I remember one, I think it was called little princess- it was so sad, it's about a girl who's mother is dead, and her father has to go and fight in the war, so she is sent to boarding school. Her father goes missing in the war, and is presumed dead, so the school keep her as a servant, and she has to live in horrible conditions. Actually, her father has memory loss, and is staying in the house next door, and one day the girl goes there, sees him and runs to hug him, but the police were called because she escaped or whatever, and she can't get to her father, and he doesn't even recognise her. It's pretty sad.

I'd have to say all the movies that were mentioned in the previous posts are sad. Especially Armaggeddon(sp?) and ROTK.

It's main plot:
Each spring in the little port town of Beaufort, North Carolina, Landon Carter remembers his senior year at Beaufort High and Jamie Sullivan, the girl who changed his life. Serious and conservative, Jamie was as far from cool as she could possibly be, and didn't care. Landon hung with the in-crowd an aimless, moody, reckless guy who breezed through school on looks and bravado and had no plans, no future and no faith in himself. When a prank goes terribly wrong landing a kid in the hospital, Landon is assigned to tutor a young student on the weekends and participate in the Drama Club's spring play. Clearly in over his head with both assignments, Landon is forced to ask Jamie for help. Soon, against his own expectations and the scorn of his friends, Landon finds himself falling in love with this outwardly plain girl who possesses a passion for life he never imagined possible.

They fall in love, but she tells him she has lukemia and she is going to die.
It's sooooo sad but romantic :cry:

The guardian isn't all sad but the end is:

Ashton Kuture: I won't let go!

The Trainer undoes his glove purposely and falls out of Ashton's grip into the ocean

A lot of movies make me cry, but a Walk to Remember really did get me.

I know someone who works with my mom and her boyfriend has really bad cancer everywhere and even though he may die soon he's going to marry her next month, just so they can be together, because she's been taking care of this guy for so long :cry: :cry: :cry:

That movie reminds me of it now, its so romantic but so so SAD! :cry:

Pay it back was pretty sad. Whale Rider was really depressing until the end.

The Fountain, by far. Starred Rachel Weisz (who voiced Saphira :D ) and Hugh Jackman, that was a sad movie all the way through. Kinda difficult to catch on with the plot tho.
Pan's Labyrinth also, although that had a mixed depression factor. It was sad because the girl died, but it was happy because her abusive stepfather died also. And she went to heaven, or the Underworld, whichever you believe in.

Pan's Labyrinth is really good. Extremely bloody when there is fighting though.

Going a different way. SPOILERS
In the remake of Dawn of the Dead, the main characters stage a break for the coast and end up there. One of the buses is destroyed, and then the main security guard is killed defending the bus. At the end, its only the nurse, police officer and two kids who are alive. There's this other guy with them, but he stays behind because he's behind cut. He watches them leave and then puts the gun to his head. Boom.

I love Pans labrinth its so cool. Anyway here is a few sad ones that I can just think of now.

* Pans labyrinth
* Godzilla - lol I used to always cry when godzilla died
* Corpse bride
* Titanic
* Grave of fireflies

Of course I've seen HEAPS more but these are the random. Corpse bride is not really sad but my sister said to put that in [-( Grave of fireflies is one of my fav movies. Its this anime movie about two kids a boy and his younger sister surviving in harsh conditions.( Spoiler don't read on!!!) and eventually the little girl gets sick and dies while the boy keeps seeing ghosts of her playing with the fireflies.

Post Re: sadest movie
The Constant Gardener---- it's a spy/thriller movie. It's one of the only books and movies that I thought were both the same. I saw the movie first and then read the book. It's a very sad story.

I don't know the name of the film as it was a film fest a long time ago, but the summary of the film was about a boy who is afraid to die because he has cancer. When his grandfather dies, his grandfather leaves a series of clues for the boy to follow to a potion he made that will make the boy live a full life. All the clues involve the boy getting close to death. In the end when he finally gets the potion he decides that he doesn't need it and gives it to a kid he bullied who is dying of cancer. In the end he goes away, knowing he could die soon, but he no longer fears death.

The other one was another film at a film fest, all I can remember about the title was that it involved Fireflies. It's about a Japanese girl struggling with her life after her father is killed and her mother gets engaged almost right after. The day her father dies, she has a dream about him in some woods smiling at her and then walking away. Anyway, she has to go and live with her relatives and starts visiting an old woman that is going to die soon. (Sensing a theme with the movies here?) Later in the movie it is revealed the old woman was an actress and after she dies the girl looks around old movie stories searching for a movie the old woman had a poster of. At the end of the film she finds the movie and begins to watch it. The movie is of the old woman, a young girl in the movie, watching a man walk into the woods like her father did in her dream. It's a rather sad movie, but I can't do it justice by telling you about it.
