Nesa
Name: She is Néçtznäladach (Nesh-tsn-Ay-lah-dash) in the tongue of the Fanghür. Due to the difficulty of pronouncing her name by other beings, she likes to be called by the much shorter nickname Nesa.
Age: 35
Gender: Female
Race: Fanghür
Eyes: Forest green with large flecks of reflective amber gold
Scale Color: Mottled Dark Green, Brown, Dull Yellow, and small flecks of Bright Orange
Home Village: She was born in a shallow cave on a cliff directly above the golden dome of Tarnag
Family: Both parents are deceased with no siblings. Her father never told her his name.
Skills: Mental Screech ~ Like all Fanghür, Nesa is able to emit a powerful, screeching mental assault that penetrates some of the hardest minds and can temporarily disable and confuse the victim. It is naturally meant for hunting, but serves as a powerful defensive, or even offensive weapon that even their higher cousins, the Dragons are weary of. However it requires a high amount of concentration, so a distraction usually is all that it takes to cease the attack.
Blinding Sight ~ A unique ability she inherited from a long line of champion Fangs like herself, this ability allows her to temporarily blind anyone who makes eye contact with her. She can disable the ability so friends can look upon her without fear. The blindness usually will last from several minutes to a half an hour.
Sonic Roar ~ A devastating power that Nesa uses only in distress or anger, she can create a terrifying roar that is literally deafening at close range, and can be heard from several miles away. The ability is useful in both disabling an enemy and calling for help over very long distances. However, she must be careful to have allies or innocents out of range or they will suffer the same damaging effects.
Nerve Block: A powerful ability that Nesa has yet to master, if she can grab hold of any exposed part of another creature, or especially when she touches it with her long tongue, she can cause a loss of sensation and paralysis of where she touched, and if done in the right place (such as where a major nerve is) she can deaden an entire limb temporarily. However, sometimes this works, sometimes it does not. She has yet to know what truly sets the ability off, and may accidentally paralyze anyone who touches her.
Character's Physical Description: Being a Fanghür, many outside Nesa's race may call her a hideous, or terrifying look-alike of a dragon, but among her race, she could be considered one of the fairest among them. She is quite young for a champion Fang, and thus smaller than many of the older warriors at about 10 feet tall and 50 long, with a thin serpentine body, but her physique is far superior to others. Her scales are clean, her muscles are solid as rocks, her teeth and claws are sharp and white, and her horns are perfectly shaped, which is usually what determines status in their race, with gender being of little consequence unlike other races. Her eyes glow with an animalistic ferocity that matches her beastly appearance, yet behind it one can see the high intelligence and care she holds deep inside. She holds no immediately visible scar on her body, as a scar to a Fanghür means you had been hit in battle, something that degrades their status. However, if you look under her right forepaw, she holds a hidden scar from a clash with her father many years ago. Her camouflage skin is great for hiding in forested areas. In the air however, she stands out.
Character History: Nesa was born in a shallow cave above Tarnag, under the watchful eye of her father, who was a well known leader of the nearby nests. Nesa herself grew up in a rather quiet and simple life until the dwarves discovered their location when she was around ten years of age. The surrounding Fanghür were hunted down and killed by angry parties of dwarves in revenge for the actions of a few rather idiotic Fangs that hunted their flocks. Forced to leave their home, her father took her and led the remaining Fangs down to the northern edge of the Beors in hopes that the dwarves wouldn't hunt their group to extinction. Nesa became frustrated at one point about leaving and lashed out against her father. He responded with a quick slash aimed at her eye, but she instead received the wound to the underside of her forepaw, preserving her status as a potential champion, but still dishonoring her and teaching her a lesson about humility. Under her father's strict and harsh tutelage, she became a powerful warrior of the Fanghür, learning to fight and learning use her powers to disable senses, and eventually she became the strongest of the small group that survived the dwarven raids near Tarnag. But then, one afternoon, a raft filled with dwarves and a couple strange, taller folk floated down the river that led from Tarnag. However, unlike other rafts that pass by to the flat, green fields beyond, a blue creature jumped out of the water, one of the tall creatures perched on it's back. It appeared to be a Fanghür at first, but larger, bulkier, and of a stunning blue color with reflective scales that dazzled Nesa. However her father only told her to stay back as he and two of the other strongest Fangs he knew flew after it. Nesa could only watch, stunned as the blue creature first inspected the other Fangs in curiosity, then attack when it began to be assaulted mentally. It was far more agile than it appeared and to Nesa's surprise, it turned about and struck Nesa's father in the chest, causing him to retreat back. But before he could arrive, she saw another sight, one that amazed her beyond belief: the strange creature spawned from it's mouth a terrific display of blue fire unlike anything she had ever seen before, which scared away the two other Fangs. Her father returned to her nest, mortally wounded from the impact to the chest and barely breathing. Nesa was only able to find out from him that the creature was a dragon; a long hated enemy of the Fanghür, and that her father only was protecting her from it's power by going in her stead, before he died of his injuries. Nesa then decided to herself, despite what her father said, to seek out these dragons, and see what they truly were; holding no anger against the blue dragon for slaying her father. She didn't truly love him anyway. The tribe had already been scattered by the blue dragon's passing, so she was free to leave. While leaving, she stole the knowledge of both the common tongue and dwarvish from passing by dwarves and the tall creatures which she found to be called "men" so as to communicate with anyone outside of her seclusive species, which would be considered idiotic for a normal Fang. Then she began heading West towards where the civilization of these men is supposed to be, following the rumor of dragons living there, hopefully to figure out herself what these spectacular creatures are, if they share anything in common, and even to maybe explore the world and possibly bring peace to her race by easing the aggression between them.
Character Personality: Unlike the common misconceptions about her race, Nesa is a very intelligent creature, much like the dragons she is supposedly related to. (However, she cannot say the same to any other creatures of her species, as communications between nests of them are minimal, and the others may all be dumb animals) To an outsider, she would be considered to be an aggressive, stoic, and independent being, with a hidden soft spot for the beauty in nature and a great desire to see wondrous sights such as the dragons, or the great golden city of Tarnag. To another Fang, she would be considered to be soft. To those that she considers a friend or ally she would protect as much as her abilities allow, but the primal instinct for survival also runs strong in her, and she may also retreat if she knows that she cannot win. She also tends to think strategically in terms of battles but sometimes her choices may not be the best. She could not speak the human or dwarf tongue for most of her life, but at the sacrifice of a few scouts from both races did she rip the knowledge from their head so she could communicate with those outside of her rather secluded race. Her emotions are kept under control, usually out of habit from her training, and she fears that excessive emotion might set off some of her natural sense stunning abilities on accident. She considers herself to be rather humble due to her tough childhood, and personally hopes that finding and befriending dragons may help her find out more about herself than the limited knowledge her strict father had taught her, and maybe even improve the stereotype of her race in the eyes of the outsiders and cease the aggression against them.
Weapons: Claws and fangs are her normal attack weapons. She also will attack with the infamous sense disabling abilities of the Fanghür if she or another she wants to protect is threatened. However, as strong as she is, she is not built to last long against stronger opponents, so she prefers to injure and retreat while her enemy is distracted instead of fighting to the death.
Likes: Dragons, other Fangs, wondrous natural or manmade sights, exploring, fire
Dislikes: Dwarves, weapons, defiled natural places, destroyed cities
Weakness/Fear: If she meets a dragon and only is met with hostility; encounters an enemy resistant to her sense disabling abilities
Dreams for the Future: Attempt to create a positive image for her race. Starting by seeking out a dragon and getting to know it. Possibly to befriend it and help it in what it needs.
Reasons for Dreams: Nesa's curiosity for her cousin race appeared after a magnificent blue dragon had recently killed her rather strict father in front of her eyes. And although she was sad for a while, she forgave whoever did it and wanted to see what these creatures truly were. She wants for her race to come out of the shadows of the Beors and finally make themselves known to the world as a worthwhile race and as friends to the majestic dragons instead of enemies.
Alignment/Side: She is independent for the moment, but she might join the side that most dragons fight on (the Varden's side) if she befriends one. She might also fall to Galbatorix's side if persuaded otherwise.
