the redwall series are very nice. I've read em all... i just think they are very predictable... they all follow the same general plot. But they will be classics :D

The early book are the best. After the Pearls of Lutra (wrong spelling) I found that the stories become very bad and no justice was served in the end. I stopped reading them after Loemhedge.

Redwall is a normal fantasy series but to get the young readers into it he decide to have the heroes as mice, squirrels, voles, badgers, hares etc. Likewise the villians were rats and stouts etc. The books are very cheery, child like.

I don't think he made it just for the young readers... only it seems like it because he uses all the colloquial-seeming language

Now it's only for young readers. How can a castle full of old people and little people survive aganist an normal army?

and he only used critters from around whre he lived. and in a story, the author can do anything! and they did have soldiers.

Nope, some braindead rat had broken the gate and they were in a courtyard. They got defeated by soup.

it was an army against farmhands, but the farmhands won in an entirely believable way - there was no improbable turn of events unlike some strange stories. the abbeydwellers were resourceful and created effective makeshift weapons which in the end were the reason for victory

they never showcase / advertise jacques' work any more. last time if jacques wrote a new redwall book there would be posters everywhere. now info can only be found online or in bookstores... i only found out about high rhulain when i was browsing through a bookstore some weeks ago

ive read quite a few, but i think that some of the character transactions are fakish. in loamhedge, the badger gets all this stuff from the otters without giving them anything. just not realistic. and i agree that its impossible to find out about new books outside the net
