Dragon "Antennae"
Once again not sure if anyone will see this but I don't think anyone has said anything about this.
If you notice on the cover of all four books the dragons seem to have these things that I can only describe as Antennae branching out from their eyebrows. This must be a male and female characteristic because it is on all of the books. Neither do I remember reading about it in any of the books which I have read a substantial amount of times. Discuss:

Re: Dragon "Antennae"
I think it's just a design thing. It might be influenced by the art style of Chinese dragons, I seem to remember that style of dragon having something similar. I've never really thought much about them, not since I really got into the books. Although at first I did think they were a little strange. XD

Re: Dragon "Antennae"
I didn't notice it at first either but as I looked at the cover of Brisinger one day i realized that they were just out of place

Re: Dragon "Antennae"
Well, they're usually something like whiskers. They're definitely a design influence from eastern dragons. It was an art choice, as they're never mentioned in the books, as far as I can remember.

Re: Dragon "Antennae"
No, they were never mentioned in the books. They don't bother me now, they're just a part of the images. Although IMNC, when you said "whiskers" I pictured a big blue catfish.

Re: Dragon "Antennae"
Maybe because they're whispy, long, and don't seem to really do anything, unless they're on the face of a cat? Idk, either way, now that I'm used to JJP's style of Alagaesian dragons, they seem to give them character.

Re: Dragon "Antennae"
I don't think they are anything as important as whiskers or anything. Whiskers help animals and they're never mentioned at being used. I think they are just part of the artwork to give audiences a general idea of what the dragons look like.

Re: Dragon "Antennae"

Re: Dragon "Antennae"
They are the artist's interpretation of the description in the books. They're not necessarily what they look like. They look like how you imagine them. That's the beauty of books.
I said whiskers because that's always how I hear them called when describing eastern dragons. Catfish whiskers are right. That's what is meant by them.

Re: Dragon "Antennae"
I guess that makes sense I for one though am probably going to base what I think the dragons look like on the book covers

Re: Dragon "Antennae"
You'll also notice that the dragons on the book covers don't have any horns, even though dragons in the books are specifically described as having them.
