somewhere else. How will I find him? Phal thought anxiously. She had no way of getting into the town and asking questions, or even finding a scent trail. And Voenth's magic traces had disappeared within hours of his own disappearance. She had no way of tracking him.
Phal searched around the perimeter of the town, looking for scents that lead out. However, the whole day's search yielded nothing. No one had been outside of the town for the whole time Voenth had been missing. There was only one other place for them to have taken Voenth; down.
Phal was forced to sleep that night once more, vowing that she would find an entrance into the tunnels and find Voenth the next day. When she awoke, she ate quickly and got straight to it. Her sight revealed several caves below the town, and the most direct way she could see was the entrance of a tunnel leading right into the basement of the large house Voenth had been in. That, however, would attract too much attention. So Phal searched outside of the town.
She eventually found another entrance outside, and clawed her way in through the roots, weeds, and dust that had covered the sinkhole. She dropped smoothly into the tunnel below, the air clouding up with dust behind her. She wasted no time, and set off immediately down the tunnel and towards the town. By the time she caught the scent-trails of humans, night had fallen outside.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth face was palid. He had a haunted and gaunt look. He had been the source of entertainment to the demonic beings, he had been submitted to all sorts of torture, and he was not far from insanity. He lay on the side fo the tunnel, his arms bound and bleeding from the cuts caused by his wrists rubbing the shackles. He looked about, his eyes wild, his hair all over his face, giving him the appearance of a wild man. He cut his eyes sharply the woman was coming back ... oh no...

Re: The Long Journey
Phal heard and saw humans ahead, and knew that Voenth could not be far. She bared her teeth ferociously and tensed her muscles. With a sudden bound, she sprang through the wooden door and let out a powerful blast of starfire that engulfed the entire room. Humans screamed in pain and terror, and she heard clinks and scrapes as other humans prepared to fight. Phal did not linger, though. She darted through a tunnel and snatched up a human who was in her way, flinging him against the stone wall with a sickening crack.
Phal continued to fight her way down the hall. She could now see her friend, identified by the faint swirls of magic around him. She could tell he was weak, even from this distance; he wasn't giving off a healthy amount of heat. Voenth! I'm coming! she cried, pressing her mind against his to let him know she was close. She clawed at a group of humans who were approaching and ran through their midst, heading down. However, the soldiers and guards were growing too thick, and pressing in on all sides. Phal ignited her scales in a burst of intense light, blinding them all and allowing her to get through. She saw the soldiers reach to shield their eyes, but then stop. Magic was seeping into their eyes, magic stemming from another human in the room with Voenth. A magician. The men, now with eyes resistant to the intense light, now swirled around her again.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth screamed in pain as the woman jabbed him in the side with her pointed staff. The wicked woman smiled cruely. She said, "And to think, had you not asked those questions about out holiday, you would not be in this situation, ELF!" screamed the crazed woman as she jabbed him again. Voenth curled into a ball, his mind dangerously close to breaking under the mental and physical pressures around him. Then, he snapped! He stood up, with newfound energy, and with "super" strength, tore the shackeles from the wall. He screamed loudly, his eyes were dark red, he was crazy. It was just like when he was Galbatorix's prisoner. He now knew neither his friend or enemy, all were a threat...

Re: The Long Journey
Phalynx clawed and slashed wildly, her wings yearning to lift from her back and take her into the air. She hated fighting on the ground amid such swarms of humans. They poured in around her, jabbing and scratching. Though their weapons did not do much, together they could easily kill her. Luckily, her weapons were much more effective. Another burst of starfire cleared the room. Phal could see more running down the tunnels, but for now she had a brief respite. She ran into the larger room containing Voenth, who had broken free. Phal froze at the entrance, disturbed by the look in his eyes. Something had made the elf go crazy. A woman in the room seemed the most likely culprit. Phal hissed, baring her teeth. She stalked towards the woman, her body the very embodiment of what it meant to be the most powerful predator in existance.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth saw the starry dragoness leap into the room, in his crazed astate he did not see her as a friend, and so, leapt at her, swinging the chains and broken shackles like a mace. He had to getfree, and no-one would or could stnad in his path. So, wiht a blood-curdling scream, the elf leapt at his once friend... However, with his anger, he leapt too high and went over the side of the dragoness. He turned and, while gnashing his teeth, attacked again. His chains swung, and made a silvery blur, while the constant thrumming of the swinging chains made an eerie sound.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal's suspicions were confirmed when Voenth suddenly turned and ran towards her. She ducked down when he leapt, and swung herself to face him where he landed. Phal watched as several other soldiers ran into the room, and she ran towards them. She snarled and batted them to the side, and swung her tail to knock them into the room and near the elf. Hopefully he would go for them for now, leaving her the opportunity to attack the woman. The dragon turned, but the woman was already gone, having fled the room when the elf went crazy and the dragon entered. Phal frowned and turned back towards the fight. Voenth was now separated from her by a horde of soldiers, and Phal began to fight the ones still streaming into the room.

Voenth snarled angrily when the soldiers came into the room. The men swarmed him, splitting him up from his origional target. So, he began to attack, this flailign chains and shackles cut down man after man, but for every one he slew, two more came in its place. Still, he could do nothing else, so he killed, he had to kill. His chains kept up their low, vicious thrum as they wreaked both death and destruction. Finally, he saw an escale route. He took it. He ran out of the room and into the city, where he began to kill the villagers, one by one. Until, that is he saw the shadoes of the demonic monsters over him. He looked up, and they attacked.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal continued to fight off soldiers, but eventually she saw that Voenth was escaping. He was heading up a tunnel that lead into the town above. Phal gasped and ran after him, afraid of what he would do. He would probably get attacked as well, and she couldn't let him get hurt. She fought her way past the soldiers, running up the tunnel until she broke into an old building. Voenth was already outside, killing villagers. A few demons were swarming towards him, and began their attack as well. Phal roared and broke out of the wooden walls, breathing a stream of starfire at the demons. One screeched as it was burned to death; the others escaped and raced away for a few moments. It was then that nets and ropes sailed out of nowhere, hurled from above and to the sides and streaming over Phal's back.

Voenth snarled angrily when the demonic monsters attacked him, but was suprised to see the dragoness heping him. He continued to attack the villagers until he heards the clanking of chains, and roaps, as well as nets. He turned to see the villagers, as well as close to twenty of the demons netting the dragoness. He angrily tore himself away from the screaming group of men he had been persuing ant attacked the people netting the dragoness. He screamed in a language entirely unknown, it sounded like mindledd babble, but it was more...

Re: The Long Journey
Phal roared angrily, trying to get away. She realized that it was already too late to fight the chains and nets, or she would get further entangled. Instead, she settled on burning the ropes and the creatures nearby. Voenth seemed to regain a little of his helpfullness when he began to attack the beasts as well. Phal broke the enchantments of one of the nets on her, and breathed her flame over it, setting the ropes ablaze. Though it was a little painful to have it burning away on her back, she could deal with it. It was then that she heard Voenth yell out in some strange language. Phal paused, unsure if it would have an affect on anything.

Voenth finished his fit of screaming as a powerful wind came upon the area. The demons that were flying were swiftly blown away, to the East, Voenth's eyes were alight with the lust of battle. He whirled the chains about as he attacked the others. He killed many, but tooka hard knock to the back of his head. He whirled about, and the workd began to spin. His eyes rolled into the back of his head and he fell.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal struggled, snapping at the remaining ropes to break them. The chains, however, were still being flung on her. Voenth was fighting ferociously, and a magical wind swept the demons away. More and more chains were piling up, though, and Phal's fire was being deflected by the magic-user. No! she cried, her struggles growing more and more frantic and uncontrolled as she fought to be free. Her wings ached for the sky, and every part of her was screaming for freedom. Voenth was knocked unconscious, and Phal roared, desperate to get both him and herself out. However, the chains were streaming on too thick. She managed to snap the weaker ones, but all together they were too strong to break. And Voenth was too near for her to use any form of radiation against the people. Phal realized, panicking, that she was becoming exhausted.

Re: The Long Journey
OOC: Sorry, but passs, Voenth is out for now, and I think I will allow him to be un-crazy for a while, at least until he sees the woman again, and something snaps again.

Re: The Long Journey
OOC: Okay... I'll try to post something then. IC: Phal realized fearfully that she could not get free. She couldn't break the chains, or melt them, or pull loose. She hadn't the energy. She had one last trick, though. She sank to the ground, feigning unconsciousness. Her whole body went limp. Just as she suspected, the humans loosened their grips on the chain. With a sudden lurch, Phal bolted forward, grabbed Voenth, and was free of most of the chains in her powerful jump. She jumped away further, twisting her body back around to pull free of the few chains that were still on her.
I don't think so, dragon, a cruel voice said from behind her. Phal lashed out with her tail, but she knew the woman was too far away for her to get. She continued to struggle, breathing starfire before her and lashing her tail crazily. More humans rushed upon her on all sides, flinging chains and ropes. Phal kept pulling, getting herself more and more free. She finally got down to the last couple chains, just in time to see a group of demons approaching. Phal growled and wrenched herself away. She opened her massive wings and beat them powerfully, raising herself and five humans who were still holding on from the ground. The chains slipped from her body and fell, and Phalynx was free.
She raced away, out of reach of the humans, but the demons were closing in on her in her tired state. She winced as a few arrows stung her hips and back, but continued. She found a grove of trees outside of town to set Voenth in, and then turned. Phal jumped back into the air to meet the demons.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth stirred. He weakly looked about the small grove and mumbled something inaudible. He slowly, and painfully sat up. He quietly looked about and saw that nothign was there. He quietly limped over to the edge of the trees. There, he saw in the dim light the dragoness, Phalynx, fighting a large group of the demonic beasts. He painfully walked out of the trees and yelled as loudly as his hoarse voice would allow, "Hey, leave her alone, fight me!" yelled the elf, hoping to distract them so that Phalynx would have a chance to kill them.

Re: The Long Journey
Phal panted as she stared down at the creatures charging at her. They had only one desire; to kill her, and they knew that she knew it. She also knew that they revelled in her knowledge that they would have to fight until either she or they were killed. She hovered silently, waiting. When they were close enough, she sent out a large cloud-like blast of starfire. They avoided the flames, only to be blinded by the intense light she poured off her body. She dove towards one of the demons, digging her claws and teeth ferociously into its chest and throat.
The others realized what she was doing and moved to surround her. Phal cut off her light and swung out her wings, managing to catch the wing of another one. She lashed out with her tail as she dove, getting under them. The demons followed her, though, like a horde of evil. She noticed as one of them drifted away, distracted by Voenth.

Re: The Long Journey
Voenth limped about the clearing as the ugly beasts chased after him. It would have been amazingly comical had it nto been for the fact that the monsters were trying to chase him and kill him. He ran as swiftly as his horrendous wounds will allow, then he remembered, his weapons were back in the town. He said to himself, Damn, that was the most idiotic thing I have ever done, I cannto tell anyone, maybe Phalynx never saw it...
OOC: Lol! I can just see that in my head, an elf with a cartoonish bandage all the way up to his knee with crutches running around a small group of trees with an ugly looking devil(ish) thing with wings flying after him, lol!!!

Re: The Long Journey
Phal twisted herself around and raked her claws along the back of a demon as she flew up, thrashing her tail around to catch some of them with it. She stopped her upward flight to let out a blast of starfire into the midst of the group, spreading them apart. She dove back down at one and landed on its back, gripping its neck in her teeth and biting down. The beast fell to the ground, dead, and she flew away to another one. She felt claws scratch her hip, and kicked out with her leg, knocking the demon back. She jerked her wing forward and stabbed another demon in the chest with her thumbspike. There were still several more demons, but she was feeling more confident that she could beat them.
