From the desk of Sauron - August 2007
Hi there!
I'm using this as my own personal topic to talk about what I'm doing currently and any interesting issues I come across. I'll be creating a new topic roughly every month, depending if anything interesting is happening to me. I guess this is sort of a newsletter.
Anyway, recently I began to plot out my prequel and my trilogy that follows. That is all going very well, and I am rather excited at the prospect of this challenge. I'm even more excited because these scenes in my head which will be part of my project have been stuck in my head fir quite sometime. I suppose its not the wisest thing - taking on a four book project as a first time writer, but I have had experience before, in my futile attempts at writing a story. However, it faded out after 100 pages or so, because i had no clue as to where I was going. I think that I learned that plotting a book is the most important part of writing, because once you have the plot firmly in hand then writing should be fairly straightforward. However new ideas come to you as you write, and thats part of the fun of it!
I will probably complete the plotting of the four books sometime next month, possibly earlier, but also possibly later. Then oh so wonderful, I will begin writing the prequel, the title of which I have not fully decided upon yet. This is really just a challenge to myself, and the books I am plotting out are books that I, myself, will enjoy reading.
My time is not entirely free, though. Recently i was issued an english assignment which is due in a matter of weeks, and I haven't so much as glanced at it yet.
If you've finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and while you wait for Book III of Inheritance, I have below, some recommended titles:
The Bartimaeus Trilogy - Jonathan Stroud
The Ranger's Apprentice Series - John Flanagan
The Belgariad series - David Eddings
The Hobbit - JRR Tolkien
The Children of Hurin - JRR Tolkien and edited by Christopher Tolkien.
Enjoy.
