Fallen Brother

Gender: Guy Affiliation: Dragonriders Dragon: Avadius	Fallen Brother Anyone is free to join. This is a few weeks after my still unfinished RP 'Price Paid'. Anyone can join With his back to the ocean shore Eris sighed, it was strange having his mind be 'invaded' and cleansed. True it wasn't an actually invasion, but that was what it felt like. Glancing at the Alfin which flanked him at each side he couldn't help but still be thankful. Sighing he led them deeper into the mainland. Where he was going he wasn't sure, but the Alfin told him he'd meet part of his destiny in the east. Like servants they followed him but they weren't truely his servants. They obeyed him yes, but it was like a shared control. He had control over them, but they could do as they wished. Alfin didn't have that high of a population, but they were as hard as hell to kill. Eris smirked at the thought, at least they were on good terms when he found that out. "Chosen One, why do we stop?" asked Maragohn, the Alfin's chosen leader. Eris sighed, he hated them calling him Chosen One, but it seemed they wouldn't quit, or at least every time he told them not to they went deaf at that time. He shook his head and replied, "We set up camp for the day I suppose. No point continuing further right now. Are you sure what I seek is in the east? My enemy is north." "Crimson is not our main concern right now Eris." Maragohn replied. "Oh, now you call me Eris." he laughed in reply. Maragohn remained silent. Eris shook his head. The Alfin didn't have a humorous side. At least other of his kind did though. Setting up camp he leaned back with his arms under his head for a time. It felt good to rest, now that he could think clearly. Even so, thoughts of Ravinia and Quasar still scarred him. Soaring through the late afternoon sky Incendia glanced around with joy. She loved flying so much especially when the air was crisp. Glancing down at a herd of deer she angled down, noticing a few human hunters. At once she landed in front of the heard, grabbed one with her jaws, and swatted another two with her tail. You can take those two. she told the startled humans and flew off again, chomping the deer in flight. She had been craving adventure for some time and enjoyed this flying around even if it didn't amount to much. Who couldn't love it? Doing leaps and turns though the air she angled up and gave a joyful roar to the sky. It was then she noticed a strange scent in the air. It smelt reptilian, but had the scent of two leggs. Glancing at the scent she raised her eyes in curiosity and angled towards it. Seeing a large camp she nearly fell out of the sky when she noticed snake people! "Chosen one! Dragon!'" one of them shouted. At once a man turned abruptly around grabbing a sword and prepared to use magic. Incendia stared at him oddly. A human two leg with snake two legs? What had she gotten herself into to? I mean you no harm, I am Incendia. The man stared at her for a moment and to her surprise did a small bow for respect, "I am Eris, it pleases me to meet you Incendia. Equinox has told me much about you. Gender: Girl Affiliation: Skulblakans Dragon: Faelia	Re: Fallen Brother Sofranir tiredly beat her wings beside her brother, Tel'aeír. She'd hardly ever flown this much, and neither had he. Dad, where are we headed? she asked, her tone a bit short because they'd been flying all day, only stopping to drink. Her father turned back to look at her with a soothing smile. I told you already. I'm taking you on a tour of Alagaësia. The first stop is the shore, which we should be coming upon..now. he said, and pulled in his wings to drop lower in the sky. Anir took a deep, calming breath, then tapped her younger brother on the flank twice with the tip of her tail. Her and Tel had made up a communication system so she didn't always have to tell him where to go. Two taps, as she'd done, meant gradually descend. One tap meant gradually ascend. He snorted in acknowledgment and pulled in his wings. The pale-blue-almost-white-dragoness followed close behind. She tilted her head abruptly. She recognized that scent. It was from when she hatched. Dad, I smell someone familiar. Who is that? she called ahead to her father. Zeke lifted his head and sniffed, then looked back at her with a grin. That's Incendia, your cousin. Would you like to visit? he asked, but the twinkle in his sightless ice blue eyes said that he knew her answer before she even articulated it into a sentence. Of course! Let's go! she cried. She didn't even need to tap her brother this time; he sped up with her pace easily, his completely smooth, snake-like scales allowing him to slip through the air like an eel at her side. After a few moments of flying, she saw her older cousin talking to a twoleg and two other snake-like beings. She pushed her tail into Tel's flank, signaling him to dive. They both drew in their wings at the same time and fell side by side. When it came time to pull up and backpedal, she pushed his flank again. Anir landed smoothly on the ground and eagerly bounded forward. Incendia! It's so wonderful to see you! she cried joyfully, screeching to a halt a few paces away from her cousin. Then she looked at the twoleg curiously. Who's this? I don't recognize him or his scent. she asked, hardly taking a breath. She heard Tel rumble a soft laugh from his position on her right flank. She ignored him. - - - - - - - - - - Zeke chuckled as his eldest daughter and youngest son took off at a clipped pace through the air. He watched them in awe, marveling yet again at how perfectly symmetrical their movements were. He followed a little bit behind, and landed behind his children just as Sofranir was asking who the twoleg was. He himself wasn't sure. He lit his eyes softly, just enough for him to see his surroundings, and squinted. Then his eyes widened in astonishment. Eris? Eris is that you? My goodness you've grown. he said, and chuckled wryly. Please excuse my daughter. he said, shooting Anir a reprimanding glance. She can sometimes be a bit outgoing. Anir smiled sheepishly. Would you like to introduce yourselves first before asking who they are? he suggested lightly. His daughter sighed and rolled her eyes, but obliged. She dipped her head respectfully. My name is Sofranir, daughter of Savania Silverwing. she said formally. Tel followed her lead, though his movements weren't as graceful and a bit more hesitant. The Alfin seemed the most weary some standing back, others gripping weapons. He never really understood the tw race's connections, but he didn't think it would be best for the Alfin to entice the dragons, even if by accident, "They mean you no harm." he told them. The Alfin nodded and went into their positions behind him. The over one thousand Alfin behind him made it seem as if he was a commander of an army. He sighed, he was used to being a simple soldier. Doing his own respectful bow he said, "I am pleased to meet you two. I am Eris, Rider to Quasar who is no more and Corporal of the Alfin." To Zeke he said, "Thank you. The Alfin cleansed my mind after what happened when Quasar sacrificed herself." Alfin? So that's what they are? Incendia asked. Eris nodded, "They are an old race, though most do not know of them." Maragohn grunted but Eris ignored him. It wasn't much information at all he told, the Alfin could be too picky at times. "This is Maragohn, he leads the Alfin under me. What brings you three here anyway?" he asked Zeke, Sof, and Tel. Incendia smiled at her two younger cousins. She hadn't seen them since they've hatched, It's nice to see both of you again. I'm glad to see you two are healthy. With a smile she added, How are Zeuk and Quasar? Do you two still have to keep them out of trouble? Everything was going strange as she thought of it, first Eris and the Alfin and how her cousins and uncle! She couldn't help but smirk, she loved when things turned out different than she had suspected. At least if they were good events anyway. How did you come across the Alfin? she asked Eris. "A long story I'll tell another time. They aren't conferrable with me telling you." The way Eris spoke made Incendia wonder his true intent. Was there a reason why he was hiding it? The way the Alfin were acting made it seem so. And they keep looking at her oddly. She shook her head and ignored the strange snake people. Landing near the shore of the ocean Zeuk snarled at his youngest sister to hurry up. She always took forever, but at least they were making good progress for once. He wasn't even sure why he let her come with him. Both thier other siblings and father had left the nest while he, and Quasar were supposed to stay with their mother, but she had let them do as they wished for a time. Then Quasar had to go and get both of them lost. It's not my fault! A giant bird was headed at me! she said for the hundredth time. Be quiet! he hissed, I'll get us out of the mess you got me into Zeuk shook his head, he didn't really know why he and Quasar didn't get along well, but they just didn't. He glanced back at his sister, even so, he'd make sure nothing bad happened to her, it was his responsibility to keep her safe. Leading her up the coast he caught several familiar scents, Quasar, do you smell that? he asked. She nodded and sped off in front of him. Speeding ahead of her brother to both get away from him and be the first to greet their father and siblings, Quasar descended almost ontop of several snake looking people and quickly turned to avoid them. It was them she also noticed her cousin Incendia and a two leg she didn't know that was human and not a snake person. Um... sorry for interrupting. she said with a blush as Zeuk descended right next to her. What have I told you about flying down and almost hitting people! Zeuk snarled. You're one to talk. she shot back. Trying to remain as un awkward as possible Quasar said to the human and snake people, Yeah um... I'm Quasar daughter of Savania Silverwing and this pain over here is Zeuk son of Zeke Blindscales. The human's eyes widened with surprise but why she did not know. After a pause he said, "I am Eris... pleased to meet you Quasar." Is something wrong? she asked. "No... it's just my dragon's name was Quasar before she died." Oh yeah... my mother Savania told me how I got my namesake. I'm greatly honored to be named after your dragon Eris. Eris nodded and asked, "Why are you and your other brother showing up after the rest of your family? Where's Savania?" Well... you see... Quasar glanced towards Zeke and said, It's something that is best not told in the presence of my father. But let me assure you it is my brother's fault. To Zeke, Sof, and Tel she said, How are you three doing? she quickly bounced over to the rest of her family and almost ran into Incendia, Glad to see you cousin. she said. Behind her Zeuk walked up to them trying to remain mature looking. In answer to you, Eris, I'm showing Tel and Anir the rest of Alagaësia. he said, and prummed again. He looked over as his youngest daughter, Quasar, and eldest son, Zeuk, descended down from the sky. He heard Incendia's question to Anir and Tel, and gave the three of them an odd look. He snorted softly, then turned to Quasar and Zeuk. Well enough. But I thought I told you two to stay with your mother for now. he scolded, then shook his head and chuckled. Ah, never mind. he huffed, and nuzzled Quasar affectionately. - - - - - - - - - - Anir huffed. Still as argumentative as they were at hatching. she grumbled, rolling her eyes. And yes, we do, occasionally. she glanced at her father meaningfully from the corner of her eye. She perked her head around when she heard wingbeats, and was delighted to see her other two siblings. And from the expressions on both their faces, they were arguing again. She sighed as Quasar and Zeuk approached them. Fine little sis. she purred, brushing her siblings side with the tip of her wing. Zeuk picking on you again? she murmured to her youngest sister privately. - - - - - - - - - - Tel grimaced when he heard his older sister speaking to Incendia. He looked up as his father and Anir greeted Quasar and Zeuk. He felt his older sister discreetly nudge his mind, meaning that his younger sister and oldest brother were disagreeing again. He snorted and touched Quasar's flank with the tip of his tail in greeting. We're doing well. he murmured. He glanced at Zeuk from the corner of his icy-pearl-white eye, despite his blindness. There was warning in their depths. He padded around his siblings, closer to the Alfin. He misjudged how close they were, and ended up bumping into one rather hard. He backed away hastily, shaking his head angrily and growling Draconic curses under his breath. Sorry, sorry. he muttered sourly, his brow furrowing. He felt movement behind him and assumed that either Anir or Zeke was moving towards him. He flicked his tail irritably to warn them away. He flared his nostrils and scented the area around him. He caught a scent that must be Eris, and headed for it. He stopped a foot from the twoleg, or what he thought was a foot, and tilted his head. Sorry for that. he murmured, moving his sightless icy-pearl-white eyes back to where he'd 'probably' bumped into one of the snake people. I'm blind and couldn't see that I was so close. he said, his tone a bit sharp as he mentioned his blindness. I know it must pain you, but...I've been curious of my grandmother as of late. Mother can't tell me much about her, and neither can Father. Would you mind telling me of Quasar? I do apologize, I'm eager to know as much about my family as I can, but if you'd rather not... he said, and trailed off in uncertainty and embarrassment. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. When Tel accidently ran into the Alfin, it acted as if it was its own fault. Eris shook his head, they were so different outside of the tower now that they were free. Then again, inside the tower he had only met about ten of them one of which was Maragohn, "It is alright dragon," the Alfin replied. At Tel's question, Eris glanced sadly around them all. He didn't like speaking of Quasar much after her death, perhaps it was for a similar reason he still didn't like to speak of Ravinia. Still, they had the right to know about their grandmother, "She was a great dragoness. She and I lost many friends during the riders fall and she even killed one of the Forsworn's dragons. I think you'd all like her she was wise, kind, loving, sometimes a bit rambunctious, but I think that was mostly Equinox's fault. Anyway... a few years ago when helping some friends in the Varden my brother Galedrim betrayed us. He helped Crimson capture Quasar, and Crimson forced her to mate with his twisted dragon named Frazer." a tear of both sorrow and rage dripped down his cheek. Eris couldn't help but clench his hands into a first on brining up that memory, "It wasn't really Frazer's fault though, he was controlled by a dark spirit Crimson forced inside of him." "The darknesssss, the darknessss..." the Alfin hissed, Eris ignored them though. "Her four eggs were stolen by Galedrim and we went on a quest to find them. We found three of them hatched already one was oddly older than the others, but you probably know her though, Elcyon, Equinox's mate. The other two you also know, Tvashtar and your mother, Savania. The fourtch we were too late to save. Crimson brought him over to his side." An audible snarl came from Incendia. Eris glanced towards her, she had heard the story likely by Equinox, "in a battle against Crimson's forces in the Spine, Quasar sacrificed herself to sever Equinox's rider bind with Crimson. If she hadn't he would have either died or been another one of Crimson's mind slaves." Incendia sighed and glanced at the oldest and youngest sibling. She'd have to straighten them out eventually. At least they aren't attacking each other though. I'm glad to see all of you, it's been a long flight. Where'd you come from? Zeuk asked. Out east, just north of the Beor Mountains. Feeling something touch her leg she glanced down thinking it was one of her cousins. Snorting with surprise she glanced down at the Alfin, "The east... yesss... a dragoness of the east." Eris, what's up with your snake people? "Long story." he replied. Incendia snarled irritably at his comment, Long story this long story that. I'm not a hatchling anymore Eris. she hissed. Eris laughed, "I know you're not oh miss wise old dragoness. Please forgive me. There actually is a reason why I shouldn't tell you. The Alfin don't want me to." Incendia glared at him but couldn't help but smile. This seemed like the old him, or at least what her father said. My father would be glad to see you back Eris. Nodding he replied with a smile, "How is Equinox doing these days?" Fine, he was upset when you raged out, but he's been fine. Doing the same old stuff as always. "It makes since he would be, if I remember right I pretty much said I quit fighting for our cause. I have some making up to do with him, but I'm glad to here he's doing well," Eris smiled warmly. Zeuk glanced at his father and his other siblings. It was Quasar's fault, but he decided not to bring it up. Glad at the fact Zeke didn't seem to mind they left the next without asking he replied to Anir, It was her fault though. She was the one who got us lost. I was just trying to escape I giant bird that wanted to eat us! Quasar replied with a snap but rather quietly. Hey! Both of you behave! Incendia snarled. Zeuk glanced at his cousin and decided it was best not to challenge her. He watched the snake people closely, something seemed odd with them. He couldn't place what it was, but they seemed to have a strange mystical scent to them. Maybe they had the same ability he did? He shook his head, he doubted it. But something about them seemed very familiar. I've seen them before. In a vision. he announced. To her two middle siblings Quasar replied, I'm glad to hear that. As Anir spoke to her about Zeuk she replied, Yeah, mostly the usual stuff. As you heard I was trying to escape a large bird and accidently got us lost. Quasar shrugged and listened as Eris told them about their grandmother. It was strange to hear something in the past even if not too far. As he spoke she shivered about the end, of how her grandmother died and about their own mother's hatching. Still, she was glad to have such a proud and great dragon in their ancestry, she just wished she could have met her. I'm sorry to hear that Eris. She murmured. "It's alright," a sad look crossed his face, "I just wish there was more I could have done. He crooned softly in sympathy once the twoleg had finished. I'm sorry for your loss, Eris. he murmured. He lightly touched Quasar's shoulder with his tail tip. It was Savania's idea to name a hatchling after your companion. he told Eris quietly. He glanced up sharply as he heard Zeuk speak up. He padded hastily around his other three children to stand beside his eldest son. When Zeuk spoke of a vision, it wasn't to be taken lightly. Do you remember what you saw, besides the Alfin? he urged gently, tilting his head as if he were only curious. - - - - - - - - - - Tel crooned apologetically. I'm sorry. She sounds like she was a wonderful companion, and I think she would have been a doting grandmother to all of us. he murmured, nudging Eris's arm with his snout in a comforting gesture. His attention was diverted as he noticed Incendia barking at Quasar and Zeuk for them to behave. He hid a smirk. He was just getting ready to hesitantly ask what his grandmother looked like, when his eldest brother spoke up of seeing the Alfin before in a vision. Instantly he was on alert, twisting his head around sharply to stare unseeingly at Zeuk. - - - - - - - - - - Anir chuckled and grinned. Yes, that is a bonus. she said. She looked down at Quasar and prummed in her throat. Good. If he gets any worse, tell me or your brother and one of us will give Zeuk a swift kick in the tail. she promised, her vivid silver eyes gleaming. She looked up then at said brother when he spoke of a vision. She frowned worriedly, her brow furrowing, and shot a glance at Tel. The two middle siblings were so closely linked that he felt her gaze, and nodded in response to it, silently acknowledging that he'd heard. She shifted her eyes to Eris, and realized that the twoleg would probably be confused by Zeuk's announcement as well as everyone's reaction to it. She reached out a tendril of thought to Eris's mind and contacted him privately. Zeuk is gifted with the power of foresight, either in the form of a premonition or a prophecy. Premonition is what might happen, because it can be changed by the events leading up to it. Prophecy is what will happen for certain, no matter of the events up to it. she explained to the ex-Dragon Rider, then shifted her attention onto her older brother anxiously. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Gender: Guy Affiliation: Dragonriders Dragon: Avadius	Re: Fallen Brother "Thank you," Eris replied to them. It was strange, to keep thinking back to Quasar now. Wiping a small tear from his eye he said, "Savania did a good job with naming you Quasar." Quasar gave a smile at his comment. Both he and the Alfin gave surprised glances as Zeuk mentioned he saw them in a vision. The Alfin were talking amongst themselves in their own language so the others wouldn't hear. As Anir told him about the premonition and prophecy he couldn't help but be amazed. Such a strange power it seemed to know the future. "What did you see?" he asked curiously. By the looks on the dragon's faces this had happened before, "Do you remember them?" he asked. Usual, I don't know most of the time when I'm doing it, but afterwards I remember what I said or saw. Intrigued, Eris waited for Zeuk to explain what he saw. Behind him, the Alfin ceased speaking and listened intently. Zeuk stared impatiently at them all as he wanted them to explain what he saw. He didn't mind doing it, but it often made him nervous telling them what he saw, part of the reason was if it could turn out bad, though as far as he could tell it wasn't. The Alfin made him worry but he couldn't explain why, perhaps it was the strange scent he could get from them. Could they sense it to? That he himself had strange powers? To all their questions and looks he said, It's vague, I only have a premonition. Thinking back into his own thoughts to remember them properly he said, The premonition was of several dragons flying to the north, some of which were being ridden by Alfrin he paused for a moment as the Alfin glanced at him. Shivering for a moment he continued, They weren't the dragon's masters, but they seemed to be leading them somewhere, maybe into battle. Something was odd about the Alfin, it was as if they were harvesting something, but what, I couldn't tell. About a minute into it a thunderous explosion ripped through the air. After that everything turned dark. The vision blackened and it changed to a single Alfin standing on a large hill. It was holding a sword, a skull, and headstone. This is where the premonition ended. From what I could tell it means two things, this land will be taken by the sword, being overwhelmed by a strange evil, or die out. Under the Alfin were dying grass and plants and animals. I think it meant that the other choice would lead to peace but it is slim and growing slimmer with every passing year. What will affect what and change what I do not know, but those are four possible outcomes, one may even happen with the other. Listening closely, Incendia glanced at her cousin, what he said was strange, it surprised her, but what could it mean? The four possible outcomes disturbed her, well three did, but the fourth did since it meant that the chances of peace were shrinking every year. Or at least what is what Zeuk though it meant and she trusted him. These premonitions seemed as if they could be hard to understand, and poor Zeuk looked like he wanted to understand it all. He'd had some practice with deciphering visions because of his grandfather, Zephorion, also having the gift of foresight. But he could wheedle nothing out of this one. He sighed and looked up as the Alfin leader, Maragohn, answered Quasar's inquiry. I suppose its one of those premonitions that we must wait for the right moment to try and discern. he said, and looked at Zeuk sympathetically. Like himself, his eldest son bore a heavy burden with his powers. - - - - - - - - - - Anir crooned and nudged her older brother in the shoulder comfortingly. She lifted her head and looked at Maragohn, her vivid silver eyes drilling into him. Then she abruptly twisted back around to Zeuk. Was the vision in a sort of shadow, so it was only the shapes you Saw, or was it in color? she asked, her gaze intense. If they could at least discern the color of the dragons that he'd seen, perhaps they could discern the vision a bit, even if it was only a little. - - - - - - - - - - Tel remained where he was in front of Eris, contemplating. He got no further than his father had, though he perked his head up when his older sister asked Zeuk, in a subtle, indirect way, if he'd seen the color of the dragons. He turned around and padded back to his family, only to find that he'd swung around a bit too far, and slammed nose first into Incendia's shoulder. He backed away from his older cousin, his mood turning sour. And to top it off now his snout was throbbing. Sorry. he muttered angrily under his breath, though it was loud enough for Incendia to hear. He only had to wait a few moments, and suddenly he felt Anir's tail draped in its customary position across his flank. She didn't speak to him or try to comfort him with words; he silently thanked her for that. She only led him around their cousin and to their family. Once there he shrugged her tail off and sat sullenly beside his father, ignoring his other siblings for the time being. Glancing at the ground for a moment he looked back up to see the Alfin staring intently him. It seemed they partially knew what he meant. When his sister asked him about color he closed his eyes for a moment to bring back the image. After a few minutes he replied with his eyes still closed, It was light out when the dragon's were flying with the Alfin except for the very far edges which were dark. When the Alfin was standing with the four objects, the Alfin was light but it everything grew darker as it grew away from him... yes, it was male, but I don't think that's important. Anyway, at the very far back of that image it was pitch black. Blood was dripping on the sword getting some of the dead flowers and grass wet with blood. He paused, looking around at all of them. That's all I remember. I'm not really sure what it means though. Trying not to show his worry he stepped a little closer to his father. He accepted Incendia's warmth as she gave him a quick nudge of comfort. As Zeuk went to remember what he saw and as he told it, Eris grabbed a log to sit down. He wasn't any good at deciphering foretelling of any sort, but he racked his brains to try and decode any part of it, "I think part of it means that the dragons and Alfin will fight for the good side." He shrugged it off though, that was likely obvious. Ge glanced back towards the Alfin as they were deep in thought. "Was the Alfin wielding the sword or simply holding it?" one of the Alfin asked. What? Zeuk questioned. From the look on the dragon Eris could tell it was a confusing question. It did make sense though since he was only a young dragon. "He means how it was held," standing up Eris pulled out his sword and simply held it in his hand no in any defensive or offensive stance, "Was it held like this or like this," he changed his stance to an aggressive one than to a defensive one." It seemed like it was being held like the first with a bit of the third. Zeuk replied. "Then the Alfin will not cause the war, we will be fighting for our defense, for our allies, for the land, or a mixture of the three." Maragohn replied. The other Alfin nodded in agreement. Incendia gave Tel a slight nudge, telling him it was ok. She felt sorry for her cousin but knew he likely wouldn't want her to feel sorrow for him, Maybe he'd be able to see like Zeke would. He hoped so. As Zeuk explained the coloring and when the Alfin spoke, Incendia listened and stood next to her cousin who seemed to be nervous and a little stressed for having to have known this. What about the rest of it? Do you know more of it? she asked them. "We have speculations." Maragohn replied but it seemed he wouldn't elaborate, "if we told you everything it could turn out worse. Besides, not even we know everything." Incendia nodded, she glanced at them as they glanced at her. They seemed so smart about foretelling. Had they had any of their own foretelling? She decided she leave it for another time to ask. Glancing towards her older brother Quasar thought of what he said. Though she couldn't get much out of it she thought that the blood dripping on the flowers and grass was somehow important, Could it mean that the Alfin will lose since the blood is dripping on the last bit of peace? "No," Maragohn replied, "premonitions aren't that specific. Well, other than the specific details, this vision seems rather clear; dragons and Alfin join forces to help defend the land. here she paused and rolled her eyes. Yeah. Like defending is such a new concept. she said sourly. Her whip-like tail cracked twice from side to side, and she peeled her lips back to reveal her needle-like teeth and fangs. She growled once, softly, but it was definitely audible. Can you pinpoint the timing of the vision, Zeuk? Or is this something that could happen at any time? she asked, looking up at her older brother. Timing could prove crucial. - - - - - - - - - - Tel merely grunted at Incendia's comforting nudge. He leaned against his father, feeling comforted as he always did by the amethyst's warm scales. His tail tip twitched as he heard Anir's growl, and he lifted his head a bit. He knew she could sometimes charge into things without thinking. He sighed a bit when she only asked Zeuk about his vision. He closed her eyes, not like having them open was doing him any good, and drew in a deep breath through his nose. Just as he released it out of his mouth, nausea hit him with a vengeance. He clenched his eyes tighter and ignored it. Titanium must be close by. Perhaps in the Alfin's ranks. Nothing in the vision indicated it was in the future, but somehow he knew it was, far into the future, very far. I think other races are involved, but somehow it will be closely related to dragons and Alfin. "Could you tell any land marks? Anything that would have indicated where the dragons and Alfin were going to?" Maragohn asked. No, none at all. When they were flying, it was over an ocean. "Whatever it is then, this event will cover a whole portion of the world, possibly already happening in some areas." Zeuk wasn't exactly sure wheat he meant, but a shiver went through his body. He heard Zeuk's words of the vision being from the future, and they somehow made sense. He got to his paws to walk toward his older brother, though his legs trembled from the weakening affects of being near titanium. He shook his head, as if trying to clear a cloud of flies. He felt his father get up and brace his foreleg against Tel's side. What's wrong, Tel? asked Zeke worriedly. It sometimes amazed the pale-lavender-steel-silver-lined male that his father was so perceptive, despite his blindness. Titanium. Don't worry about me. It's manageable. he insisted, closing his eyes again. He heard the amethyst's growl, and a rumble vibrated his own throat. Dad, take it easy. It's my weakness, I'll deal with. he muttered. He hated having to think back of the memories since they sometimes led to even more of the vision which could turn out bad, Multi color, most were either electric green or purple- Lighting dragons! Incendia put in Mostly likely anyway. My father is part lighting dragon and he said most are either electric green, simply green, or purple. Any other colors? Surprised by the fact Zuek replied Some were bluish, silver, copperish, red, and a few others. He only knew of two lightning dragons, Equinox, and Violeta. Could there perhaps be more, somewhere else in the world, outside of Alagaësia? He snorted quietly at the thought, then looked up in Zeuk's general direction. Do we know any dragons with any of those possible scale colors? he asked, then suddenly shook his head. So many questions were coming up. Just what did these strange snake people know? "She's right, we should move on," Eris said, "if all are free to join me, but I'm not sure where this will take from. Glancing around at the others she said, Alright fine. Glancing towards Incendia she said What about Incendia! I'm two years old Quasar and besides, my father said I could go around if I want. Glancing down Quasar replied, Alright, come on Zeuk let's go. She flew into the air without waiting for her brother's reply See you guys soon. she called back. You know if you wouldn't have gotten us lost. Zeuk teased. Oh shut up! Stop complaining and come with me. Zeuk smirked at his sister and flew alongside her back to their nest. Flying through the vents he stared back at the Alfin, Zeke, Tel, Amir, Incendia and Eris. Watching Quasar for a moment he sighed. There was something he did leave out of the vision that he wasn't sure they should know of. He also so a great forest burning with smoke rising from the trees and large death camps. What struck him the most though, were the bodies of elves hanging from the tress of DuWeldenvarden. Leading the Alfin on foot Eris glanced up at the dragons. Though he hated flying, he knew it would take some time to get to their position, but he didn't want to offend any of the dragons by asking them if he could ride them. The Alfin could walk fast, but he couldn't. Telling Maragohn to lead them east, he quickly ran into a small town, bought a horse and came back to lead them riding a proud black stallion. "I do hope Savania comes," he said, "I haven't seen her for some time. How is she doing Zeke?" Flying with her cousins and uncle, Incendia glanced back as Zeuk and Quasar left to tell Savania of what they were doing. She couldn't help but worry about Zeuk. Something seemed odd with him, like he was hiding something. Where do you all come from? she asked the Alfin. "An island off the coast. We were imprisoned by the Darkness when the Chosen One freed us." Eris grunted at being called the Chosen One, but the Alfin seemed to ignore it, Imprissened? What do you mean? "We were slaves," Maragohn replied, "slaves to the darkness. Whoever came to our tower we asked them what they wanted, and they had to pay a price. Whatever the price was, we had to give to the darkness. The Darkness... forced us to to terrible things to people we took captive. Some of which are to horrible to speak of." Several of the Alfin shivered and snarled angrily about what they had been forced to do. Incendia couldn't help but feel sorry for them. Why did this Darkness enslave you? Maragohn shrugged, "It saw us as useful. It wanted to corrupt us. Many of our brothers and sisters fell to its corruption. Zeke watched Quasar and Zeuk fly back to the nest. He too had seen the strange hesitation in his son, but, with the knowledge of the vision, he wrote it off as unease. He looked at Eris as he spoke, and smiled wolfishly. He settled alongside the twoleg on the ground, content to simply walk for a while. I hope she comes too. She stays around the nest a lot, it would do her good to get out for a bit. She's doing fine, though. As happy, eager, and protective as she always is. If not a tad more protective. Glancing back she asked, I something wrong? I'm fine. He replied. She didn't believe her, but chose not to press the issue. Flying closer to the mountain she sighed, she could tell their mother was home. Mom! she shouted. Zeuk hissed at her but she ignored him. At once Savania flew out of the mountain like an arrow and blasted towards them. Quasar! Zeuk! she roared at them, Quasar quickly landed to where she indicated with Zeuk right behind them. Quasar lowered her head, she could tell they were in for a talking to. Glaring at her two children, Savania led them back into the mountain with both of them behind her. Staring back worried, angry, and relieaved all at the same time she said, So, you two fly off without leaving me any clue of where you're going. You could have gotten yourselves killed! Do you know how much I worried about you two! she snarled. As she thought about it maybe she shouldn't have been too harsh since she had flown off without telling anyone many times. Then again, she wasn't a hatchling and when she did hatch she was alone anyway. Sorry... we just wanted to explore. Tel and Anir did. Quasar said quietly. And that was with your father. If you two would have waited a few more minutes for me I would have taken you two somewhere. Zeuk lowered his head down and Savania quickly went over to both of them to comfort her children. Putting a conferring wing over both of them she said, I'm just glad you two are safe. Where'd you go? When Savania asked him and Quasar about where they were, Zeuk knew better than to lie. Besides, they hadn't gotten into any trouble, but he did decide for his sister's sake to leave out the terra bird chasing them. We went to the coast to explore for a little. We found father, Tel, Anir, Eris, Incendia, and a creature called Alfin. We talked with them for a while and father told us to come back and tell you. I also had a preposition. he quickly told her what he saw and Savania glanced at him and gave him a comforting nudge. Everything will turn out fine Zeuk. she said warmly. Zeuk nodded uncertainly. Eris smiled at Zeke's words. The thought of Savania with children was strange. It was hard for him to picture the immature rambunctious hatchling having children. Then again, he hadn't seen her for some time and when he did his own mind had been ravaged. "I'm glad she's doing well. It has been a long time. My last clear memory of her was just shortly after the battle. You picked a good choice for a mate Zeke." Eris sighed and glanced into the distance with thoughts of Ravinia. Looking at the Alfin he wondered if he should have taken up on their offer, to erase all memories of her. No, they were good memories. He would avenge her by killing the one responsible for her death. I would ask one of you for a ride, but I don't want to offend you. Also I have a slight fear of heights that Quasar would always laugh at me for." He heard from above Incendia snort with laughter, I heard that! he said to her with al laugh. To Zeke he said, "The Alfin also wish I could move faster. They can run almost as fast as a flying dragon." Maragohn shot him a glare. "What?" Eris said. You're reveling too much. They won't understand what it means. You're a strange creature to them just like you were to me when I first saw your kind in the tower. Maragohn grimaced but remained silent. Eris simply shrugged it off. Watching for oldest and youngest hatchling for a moment Savania went to the front of the cave, Where are you going? Quasar asked her. Savania glanced back at her children. She actually had no plans on going anywhere, but she knew how much they wanted to explore and she knew what it was like for others to not let you, not to mention she wanted to get out herself. If you two want I'll take you back where you two came from. I want to get out two and I know how much you two dislike being kept up in here. At once Zeuk and Quasar flew out of the next and Savania led them on. He was still chortling when Eris jumped off the horse and walked back to him. He crouched a bit lower so it was easier for the Rider, then straightened up to his full height. He prummed warmly and glanced back at the twoleg. Its a pleasure. he said, smiled, then stepped out. His run was smooth and long, like how his father had taught him. He circulated the tips of his wings to let him run faster, and this allowed him to cover almost twelve yards in each leaping bound. Now, being blind, he of course couldn't see his mate approaching from the Hadarac, and he was too low to catch her scent. So he was pleasantly surprised when Anir cried out Mom! in greeting. He slowed his pace and raised his head happily. When he wondered if the Alfin could keep up with Phal he gave a laugh ad replied, "Oh that would be interesting to see. I've never seen them outrun a dragon before, but for all I know they could be even faster than they let on. I'm their leader and yet they always continue to surprise me." Where did they come from? asked Savania. "An island of the coast. They were imprisoned in a tower by some kind of darkness." You mean the shadows? Eris was caught off guard by the question but he quickly shook his head, "No, not the Shadows. I don't know the details since getting information from an Alfin is like climbing to the top of the Beor's but they say the Shadows and the Darkness are the same but different at the same time." Giving Savania a confused look to show that he didn't understand it either she simply snorted and glanced down. I've flown to the top of the Beors. So maybe I'll be able to crack this nut. Incendia put in. Both Savania and Eris stared at her. Incendia simply grinned back at them for entering in their conversation. "You have?" Eris exclaimed. Long story Eris. Eris glared at her making both dragoness laughed. Screams or pain echoed through the fringes of the Hadarac. Galedrim sat over a small ledge, watching the burning caravans and the nomads which were burning alive. The fools, thinking they could resist his forces. Crimson was right, these savages had to be destroyed completely to take secure control over the desert. Some clans had surrendered, while others still put up a fight. "Sir," a mind controlled elf said, "what are your orders?" "Sit back and enjoy the show." he replied, leaning back in his chair and watched the flames crackle into the air. In the sky dark smoke rose into the air, though it would be a beacon to anyone nearby it didn't worry him. He and the soldiers with him could kill them if foe or simply invite them into their camp if fiends. Near the edge of the flames were dragon corpses. Galedrim smiled brightly at them. When Incendia piped up after Eris's comment about the Alfin and the Beor's, he too stared at her. He only knew of one dragoness that could have flown that high, and that was Phal. Now there was two? He shook his head in amazement and chuckled to himself. Then he laughed a bit louder at Incendia's reply to Eris's question. His blind ice blue eyes glittered with humor. Nice. he commented her with a wide grin. OOC: Hmm...I'm thinking about bringing in Jia, but I don't know where...I was thinking maybe she would stumble across Galedrim's company and perhaps be taken prisoner. His conversation with Savania and Incendia made him wonder just what they could have meant. Were the darkness and shadows the same or different? It seemed some of the Alfin couldn't even understand what they were. Maragohn, exactly what is the darkness? he asked, but the Alfin refused to reply. "Alfin and their bloody mysteries." he muttered to himself. Watching the flames, Galedrim ordered for the captive to be brought out to him. There weren't many, just a few women, children, old people, and even a dragon hatchling. "General, what should we do with them?" A human asked. He unlike some of the soldiers wasn't mind controlled, he was perfectly loyal to Crimson's cause. "Kill them, but save the hatchling. Lord Crimson requires more dragons." "Yes sir." the man replied and went over to a young child which he tore from his screaming mother, "I think this annoying brat should die first." "Go ahead, kill the whelp." Galedrim sneered. She'd already been going for a few days now. She sighed and blinked open her eyes, then stuttered to a halt in the air. A huge cloud of smoke was roiling up from the ground. If she strained her ears, she could hear the high-pitched wails of dieing people. And...was that the keening wail of a dragon hatchling? Instant anger flashed across her eyes. She launched herself forward in the air toward the cloud, the screams growing louder every moment. Her eyes caught sight of a line of twolegs, men, women, children, and the dragonet that she'd heard. A soldier had ripped one crying boy from his mother. But no matter how much that angered her, it was erased when she saw the man that stood before the line. She'd seen him before, in Zeke's memories. Galedrim. That was his name. She roared angrily and dove, shrieking her rage at the twoleg that had betrayed her family. She landed between Galedrim and the captives with a thunderous thud that shook the ground. She roared again and slashed at the soldier that held the boy. The boy ripped himself free and fled toward his mother. The gold-amethyst snarled and turned on the twoleg. She only stood still as stone when he leaped up and shot electrical streams down at her. Her grandfather had taught her how to deflect them. She turn her shoulder into the bolts and lifted her scales from the skin so the streams would rebound and head back toward him. her voice was quiet now when she spoke, even more dangerous because it meant she was too angry to shout. You have no idea of Eris's pain after Quasar's death. No idea whatsoever. You call him weak, but he was lucky to survive, and he endured, despite turning half crazy. But he's better now. I remember overhearing Zeke and Savania talking about him. I will not repeat what they said. she hissed softly, her teal eyes glowing like a coal. That is what they all felt at Quasar's death. I experienced Quasar's death through Savania's eyes, Equinox's, and Phalynx's. Eris's rage, his pain, his loss. She realized in the very back of her mind that her anger must be so intense, that the magical cage she'd erected around herself and Galedrim must have collapsed. She had tucked her head against her chest to protect it from the arrows, and she didn't see the molten rock being blasted at her. She roared in pain as it slammed into her, forcing her to her knees from the scorching, searing agony. She'd endured worse, but it was still like trying to walk through lava. Then the heat touched the scars on her neck and tail, and real pain ripped through her. There were no words in her mind that could describe this kind of pain. She screamed. It was a high-pitched sound, shriek-like and grating on the ears. It was a sound that a dragon shouldn't be capable of making. But somehow, through this pain, she stayed conscious. She didn't know how, but she did. It was only after it ended, when she was laying on the ground, that her mind slipped into darkness, and she passed out. - - - - - - - - - - Zeke abruptly roared and went limp in the air. He fell to the ground and landed with a thud, sliding several yards from his momentum. The base of his tail and the left side of his neck shrieked with a pain that was indescribable. It was so intense that he could do nothing but lay there. This almost rivaled the pain of the Numbing Torture from Leurgan's Fortress. It lasted for so long he wasn't sure if it was real. Then it simply disappeared, like putting out lantern. He gasped at the release of it, panting for breath when he realized he'd been holding it for the entire time. He twisted around until he laid on his stomach, still panting. His head was tucked to his chest, eyes screwed tightly shut. Sorry...You okay, Eris? he asked the Rider on his back without moving. He felt Anir and Tel quickly descending and running to his side, but he still didn't move when his son nudged him. Dad, you okay? asked Anir. Yes, dearest. he said, opening his eyes. But somethings wrong. he added. Without giving further explanation, he dove into his Heart Touch and searched for the source of the pain. Placing a hand on her snout he laughed bitterly, "Inject her with the serum so her magic won't work." "Yes sir." a soldier replied. Taking out a long needle used on magic users so they couldn't use magic, the made the doseage musch higher to work on Jia. Wedging the needle into her snout, he waited for the serum to sink fully into her before handing the needle back, "She'll be up in about an hour. Get chains on her and tie her inside one of the wagons we took from the nomads." At once the humans and elves begun to drag Jia to one of the few remaining wags. Galedrim stationed guards around it and they helped to lift Jia inside of it where they chained her inside and put a large muzzle over her mouth. "General, what are your orders?" "Do as you wish to her. Beat her, maim her, anything and when I say anything I mean anything you can think of to start breaking her. Make sure she lives. We want a live dragon when we turn her into Crimson not a dead one." Galedrim ordered.' "Yes sir!" Eris barely hung on to Zeke as he feel from the sky, only staying on the dragon by holding onto a neck spine. Leaning over, he puked, making sure not to hit Zeke's wing or side, "Yeah, I'm fine." he said dizzily, still holding onto the neck spike and bent over to the side, "What happened Zeke? True, he never met Jia, or at least as he could remember, but he'd heard from her from Equinox, Savania, and others. Even more so her captured by Galedrim... "We have to get to her quickly. Who knows what that monster will do to her." He knew that Galedrim would likely turning her into Crimson, but he decided best not to bring it up. "Chosen One, empire soldiers spotted not to far away from us." an Alfin said running towards them. Eris hadn't even noticed one ran off to scout. "Empire?" he gasped, "ride by them, they are no longer alies with Crimson and would likely help us." You can't be serious Eris! Their Galbatorix's soldiers. Savania snarled. "It would take too long to fight them. Savania, you know what Galedrim and Crimson did with your mother. True, Frazer is dead and Dsurion isn't being controlled by a dark spirit," Eris was surprised when the Alfin didn't chant 'the Darkness', "but we both know what kind of experiment they do." Eris... we can't accept Galbatorix's help. That could possibly turn people against us. Eris knew she was right. Snarling he said, "Fine, Maragohn, take half the Alfin and wipe out those soldiers. The rest of the Alfin head towards the desert and scout out Galedrim's camp." "Yes sir," they replied. What about us? said Zeuk We want to help Jia too. "Get back into the air, running the Alfin may beat us there." Eris quickly scurried Galedrim, "I can't tell, but it seems like he has a large army with him. I never knew Crimson trusted him that much. Anyway, we are outnumbered even with the Alfin. Once we arrive and they finished scouting the camp, I say we sneak in their and free Jia." One problem with that Eris. How can a dragon sneak though a camp? Savania asked. Eris sighed and replied, "Can any of you transform into a human?" Incendia, Savania, Quasar, and Zeuk shook their heads, "Well," Eris replied, "Look's like I'll be the one sneaking through then unless Zeke, Amir, or Tel can." Walking into the wagon, Galedrim placed his palm on Jia's head saying in the Ancient Language, "Awaken." As she begun to come through he said, "Listen carefully Jia, there is a serum though your body so you can't use magic and you are chained properly to this wagon. He kept quiet through the ensuing argument, thinking to himself. At the mention of shifting to a human, he suddenly lifted his head. Wait a second. Jia's Rider, Ka, can wield a specific kind of magic, called Seals. It's very similar to the Ancient Language, though in some ways better. Jia showed me a Changing Seal, a type of Seal that allows the bearer to Change to any being they wish. It takes little concentration. She herself has it set on her. Maybe if I can replicate it by scratching it in the earth, I can set it on someone and turn them into a human. he offered, and instantly looked at his mate. Would you be willing to go, Savania? Your metal bending abilities could prove handy. he said, but he was already busy scratching the Seal manually into the earth. It didn't take long, since it was a rather small Seal. Now all he had to do was touch it with his energy to fuel it and set it on whoever volunteered. - - - - - - - - - - Jia groaned. She heard a voice she didn't recognize right away, and she tried to shake away the fog. It fell away rather easily, and she opened her eyes. Memories came back to her, of pain, mostly, but she remembered before that. Her teal eyes burned with anger, almost glowing like a smoldering coal. If looks could kill, Galedrim would have been dead five times over. She tried to touch her Seals, any of them, and found she couldn't. Not even her Changing Seal that allowed her to Change to a human. She attempted to open her jaws to snarl, but found she couldn't do that either because of a dragon muzzle. So she merely hissed instead. I will never be broken. Your pitiful magic can not best the hundreds of thousands of Hearts that Galbatorix used on me. Torture away. I'm also desensitized to it, because my Rider is quite adept in the practice as well. I know how to block out the pain. I warn you, if I get free from here, I'll be torturing you. I'll make you beg for death. she said calmly. Going up to Jia he touched her side and sent a blast of ice through her. Making several large air blasts shoot at her, they didn't actually peel of her scales, but he made it seem like it. Picking up a piece of stone he brought in he said to her, "Now Jia, you will do as my soldier say. You sill stay very still for them, if you do not, I will have my soldiers invade your mind and they will make you relive every horrible memory you've had, even make some that didn't. Also, I will put this stone on you, it will feel like acid digging through you. Each hour its on the pain will magnify tenfold." With that he began to leave and said to his soldiers, "Bring me back in in about a few hours. " Savania thought of it for a moment. She glanced around for a moment and replied, I don't mind. How long will it take to make though? I want to come to! Quasar shouted. No, you do as Eris and your father say Quasar. You and your siblings are too young for this. She had definitely had worse done to her, but it still hurt like the nine levels of Hell, as her Rider would have said. She didn't respond to Galedrim - what good would it do? - and simply laid there, waiting. - - - - - - - - - - Zeke had finished the Seal by then. He smiled at Eris, Quasar, and his mate, though it was heavily shadowed by worry for his sister. He motioned for Savania to step closer, and he looked her dead in the eyes. I don't know how the Seal works exactly, but it will Change your shape to that of a human female. Whether your clothed or not...Well, Jia always is when she Changes, so I guess just envision clothes on your human self. In case your not, I have some spare tunics and trousers of Ella's in my saddle. he said, then glanced down at the Seal. He touched it with a paw and let his energy leech into it. The Seal began pulsing a reddish grey color, then it lifted from the ground and engulfed his mate in a brief flash of light. He extended both his wings out on either side of her, low to the ground, just in case she wasn't clothed so she could duck under a wing for privacy. When it cleared, she was Changed. OOC: Oh, great. >.< You can decide if Savania is clothed or not. Basically all the Seal does is Change her appearance to that of a human woman. She can still use her metal bending. I'll let you decide what she looks like. She wasn't exactly sure what to do but when she took it she said, It reminds me of Ephidel's magic seal. At once when she had it she could feel herself transform. Her wings begun to shrink into her back along with her tail. Everything seemed to grow larger as she grew smaller to a human size. When it was finished she collapsed to the ground, at first unsure how to walk on two legs. "Not bad Savania." Eris said with a wink and a laugh. Savania glanced at her self and quickly dove under Zeke's wing to put the clothes on and snarled at Eris. "Pervert." Savania muttered to herself as she came out from under he mate's wing. Word's coming from her mouth felt strange. Fingering her long dark almost black silver hair, "It's so strange being like this. How do humans manage on two legs all the time." "How do dragon's manage to fly?" Eris said. Savania gave him a glare and shook her head. Peering at him and Zeke from her silver eyes. She wasn't that much of a judge on human beauty, but by the way Eris was looking at her she thought she must looked attractive. "Well Zeke, it seemed to work." Savania said nervouly and climbed up onto him behind Eris. "Should we get going? Growing board of wandering around the camp Galedrim headed back to where Jia was. Gripping the stone, he decided he would start with it now. After all it wasn't like she could break free. On entering it again he saw the soldiers inside were on her, some were stabbing her, others were doing things that he couldn't see well. Going up to Jia he placed the stone on her and made it burn. Not good at entering minds he had a mage do it for him and he said thorugh the mage, "You know Jia, I can bring back your pain, your memories, all that have hurt you." At once the mage begun to draw back those memories to make her relive it. Galedrim smirked at her, "Tell me Jia, how much does the stone burn? As it said every hour it will increase tenfold." Leaving the mage to do his work he walked to Jia's other side. Picking up her wing he slowly tore the membrane to make a small tear in her wing, "Tell me everything bit on information you know Jia and I will make all this stop. Trut me, my soldiers are creative and I can do much more, so much more. Tell me all know, about your brother, about your and his friends, about Galbatorix, the defenses around his castle, his soldiers. Tell me everything you know." It was so strange to her to be flying on a dragon instead of being the one flying. "Such a strange sensation... so this is how two legs feel like." "Yeah pretty much. but you're at least lucky you don't feel nausious." "That's because dragon's are meant for the air." She was about to reply to what Zeke said, but Savania gave a yell and threw her arms around Eris' waist as Zeke increased his speed, "Warn me before you do that!" Eris laughed in front of her. When she finally realized what Zeke said, a frown crossed her face and from her stomach was a pang of worry, "She'll be ok Zeke... we'll get her out." Savania patted Zeke's back to try and sooth him. Eris growled to himself, "I never thought Galedrim had it in him to torture. Shows me I was wrong about him." Staring into the sky he said, "Don't worry Jia, hold on." "Do you still love your brother Eris?" Savania asked. The question caught him off guard. Eris stared into the sky, unsure of how to answer, "I don't know... he's my brother but with all he's done." he shook his head. Savania lightly flicked Eris' hear to try and confort him and said, "Eris, I still love Dsruion. I know he's evil, but he's my brother. Its ok to feel sorrow for family that's betrayed you. It shows that we are better than them that we still care about them even though they betrayed us." Eris grunted but remained silent, "Yes, but Dsurion didn't betray you, he hatched to Crimson who corrupted his mind. Dsurion never helped kidnap your dragon and have her get raped and her eggs stolen!" Tears streamed from Eris' eyes but he wasn't sure if they were from anger, fear, sorrow, or a mix of the three. "It's similar Eris, Dsurion's mind was corrupted more than Crimson raised himn to think that way, it's still a betrayl. You don't know how much it turn Elcyoun, Tvashtar, and I." Eris stared off and nodded, "I know... I just want to free Jia and bring my brother to justice." Savania nodded, "We will." Galedrim smirked, the stone seemed to be doing its job as it begun to burn even hotter now along with the images that flowed into her mind. "Oh Jia, you don't understand. You see, Galbatorix didn't have mind controlled puppets that would do everything he said. Lord Crimson is interested in half breeds. Now, want my puppets to do to you what Shruikan did? Give me the information or they will." Going up to her tail he sliced deep into it with his sword and poured a liquid into the wound that would make it feel as if it was burning hotter than molten steel. Going back to her head he kicked her as hard as he could in the snout to make her nose bleed. But to make things even more... inessential that you tell me the truth and what you need." Using magic he dove into her to try and grab the seal. It was difficult, and he had to use some of his own mage's powers to take it, but he did fight with it to steal it from her. Any pain he had he sent directly to her. Finally after several grueling moments he tore it from her, "You will have this back after I get my information. If it is a lie you will not get this back. Of, just another thing, if you do lie I will hunt your rider down and make you watch me kill him." With that Galedrim left the wagon to let Jia think. Savania glanced around Eris to see what was ahead and in front of her, he did the same. After a moment she replied to him, "I can see the desert in the distance, we are over scrublands. I think there's a huge camp a ways in the distance. It is likely Galedrim's." Eris nodded, "I can make it out too. We are almost there. Zeke, when we get closer there is a large shrub covering about thirty degrees to your right. Land bhind them, its large enough to secure our presence for now." Eris sent a mental picture to Zeke's mind of where to go and with instructions on how to get there. As he did so Savania continued to stare ahead. There was something she didn't like about this. When he was almost right above the scrubs that Eris had shown him, he prepared to dive. Hold on. he murmured to his two Rider's, then silently pulled in his wings and dropped. It went quickly, to his satisfaction. He unfurled his wings and alighted with the gentlest of thuds on the earth. He crouched low, just to make sure he was hidden behind the shrubs. She's alone now. Galedrim took something from her...Don't worry, it wasn't her Heart. If he'd taken that from her I'd be in the camp by now and he'd be dead already. he spat. No, it was something with magic origins, like a Seal....Her Changing Seal! He tore it from her! - - - - - - - - - - Jia drew in a breath sharply and held it when he grabbed hold of her Changing Seal. She cried out involuntarily when he finally ripped it away from her. It felt like he'd ripped out a physical piece of her body. She gasped for breath when he was gone, panting from the pain. Then she snorted lightly. Right. Like Galedrim could take on a Reaper, and a Reapric Prince at that, on his own. Not to mention that Rathon would probably be traveling with Ka now, so there was two Reapers, both Princes. She didn't have to worry about her Rider. He could take care of himself. But her family...She exhaled softly and completely relaxed her body in defeat. She had to protect her family. She hoped Sarai was safe with Ka. She reached her mind out to brush against Galedrim's. I've decided. What do you want to know? I can answer you better if I have a specific question. she croaked tiredly. She was so beaten over that she didn't feel her brother through her Heart Touch getting closer to her position. - - - - - - - - - - Zeke's eyes went wide. No. he said in anguish. She's giving up. They can be drawn manually, but Reapric Runes are needed, as well as a basic knowledge of the Seven basic Seals. Without that, trying to use a Seal with absolutely no experience is nearly as dangerous as using magic without the Ancient Language, if not even more so. It does make since though is likely using them more on the Varden." When she said that you needed experience to use the seal he said, "I see, than you will tell me how, but first. And if you do not, you will never see this seal again." He was going to have her turn into a human to help show him, but the soldiers around Jia in the mood they were, he didn't think that would be the best idea. Though he wanted her broken, there were still things he considered inappropriate. "Oh, and one more thing Jia. Your brother Zeke, what is the best way to break him." Truthfully he didn't care about having Zeke, it was his mate he wanted. Savania was powerful, and he knew the best way to get to her was through Zeke. "Oh, and if you chose not to answer, I will force you to change into human form and leave you at the mercy of my mind controlled and un mind controlled soldiers." When the other two left, Eris snuck into the camp. Heading up to a few guards they stared at him surprised, "General? I thought you were interrogating the prisoner?" "I have other things to do soldier. Now, what did you do with the captives? Other than Jia?" "The hatchling is the only one alive left on your orders. It's near the west side of the camp chained in a cage waiting to be shipped off to Lord Crimson." Eris held in a snarl. He was hoping to free the others also, but he knew they would have likely been killed. At once he eft to where the hatchling was. Savania stuck close to Zeke when he turned them invisible. Knowing he would likely be able to tell where Jia was, he followed him through the camp. She looked around and shivered. There were so many soldiers, a couple thousand at least. At least there didn't seem to be any terra birds. Glancing around she was surprised to see a fire, she looked away as soon as she saw what was in it, roasting human bodies along with the corpses of dragons all skinned for their scales. I'll take him while you go for unchaining Jia, alright? he said absently before turning back. He counted to ten, then released the invisibility spell and launched into the tent. Snarling he gripped Zeke's arm, "So you came aye? Earlier than I thought, ah well, I guess I can wait on what I was going to do next." Saying the word's in magic he blasted Zeke off of him. Glancing over, he saw Savania run towards Jia. "Attack!" he ordered and several soldiers stormed into the wagon. "Do you really think you can defeat me Zeke?" Glancing at Jia he said, "I'll let her go Zeke if you give me your seal. Savania can't defeat all of them." he pulled out his sword and attacked Zeke. Running towards Jia, Savania put out her hand to crack the chains. Something struck her across the back and she collapsed to the ground. A large man stood over her with his fists out. She didn't see any armor or weapons on him so when he went to grab her he kicked him in the crotch. As he feel over she leapt up and bathed him with silver fire, "Come! Fight me you cowards!" As one man went towards her she twisted her hand and his armor imploded making blood stream everywhere. Magical bonds fell around Galedrim, holding him in place. Then he did what he'd only done once before. His eyes blazed with light, and beams of penetrating power riveted on his chest as he reached into Galedrim's Soul. He made it as painful as he possibly could, like he had with Leurgan. He wouldn't destroy Galedrim as he had the Beast. That had been a one time thing. But he could make the elf feel like he was going through hell itself. And it was inescapable, because his Soul Reading powers targeted the Soul directly,"I tend to think I can." he hissed venomously. He couldn't risk looking away, but he called out to his mate. Savania, do you need back-up? he asked quickly. - - - - - - - - - - Jia's head jerked straight up in utter shock as her brother launched into the tent in human form. Bad move. Currents of electricity scorched through her, harsher than before, which also made the acidic stone burn sharper, making her scream in pain. She hadn't meant to. It just slipped out. Her body slumped to the ground, completely still. The only sign of life was Jia's moving chest, which signified that she was still breathing. In the Ancient Language he shouted, "Release me!" several of his soldiers dropped dead from the magic drain, but he managed to blast Zeke off him with magic. "Distract him!" he ordered. Several of his soldiers charged Zeke and Galedrim walked towards Jia, "I think it's time say goodbye to your brother." Placing the seal on her, he made magic flow into it. It took several of his soldier's lives before he figured out how to force her to turn back to her human form. When he figured out how, he forced it into her and used the magic to make her transform. When complete, he ripped it out her again. "I'm fine!" Savania called back to Zeke, jumping away as a man swung at her with his sword. Quickly making the metal shatter she ran over towards Jia. Not thinking of the soldier's around her she jetted out her palms and the chains around Jia shattered. To her horror, she saw Jia turn into a human. "No, let her go!" Savania ran at Galedrim but collapsed as a man struck her in the head with the flat of his sword. Before she could use her magic he threw the sword to the side and stepped on her stomach, "If you breath fire, I will crush you." he snarled. Savania smirked and glanced at Zeke, but didn't want to distract him from his goal, "Why do you fight for Galedrim and Crimson?" she asked, trying to think of something as she spoke. "Shut up wench!" he shouted, striking her across the face with the back of his hand, Savania couldn't help but give a yelp of pain. Jumping to the side, Eris ducked as a sword went inches over his head. Snarling, he leapt into the air and kicked the sword away. Before the man could attack again he shouted in the Ancient Language, "Burst into flames!" as the soldier combusted, Eris went to another man, and shoved him to the ground ripping out his sword, "Where is Jia, the dragoness you captured and your monster of a general called Galedrim or and while you're at it tell me where Crimson is also." The man stared at him for a momet, "Why would I tell you?" "Do you want to die?" "I welcome death." the man replied. Glancing over he smirked, "If you must know, they are in the wagon not to far away from her. Lord Crimson? He's still at the Spine, I think he's planning some attack on some invaders or possibly the empire's northern lands." "I see, thanks' for the information." Eris used magic to bind up the man taking from his own strength and left first to the hatchling. Freeing it he said, "Fly far away, very far away." Opining up his mind he showed the hatchling both the Varden's and Resistance's headquarters, "Go there for safety. Those their will help you." The dragon nodded with terror still and quickly flew off. In the Ancient Language Eris said, "Good luck." But seeing his sister being forced into her human form, and how still she laid on the ground, and then the soldier, striking his mate across the face, his rage exploded. He riveted the beams from his eyes onto the soldier that held down Savania. With a snarl of savage hatred, he reached into the soldier and twisted his soul harshly, penetrating it in every direction. The man screamed in mortal agony and fell to the ground, writhing uncontrollably in an attempt to escape the indescribable pain that wrenched at him from the inside. He was soon dead. This took only a few moments. The amethyst lashed out with a leg to trip up two of the six soldiers that had come for him. As they went down he wrapped his arms around their necks and twisted sharply, snapping their spines like twigs. He battled the rest in somewhat the same manner, receiving a few cuts, gashes, and bruises in the process. When he'd finished all six were dead. He was breathing heavily, sweat soaking his neck, chest, back, and forehead. Zeke took a deep breath, then rumbled a bestial growl in his chest and turned his eyebeams onto Galedrim. He reached for the elf's Soul, grabbed it in a hard grip with his powers, and twisted it sharply, like he'd done for the first soldier,"Return the Seal and Change her back, or I'll kill you like I did him and do it myself." he threatened. His voice was low and dark. - - - - - - - - - - Jia gasped in pain and arched her back, her mouth open in a silent shriek. When the Change was complete and the Seal had been ripped away, her body jerked once more, then went utterly still. The wounds dealt to her in draconic form look twice as horrid on her humanoid body. Her eyes fluttered weakly, and her hand reached toward a blur at the edge of her vision,"Sav..ania," she croaked. Her voice was barely above a whisper. She tried to move, but her ripped and bloodied clothes hindered her to the point of pain. Finally she stopped trying to get up and just laid there. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Thought it greatly pained him, he forced himself out of his own mind and blasted Zeke back into the wall. Glancing over he saw Jia badly injured, "Kill both of them!" he ordered. As his soldiers were about to do so, Savania managed to stand up and shouted, "NO!" Already the soldiers near both Zeke and Jia stared at her. Glancing at Jia, tears begun to stream down her face at her appearance and when she tried to speak. One of them struck Zeke over the head and stabbed him in the side to not kill him, but simply weaken him so he couldn't do his soul attack. "Oh," Galedrim said, walking towards Savania who snarled at him, readying to use her own magic, "And why shouldn't I?" Staring at him, Savania held back a look of fear, "I'll," she paused, forcing fear to now show, "I'll let you take me prisoner if you free them, and give Jia back her seal." Galedrim stared at her, his mouth almost fell open with surprise. Glancing at her he said, "How will I know they won't attack me once they turn back to dragons?" "Because," Savania said she stared around glancing at Zeke and Jia, "Zeke... you know us three can't make it out of this camp alive. Who know's where Eris and the Alfin are. You must listen to me, we are too small of numbers, I can tell this by now. Let them have me, they won't kill me. Crimson wants dragons alive." Galedrim smirked, "You have my word if I have yours. Oh, if you are wondering about your Alfin friends, they ran into some of my guard on their way. When I caught Jia, I expected others to come." Running towards the wagon, Eris blasted a few soldiers out of they way. At once he went to the cabin and shot open the door with fire, "Galedrim!" he shouted. "Oh, hello brother." Galedrim said nastily to him. Eris' eye's wderend at what he saw. Zeke was against the wall, and Jia severely injured on the ground. "Let them go Galedrim!" Smirking Galedrim replied, "If I could defeat a dragon in human form what makes you think-" "Silence traitor!" Eris shouted, he begun to lunge at him when Savania shouted. "Eris no!" Halting, Eris glanced at her. "Eris, the Alfin were attacked by soldiers Galedirm sent out to counter any that tried to rescue Jia. They won't arrive for some time and if they do, we may be dead by then. Us four can't escape this place alive. I'm... I'm giving myself to Galedrim so you all can get out alive." The light streaming from his eyes was broken and darkened when he was blasted into the wall. He tried to get up. He couldn't falter now. Galedrim's order to kill burned in his ears. But he paused when he heard his mate shout one word "No!". And everything sort of slowed down. Before he could gather his wits, he was slammed in the head and stabbed in the side. His knees buckled, and the only thing holding him up was the two soldiers gripping his arms. His head shot up when Savania surrendered herself. He opened his mouth to argue, but she cut him off. He was shaking his head before she finished,"No, Savania, no." he whispered. He bunched his muscles to fight his way free, but two more stabs, one in each thigh, had him gasping in pain. He was shaking his head still, but the motion was weaker,"Please, Sava, love." he murmured, tears spilling from his eyes in streams as he spoke his nickname of her. He couldn't lose her. It would physically hurt him more than he could stand. He looked at Galedrim, desperation in the depths of his ice blue eyes,"Anything. I'll do anything for her." he choked. - - - - - - - - - - Jia cringed at the sounds of shouting, wanting to cover her ears. She opened her eyes a crack, then they flew wide in anguish. She forced herself up onto her hands and knees, winced and flinching the whole while,"Zeke, no." she croaked, looking up. One of her eyes was swollen shut, there was a bleeding gash across her forehead, and her nose looked like it might be broken. She grit her teeth and pushed herself to her feet, swaying unsteadily. She caught the edge of something to steady herself. She found out what it was when it swore once,"Git off, filthy wench!" and the soldier struck her hard across the cheek. Unsure of what to do he unknowingly dropped his sword which Galedrim quickly grabbed before he had a chance to take it, "Galedrim... let them go please. You can kill me! I'll let you kill me if you let them go!" "No Eris!" Savania shouted. "Savania, please, you all have to escape-" "No! Eris, please. Galedrim, Crimson want's a dragon right?" Galedrim nodded with pleasure. When Zeke said he'd do anything Galedrim laughed, "Oh Zeke, Crimson doesn't want a worthless blind dragon!" "Don't call my mate worthless!" Savania shouted. She charged him, but a soldier tripped her and she feel to the ground. Glancing at Zeke she managed to stand up. With tears pouring from her eyes she stared at Zeke, saying to him through mind, I have to go with them Zeke. You know more than I do. You may be strong, but they'll find a way to break you like they did Jia. I don't know as much about your plans and I know little of Equinox's plans. Please... let me do this so you, Jia, and Eris can escape. Doubting Zeke would listen unless the choice was forced onto him Savania walked to the soldiers wiping a tear away from her silver eyes, "Take me. I'll go with you." "How do we know you won't attack us or transform?" one asked. In the Ancient Language she said, "I will not attack you, nor will I transform back into a dragon before you can inject me with the serum and after Jia, Zeke, and Eris escape." "Good," Crimson grinned. To his soldiers he ordered, "take her!" Savania felt as one man grabbed her around her waist. She had to fight back the instinct to attack him, "Zeke, Jia, Eris goodbye. I love you Zeke." she said as the soldier carried her away. Once Savania was taken out Galedrim said, "Good, now, I'll spare Savania's life if you all leave peacefully. I'll give Jia back her seal if you swear in the Ancient Language not to transform and attack me right now. Besides, I think we all know you'd lose." He continued to shake his head, urgency and pain building in his eyes. He leaned away from his captors, vainly trying to break free as his mate, the very reason he existed, walked away from him and toward a future that would surely take her away from him forever. His body was shaking, quivering, almost vibrating. Tears streamed down his cheeks while silent sobs shook him. Savania, his dearest Savania, was being taken from him. From their children. He barely had the control to mouth "I love you too" in reply. His throat was closing with the sobs. His ice blue eyes never left her until she was out of sight, and then crushing loneliness swept over him. He couldn't even truly describe how he felt. Devastated was the best option. His thighs throbbed with pain from the stab wounds, but he forced his legs to take his weight. He glared death at each of his captors, who released him almost instantly. He stood up tall, and was a bit surprised that he towered over Galedrim by almost a whole foot. He leaned down into the ex-Rider's face, ice blue eyes blazing with anger and a deep seated loss that threatened to swallow him whole,"I will leave." he promised in the language of Power, binding him to his word. Then he added,"But I will follow. Savania is my mate and I'll be damned if any harm comes to her. I took an oath in the Draconic Tongue to love and protect her to the end of my days." he leaned down further, almost nose to nose with the beast of a man,"If I hear the faintest whisper of a rumor that you hurt her in any way before you deliver her, I will hunt you down and shred your Soul apart so you will never have peace in the Void." he snarled. Then he purposefully turned on his heel and went to his sister, kneeling beside her. He checked her pulse, then lifted her into his arms and against his chest. He stiffly returned to Galedrim, ice blue eyes still gleaming murder in their depths and as penetrating as chips of sharpened flint,"Return the Seal." he hissed angrily. Taking the seal he threw it to Zeke and Jia. Glancing at Eris he said, "Now get them out of here. The lead officer of the attack said to Alfin devastated his soldiers, but they are returning to the shrub area where the other four dragons are. And yes Eris, I knew about that. Now get going, all three of you." "What about Savania?" Eris demanded, "When will we get her back?" "You will, eventually." Galedrim replied. Eris glared at him, but didn't do anything. Trying to keep his face calm he went over to Zeke and Jia, "Are you sure you still have enough strength to carry her? I will if you need to." he said, though already leading them out the wagon. As they begun to leave Galedrim laughed at them and waited for all three to be gone. "General, your orders, the dragoness?" "Wait until we here from Lord Crimson. Have those with her htough give her the sermon so she can't use magic and take her seal." "Yes sir." Savania struggled to get free, at least she wanted to walk on her own, she'd keep her promise to stay with them for Zeke, Jia, and Eris' sakes. Even so, these fool soldiers didn't even trust her to walk on her own! When they reached what seemed like a large tent thre threw her into it. "Stay still," a man ordered pulling out a large needle. Savania flinched at first, it wouldn't hurt in dragon form, but human skin was a lot softer than dragon scales. Savania gave a yelp as the man stuck the needle in her arm, and felt as her ability to use magic drained. Knowing that she had sworn only to remain in human form until the serom was in her, she went to transform, but was surprised when one of the humans pinned her to the bed, "Get the seal from her." Snarling to herself, Savania held in a yell of pain as a mage dove into her and extracted the seal from her. Glancing up she snarled, "What are you going to do? Crimson want's a dragon, not a human." Making threats now did nothing, except for possibly making the travel more painful for his mate. So he just ignored Galedrim until they had permission to leave, when he spun on his heel and marched out the door,"I've got her." he almost snapped at Eris. He felt bad instantly, but he just didn't have it in him to apologize. As he walked away he heard Galedrim giving orders for Savania, and he plucked the phrase "take her Seal" out of it. His teeth clenched. That would cause pain. He'd be in the right to attack, as he'd sworn he would, but, looking down at the fragile, broken girl in his arms, he knew he couldn't. Jia needed help. His hand clamped down around Jia's arm reflexively as he resisted the urge to drop her, find his mate, and shield her from any pain. She whimpered softly in response. He loosened his grip instantly, burying his face in his sister's hair,"Hush, precious one, hush. Your safe now." he murmured into her ear, holding her closer to his chest so she felt secure. He glanced at Jia, he understand why Zeke snapped at him so he wasn't offended. Once they were out of the camp he said, "I can heal her wounds Zeke." Glancing at Jia he did mutter a few words to at least clog up her wounds. Even so, he wasn't the best healer of external wounds and he knew there were no ways to heal the once inside. Opinig his mind to the Alfin, Tel, Anir, Quasar, Zeuk, Incendia and Maragohn he said, Maraghon lead everyone away from the camp. The rest of us will meet you. With his mind he showed the Alfin just where to go. What happened Eris? I can tell something didn't go well. Maragohn asked. Will explain it once we arrive. When he left communication he glanced at Zeke. It was mostly his to tell since it involved him more, but he would tell the others what happened if Zeke didn't want to. Even so, he couldn't bare to bring it up. "Galedrim... you will die for what you have done." he snarled to himself. When the seal was taken out of her, Savania gasped in pain but when it was over, she made it a snarl at the humans. "So, what do you want? You might as well leave cause you're not getting any information from me." "Shut up!" the man shouted and struck Savania across the face. Growling she replied, "Didn't you mommy and daddy teach you it was bad to hit ladies? Now don't look at me like that, you shut up!" This time the man punched her in the face, but Savania only snarled at him, "I suppose I have time to talk. What do want to talk about?" Savania replied, trying to make it seem as if it was on her terms. "We do not speak to you until we here from the general of Lord Crimson wench." Truly he was grateful to the twoleg, but it was hard to be grateful for anything with his mate taken from him. He felt a twinge in his chest, where his heart was. It felt like something was squeezing his heart in a choke hold. He bit his lip to collect himself, then looked up. His four children were waiting for him anxiously. He saw Anir's expression cycle from worried, to alarmed, and finally to panic. He tried not to notice too much. He walked behind the shrub and kneeled down, gently lowering his sister to the ground. An enraged hiss from Tel made him look up slightly. Anir must have shown him an image. He brushed some hair from her forehead, then leaned back a bit and set his hands over her stomach, hovering them a few inches from the skin. He closed his eyes and began to murmur, his eyebrows coming together as he attempted to heal the worst of her wounds. It was a bit later that he felt Jia stir, and he opened his eyes to look down into the deep teal pools of her gaze. - - - - - - - - - - Jia opened her eyes to find herself out of the camp and on the ground with her brother hovering above her. She reached out a single hand and touched his cheek,"Zeke," she croaked weakly. He hushed her gently, stroking her hair,"Sh, precious one, hush. She forced herself to sit up even as he went forward onto his knees. She pulled him close, cradling his head in the crook of her neck. Silent tears coursed down his face, staining her tunic. Her own tears flowed from her eyes and dripped into his hair. She rubbed his back, crooning tenderly, trying to comfort him. She looked up at Eris, the expression in her eyes filled with sorrow. Tell them for him, please? He wanted to comfort her somehow, but couldn't find away. Both Quasar and Zeuk looked around with alarm and worry for their mother while Incendia stared on with worry in her eyes, "Well," Eris begun with a croak, "when we went into the camp... they had Jia chained up to a wagon they stole from the nomads. I'm not sure exactly what Galedrim and the soldiers with him did, but they tortured her and took out her seal. We... we did manage to free her, but both Zeke and Jia were injured and Savania was down. When I entered their were too many soldier's for me to do anything to try and help them. So," he forced the tears in his eyes to stay in, "Savania gave herself to them so we could escape. JIa was freed and they gave back her seal, but Savania stayed there as their captive." The Alfin stared at him with shock and sorrow. He could understand why, since they were distracted when they were supposed to enter. Quasar begin to cry quietly and Zeuk simply stared with shock and horror in his eyes, a few tears trickled down the young dragon's cheek. How... how are we going to free her? Incendia crooked. Eris shook his head, unsure of what to say. Knowing he had to say something he replied, "We'll find a way." though he knew it wasn't very convincing. He had never done a rescue operation other than when they just freed Jia, and that didn't turn out too well. "General, here's the seal." a soldier said, handing it over to Galedrim. Smirking, Galedrim lifted it up and told hte soldier to go away. He had know plans on transforming, but he had to give this to Crimson. Opining his mind he reached to the Spine where he finally met Crimon's mind. It was a trick Crimson taught him to use. What is it Galedrim! Crimson snapped. We have a dragon sir just as you ordered. Also, it's one of hte ones we were after, we met her during the battle in the Spine, Savania. Galedrim paused, waiting for Crimson to speak but the silence and anticipation on Crimson's side told him to continue, Not only that, but we have a sort of... seal. You know, like Ephidel's magic seal? Unlike being able to block out magic, this one can make whoever has it transform into whatever they want. As he expected, Crimson sounded pleased, You have done well Galedrim. I would ask for specifics but I don't have time for that. Send me the seal And as for Savania, do you have plans to get her to me? he said doubtfully. It would be hard to move a large dragon across the empire. Actually sir, she was in her human form when he took the seal from her so she can't turn into a dragon- She's in her human form? Crimson snapped. When Galedrim replied yes he gave a smile from his end, Good... very good. Since hse is a dragon but in the body of a human this could work out. You should know about draconians from when you were still with Eris and Quasar? You met them on an island of the coast yes? I did. Galedrim replied. His eyes widened with wonder. Using all his concentration on Crimson's voice, Galedrim wanted to know more. Why would he bring that up? That was years ago. Unless... no, it couldn't be. They are a dying breed as you know, not many are left. Back in ancient times they were known as half dragons if I remember correctly. Have some of the soldier... mate with her. You can't be serious! Crimson, that's not how I opperate! Galedrim shouted. You will do as your superior says Galedrim! Crimson snapped, It doesn't have to be you, but I want a draconian. You know how I am when I don't get what I want? His words ended with a hiss. Slightly disturbed Galedrim replied, I'll get someone to do it. What about the seal? Good, very good. And as for the seal send it when you have the chance. With that Crimson left communication. Savania lay bruised and bleeding on the floor, but she refused to break. Even as she was struck with wooden planks and metal rods she refused to speak. Inside though she was a wreck. Calling out to her friends who she knew wouldn't come. Though she tried to stave back tears she knew it wouldn't happen. "Tell us what we want to know and we'll stop beating you." Savania glanced up her eyes swelled and face bleeding. Staring at them she sobbed, "I will not surrender." "Oh, but you will," a soldier replied and kicked her in the chest making her crash into the ground, "Mages! Get into her mind! Pull up every bad memory she's ever had an intesify it!" "Yes sir." Savania tried to block the images with her mind, but she was too weak to resist. At once the memory and images of her mother dying, of her Dsurion's betrayol, and all the other bad memories flooded into her mind, "Zeke, Jia, Eris... please be as far away as you can." Savania said quietly through the pain. The sound of one of his children crying. It was Quasar. He looked up. He could see. But for once, he wished he was blind. He didn't want to see the looks of horror and loss on the faces of his children. He squeezed Jia gently, then pulled away and touched the Seal. The light flashed, and he was a dragon again, dressed in amethyst scales. He also was unable to see again. He didn't care at the moment. He padded to Quasar and crouched by her, pulling her toward him until she was pressed against his front. Anir and Tel joined, pressing their faces into his chest, silent draconic tears coursing down their cheeks. Zeke pulled Zeuk closer as well, until all four of his children were standing in a small huddle. He heard Jia get up as a human, but when she moved he knew that she'd Changed to her dragon form. The amethyst glanced up at Eris and Incendia, motioning them closer as well. He felt Jia press against his side, and he extended a wing to envelope her in its warmth. He nuzzled each of his children comfortingly, though he felt no better than they did, tenderly licking the tears from their scaled faces. We will get her back. he assured them all. His voice was tight and low with anguish. He looked up back in the direction of the camp. Through his mate bond with Savania, he could feel her vaguely around the center of the camp, where it would be hardest to reach her. Pain was stabbing at him slightly from the connection, though he assumed it was the pain of leaving him and their four hatchlings. When he looked back on this time in later years, he would swear that it was a good thing that he hadn't known his mate was being tortured. Every single being in the camp would have been dead in a matter of seconds. He would also reflect that it was a good thing he hadn't known Crimson's plans for his mate. Though he wasn't a dragon like the rest Eris felt their pain and like them all, he mourned with them for Savania. Quasar huddled up against her father and Zeuk stayed close to him with watery eyes. Incedia glanced back toward the camp with sorrow. Eris didn't trust himself to speak. Glaring in the direction of the camp he silently cursed Galedrim and all those in it Staring at the ground, he leaned against Incendia for support and comfort. His eyes were oddly hardened in anry but wet and moist with sorry, worry, and fear. Glancing around at the others he nearly collapsed to the ground feeling it was his fault. If only I would have been faster. As he cursed himself in his own head, he didn't let any of the others hear. Around them the Alfin stood in a protective cirle, not letting anyone or anything b other those they were to keep safe. Savania forced herself to stay conscious through the beatings. Staring in horror she gasped as small needles were driven down her back. "I... will not surrender..." she gasped, Flinching as one of the men grabbed the whip, the entrance to the tent flew open. "Captain, the general gave us orders from Lord Crimson. We are to... mate with her." One of them laughed, "Well she is in human form. Besides, she won't give us any answers..." the man looked with lust towards Savania who shivered. Going over to her, he forced her chin up and stared into her silver eyes, "Listen wench, If you do not give us the answers, we will do what Lord Crimson had done to your worthless mother!" Savania shivered with fear and hate, "No!" she shouted but gasped in pain as the man wrapped his arm around her stomach and forced her to the ground. "Andrews, I'm a captain to I should get-" "No!" Andrews snarled, "She's all mine, if she doesn't answer the questions. The rest of you get out!" as he snarled they glanced at each other and sloly walked out. Savania shivered. "What are you going to do to me?" she asked nervously. "Nothing if you give me the answers I needed." Andrews pinned her to the ground as her eyes widened, "Tell me everything you know about the resistance, about Galbatorix, and Zeke." "I won't betray Equinox or Zeke..." she whispered. "Wrong answer." "Fine!" Savania shrieked, "The... the resistance is... mounting for an attack." Andrews laughed, "I suspected as much. What are their plans though dragoness? Tell me!" he snapped angrily. Savania shook her head, but as Andrews pulled her against him she screamed, "The Spine! They are mounting a massive double invasion of the Spine and the area of the Hadarac Desert Crimson controls." Savania begun to cry both of what had happened to her, and that she was betraying her own friends, "They... they were going to attack there. They... they are also trying to free the mind slaves." he nodded, wanting more and Savania continued on, hating herself even more, "Galbatorix... I don't know much about him, the Resistance doesn't focus as much on him. But, I know he plans to try to push the Varden out of his lands. As for his forces, I do not know other than that Thorn and Shrukan are still fine." She shook her head about answers about Zeke. "And you're mate?" "I- I" Savania shrieked as he struck her to the ground and he towered above her. Sobbing, Savania cried, "He's... he and the rest of his family is preparing for war. I'm not sure against who or what exactly, but they are. Some kind of creature I think. I don't know too much about it." At once she begun to tell him every bit of information she knew of what Zeke's plans were even more of some of the Resistance and every second she begun to hate herself more. Zeke... forgive me... she said to herself. Once she was done speaking, she glanced up miserably at Andrews, "There... I'm done." "Good," he said with a cruel smile and stared down at her with lust, "Now time for some fun." As he went down, Savania gave an ear splitting scream. OOC: This is after Uncharted Lands right? Isabella had been doing her routine checks through the Empire, checking for bands of the Kings forces and watching their moves. She noticed a particularly large group of maybe ten to fifteen scouters headed towards a seemingly targeted area. Nirexi, can you see those soldiers? She moved her hand in their direction towards her right. No, I can't. He said sarcastically, Of course I can see them Iz! He retorted grumpily. He hadnt been in a good mood all day after she'd gotten onto him about picking on Scout. The young falcon was actually currently riding on Nirexi's head, basting in his contentment. Iz felt a soft furry tail wrap around her ankle and looked back at the panther riding behind her. Iz, dont listen to Nirexi, he's just snippy. Maybe we should follow those soldiers to see if the entertainment will calm him down. Iz nodded at Raill and gently spoke, "Nirexi lets follow them, like Raill says." She felt his wings flex as he gently curved to follow their path, "Try to stay in cloud cover, we dont want to be seen just yet." She gave a short whistle and crooned Scout over to her arm, "Hey Scout, can you fly down closer to the soldiers and hear what their saying?" The bird gave a shook his wings in a yes and took flight cutting down through the wind and toward the group. Iz wasnt sure how long it was but soon Scout soared back and landed on her shoulder, twittering away. Scout rarely ever spoke through the mind, claiming the words didnt work in his head, however he used Raill as a translator, Scout says their headed toward a camp that has supposedly captured a dragon, and a member of the resistance at that. I wonder... should we follow and try to help the dragon? Scout says that the commander of the troupe was saying that some figures in the resistance are still hanging around. Iz nodded her head, "Yeah, we should go and check it out. Is it okay by you Nirexi?" She ran her hand over the side of his scales, feeling his back arch slightly, making Raill hiss quietly. Of course Iz. We cannot let anyone whose sided with the Empire get away with another murder of a dragon. He sped up his speed as soon as she agreed. It wasn't more than an hour when they began to see a vast group and from the air, just farther, the camp. The group looked like strange snakes, but Isabella could see dragons and what looked like a human. "Nirexi, head down. But try not to seem aggressive, we dont want them to think we're attacking." He gently glid downward until he landed about twenty to thirty feet away. They didnt approach anymore, sure that the group could see them and could approach them whenever they wanted. Lets hope we dont regret this, Iz. Rail quietly murmered in her mind. Through his mate bond with Savania, he abruptly felt her fear. It was powerful and bitter. He stilled, listening and feeling carefully. It climbed gradually from mere fear to full out terror. He glanced at his children, then extended a line of thought to Eris and Incendia, speaking to them privately so he didn't alarm Zeuk, Anir, Tel, or Quasar. Somethings wrong. Savania is scared. he murmured quietly, glancing anxiously toward the camp. Suddenly an ear splitting scream shattered the otherwise silent air. His head shot straight up. He felt Jia stiffen against him. Savania! he shouted. Anger began to gradually cloud his vision. He only knew of one thing that would make her scream like that. His wings were spreading of their own accord, but weight across his back stopped him. He whipped his head around, teeth bared, only to find his eldest daughter pinning his wings down. Dad, no! If you go you'll be taken prisoner too! she cried, her silver eyes wide with fear. Eyes just like her mothers. He covered his teeth and nuzzled her reassuringly. She rubbed his jaw with her cheek. I must. Get off. I'll be fine. he soothed, though how he managed to sound calm he didn't know. He looked directly at Eris. I will not let my mate suffer what her mother did. he said to the Rider privately. He knew that Eris would understand what he was saying. He rose his wings from his back, preparing to launch toward his mate. He gazed at Maragohn, the lead Alfin, shifted his gaze briefly to his four children, then leveled it back on the Alfin leader. Protect them. he said quietly, speaking to only Maragohn. Then he looked up and jumped into the air. Savania, love, I'm coming. Fight him off until I get there. Hold on, little heart. he called to his mate through their bond. Being blind, he didn't see the Dragon, Rider, falcon, and panther that had landed thirty or see feet from the camp. Even if he had seen them, he wouldn't have cared. OOC: Yay! And this would probably be before. Saint_Virtue is planning on doing a huge war thing (that's what Jia was talking about, by the family preparing for war (I'll give you more info in a pm if you like)) and we still are having some trouble pinning down exactly when it will be. He shivered though at the thought, Savania... Quasar... he couldn't let this happen. He glanced around at Jia, Zeke and Savania's children, and Incendia, "I'm going with him. He's going to get himself killed!" "No!" Maragohn shouted. "What?" He shook his head, "You mustn't Eris. What will happen is meant to happen. You can't change this Eris, if you do, things in the distance future will go wrong-" Cutting Maragohn off Eris shouted, "I don't give a damn about your damned prophecies!" Shoving past Maragohn he saw the Alfin reached towards him when he pulled out an iron shard, "You know I won't attack you Maragohn, I know hard to make your kind tremble." At once Maragohn smirked, "Do as you wish Eris after this point there is no turning back. There are several key events that will affect the way the future plays out. This is one of them. Don't go after him." "You expect me to stay behind as their father goes out and will likely get himself killed by my twisted brother!" Eris! Eris turned back to see Jia, Quasar, Zeuk, Anir, and Tel. Both Quasar and Zeuk stared at him with horror and worry and Quasar was again close to tears, "I'm sorry... I didn't mean that... I just." he shook his head and went over to them, "You're mother and father will be alright." Eris... do you really think they'll die. Quasar replied mournfully. "No," Eris replied. Though he wasn't sure. Though Incendia's glare was still on him, he shoved past the Alfin who only stared at him with worry. Fuming with anger at Maragohn and Galedrim, and missed with worry, shame, fear, regret, and outrage, Eris accidently stumbled upon a small camp almost running into a dragon's leg. "Sorry..." he quickly grabbed his sword but sheathed it. His mind was playing tricks on him, at first he thought hte dragon was Shruikan, "Who are you?" he demanded to all of them, though he said it with more anger than he meant. Savania shivered and jammed her eyes closed, trying to keep the thought of what was happining to her out of her head. Tears streamed for face as she cringed with terror. Sobbing she said to herself, Zeke where are you? For all she knew he or someone else could hve tried speaking with him, but her mind was blocked off by a solid wall of fear. People in the Empire often mistook the two for Shruikan and Galbatorix. Though the dragons sizes were extremely different. "Sorry, I am Isabella and this is my dragon, Nirexi, along with our friends Scout, the raven, and Raill, the panther." she moved her arm to point to the two animals, "We've been following a group of soldiers who were making their way to that camp there," she glanced over to the camp, "We heard them saying that the Empire had caught a dragon allied with the resistance, so we hurried to help." she glanced down at Nirexi knowing he'd say something soon. We've been in the kings army before or rather... Under his control, but we were freed, and now offer any service we can. In our captivity we were known as The Kings Shadow , now the shadow wants to trip the being. Isabella moved her hand outward to rub Nirexi's side and quietly watched the man. "I'm sorry we came down so suddenly, I'm sure it's frightening to see an Empire- look a like, but we honestly want to help, and we're a kin to a secret weapon against Galbatorix." He barely heard his mates reply, and by what she said he wasn't sure if she'd even heard him the first time. He was above his mate now. Savania, love, I'm here. I'm coming, little heart. I'm coming. he called out, louder this time. To punctuate this, he roared angrily, and dove. He landed with a thunderous crash, collapsing several nearby tents. He bellowed amethyst flames around him in a circle to keep the other soldiers at bay for a while, then roared again and lunged into the tent that held Savania. He ripped it up from the ground, his sparkling angry ice blue eyes riveting on the man that hovered above his stripped mate. He knocked the man back, ripping him away from Savania savagely. He snarled at the man, hovering over his mate to hide her from view. That's my mate your violating, you disgusting excuse of a human. he hissed, opening his jaws to expose all of his dagger sharp teeth. He gingerly touched Savania's shoulder with the tip of his tail, aware that she was hurt from numerous wounds and not wanting to injure her further. After I take care of this Beklean, I will Change to dress you, then I will carry you away from here. he promised her gently. Beklean was a demeaning word for vile humans. He snarled again at the man and waited for his move. He had no chance against a dragon, regardless. - - - - - - - - - - Jia glanced after her brother, worry etched into the depths of her eyes. The soft sounds of her youngest Niece crying caught her attention, and she swung her head around. She padded to Quasar and extended a wing, to envelop her in its warm, and pulled the copper-silver close, tucking her neatly under her wing like a mother falcon would for her chicks. Hush, little one. Zeke and Savania will be fine. she soothed, purring gently in her throat to help comfort the young dragoness. She glanced up and Maragohn, intrigued by his words. What did you mean by that? Before, when you were trying to stop Eris. She was barely able to move, but didn't dare try to edge close to anyone. Barily above a whisper she uttered, "Zeke... I'm sorry..." Glancing over she saw Andrews back up. She didn't have to strength to do anything about him, she simply stared at Zeke. Smirking Andrews replied while gripping his sword, "Now let us settle this dragon. You see, it's not as if I did anything bad. She is only a prisoner." Taking his sword, he charged at Zeke, knowing it likely wouldn't work out to well he targeted Savania to try and kill her. Eris listened to what Isabella and Nirexi said. When they finished talking he glanced at them for a moment, "Sorry I sounded angry, something bad happened to one of my friends." Shaking his head to get his mind off of things and onto these newcomers he said, "Ah don't worry about it, I've seen worse than Galbatorix or his over sized lizard." Glancing at the two he said, "How has the war against the empire been going anyway? I haven't been informed with the Varden as much as the resistance." shaking his head he added, "I apologize, if you escaped Galbatorix's clutches you probably don't even know what the Resistance is. We fight both Galbaotrix and Crimson. You'll have to speak to Equinox more about it, he's its unwilling leader." Glancing at Jia Maraghon replied Either way Zeke will live. But if Eris goes out he will meet four others, a dragon and rider, a panther, and a falcon. He likely has done that already. They will go to help Zeke which will cause even more trouble than if Eris didn't go to try and help. No one will die, none more will be captured, but by Eris trying to helping Zeke, he will unknowingly set the path for the collapse of Surda still yet years in the future. As I mentioned to him, there are several key events that will affect something many years in the future, this is one of them. Quasar leaned against her aunt as she put a wing over her for comfort. His head snapped around to the man, amethyst flames licking at his teeth. Oh, violating a female against her will isn't bad in your books? And she is not just any prisoner. he hissed. She's my mate. he snarled. His eyes blazed with anger as the man attacked, aiming for Savania. He roared and knocked him back with one swat of his paw, catching the blade of the sword on the underside of his paw. He peeled back his lips and opened his jaws. Purple fire spewed forth and enveloped the man in a withering inferno of heat, killing almost instantly. He closed his maw, then touched the Seal and Changed to human. He immediately knelt over his mate, looking her over for any life threatening injuries. He hissed angrily under his breath, muttering a stream of profanities, most of them directing at Galedrim and his sick lord, Crimson. Though a few were directed at himself. He caressed her face, wiping away the tears with his thumb,"Relax, little heart. I'll take you from here." he murmured quietly. He dressed her in a simple tunic and trousers that he'd taken from his saddlebags, keeping it loose so it didn't rub against her wounds too badly. He knelt beside her and lifted her into his arms, cradling her close to his chest. His left palm throbbed painfully, making him wince, and he saw a crimson stain spreading on the sleeve of Savania's tunic. The sword cut he'd received in draconic form. He could heal it once he knew that his mate was completely safe. He pressed his lips to her forehead in the attempt to comfort her,"Hold on." he murmured, then looked up. The fire circle shield was still around them. He murmured a few words of power, controlling the fire so it would follow him. Then he was running, using the draconic muscle in his legs to propel him through camp. He was only slightly faster than an elf, but it was enough. He was out of the camp and half way back to the shrub cover in under ten minutes. He could already partially see the glitter of dragonhide. - - - - - - - - - - Jia merely nodded in response. Thank you. she sighed in relief. She shifted the wing that covered Quasar slightly, glancing down at her youngest Niece. Then her head came up sharply. Zeke was getting closer. He's coming back! Iz glared at her dragons head as he continued to rumble with little chuckles. "He's so lucky that I put up with his silly jokes," Isabella's eyes glanced backward as Raill's grip on her ankle tightened. Ask about this Crimson fellow, Iz. She nodded and shifted so she was more comfortable, leaning foreward in her saddle, "Who exactly is Crimson? I've not heard of him in any scouting expeditions." Then he saw Eris beside it, speaking to it and its Rider. He glanced down at his mate, slowing his pace to a clipped walk. He rested his cheek against her hair, his breath hitching painfully,"I shouldn't have left you." he murmured to her, squeezing his eyes shut. A tear fell down his jaw onto her face. He sniffed and cleared his throat, opening his eyes to find himself a few feet from Eris,"Eris, I need you. Ah well, anyway, Crimson my friend Equinox's ex evil rider. As what I mean by ex I'll tell you another time. Anyway, Crimson is leading a campaign of empire, he currently controls the Spine, northern Hadarac, and up to DuWeldenvarden. He forces people to serve him by taking control of his mind though several did join him voluntarily. He'll do anything to get what he wants, anything." Before he could continue Zeke came though the shrubs carrying Savania. Eris quickly turned around and nearly swore out loud. He would have, but didn't think it would do Savania any good if he did. When Zeke said for him to help her he went over and took her from Zeke gently, and laid her on the ground, "I'll heal you if you need me to Zeke once I'm done with her." Not paying attention to the others watching or Jia comeing in Eris placed his palm on Savania saying, "Waise heill." the several wounds on the outside of her body begun to heal, Savania gasped and cried out a few times as broken bones fixed themselves and as her wounds closed up. Savania cringed as Eris healed her. Glancing around at all of them she shivered when he finished. "Zeke... I'm sorry... I should have been stronger... I'm so sorry." she sniffed. Glancing up at Eris than to Jia and Zeke she closed her eyes to try and not let tears show, "They... they took the seal from me and sent it to Crimson. I failed... I'm sorry Zeke... I don't disserve you." "Don't say that Savania. You did nothing wrong." Savania stared at him trying to stop the tear flow. He knelt beside her on the ground, gingerly holding her hand, never taking his eyes from hers. He almost snarled at her when she blamed herself. He didn't answer her when she said her Seal was gone, but he stiffened angrily when she protested that she didn't deserve him. He opened his mouth to respond, then looked up sharply at the Rider of the black dragon,"Thank you." he murmured quickly to her before returning his attention to Savania. His expression softened from anger to a mixture of anguish and worry when she said she wanted to sleep. He pulled her against him, cradling her head with his arm and sliding his thumb from her temple to her jaw, trying to soothe her,"Sleep, little heart. I won't leave you again. I'll still be here when you wake." he murmured comfortingly, rocking gently to try and help her rest more peacefully. - - - - - - - - - - Jia's shame turned into self-anger. This should have been her. She hated herself for foisting her burden onto another. She'd experienced this trauma once before, what would one more time do? She shook her head again and this time only spoke to Eris, Nirexi, and Isabella. That should have been me. This will scar Savania. I'll sleep outside for a few days, I don't mind." Glancing at Jia anger and surprise went across his face. Walking over to her he gently put his hand on her snout to try and sooth her, "It wasn't you're fault Jia. Don't blame this on yourself." he said gently, "I should have hurried faster." Glancing at Savania he said, "I just wish there was more I could do to help her." Shaking his head he felt worthless just as he did when this happened to Quasar. At least no one was betraying them though. He sighed and glanced around at them. Opining his mind he called Maraghon. When the Alfin arrived he said, "Get my tent out, I won't be sleeping in it but can you get it out? Also send a few guards around and Alfin to scout the area. I'll take first guard shift." Maraghon nodded, "Yes Chosen One." With that he left. Savania heard Eris' offer but didn't reply. She simply leaned her head against Zeke and closed her eyes to try and get some sleep. If anyone to blame its Crimson and Galedrim." Watching them all for a moment Maragohn came back to them telling Savania and Zeke Eris' tent was set up. Not wanting Savania to overhear he said to Jia through mind, If we made another seal could Savania be turned back into a dragon? He wasn't sure if he wanted to know the answer. Even if she could they'd have to get the seal back. Crimson with even one of those wouldn't be good. "We should all go back to camp. Come, the Alfin and I will take guard shifts for the night." he said, trying to lead them back. "General, she escaped, I think Zeke rescued her." Galedrim snarled, but he expected as much, "At least we still have the shield, though Lord Crimson will still be angry that we let his... prize escape." Galedrim sighed, part of him was glad Savania escaped. "Should we go after them?" Galedrim thought of it for a moment but shook his head, "No, don't go after. Their Alfin are near impossibly to kill. Let them come to us." He got up, gently pulling his mate up with him. He cradled her carefully as he walked into the tent and gingerly laid her down on the sleeping pad. He brushed some hair out of her eyes,"Would you like me to stay, or do you want to rest alone?" he murmured quietly so he didn't startle her. - - - - - - - - - - Jia only nodded when they continued to comfort her and say it wasn't her fault. She sighed and went to the tent, curling up outside the entrance into a tight ball. She had closed her eyes when Eris asked her his question, and she reopened one eye to look at him. Yes, she can be, but I wouldn't recommend it until she's healed a little bit. Changing when your injured can cause permanent scarring on the skin. Think about it in a few days. For now let her rest. She's hurt and likely in shock. she murmured. She lifted her head a bit when he started leading them back. There is some healing herbs in my saddlepack. I think I might have some thyme, for shock, and poppy seeds to help her rest. I could Change quickly and tend to her for a few minutes, if she wants me to. she offered, brightening a bit at the possibility of being able to do something to help the situation. She huffed softly. If only I had a vial of vampire blood, I could heal all of her wounds without even breaking out a single herb. she muttered under her breath, forgetting that Eris, Nirexi, and Isabella could still hear her. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. Curling up into a ball she pulled one of the covers from the sleeping pad over herself. "Zeke, I'm sorry I caused you so much trouble." she said softly. Eris nodded to Jia and replied, "I'll ask her then." Heading over to the tent he quietly opened the flap to see Savania and Zeke inside, "Savania, Jia offered to tend your wounds with some herbs and other medicine if you don't mind." Savania stared at him for a moment through her silver eyes giving a small nod, "I don't mind..." she said quietly. "I'll tell her." Eris walked to Savania and bent down to give her a quick hug, "Just sleep Savania, everything will be fine." "Thanks Eris." Getting up Eris left the two in the tent. He could tell that Savania wanted to sleep but her wounds needed to be fully healed. Returning to Jia he said, "She says she doesn't mind if you do." To Isabella he said, "You all can sleep if you want. She shook her head and watched as Eris came back out saying that they could sleep. "Thats fine with us. We'll just curl up outside the tent, I'm more comfortable sleeping against Nirexi anyway." Iz began to tend to her group, Raill padded over and pulled off some of the bags and set them against the side of the tent, while Scout flew up to the top of the tent pole, landing against it and staying there. Nirexi settled down, creating the small space against his belly and leg for Isabella to set up her bed. She tossed blankets into the small spot and sat down in it, pulling her reports out of her bags, beginning a log on the resistance and all she had observed. After a while she whistled sharply, and Scout flew down to her arm, "Scout, do me a favor?" He trilled, "Alright, boy, can you go spy a little more on that camp. Make it look like your just scavenging for mice in their camp. Try and get closer to that man, Galedrim, I think was his name." He took off and she whispered, "Best of luck to you.." Anguish flitted over his face, and he had to swallow back the lump in his throat. Anger glinted in his eyes when she apologized yet again, and he was opening is mouth to reply when Eris came in to ask if Savania wanted to be healed by Jia. He released a breath of relief. His sister was well learned in the uses of herbs and medicines. He stiffened and bit his tongue when the ex-Rider came closer and hugged his mate, withholding a protective growl. When Eris had gone, he leaned down close to Savania so she had to look at him,"You are never any trouble to me, little heart." he soothed, touching her cheek with his fingertips. He wanted to hug her, to crush her against his chest and tell her that she would always be safe with him. But he didn't. - - - - - - - - - - Jia looked up at Eris when he came out. She'd already removed her saddlebags and was waiting for the answer. She snorted softly and nodded, but didn't bother with replying in words. She Changed to human form, waited for the disorientation to pass, then knelt down on one knee to search in the pack for her pouch of herbs. She found it quickly, since she usually kept it at the top of her supplies, and bustled into the tent. She scowled playfully at her brother to try and lighten the mood,"Out." she commanded him sharply,"Out, out, out! I'll need to see the wounds clearly and having you in here will only distract both me, her, and you. I also don't need you restraining yourself from ripping my throat out every moment I'm in here." she snapped. She was not being brusque in a mean way, or at least she wasn't trying to. Zeke glowered at her, glanced at his mate, then got to his feet and stalked out of the tent. Jia sighed in relief, then knelt by her sister-in-law. She sat cross-legged and set the pouch beside her,"I don't have enough to treat all of your wounds, so I need you to show me which ones hurt worst." she murmured, her voice warm and tender now instead of sharp and barking. _________________ Eka fricai un Shur'tugal. When Jia came in she flinched at her words though she knew they weren't directed to her. Glancing at Jia she said, "My back... they whipped me a lot there. She went to turn over and gave a small yelp as she moved over the tender wounds on her back. "My eyes hurt to." Sighing she also moved her arm a bit, Eris had healed the broken bone from when Andrews slammed her down, but it was still bruised badly, "I'm sorry to bother you Jia."[/color] Eris stared out over looking the direction the camp was. He hoped they could lay siege to it, but even with the Alfin they were still out numbered at least five to one not to mention Savania was in no shape to fight while Tel, Anir, Zeuk, and Quasar were likely to young. "Savania..." he said her name quietly and shook his head violently. No! She's a dragon not a human. Besdies, she's Zeke's mate. he snapped to himself. Hating himself even more he just noticed one of the Alfin watching him. "Are you ok Eris?" "I'm fine," he replied gruffly, glad it was only an Alfin by him. He wasn't sure why, but oddly her human form reminded him so much of Ravinia. "I wish I would have changed my mind on what I wanted." he sighed. "You had three choices, why not have picked both?" the Alfin asked, knowing what he meant since the Alfin was one of the ones with him when he gave his three requests. "I wasn't thinking it at the time, I'm glad I still have memories of her but... oh never mind." The Alfin glanced at him, "Eris, you know we can't give you more requests since we were freed of the Darkness." "I know!" he snapped. At once he lowered his voice. He shouldn't have snapped at the Alfin, it did nothing to him, "Sorry it's just... I don't know, I miss her so much." "Eris, you can't have her." Eris held in a snarl, partially not sure which one the Alfin was talking about and that he knew the Alfin was right either way, "You've never had the woman you loved torn away from you and you couldn't do anything to help!" At once he felt his voice rising but didn't care, the Alfin watched with understanding and listened, "I should have been there! I should have gone with her! Its my fault she and Throat Ripper died! It should have been me, I could have protected them! I could have saved them!" his voice cracked but he held in a sob, "I don't know why, I've never thought of," he gestured to the tent, "her this way. She's only a friend and actually a dragon not a human." "Eris their deaths were not your fault. You must know that. Ravania and Throat Ripper died not because of you." the Alfin said. Eris only grunted, though he told the Alfin, they didn't really know what he saw and what had happened, "As for your other problem, could it only be lust?" "Normally I'd say no and that I'm not a selfish pig like that but I hope you're right." Eris replied. It was after all, none of her business. She busied herself with the report, knowing that Scout wouldnt be back for a while. He was usually prompt but she knew hed take a little longer on this assignment, knowing that they were very well in danger. Raill quietly crept up onto them, having gone off exploring the camp, slinking around the shadows and listening. Iz. We still havent even met the other dragons. Tomorrow lets try to do that. They seem interesting. Especially the youger male. She nodded, humming a small tune, "We'll see." She thought a moment, "Is it just that you want to play with them?" He looked about as appalled as a panther could, Now why in the world would you think that? Iz chuckled, "Maybe because thats all you want to do with all of the children we've met." He shook his head, Not only that, but they really do seem interesting. Iz rolled her eyes and asked him about their choice to join this battle. It can't be helped now, Iz. We've connected with these individuals and we should see it through. I know you're analyzing everything about this, but I think it is what it is. Somehow this Crimson fellow has been working under our noses to have captured so much of Alagaesia. Iz nodded, "Yes but shouldnt we have heard something? We've been running routes between the Hadarac and Surda and the Empire for two months now. Its not as if this was happening unperceptably," she ran her hand over her neck, "Maybe we should write a letter to our contact in Surda and send Scout with it. Depending on how long it takes him to get back he could get there in a matter of days." Raill gazed at her, and sat on his haunches. That may be a good idea. He could inform us of this Crimson's actions in Surda and Hadarac as of late. Raill jumped up into the small space where Isabella laid and rested his head against her hip. Write the letter and send Scout when he gets back. Im going to sleep for a while. Isabella started the letter immediately after finishing the report, and soon after had it sealed and rolled up, ready to send. Iz, you're tired, Nirexi said. She chuckled knowing that he was right. He had been listening to everything that she and Raill had said, but hadnt wanted to speak. Sleep now, Isabella. He reached his neck out to nuzzle her head, showing his care. He flinched when he heard Savania yelp, and had to bite his tongue to make himself stand still. He was so tuned into the sounds coming from the tent that Eris's shouting didn't even register in his ears. - - - - - - - - - - Jia winced in sympathy, remembering the pain when she'd been tortured. She wished Ka was here. He could make a Seal much faster than she could and he could heal Savania completely. She sighed and gently helped her sister-in-law roll over onto her stomach. She was untying the back of the blood encrusted tunic when she suddenly stopped and put her hands on her hips,"Stop that. You are never a bother to me or to anyone, you hear? If you weren't already my sister because of your being mated to my brother, I'd say I love you like a sister." she growled, but the growl was laced with affection that even a deaf person would hear. She went back to untying her tunic, reaching into her pack with one hand. She retrieved a strip of willow back and put it in Savania's hand,"Bite off a piece of that and chew on it like soft candy. I know it's bitter, but it will help alleviate the pain and will allow you to relax naturally." she murmured. She held her breath when she saw her sister-in-law's scarred and beaten flesh, then went about doing what she could to treat the wounds. She was finishing up and getting ready to roll Savania back over to tend to her eyes when she reached into her pouch and touched something made of glass. She paused, then smiled hesitantly. Could it be...? She grasped it and pulled it out, revealing a small vial filled with a thick, dark red substance. Vampire's blood! She smiled, placing it on the ground. She leaned forward and helped roll Savania over, then she picked up the vial again and placed it in Savania's hand,"I won't tell you what this is, because then you may not drink it. It will give you a measure of your strength back and gradually heal your wounds. She glanced back at Jia and managed to roll back over when she handed her the vampire blood, "Thanks again." she replied gratefully and drank it as fast as she could. At once she yawned and fell back against the sleeping pad. She tried to say something to Jia, but tiredness over took her and she soon passed into sleep. Eris sighed, glancing into the stars. A tear trickled down his face, gripping his sword he stood, but knew better than to head for the camp, even so he wanted to. He wanted to march right in there and tear out Galedrim's treasonous heart. Sighing he sat back down, "Why me? Why did this have to happen to me?" "Everything happens for a reason Eris." "I know... its just..." he glanced at the stars again, "I don't know. I'm so confused right now and worried and... I just don't know what to do." Going to Eris the Maragohn put a hand on his shoulder, "Everyone goes through that Eris. When we healed your mind it jarred some old worries and memories up. You can go through this Eris." Nodding, Eris crossed his legs, "What would you do in my situation?" The Maragohn gave a mad laugh, "Oh Eris, I'd love your situation, at least part of it. We Maragohn cannot love. Though you freed us from the Darkness' corruption, we lost some of our emotions. Just as we cannot reproduce we cannot truly love." Eris grunted, "Sometimes I wish I was like that." Glancing down he muttered, "I lost Ravinia, Throat Ripper, and Quasar. I don't know what I'd do with myself if any more of my friends died." Glancing at him the Maragohn said, "You must sleep Eris. I can tell your tired." "No, I'll stay up." "You sure?" "For now... right now... I don't want to risk anything." The Maragohn laughed. Around the camp Galedrim ordered the defenses up. Though he doubted they would attack, he wanted to be prepared. Already a small rading party was set up near the end of the camp closet to the desert. They were meant for another raiding party against the nomads. "General, are you sure you don't want us to attack them? With a surprsied attack we could easily take her back for Lord Crimson, maybe even kill a few of them." "No," Galedrim replied, "Let them stay for now."
