This is the character that just wouldn't talk, but I finally managed to wrangle her name from her. My head feels much better now.

Skills: Water/Ice: Darian can draw water from her surroundings and manipulate it in any way she wishes to. She can freeze it into water, create things (like her spear) with it, or bind someone with it. The less water is in the ground or the air, the more energy she has to use and the more she has to concentrate. Normally she uses hardly any energy to use this ability, although it is a constant drain to keep her weapons in water form. If she freezes her weapons, the drain stops. If she binds someone with water, she can reverse it to where the restraints draw their energy from her prisoner, but then the restraints gradually get weaker until the water falls away. (The same thing happens with ice restraints.)

Spear-fighting: Darian is an expert in wielding a spear. She's been trained in that weapon form since she was a small child, although she does know how to competently use most other types of weapons.

Hand-Eye Coordination: Darian's hand-eye coordination is near perfect, which is a requirement for wielding her second favorite weapon, her rope-javelin.

Character Personality: Darian seems to have two personalities. At times she is happy and full of life, and other times she is quiet and seems to float amongst the background of whatever is happening around her. She most often dons the more serious side of her nature when she is on the job, where a clear head and cool control of her emotions serves her well. Darian is extremely disciplined and rarely goes for more than a day without practicing with all of her skills, preferring to stay in top form. While she can be described as more than a little intense, Darian does have a sense of humor and likes to kick back with her friends after a successful mission and just have fun. When she's not pushing herself to the extreme in training or is home from an assignment, she can often be seen in the small stableyard behind her home, spending time with Lyssand. One of the few things guaranteed to make Darian mad is someone making fun of her horse because of his coloring or small stature. For whatever reason it is that makes her mad, she usually takes care of it herself and in a prompt fashion.

Character History: Darian was born in the village of Vereshae to a spy and a metalsmith. Her father was a rather accomplished spy in a village full of them, while her gentle mother had chosen to create the weapons he used to kill, instead of going into the field herself. When their only child was born, the couple rejoiced, for they had big plans for their daughter. Right off the bat it seemed that Darian would follow in her father's footsteps to become a spy. When she was only eight years old, she chose to enroll in both the school for spies and the school for magicians in their village. Secretly her mother thought it might be a little much for such a young girl, but she didn't say anything because she saw how proud her husband was of their daughter.
One day after Darian's tenth birthday she was in class at the school of magic when one of the older students dared her to stop the flow of water he had created, without using the ancient language. Not wanting to seem weak in the face of her friends, Darian complied. Just as she released the flow of magic, an explosion sounded from behind her, causing her too lose focus. She lost control of the magic and the energy poured into her, seeming to sear her body from the inside. The young girl screamed in agony as her eyes flashed brightly and an explosion blasted everyone away from her.
When Darian came to, she learned that the first explosion was an experiment going wrong in the next room and that the second explosion, the one she had caused, hadn't hurt anyone. Despite that, her teacher punished her severely for doing something so reckless. Despite the punishment (10 lashes and 5 days suspension from her magic classes), Darian was eager to return to her lessons. But when she returned to her class, she found that no matter what words she said or how much energy she poured into her words, she had no magic anymore. It didn't take the village doctors long to discover that the accident at her school had completely burned the ability to use magic out of her. What surprised them was that it had left something in it's wake, Darian could now control water beyond the level of what a normal spell-caster could, and it wasn't even magic allowing her to do it. It was like she had become part of the element itself.
Despite her new special ability, Darian could no longer attend magic school as she had no magic, so she spent her time honing her new ability as well as practicing her spy skills. She advanced quickly in her lessons and now with only one school to focus on, she moved up through the ranks in her class rapidly, until she was the top student.
When it came time for Darian to graduate and become a fully-fledged spy, her mother presented her with a special weapon. It was a delicate metal chain, about 13ft long wrapped around a short piece of wood, with a weighted end. She knew immediately what it was, it was a rope javelin, her favorite weapon from her training. From her father she recieved a horse, a piebald gelding she named Lyssand.
Not that many months after she graduated, a strange man came and kidnapped a student from the magic school. The girl, Nina, had been in a class below Darian, but she knew her well enough to be proud of the fact that she was chosen to be in the rescue group, at least before the girl Irina ignored orders and rescued her before her group could.
After the man had gone and the two girls were brought back into the city, the chief sent Irina on a mission to find the man who had kidnapped Nina. And after Irina left, he entrusted Darian with the mission of finding out all she could about the man named Vexille, and to report her findings to Irina and himself. So Darian set out that very day on Lyssand and has been traveling ever since, following ever so closely on Vexille's heels, but never close enough for word of her presence to reach him. She is almost ready to meet up with Irina to tell her what she knows.

Weapons: Rope Javelin: Darian hasn't named this weapon and doesn't think she ever will. It's a useful tool for keeping an enemy at bay, or capturing a target, but not that effective for killing, unless she lands a blow on the temple with the weight at the end. The weapon was forged by her mother as a congratulations for making it through spy training. If Darian manages to get it wrapped around you, it feeds off of any magical energy the captive tries to use, rendering magic useless.

Ice Spear: This weapon is something Darian forges with her power, and as it's not a permanent weapon, she doesn't bother to name it either.

Throwing stars, knives: Like most warriors from her village, Darien is well versed in the art of throwing stars and knife fighting. She keeps a number of the stars in a pouch on her belt, and there are numerous knives hidden on her person, as well as Lyssand's saddle and bags.

Animal Companion: The only constant companion Darien has is the piebald gelding her father gave her, Lyssand. He is a very intriguing looking animal, with his flashy black-and-white coat and painted hooves. Darien is fiercely proud of him and will knock you out if you tease her about his height. (He's barely more than a pony, at 14.5 hh.) His mane a brilliant white with a black forelock. His tail is white as well, but the bottom half is black.

Likes: Lyssand and other horses, training, hanging out with her friends, or just having a quiet moment with Lyssand.

Dislikes: People who make fun of Lyssand, Vexille, and evil people in general.

Fear: Since she is no longer able to use magic, Darian is afraid of what would happen to her if she ever tried to go up against a strong magician. (Her mother know this, hence the spells she sang over Darian's rope javelin while she was making it.)

Appearance: Darian's hair has always been an annoyance to her. It's bright golden color may be beautiful, but it's impractical and stands out in her line of work. Be that as it may, she lets it grow out to her shoulders. When she's not on the job, she lets it hang loose around her shoulders in soft, wavy strands. Before her accident, her eyes were brown, but now they are a bright blue, which is obviously something to do with her affinity for water. Her skin is a nice, tanned color from all the time she spends outside. Darien is of average enough height, standing at 5'6". She always wears sturdy clothes and boots, and the colors of her clothes vary with the environment she's in. One thing she always wears though, is a grey cloak with a hood and a black bandanna around her neck. (The bandanna doubles as a mask when she doesn't want her face to bee seen.) She has bracers on her arms and lightweight greaves on her legs. The metal of her bracers and greaves has been blackened so it doesn't shine. Another constant piece of clothing she wears is a black-dyed, leather vest. The vest has two layers, with a padding of light chain-mail between the two layers.
