Re: catcher in the rye. I hated it! Holden could not talk without saying 10 words in a sentence and 5 of them being curse words.
I found it very disturbing that his parents lost a child and not even talked about it. That is not the way you should grieve a loved one. No wonder there was so much anger in that character. _________________ ~.~.~.~.~.~ |

Re: catcher in the rye. well holden thought every1 was 'phony' rite? basically he was 'holden' on to his childhood too much, dats y he wanted to b a catcher in the rye, to save kids from having to grow up and join the phoniness of society. he thought childhood was the only true phase of innocence of life and dats y he held on to it so much. it was basically a story of a kid growing up and the difficulties he had doing it

Re: catcher in the rye. this is a great book, (i went to boarding school for high school, Gow incase you want to know the name of the school i went to and 99.9% of the student body wanted to run from the school but for other reasons) back on topic this book gave me a headake because how deep you had to read in to it.

Re: catcher in the rye. ugh...I have to do this huge term paper in English this year, its only for the juniors, and I have to read these 2 books by Maya Angelou, which I wud never just pick up and read. Y can't they just let us read books we actually LIKE? so then mayb we'd actually develop a habit of reading instead of having to read long, boring, and complicated books!!
