Graves of the Fallen

Gender: Guy Affiliation: Dragonriders Dragon: Avadius	Graves of the Fallen OOC: Anyone can join IC: Savania flew deep into Du Weldenvarden. Its was only her great curiosity that drove her this far deep into it and her urge to explore. She was far past any elf cities, at least that she knew of. She grew hungry and slightly tired, but carried on. She knew she could rest later, though the longer she flew she grew more tired until she flew lower to land on the ground through the trees. She was so deep into the forest that there were some creatures she was sure even the elves did not know of. She could feel through as she went in deeper a strange energy calling out to her. She had left most of what she knew behind, she wanted to embark on this journey on her own though she had know idea what was out there. She heard something in the distance, like a dark howl. She went closer and saw a strange hunched over figure sitting on a log. "Hello my young dragon. What might you be doing out here?" it asked. I'm just exploring here why do you ask? And why are you out here?Savania asked. The creature smirked at her. "You obviously don't know what I am do you dragon? Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter really. Now come, you look tired. How long have you been flying?" A few days. I'm looking for something to eat. I can't find much this deep into the forest. The creature smirked though it did not reveal its face or any sign of what it looked like, "Then come with me. You look tired, I'll take you to some shelter." Savania thought something was weird with this thing, but what ever it was, it seemed nice enough. She followed it even deeper and it took her to a large cave. "Here, rest in here, I will go get something to eat for both of us." it said, than walked off. Since Savania is El's sister. lol. IC: Elcyon flew over the Du Weldenvarden, a place she had only went to once before. It had been a while, but she wanted to see what was going on, especialy because odd things were beginning to happen around Alagaesia. She clutched her journal close to her side, wondering how long she can keep it with her once it was full. Perhaps she would start a library for all dragons to go and read of the adventures she experienced with her friends. As she was flying, she noticed a flash of silver from below. El narrowed her eyes to get a better look, when she noticed that a small silver dragon was being led into a cave by...some creature. It was too dark of a silver to be her friend Phal, so it had to have been her sister, Savania. She still had several questions to ask it once it returned, though for now she was content. She looked up when she heard someone call her name. To her surprise it was her sister Elcyon! I'm resting in here waiting for my friend to return he... I think its a he anyway said he'd go get food. I don't know what it is though. I was actually just flying deep into the forest when I grew tired and found it. What are you doing here Elcyon? she asked her sister. Savania looked around the cave and saw what looked like the remains of an old fire. She found Savania lying on the cave floor. Are you sure you can trust this...creature? she whispered. I mean, usually I would like to get to know the person first bfeore I trust them. Though as she thought about it she could hardily hear what it sounded like. Well, I'm just sure right now I can trust it. Besides, it doesn't appear to be able to use magic. I think we could kill it if it attacks. said Savania. Though she knew she was being a bit arrogant, she was sure that what ever it was she and Elcyon could fight it off. Oh ok, sounds fun. That's why I came this deep into the forest, mostly for fun. said Savania. She heard movement and saw the creature return with two large buffalo. How it could single handidly carry them she didn't know. "Ah, a second dragon? What is your name by chance? And if you wish you can have some of the buffalo." it said. It sat down and started a fire. "Savania, tell me, how has your life been so far? You seem like a young dragon?" Savania snorted Well, other than the first few months of my life I spent my time searching for my siblings. And once I found them we went into a big battle and... And no thank you, El added kindly, I've already eaten on my way here. But I appreciate the offer. El smiled, but she said privately to Nia, I don't remember you telling him your name; did you tell him before? She blinked sympathetically at her sister, remembering the terrible battle that had resulted to many trageties. Tell me something, she asked, referring to the creature, what is your name and what, exactly, are you? Savania replied, but as she said that the smell of rotting flesh lessoned. Maybe I'm just imagining things she said to herself. "Nice to meet you too Elcyon." the creature said. He grabbed a large sword and cut off a large slab of meet from a buffalo and started to cook it. "As for my name, it is Excessum. And as for what I am... my kind is a distant ansestor of the ra'zac. But do not fear, I am not like that. Also, I am the last of my kind. No no no, it is not rude at all. It has been years since I have seen other beings out this far. Elcyon, daughter of Quasar and sister of Savania." Excessum replied. As he said that, Savania was even more surprised, No, I never told him my name. How odd... I don't know...just this...odd aura. It's not bad, but it's not good. I can't quite put my claw on it, El replied. I could be imagining things as well. We'll have to see. I believe you, Excessum, El said cheerfully. You don't seem like you have any intentions anyway. She then narrowed her eyes. Though I don't see how you would know that Nia and I are sisters and that Quasar's our mother. Savania never even told you her name! What's going on? she demanded, standing up. Are you some kind of prophet? She added in a gentler tone, It's a possibility; I know quite a few. He a strange creature, I wonder who the elves never knew about him... replied Savania her voice drifting off at the end. Excessum smiled and stood up. and went closer to the fire to eat some of the meet. "I guess you could say I am. I cannot predict the future, but I can see into a whole nother realm, and speak whith those who are lost but really closely tied to their world. It is both a blessing and a curse." Excessum replied with mystery in his voice. Are you saying you can speak to the dead? Savania asked alarmed. She had heard with people using spirits for magic, but she was sure it wasn't the ghosts of those who had left this world. Excessum didn't reply to Savania but said to Elcyon, "Who is it that you know? I know of some profits, though I doubt they know of me. IC: Elcyon's eyes widened. Speaking to the dead in a way? Huh, never heard of anyone like that. She noted the mystery behind his voice and asked, You speak of it as though it were a curse...how is this so? El closed her eyes. You've probably heard of the Namer. I don't remember his real name, I've only heard of it once, but I have a human friend who's a prophetess. Her name is Hora, and she's told me about my own curse and the darkness eating away at my heart. Of course there were other things, but... She bit her lip. Though she knew that she thought differently about it because she had seen a lot of death in her short life. Excessum gave a grin, but it turned into a frown, "I know that I can trust you two. Someone whoes' died not long ago told me you two can be trusted." His voice drifted off and he said, "You would think it was a curse to if you saw, if you heard what I could. I hear their voices at night, screaming for freedom and release for whoever is keeping them captive. Sometimes I can see clear figures disappear or run as if someone or something were chasing, trying to kill them. Even now I can hear a child scream as this capture whips and beats him. And I can do nothing about that. Every time I venture deep into this cave to help I can't move. It's as if they dead don't want me to meet their fate, though they scream to me for help." Savania looked at him with great alarm What?! Is there anything you can do about it? She shivered, she would hate to be able to see and hear all those things. "If I could I would. They won't let deep into this cave. For their whoever has them imprisoned will strike at the living just as he has the dead. That what one has just told me. And to answer your question Elcyon, "I have heard of both of them. Some from the dead that still remain in this land, and some from the living. I wish there was a way I could help you with your curse, but I see none, I am sorry. That would be a terrible fate to befall anyone, even if it could help others. I am sorry for your suffering. She turned to Savania, and shook her head. I don't think there is. The dead is dead, and we should not interfere with that. It's too dangerous. Though, Ex, you say that you are not allowed into the cave, she added hesitently. What if Nia and I could go? It's alright about the curse; I'm quite use to it by now, El stated darkly. As for what Hora said...she told Equinox and me of a prophecy, about war and... She told him the entire story about when Equinox and her met up on the island, finding the paintings, and rushing off to meet Hora, where she told them the prophecy. I have been shunned by the outside world because of it, but mainly due to my close connection with ra'zac. As for going in there, you two may stand a chance of going in. Not many of the dead no you, so they won't be sure if you are a friend so they will most likely let you enter. Though, one of them, perhaps more, but I can tell one of them does not want you two to enter." he said. "That is good you except it, though I am sorry that you to must carry a curse. All I can tell from it is of a battle that has either already happened or already has. And the teal dragon, your brother, beware of him, for he harbors a hidden strength that he still does not even know of. And guard Tvashtar, all is not as well as it seems." He then seemed to argue with himself, or as if he was talking to another, "No, you can't stop them. They could help you!" Savania sighed, I wish there was though. It would be terrible, to die, but still not find rest. I would to like to go. Could we try to pass into the cave? "Yes, you two can, though it is dangerous deep in there. It had been the presence of the dead. What are we to do once we are inside? she asked Ex. She nodded when he warned her about Dsurion. Yes, we've come across him once. He seems dangerous, but we'll strengthen. But...what about Tvashtar? Isn't he alright? El had known him to be quiet, but never as anything...bad. You're talking to the spirits, aren't you? she whispered when he seemed to be arguing with himself. They're telling you we mustn't go in? She agreed with Nia. I hope they will find rest, if we can somehow help them. And thank you, Ex, for all your help and your concern. Be ware though, some are not friendly while others are. As for your brother, Tvashtar is not evil, but I see trouble for him in the future from what the spirit says. Good, you'll have to strengthen to fight your brother." He paused as the spirit continued to talk to him, "Yes, they do not want you two. One in perticular the most. They don't want to put you in harms way." he said. We will do anything to help them. No one deserves to suffer once they have left this world. We will help their spirits. Yes Elcyon, we should go. Thank you Excessum. said Savania. "You two are welcome. REmember, I am right here if you two need help. She worried about what they might find, but she went farther in. As they went down the tunnel she could hear odd muttering and she felt as if something was trying to force her back to the cave's entrance. "Do not come further... for your own sake do not come." Elcyon, did you here that? Savania asked. She gave a shiver. She could tell who ever said that was in great pain and despare. Stay close, Nia, it's going to get a lot worse if we become seperated. I think the spirits are just trying to scare us into running. I wonder how far this tunnel goes? she murmured, more to herself than Savania. I hope that the spirits aren't in too much pain though. She felt as several pushed back against her to try and force and Elcyon back the way they came. She even felt herself rise up into the air as if there were enough of them to pick her up. She roared and said Let us pass!!! The spirits stopped and she fell to the ground. I... I think they are too. Some just tried to pick me up, possible to take me back to that side of the cave. she replied. Slightly shakened by what just happened. Hopefully they do. This cave is really large. There is bound to be a whole cavern beyond this tunnel. she said. As they walked she thought she spotted someone. Then she saw the outline of a young human huttled against a wall. He stood up and said to them, "He'll do to you just what he did to us. Get out you two. Never return." the boy said, than vanished. Don't fear them; they're just trying to scare us, she whispered again. When that human boy appeared and said the foreboding message, El couldn't help but shiver either. Was he talking about Ex? I'm totally confused...could this be another trick done by the spirits? She turned to her sister. Savania walked forward more, and saw the end of the tunnel was in site. It was hard to see what lay beyond it though. I don't know if he was... Ex seems like a good guy, and he sounded honest about trying to help the spirits. I don't know though... Savania replied. Whatever it is though, the spirits are hard press at keeping us out. Don't they see we want to help them. As she continued on she saw an elf sitting on the ground, legs crossed, and playing some kind of instrument. It looked up, and to Savania's surprise and slight horror its eyes had been carved out of its head! It stood up and started to talk, but where its mouth should be was a gaping hole. Its lips were pelled off, its tounge ripped out, and all its teeth missing. It made strange sounds, as if trying to speak, but vanished That was... weird... she said. She continued on and saw what was beyond the tunnel. She pressed her head through what looked like a black mossy substance, but as she stuck her noise to it, her body floated up again and she was forced through the black entrance way. "Your friend was foolish enough to enter. Do you and she really think you can free them? She knew, though, she had to keep it together. They were only spirits, and they had only a limited amount of power and only if you gave them enough power. It would only make sense that the spirits would know that the siblings wanted to help them, but it seems as though they can't understand that. Even the elf was foreboding. What was the elf trying to tell them? Its face seemed to be as a warning, but El couldn't have been too sure... Wait, Nia, don't go through something you don't know what's on the other end! she cried, attempting to pull her sister away from the black ooze, but it was futile. Savania was pulled in. Savania! For the first time in Elcyon's life, she felt sarcastic and mean. An anger bubbled up in her chest, when she knew that her sister, her flesh and blood, was in danger. Oh right, like I'm going to go back the way I came and leave my sister here to die! El snapped, biting at the air. If there is a way, I'm going to free these spirits from their torment!! Elcyon took a deep breath as she watched the ooze swirl in front of her, as she pushed against the force that the spirits were forcing upon her. She couldn't see who or whatever it was, but she could feel it. She roared out in pain, but whatever had hold of her kept digging in more into her scales. "You will make a nice new slave my young dragon." She felt as something pierced her mind, as if it was trying to rip out her very soul. She tried to break free, but it almost instantly broke her defenses. Help me... she said, as if begging. Then she fell to the ground as if the vices were ripped off of her. She saw a clear figure of a dragon dive at something she couldn't see. Savania. Leave, go with your sister, leave! the ghost dragon shouted. Savania stood frozen stiff Mother? she asked. But before she could see or hear anything she felt something slam into her head. She woke up in a large room. She was chained to the ground and couldn't move. She heard a sword slide against metal as if it was being sharpened. I tried to warn you not to come. Hope that your sister will be alright.she heard the voice echo through her head. She looked over and was horrified to see the elf with the destroyed face. I won't abandon her. Where is she? What happened to you? Savania asked. The elf nodded and stood up. Behind him was a second elf, but this one had a large hole through its chest, and clear blood could be seen running down it.She has entered the portal into this part of the cave. We are slaves here, nothing more Savania. This is your last chance to turn back. He will punish me for being here if he sees me and my friend. Good luck. the elf vanished and Savania saw someone else walk into the room. It was a large strange creature. Its body was ra'zac like, but was much larger than even a knull. Its has muscular arms, but had odd vice like claws on them. Its face was like a ra'zac's, but its eyes had strange slithering looking objects coming from them. It didn't say anything to her at first, but said something to someone else. "Elcyon, you will not free them. They will remain under my rule. You can't do anything about it. You will die here, just like your sister. And you will become my two newest slaves. Just like your mother. Your scales will hang on the walls. And your roars of pain will echo throughout this cave to anyone who dares enter my realm." The creature took one last look at Savania and said to her, "Now be a good girl and stay here. My pets will make sure of it." he vanished and she heard snarling as five large monstrous bear like creatures walked over to her and growled. She would have fought them, but she couldn't get out of these chains. She could hear strange noises, the moans of spirits whispering in her ear and the sound of a sword sharpening somewhere. El looked around as she tried with effort to find her sister, but it wasn't enough. Savania! she called again, only silence replied. Elcyon shook her head. She would not believe it; they had come too far to turn back, and without trying to save the spirits. She couldn't allow whoever was keeping the spirits prisoner to continue doing these awful deeds. She had to find a way to get them out. With determination, El walked forward in the strange white room, which seemed to render endless before her. It was odd that she hadn't seen the spirits yet, though she had a feeling that once she found the source, they would appear before her. A loud roar interrupted her thoughts, finding a large beast coming towards Savania, who was tied up in chains on the floor. Hold on, Savania, I'm coming! El cried, rushing to her aid. She allowed the darkness that dwelled within her to take control, though she knew it would be fool-hardy, and closed her eyes as she rushed into combat. Her eyes flashed open as they glowed an eeriy color, a low growl rising in her throat. El met the creature head-on, and unleashed a surge of shadow breath upon the beast. With a gurgling roar, the beast had attempted to shield itself, but it cut right through it. The beast was burned alive until all that was left was a sizzling skeleton. El watched as the spirits began to gather around them, though she ignored it. With a desperate attempt, El turned towards Savania, and was able to burn through the metal that held her captive. Once you're free, stay far away from me. I'm having trouble with...the darkness! El ordered, a growl escaping her mouth as she said it. She was fighting the darkness as she felt the rush of battling coarse through her veins. It was difficult, but she had managed not to attack Savania. We can...stop the creature. She closed her eyes as she felt the spirits once again. It was as if she could feel their energy within them, swaying around her like water. Spirits from beyond the grave, you must listen to me! she called out. If you band together, you can stop whoever is controlling you! Savania and I will help you! She heard about it before from both her sister and Equinox. She managed to help her sister get the chains away by bending them, but it took a lot of work. She managed to snap them, and took a sigh of relief. Elcyon, I won't leave you here. she said to her sister. She looked around, she knew the spirits were gathering. She shivered of cold, but not of fright, She's right, we'll help you! All of you. We will get you free. "Many have tried that, and they all have failed." One said. It was a human spirit. Elcyon, Savania... I do not wish for you two to also be trapped in here. said a female dragon spirit. There was a loud noise, and it sounded like someone, or something was about to inturopt, "We should at least get out of here." One of the spirits went in front of them, "You will fail, but we do not mind that you try to help us." it said. To Savania, the words all sounded like mummers, but she got the message and followed. I’d rather not open it, if it’s all the same to you, she commented. But she knew that it could have been anything, and so she approached the crate with caution. El handed Savania the book and took a deep breath before opening the crypt. Inside was the rotting body of an elf. El had a sneaking suspicion that it was one of the elf spirits they saw earlier. We ought to go look around some more, El suggested. If there are more bodies lying around, we could probably put their souls at rest. She stepped towards it and saw something around the elf's corpse I think the elf could have been the orriginal writer of these books. Or Ex, but I think it was the elf.she said. She could actually feel the evil lock that was kept over the body of the elf. No wonder the spirits were angry and lashing out! Their spirits were trapped, and someone had purposefully locked them up. But El had no idea how to set them free. She opened the book and looked at the elf language. El hoped that she could find a way to set one of the spirits free at least. She began to murmur the words softly, but it was hardly needed. El had a feeling inside of her, as if she were connecting to the spirits. Then, she lifted a claw, where she could feel the chains that were holding the spirit prisoner. I'm going to set you free! she cried out, for she could feel and hear the spirits that were beginning to grow in anger and numbers. Within her grasp, she felt the chain crumble and wither away. From that, the spirit was able to float away to a final resting place. With a heavy sigh, El turned to Savania. It froze in front of them and said to them in the elf language "Thank you... beware, for the grave master knows all." Savania wondered just who, or what the spirit meant, but before she could ask just who this grave master was, the spirit vanished, and went to where all the dead could go to find rest. Who do you think the grave master is? she asked Elcyon. Before anyof them could act, a large rumble went through the room. It seemed to shake the very walls and floor they stood on. I don't know who the gravemaster is, she replied. From what El could see it appeared to be some kind of ritual had taken place. It was beyond her knowledge from what the ritual was for. She cautiously walked up to the stand, where she laid a claw on the cover of the book. It was practically tainted with evil. I don't need to open this book to know that evil was practiced here, El practically hissed. There's a possibility that the ritual was for containing...but I don't know what is in the urn...it could be ash. She knew this had to be the Grave Master's resting place, but if it was, was someone else controling him or not? She was confused by this all. El began to recite the letterings on the pages, as an eeriy wind began to stir among them. She pushed on, and ignored it. I can hear them; they have an anger boiling up inside them and soon, they won't be able to take it any longer. As soon as she finished her sentence, El saw hundreds of spirits descend from the ceiling, surrounding their 'master', advancing. The spirits placed their hands on El, forcing their life energy into hers so that she could regain her strength. She turned to the spirits and gave a wink to them, I am know ordinary dragon, and neither is my sister. "We shall see about that you two. You will not free the spirits, you will join their ranks." I'm sorry if that is what you think, but you must die! She blasted out a shimmering blur of liquid silver. It struck the grave master, and it seemed like he vanished. Odd clear blood was on him, but he was still alive. "Futile dragon. Can you kill someone who is already dead?" If you are already dead, I will force you out of the mortal world, and you will be judged and punished.
