What if Galbatorix did live forever? What would happen? Would humans, dwarves, and elves survive? Would the dragons survive? Would Eragon himself live...or die? Would the last egg hatch? Would this be the end to all things good? When would the reign of terror end? All good things must end...and so must the bad. An equilibrium in nature that must come true. But how would it?? Who would come to rescue them?? Is this it? Is this Doomsday? Will this be it? Something to haunt our memories to the end of our lives? Something we'll never forget?

We already have a very simmalar topic to this one called "what if galby dies?" you should try to look and see if there were simmalar topics before making a new one.

um, excuse me, but "what if galby DIES" and "what if Galbatorix LIVED forever" are to me two opposite subjects.

I have read the topic and it is in a simmilar way. Besides I think i have seen this topic somewhere.

Since Galbatorix is still only a human he's going to die someday, it's not going to be soon because he is dragon rider but that day will come. Important thing is that if will live long enough to be able to finaly defeat the Varden then he won't be the bad guy any longer because afterall history is written by winner.

Yes, Galbatorix is a human, but dark powers have changed him into something not entirely human. So the possibility is still there.

Nature said Life span can't be infinite. In well behaved world nature is the strongest power and that power will kill Galby :]
Question is why do we all think he is that bad? He has whole empire under him and so far we haven't heard about single rebellion so he cant rule so badly! In other word it means that if his life is never going to end then there will be happy HUGE country under his reign

Actually, if dark magic could twist a DRAGONS mind, i'm shure it could ad thousands, if not millions of years to a humans life span. Also, How does Galby get more powerfull. Where he gets his power could also affect his life span. There are many possibities, and u always find a new one when u read the book again.

The Varden is a rebellion against Galbatorix. how can you say there is no rebellion? And what happy country can there be when Galbatorix taxes the heart and soul out of all the citizens?? Nobody else has rebelled either because they are afraid. Life is too important to them for them to die (and their family, too).
I mean, look at how much convincing Roran had to do to get Carvahall to leave. Only the loss of Katrian spurred him on to do this, otherwise, everyone would of been too afraid to make a statement by escaping the Empire.

When you look at map of Alagaesia and think about what you have been told so far then u must admit that Vardens are (with one sligh difference in dwarfs) operating from countryes around Empire itself but big cities and space between them is faithfuly obeying Galbys orders...
Btw am I the only one who think Glaby has behavior of dead fish? He dont move from his little castle on little mountain in little Empire and just send his army to be slaughtered by thousands just because he wants to... what he wants to do?

They are faithfully obeying his orders because they have to. Like I said, they are afraid, and don't know what else to do.

They would go to the Varden, but they're afraid, with good reason. Soldiers would stop them before they even got there and probably kill them for trying to escape the Empire.
Roran's just lucky that CP let him get through so he could rescue Katrina.

You can't kill entire Empire because true strengh lies within numbers and citizens are more numerous then soldiers otherwise all of them will starve to death

Besides from where did those soldiers came from? It's much easier to kill mam you never met it might be even good feeling to kill someone you never met and who tryed to kill you but this doesnt work when you goes against your own people!

Actually, there are more soldiers than civilians because civilians are forced to go into the army and serve for Galbatorix.

Army cant feed itself there cant be more soldiers then civilians definetly not with their technology of making food....

army doesn't have to feed itself. army takes everything from starving peasants, an exact representation of why Galbatorix is evil.

i would have to say that if eragon died and galby lived forever, the whole world of alagaesia would be doomed....cuz with the last good rider gone, galby and murtagh would just go out and destroy everything.....especially if they got the third egg to hatch for their side.....

If Galby lived forever...the whole of Alagaesia would be doomed. End of story. That's if you're talking about immortal. If you're talking about a very long life...he probably lives close to forever, but everyone has to die someday, right? So Eragon still has a chance.
