I was never that big a fan of those old, classic Super Mario games, but this actually looks great! The 4-player feature adds a lot to it, and everything I saw was unique. They used to always have the same monsters in the old games; there was really never any spice to it. Now that the graphics are enhances and they've gotten a whole bunch of new ideas, I'm thinking about getting this game! It looks really fun!

Re: New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
This is actually very much like the classic Aang... If you didnt like those you probably wont like this. It has many, many of the same aspects, with a few changes like different powerups, the multi-player option and of course newer graphics (Which all came with each new Mario Bro Game anway) The Super Mario Bro. has always been my favorite series, I think 3 was my all time favorite. I grew up on them and I still love playing them. I played this for 3 hours this morning with two of my friends, it was fabulous. Basically 3 hours of "mess up your neighbor". They killed me i dont know how many times. The Multi-Player option definitely makes it harder but its way fun and gave me a ton of laughs. I'm gonna try single player tomorrow =)

Re: New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
Hm, if you say so.. I don't know, the main reason why I didn't like the previous Super Mario Bros. games was because I had other funner games to occupy me, like Pokemon games. It's not like I hated the previous games. I could give it a try and see if I like it I guess.
I think the best new aspect is the multi-player feature. They've never had a game that could involve everyone. Also, did they ever have a Super Mario Bros. game for a console instead of a handheld system?
Do they have Wi-fi in this game? That would be amazing, although I don't see how they could do it, since the multi-player if only for working together as a team, not battling against each other. Right?

Re: New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
Oh. I guess I overestimated my knowledge of these games. So yeah, it turns out I know nothing about them, but buying this game could possibly do me good!
The only Super Mario games I've ever played were on handheld systems like Gameboy Color, so maybe that's why I didn't like them so much.
Do you guys know if they have Wi-fi online play of any sort in this game?

@Wolvieand Valk: Oh okay, I didn't think it would anyway. I mean, there really isn't a way to battle against others, since in the multiplayer mode you work as a team (right? ). Not that that's a bad thing, I just didn't expect it would.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
Hmm, I never actually liked these games in the past, but the graphics and gameplay of this one make it look kinda awesome! Especially now since it has 4 players, A LOT more people are going to buy this, I think.
I actually didn't know that there were handheld Super Mario games. Wait, no, I think we had one. Lol I don't know.
Some kid at school persists on me getting this game...and some new Zelda game for DS coming out in December. But I don't know, I'm really much more into adventure games than games like this. I'll consider it.

Re: New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
Yeah, it's sort of like bringing back and enhancing the past. A lot of older gamers will want to get this game (Wolvie and Valk ). Not to say you guys are old or anything, just... older. Lol, it isn't supposed to be an insult.
We had a game called Super Mario and the Seven Golden Coins or something. It wasn't too great.
Haha, and we got it!! Yup, we bought it at Best Buy on Wednesday and we just played it together for the first time last night! Seriously, the game is so addicting and once you play a few times, you need to keep going on. We got to the first few levels of World 2, the desert place. The game is actually much harder than I expected! At first I thought it would be a piece of cake, but it's really difficult to get the hang of it. I think I was the worst because I kept dying. And whenever those other 3 (Sokka, Toph, and Arya) tried to go in the bubble to get to me, I would accidentally do it too and then we lost!!

Re: New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
The hardest part about this game is when you start adding players, not if your playing alone. When your alone, you can go at your own pace (to an extent) and your at the skill level of your own. When another player is added, you have to work together and it becomes easier to die. For example, jumping on each other, having to go at the slowest person's pace while making it easier to run out of time. The actions of the screen are now controlled by 2 different individuals with different gaming styles. Unless all players have a tactical strategy, the more players you add, the harder the game becomes... I do think they could have added a few easier levels in there on occasion. I feel like they took the difficulty of Mario 1, combined the items of mario 3, and added some of the feel (like Yoshi, the platforms) from super mario for Super Nintendo, then added the red coin bonus's from mario 64 (from Nintendo 64)
I'm curious, whats all your thoughts. I like the spiny hat item...

Re: New Super Mario Bros. (Wii)
Yeah, I agree, when you play with more people it gets much more difficult. Honestly, I haven't played the game by myself, but I've played enough with my 3 other siblings to realize how easy it is to accidentally kill someone or get killed by someone. Someone also usually gets more than one mushroom by mistake when the game gives them to us, and the other person ends up getting angry. The game definitely requires tremendous teamwork and cooperation. I really like the levels though, they're unique and lively. Each of them always has something going on to prevent you from getting bored, whether it's a bunch of enemies, a POW block, anything! The game keeps you focused and on your toes at all times. Another thing I like are the various items that you can obtain. My favorites would have to be the penguin suit and the flying mushroom. The star is cool, but it only lasts about 10 seconds, so you have to move fast when you get it.
