To slay a king...
- It was a dark, breezy night. Fankor sat having a couple of drinks at the local tavern. The town was pretty much empty. No one was out except for Fankor and Dothar, who was the son of the Asgarth the blacksmith. The two kept to themselves as they had their drinks. Fankor finished up his second drink and started headig out of the Tavern. He was no more then a hundred feet from the tavern, when he heard five guards of Galbatorix's army head into the tavern. Fankor swiftly slipped behind a small shed and listned in on the guards' conversation. Fankor would never have been able to hear them without his keen sense of hearing. The guards mostly talked about their own personal lives and how the days patrol went along. Fankor was ready about to leave for home, seeing nothing was really happening..., but then he overheard one of the guards take notice of Dothar. They were trying to decide how old he was, and how fit he would be for the guard. Suddenly Dothar got up to leave the tavern and one of the guards grabbed him by the wrist. " Where do you think your going boy," the guard said..."Congrats, you've just been recruited to the kings guard." The guard quickly ducked as Dothar threw a powerful punch. "Over my dead body!,"Dothar yelled as he backed up and drew his sword. The guards were amused with this. They burst out laughing and all five drew there blades and surrounded Dothar. Fankor couldn't watch this anymore. He jumped ou and shot two arows that hit two of the guards square in the forehead. The other three guards jumped back and looked into the distance for where the arrows came from. This gave Dothar his chance. He tackled one of the guards to the ground. The last two guards rushed at Dothar with there blades ready to strike. Fankor lept out of the darkness and swung at the two guards knocking them to the ground with a devestating blow. Fankor and Dothar finished the guards off with a last satb of there swords into their chests. They were both silent for a moment. " Thanks for helping me," Dothar said, "If you wern't there to help, I would have been dead...-
-"Is everything all right,"Laverra asked Fankor through his mind." It is now,"Fankor answered as He walked home to his family's farm-
- The next morning came and Fankor woke up to do the normal morning chores. As he finished up mucking the horses stalls, he hopped on Laverra's back and went for a ride. "You know," said Laverra," You never really told me what went on last night."" Some of the kings guards tried to kill Dothar. I helped him get out of trouble is all,"Fankor answered." So they just attacked him for no reason?" " They tried to recruit him into the guard." When Fankor answered, Laverra wasn't paying much attention. Instead, she was distracted by something else." What is it Laverra,"he asked. "Take a look for yourself...," Laverra said. Fankor then used the ancient language to let him see through Laverra's eyes. He couldn't belive what he was seeing. Uragals... and lots of them, heading straight for Surda! "Think it has anything to do with your little braw last night?," She asked. " I don't know,"said Fankor," But I deffinately plan to find out!" With that, Laverra let out an echoing roar as she charged towards the urgals.-

OOC: i'll join in so you don't have to waste a posting space.
Faefnir felt strife within Surda. What may have seemed like a usual occurrance will actually become more dangerous, for Lavarra and all in her village. He angled his flightpath towards Fankor's home village and swiftly proceeded. He found Lavarra and landed in front of her. What happened? Is Fankor alright?

-" Yes, he's fine. He's using a trick his father taught him long ago before he died. By lying on the ground and feeling the vibrations of the earth, he's able to tell how many urgals and soldiers there are up ahead without flying to close and blowing your cover."-
" There's close to 50 of them!,"said Fankor as he also greatly welcomed Faefnir." Were deffinatly going to need your help Faefnir. I'm pretty sure there here about the guards that tried to take Darthor last night, meaning they will be looking for me. I can meet them Head on with Laverra while Faefnir flanks around the back of the party and take them by supprise. So what do ya say Faefnir, You in?"

Faefnir acknowledged Fankor as he approached. He thought over this plan Fankor described to him. It is a well conceived plan. However, there is great risk. If they know they are going after a Rider, there will surely be a magician or two accompanying them. And I nkow for a fact that although you and Lavarra are fierce fighters, you will not stand a chance against even pet magicians. I suggest a different plan: a defensive front. We set up a perimeter around the village, both magical and temporal. I suggest you rally the village. They do know you are a Rider, right? If they do, prepare them for siege and eradication of all loyalists and spies. And we must keep a few of them alive so we can extract information. Tell me if this plan seems a bit more sensible, albeit more complicated.

- Fankor thought for a minute. He thought he could take a magician, but Faefnir was much for knoledgeable than himself. " Yes,"said Fankor," We could also make this work very well. Not many people know im a rider, but im not worried about anyone here finding out, It's just I never told them. I do have a team of archers I have trained to help protect the city. They can stand at the outskirts and fire on the party's frontline. I have an elven friend who has taught some of the villagers around my age some genral skills of the blade...Enough skills to take on a clumsy urgal. Now what should you have Laverra and I do? We may be able to distract the magician while you come from behind and freeze him with your ice breath. That way we can still question him later..."

No no, you can't be a distraction. Both of your lives are far to important to be mere decoys. Here is what we will do with the magicians. I will take care of them using their only weakness: wizard's duels. They cannot defeat me. Once I control them, I will be able to freeze them with my ice breath and not have to kill them. Here is what the two of you must do. Go to Aberon and request assistance from King Orrin. He will listen to a Rider, although he doesn't entirely trust them. When we have King Orrin's assistance, we shall be able to defeat this menace. Since this is after all Surda, soldiers trying to conscript his subjects is a form of invasion. The king will be hard-pressed to declare war. I will keep the villagers occupied and defend your home with all my strength until you return with King Orrin's cavalry.

OCC: I wasnt sure of the distance between Surda and Aberon.... i just guessed, so hopefully its not to crazy
- Fankor nodded and jumped on Laverra as she lept into the air. Fankor knew Laverra was very swift and manuverable, but he couldn't belive the speed she obtained while heading towards Aberon. The city wasn't to far, and with Laverra's incredible speed, they were able to reach the city gates in under an hour. As Laverra landed, Fankor jumped off her back and went to talk to the guard. " I must speak to the king... It's very important," Fankor said. To his supprise, the guard didn't even puase to ask why. All the guard did was nod his head and started escorting them to the king. " Just wait outside her ill be out in a minute. I know Faefnir needs help and I don't plan to make her wait long," Fankor said to Laverra as he entered the kings castle. When he was inside, he found the king looking over a map of alegasia. " King Orrin," Fankor said. " May I help you?,"the king asked. " My name is Fankor. I come from Surda. I am a rider and need your help. Surda is under attack by a group of urgals and there's most likely a magician with them," said Fankor. "Is Surda under attack as we speak," Asked the king. " Yes, Feafnir is there now holding them back as long as he can. That's why we must hurry!" "Well Luckily I was just going to send out a force to check out a sight over by the mountains, but this is much more important. Here take this letter to the squad and they are under your full command. Its a party of 75 very skilled swordsmen that are also equip with bows. Take them all and hurry!," The king said waving off Fankor. " Thank you sire," Fankor said as he ran out of the castle. When he got out into the courtyard, Fankor saw the small force that the king told him to take. He gave them the letter as he quickly explained the situation. The soldiers quickly mounted there horses and darted out of the city gates as fast as possible. Fankor Mounted Laverra and she lept into the air." Well done little one, I'm very proud of how you handled this. You did an ecellent job," Laverra said. " Thank you Laverra. Now lets get back and help out Faefnir!" When Fankor finshed talking he said to himself, " I just hope were not too late..."-

Faefnir was already busy with setting up the villages defenses. He had great people skills, so even though they had never seen him before, his words sparked them to action. By the time Lavarra landed in Aberon, a wall was already built and the women and children taken to a farm outside of Aberon. The men armed, the magical shield set up, the wall built, and Faefnir standing at the ready, all they could do now was await Fankor's return and prepare to weather the storm that was coming.

- Fankor Finally saw Surda came into sight, only it looked different... Much different. A wall was built around the outside of Fankor's home part of Surda. " Looks like Faefnir has been busy while we were gone," said Laverra. " Yea, im just the city is still safe, and I plan to keep it that way," answered Fankor. Laverra landed next to Faefnir as Fankor pointed to the soldiers that were just coming into view. " The King sent us 75 of his finest swordsmen to back us up." Fankor said to Faefnir. " He was very happy to help us out and he will send out scouts to check on th battle offten to see if reinforcements are needed. You did a great job getting the town to listen to you. I can't belive you got a wall built in only this much time,"He added. " Let these filthy creature come. I will tear them limb from limb with my own talons if any lay hands on these gates," Laverra said as she let out an echoing roar of battle.

The time following their return with the reinforcements from Aberon was a very stressful time for Faefnir. He desired action, blood, and a reawakening of his former self. Yet the only thing that occurred was waiting, watching, and breathing. Not a single soul in the entire village was moving. It reminded Faefnir too much of Vroengard after the Fall. The stillness was almost unbearable.
OOC: remember, Surda is a whole country, not just a village. Aberon is the capital of Surda. just be more careful about that. you can't put a wall around a whole country.

OCC. It wouldn't be a country would it cuase alegasia is supposed to be the larger part of a larger country... but i could understand that surda is big then... i wasnt very sure I fixed it up a bit by saying his home part of Surda...
- " UHGG!! Whatare they doing.... there just sitting there waiting. MAybe there waiting for darkness to fall or for more troops." Fankor was getting restless. He wanted the Urgals to come. He wanted to slaughter these creature to no end. He was furious how anyone would lead an attack on his home town. Fankor finally slid down next to Laverra who was laying down next to Faefnir just watching the urgals move back and forth at the top of the path.-

OOC: Alagaesia is the name of the world. it is split into two countries, the Empire and Surda.
Faefnir eyed the Urgals hungrily. Their patrols never came close to the town. He wondered why they weren't attacking yet. This wasn't in their nature. Faefnir decided to take matters into his own hands. He said some words in the dragon tongue. As he took off toward their camp, he turned invisible. He knew the others were stunned, but he would return swiftly. As he flew undetected over their camp, he observed many things. He established a link with Lavarra. I'm flying over the Urgal camp right now. I see a whole regiment of magicians. They are practicing, so I would guess they are just pet magicians. The Urgals have amazing numbers! I have never seen such a large party of Urgals since the Battle of Tronjheim. I would guess 10 thousand Urgals, maybe more. This is undoubtedly an invasion force. I'm flying over the commanders tents now. 500 Kull I see. Here is the general's tent. By the Egg, their commander is a Shade! I'm coming back. This situation is far graver than I imagined. As Faefnir turned back towards the village, there was suddenly a commotion in the camp. The Shade was pointing right up to where he was. A great power came over him and his invisibility suddenly came off. They have seen me, Lavarra! Faefnir then felt a great hook go into his tail. He roared loudly with pain. As they dragged him down to the earth, he was chained down by the Kull and muzzelled. Then the Shade approached him. Lavarra, don't come after me! I can take care of myself! Then a great power came over his mind as the Shade touched him. He lost all mental contact with Lavarra and Fankor as his world spinned about him, then went black.

http://www.shurtugal.com/?id=trilogy/christopher/qanda-3-19..... Here it shows CP saying Alagaesia is the larger part of a larger continent on earth... It says in question 9...
OCC... Ok lol i wasnt expecting th battle to be this big... just over a small braw at a tavern?? i was thinking like 100 urgals or so... thats why i only put 75 troops coming to help us.. but o well might as well change it up a bit now...
-Fankor was stunned as LAverra told him the the amount of urgals. " They must have been increasing there number greatly ever since the first fifty of them." When Fankor saw Faefnir's camouflage fail, He knew they were in big trouble. " Laverra, go back to the king and tell him we need many more soldiers! Hurry ill try to hold back the forces as long as I can!" " Fankor no i won;t leave you to your dea..." Laverra was cut off by Fankor. " Laverra, We will all die if you don't go. We don't have a leader here now that they have Faefnir, And If I leave, the whole town will go into total chaos. I'll be fine now please go!" Laverra left without further questioning. Fankor had to come up with a way to distract the shade long enough to get Faefnir out of trouble. Then he thought of the side pass through his hunting grounds. He walked over to one of the swordsmen in the group and said," You... Your in charge till I get back. Stay in a deffensive postion and do not leave the wall. I will be back as soon as I can." With that said, Fankor jumped on one of the soldier's horses and rode off to the hunting grounds. It was only a short ride with the speed of the soldiers horse. He dismounted the horse and climed up a small pile of rocks. From there he could see the Urgal Encampment well. With out wasting anymore time he notched 3 arrows onto his bow and shouted," Brisingr!" The arrows glowed a dark orangish color just like Laverra's scales. He released the arrows right into a group of urgals who were helping the shade hold down Faefnir. The urgals ans shade were launched into the air and knocked 20 feet away from there starting positions. The shade was dumbfouned by where the arrows came from and was a little annoid that he wasnt aware of another presence. Fankor quickly re-mounted his horse and rode as fast as he could back to the wall.

OOC: hmmm... whatever. just remember that Surda is a country, not a city or village.
Faefnir was still unconscious. He was aware of the arrows that came from the hill above him, but he couldn't act on it. But when the Shade went flying, his mind suddenly opened back up. He awoke with a start. He slashed at the remaining Kull and broke the chains holding him down. As he flew off with arrows being shot toward him, he tore off the muzzle, then sent a great wave of ice breath to the commander's tents. He froze the Kull where they stood, along with nearly a hundred Urgals. The Shade was nowhere to be found.

- Laverra arivved back in Aberon. She didnt bother going through the gate. She flew directly to the castle. " I need to speak to the king... the army attacking us are far greater then we thought," she said to the guard. The guard let her pass without a problem. When she saw king Orrin she explained to him the problem. " O-my! 10 thousand Urgals!," Orrin said, " I don't have a force her that can match those numbers! All i can do is call upon the varden for help, but they may take a day just to get here." " Well call upon them, in the meantime, do you have any troops here at all you can gather up into a smalll force? We need all the help we can get!," said Laverra. She was getting worried about Fankor, and wanted to get back very quickly. " Yes, I do have to small forces just outside of Aberon. I can send word to their genrals to go and back you up." explained the king. " I am very greatfull sire. Send them as we will be waiting. Now I must get back to my rider and help out all I can." Laverra then left the castle and darted through the air to get back to Fankor.-
- Fankor quickly made it back to the wall and informed the soldier he left incharge of his return. He saw Faefnir was free and that he had Frozen a ton of urgals while escaping. " What happened to the shade," He asked Faefnir.

Faefnir heard Fankor's question. He searched the nearby area, but couldn't see the Shade anywhere. I don't see anything, Fankor. I would be wary. He will return with a vengeance.
OOC: sorry it isn't longer. i couldn't do a lot with what i was given.

Re: To slay a king...
- Fankor took Faefnir's advice and watched his surroundings extra carefully. He had met a shade once before, but he befriended this shade and never had to fight her. This was a whole new experience for him. He was very uneducated on the powers of a shade. He kept a sharp eye out for anything that looked suspicious. About 10 minutes past and nothing happed..., but then he heard something in the distance. It sounded like the pounding of wings against the air, and that's exactly what it was. He smiled when he saw Laverra coming over the hilltop to the Left side of him. He was happy to see that she was ok. Behind her was a group of about 700 soldiers. As laverra landed she said to Fankor," It's not much but hopefully it will be enough to hold our ground untill the varden arrives about a day from now..." " A day! ....I don't know if we can hold off that long...," Fankor explained as he relayed this information over to Faefnir. " Laverra, I was able to create a distraction to give Faefnir time to get free,... But we lost sight of the shade in the process. Make sure to keep a close eye out for him. We won't stand a chance if he catches us off guard.-

Re: To slay a king...
OOC: Can i join?? IC: Eriel and Emrhyst stood back-to-back, fighting for their lives. There are too many Eriel! Emrhyst said as she crushed a kull's head with a quick tail-swipe. "I know... we'll try to hold out for awhile." Eriel parried a blow and stabbed her blade right through the urgal's armour, its black blood stained her robe. They were thoroughly exhausted after fighting for so long, Eriel finally decided it was time to retreat. "Emrhyst, were taking wing." Eriel sheathed her sword and pulled out her bow, drawing three arrows and screamed out one word, "Brisingr!" She let the arrows fly, it knocked back most of the search party that the shade had sent. She quickly climbed onto Emrhyst and took off for Surda, the bells on her saddle bag jingled, her cloak fluttering in the breeze. They landed in the middle of a war camp. Spears were lowered and swords were drawn as they landed, In her current state, Eriel almost looked like a male elf.Oh great... We need to fight, again! Eriel drew her sword and raised it to the salute, with her mind she spoke to the soldier who seemed to be in-charge, "Lower your weapons, we mean you no harm. But if you insist on this, there will be fewer men to return to their families this night."

Re: To slay a king...
- Fankor watched as the other rider landed in the middle of their camp. He hesitated a second, and then walked over to the rider as Laverra folowed." Hello rider, I am Fankor and my dragon here is Laverra. Just up that hillside over there is Faefnir. May I ask who you and your dragon are, and if you are aware of our situation we have here?," Fankor asked.-

Re: To slay a king...
Eriel relaxed abit, then turned her attention to the new rider, "My name, is Eriel. This is my dragon Emrhyst. I came to resolve some...disputes within the Varden, I was just returning when i was ambushed by a shade and had no choice but to head for surda. And no, i don't know anything about your situation. So if you'll excuse me, I'll be off now." She courtsied, as was the custom of the surdans and prepared to get onto her dragon. Behind her, she heard afew soldiers laugh. She slid back down and asked them, "Why are you laughing?" The man replied, "You speak like a woman and u courtsied! I don't know what is with you, but you act funny." Immediately, the whole camp burst into laughter, even the more polite ones let out a giggle. Eriel snapped at them, her light green eyes turning blackish rapidly, she almost screamed out, "Hey! Maybe I am a lady?" Immediately, the whole camp went silent. She established a mental link with Fankor,"I lied, i know all about your situation. Your being attacked by a shade and hundreds of urgals. I'll help you. It seems your gonna need it." Eriel and Emrhyst went to a more deserted area of the military camp and started pitching camp. She waited for Fankor's reply.

-"Not hundreds but tousands! We have to hold them off untill the Varden arrives to help us. In the meantime, these are the only soldiers we have.," Fankor said to Eriel.-
-Laverra decided to talk with Emrhyst while Fankor was talking with Eriel." So... your Ermhyst... I'm Laverra. Do you have a home town or do you just wonder around al lot throughout Alegasia?"

Re: To slay a king...
"Not much of an army... they can be could for taunting but fighting? These guys will be obliberated if they are as many urgals as you say there is." Eriel replied while she drove the last stake into the ground. "There... That's better." After awhile, she spoke to Fankor again, "You know... Your men really know how to hurt people." And then turned away to unload her saddle bag.
Emrhyst replied Laverra,"My home... and well as my rider's, shall always be Ellesmera. Yes we wonder alot as we feel the need to explore. " Emrhyst said as she lit up the small camp fire and put afew logs around it.

Re: To slay a king...
- "I'm very sorry for their actions," Fankor said aggresively so the soldiers could hear him...," If we wern't in such a mess, i would Punish them severly." Well hopefully we can hold them off until the Varden arrive. We have comfirmed that their is a shade amung the Urgals, be we lost him when Faefnir escaped from him, so just keep a close watch. As for the Urgals, they seem to have been just sitting thier since Faefnir escaped." Fankor finished speaking to Eriel and then spoke to Faefnir. "Any updates on whats going on over there, Faefnir?"-

Re: To slay a king...
Faefnir noticed the presence of Eriel and Emrhyst in the village. Ah, Emrhyst, glad you could join us. No Fankor, I don't see anything... Faefnir stopped in midsentence. He could see a great force upon horseback approaching from the south. Fankor, Lavarra! King Orrin and his cavalry are here! He established a link with the king. Glad you could make it, your majesty. I have a good view from up here, so listen closely. I want you to charge right into their flank. You were fortunate to come up onto their weak flank, for I myself dealt with them. Just ride straight into them! Fankor, lead the villagers into their opposite flank. Eriel, fly above Orrin's men and assist them in any way possible. I will attack their army from the center. Now go forth, Riders! For glory! For survival! FOR VICTORY!!!!!!! Faefnir swooped downwards and struck the first blow, roasting alive several Urgals and a Kull commander.

Re: To slay a king...
"Feafnir... I'm dead tired right now. I passed through fire and brimstone to get here, in the hope that i could rest for awhile..." Eriel said. Emrhyst then spoke to him, What my rider means to say is that we just landed here after nearly getting killed by a bunch of urgals. But well... If you insist on this then alright." Eriel took a deep breath and then said, "I will get captured in this battle, I know that. Let's go Emrhyst." She climbed onto her dragons back and drew her sword, its blade catching the moonlight. "Death to the urgals, death to the kull, death to the shade!" Her eyes started changing colour, she was not the cheery female most of them knew, she was now a ranger, ready for battle, ready to kill. She charged straight into the urgal ranks, her dragon obliberating them with great tail swipes and flames, the elf dodged and struck, lunged and blocked, they couldn't touch her, for every stroke they tried to deal was reflected and countered.

Re: To slay a king...
OCC.. srry ive been i little busy...
- Fankor hopped onto Laverra's back and headed straight for the frontline of the urgals. Laverra burst the whole line into a giant swirl of raging fire. Laverra then swooped up and looked into the distance. She thought she saw something and homed in on it. She couldn't belive what see saw. " Fankor! It's the shade... Hes back, and with an army of magicians as well! there coming up fast on horse back!" Fankor was amazed by how many magicians the shade had with him. He just watched as the Heard came closer... and closer... "Faefnir, Eriel, are you seeing this?-

Re: To slay a king...
Faefnir gazed towards the army of magicians that were coming. Eriel, continue on the Urgal forward flank. I'll take care of the magicians. Faefnir swooped towards the army of magicians. He dodged hundreds of balls of dark magic, pathetically aimed and conjured. He scorched several magicians, still sickened by the smell of roasting flesh. He turned back around and suddenly felt a pressure on his mind. The Shade, he thought. He forced back the pressure, having felt this before and knowing what came after this. He picked several more magicians with his claws and dropped them hundreds of feet down. This was the final test. Eriel, Fankor, they are just pet magicians! You can easily take care of these. I'll draw the Shade away and deal with him. If we can kill him, the fighting will end.

Re: To slay a king...
OOC: I hope the content is pg13... if not then... I'll change it =P
IC:"Heh... well that changes everything."She paused to parry an axe. "Emrhyst, into the skies!" She quickly mounted her dragon and soared into the air. She broke into the minds of a magician and used him to kill some more. When the others realized this, they aimed their projectiles at Emrhyst. Eriel expected this and used the body as a shield, when she was done, she ended his already slipping away life with the fourth word of death. Then, all of them attacked her mind. The preassure was too great for her to endure and both rider and dragon fell to the ground and were bound by chains and hooks. The shade summoned Eriel to his tent and said to her, "I will torture you till you die or you tell me the weakness of that golden freak." Adopting the ancient language, she said, "I will not tell you. In fact, I don't know his weakness." The shade paused for awhile then said, "Well then you are of no use to me unless..." He looked at her maliciously. Eriel eyes went wide when she realized what he was going to say, "Woah, don't even go there. My treasures are my own." He looked at her, "For now elf, for now." He turned to the other magicians, "Lock her up in the cell with her dragon." She was roughly dragged away and thrown into a damp cell. With her mind she told Feafnir, "I told you I would get captured in this battle."
