Eragons Dreams
His Dreams have been saying alot about his later life. and most all of them have come true. Could he be somehow seeing into his own destiny with the powers of the dragons?

Re: Eragons Dreams
No one really knows. Some of his dreams may be predictions of the future, or not. The power of the dragons currently i under galbatorix's control, but eragon may somehow in the future take over and be able to free the dragons from his control. No one really knows what's going ot happen, and his dreams aren't really helping us, but he could still have more premonitions to go, in the next book.

Re: Eragons Dreams
Er, can I talk about one of Eragon's dreams specifically? It's the one in Deathwatch and I just found a terrifying new meaning to it while browsing around Inheritance Forums.
The Dream: He watched as a group of people on proud horses approached a lonely river. Many had silver hair and carried tall lances. A strange, fair ship waited for them, shining under a bright moon. The figures slowly boarded the vessel; two of them, taller than the rest, walked arm in arm. Their faces were obscured by cowls, but he could tell that one was a woman. They stood on the deck of the ship and faced the shore. A man stood alone on the pebble beach, the only one who had not boarded the ship. He threw back his head and let out a long, aching cry. As it faded, the ship glided down the river, without a breeze or oars, out into the flat, empty land. The vision clouded, but just before it disappeared, Eragon glimpsed two dragons in the sky.
Now here's the idea. Instead of this being the epilogue which is what it is normally thought to be, what if..... they're dead? What if the people are Eragon, Arya, Saphira, and Greenie, but they're dead and the ship is taking them to the afterlife? It's possible, isn't it? The place where the dream takes place would be a limbo of sorts. The man, who is most likely Roran, on the beach is probably close to death, but not close enough and he is lamenting the death of his cousin. Think about it, the ships are strange and fair. Even elven ships are built for practicality and not so much beauty. If they are in the afterlife, then that does not matter. It moves without oars, another thing that shows that they could be dead. Yes, magic could be being used, but how much energy would it take to move a ship, that is probably not exactly small, for who knows how long with magic? Okay, now I'm starting to scare myself.

and now you're scaring me! *shudders* If CP does that I'm going to hunt him down, get his autograph, tackleglomp him, then force him to watch Twilight and High School Musical.

i sure hope that eragon doesn't die. that would just end the whole thing there and no one would ever buy another book again.

Re: Eragons Dreams
But! If he died defeating Galby and bringing peace to Alagaesia it would be a sort of bittersweet ending.
And I shall join Alya if that happens.

Re: Eragons Dreams
Yeah, but if that were the ending how you describe it, or something similar.... it could be an excellent curveball piece of literature. Just for the fact that no one would ever expect them all to die, even in victory. The main criticism of these books is their relative predictability, even if they are entertaining. Anything that shakes that up in an interesting way is cool in my book.

Re: Eragons Dreams
That is a good potential meaning for the dream, and would make for just the type of shake up Paulini most likely knows his readers want. It seems pretty logical for that to be the meaning, more so than it being a regular epilogue.
I'd actually love it if that meaning were true!
But what of Thorn and Murtagh, what does this dream mean for them?

Re: Eragons Dreams
*shrugs* Maybe they live. It's a possibility. Or maybe they died. I mean, it's possible that it was only elves in Eragon's dream and only elves could go where they were going and since Eragon is practically an elf now, he could go there too. Murtagh on the other hand, is human.

Re: Eragons Dreams
I really doubt that CP will kill Eragon, Saphira and in addition Arya and Greeny. Mby 1-2 of them, but not all. 1 death is a trategy, many deaths are statistic.

Re: Eragons Dreams
If arya dies... i guess that's not so bad. She did break his heart, afterall. Saphira can't die. She just can't. Eragon, same thing. Nasuada, i don't know, but it definately can't be Saphira or Eragon because I say so! If they do, save a space for me, will ya, Alya?

Re: Eragons Dreams
What about the dream in Brisingr where there is an abandoned circular stone city with a singing girl wandering through the alleyways. What could that mean??

Re: Eragons Dreams
I'm not recallingthe dream, but it could be Roran's kid, or maybe Eragon's kid, or maybe one of the elf children?

Re: Eragons Dreams
I'm rereading Brisingr right now, I'll tell y'all when I find it. Personally I think it's Elva, but the only city I think it could be is Uru'baen, and I'm iffy on that.

Re: Eragons Dreams
lol the first time I read eldest, I kept skipping the parts about Roran and nasuada, because I only wanted to read the parts about eragon. I know I missed quite a few parts, so i reread it. It was cool.

Re: Eragons Dreams
Maybe Eragon is just good at having premonitions?
I agree with E+A about Eragon dreaming just after he's dead. Either that or he is dreaming about when he is leaving Alagasia.
