 Just FallingOOC: Okay! This is another new one from me! I’m just going to use Lilan though. Mainly because she hasn’t found Asmis yet.
IC: Lilan had been running for days. No food, water where she could find it, and she tried to stop as little as possible. Even though she’d been racing through forests and over all sorts of terrain for so long, she only had a slight pant. Her body had been trained to take long periods of hard ship. After all, what kind of messenger would she be if she couldn’t run. This time though, she wasn’t running to any specific place. She was simply running. Away. Away from everything she knew, everything she didn’t want hurt. Therefore, I run, she thought as she jumped up, over a large accumulation on boulders at the edge of a forest. She skidded to a stop abruptly, noticing that there was no more ground to run on. Her displaced mind had wandered too far, and now she was on the edge, literally. There was no sign of panic on her face. That’s another thing she was trained. She fanned her arms backwards to stay on solid ground and did her best to pull the weight of her body away from the cliff edge. But with no success, and her dismay, she began to fall. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. IC:Paconio and Augustus were on their daily 'patrol' as they liked to call it. It was a nice and sunny afternoon, the clouds looked beautiful, the birds were singing, and everything just seemed so peaceful. After a moment, the green dragon noticed a young female human running, running like there was no tomorrow. Don't fly down just yet, Paconio said, I want to see what she is doing. Then, as if she weren't paying attention, the girl ran herself off of a cliff! That was when Paconio gave Gus his signal, witch was a really loudly screamed "GO!!!!!!!" In a flash, the rider and dragon were right next to the falling human. "Take my hand!"  Sorry, I forgot to put it’s open to anyone. And Rien, please join too! I love to have people join! Ahhh!  Sorry. I get very excited when other people add their ideas…. It’s an odd trait from my motherIC: Lilan quickly noticed the green entity hastily coming towards her. The tiniest bit of panic slipped past her mask, but she quickly retained it. I hate dragons, she mentally mumbled to herself. Too many times had she had bad encounters with the king’s and the Foresworns’ dragons. Memories sped through her mind and she repressed them within seconds. She was falling. She had no time to reminisce. An elf riding on the back of the green dragon yelled something that was inaudible to Lilan with all of the wind screaming over her ears. She realized though, that he was trying to help because he was holding out his arm. Of course though, just like in fairytales, he was just out of reach. She stretched her arm to it’s limit, she tried to shift her body weight to move closer, but she just kept falling. The rocky ground was getting closer and closer. Every time she looked she noted that it looked ever more hazardous than before. No screaming, she yelled mentally at herself. Deciding then that it would be near impossible to reach the elf’s hand, she relaxed every bone, muscle, and even every cell of her body, and prepared for impact. She’d been through worse, right? Of course she wouldn’t die if she relaxed her muscles enough. Reassurance, she said to herself, You know what that means. And with that, she let tiny trickles of tears fly vertically from her eyes. I’m dead, she thought, To every extent, I am dead. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. Re: Just Falling Paconio's jaw swung open as he watched the girl openly accept her fate and prepare for impact. There was still hope. There was always hope. He stretched his body to it's limits, but still, without the girl doing her part, the odds of him grabbing her were about one to one trillion. Still, he had once promised himself that as long as he lived, nobody in the forest would die if he had anything to do with it.
Finally Augustus got a great idea. Why not just move under the girl and have Paconio catch her. It was harder than it sounded, though. She was falling about just as fast as Gus was flying. There was a great possibility that they would be too late, but there was also the possibility that they would catch her and save a life. Both agreed on that, so Gus flew as fast as he could to get under the girl. The human was falling just as fast as Gus was flying. Just as it seemed as if the girl was going to hit the hard ground, Paconio sent a big boost of energy into Gus's system. The energy gave him just enough time to get under the girl. She landed in Paconio's arms. Re: Just Falling Lilan opened her eyes to the fullest extent as an enormous gust of wind made her almost shiver. She looked to her left where the dragon had been and found only the tail. When she looked farther, almost below her, she saw the large body of it coming closer, fast. She turned her head back around just before the brown haired elf riding on the back of the dragon caught her.
She landed with a cringe from the pain of her back. The scar she’d gotten from her father still stung when put under immense pressure. Letting out a soft breathe of pain, she agonizingly squinted up to the elf. What was he thinking! was the first thing that came to mind when she looked at his face, a small grin plastered on it. Unconsciously turning her head, she looked to the dragon. She glared at it, bubbling up the memories she’d only seconds before remembered. Trying her best not to sound aggravated, she mumbled through partially clenched teeth, “Put me down please.” _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. Re: Just Falling Paconio's grin quickly turned to a disappointed frown. "You look in no condition to keep going on whatever it was you were doing without a nice rest. Just be glad you didn't die." He could tell she wasn't exactly comfortable around Augustus. He wondered why, though. They were the good guys, and they just saved her life, what was there to be mad about? Then, Paconio said "Would you mind if I took you to my house for a nice rest? It isn't very far from here, and considering that you just fell off of a cliff, you need one. By the way, I am Paconio, and my big green buddy here is Augustus."
Hey, Gus said in a very shy way, slightly smiling at the girl. He was a very shy dragon, no doubt about it. Re: Just Falling Lilan glared mentally at the elf’s assessment of her well-being. She was fine. She didn’t need rest, she needed to run. Forever. He was screwing that up.
Cut it out, she mouthed to herself, He saved your worthless life, be happy. And with that, she slipped a workable grin onto her face. “Hi. I’m Lilan. It’s very nice to meet you both,” she said calmly. An irritation pinched her mind when the green dragon, whom she now knew to call Augustus, sent a welcoming message and a smile. She did her best to give him a warm smirk, which she thought was very believable. She’d given fake smiles a thousand times, but didn’t consider herself a pro just yet. “It’s a very nice offer, to let me into your home, but I think we’d both be much better off if you simply just let me be.” Right after the words came out, she realized how horrible that last combination had sounded. Just let me be?! she screamed to herself, What kind of ending is that?! She sighed aloud and tried one more time, “I didn’t mean any kind of rudeness. I just meant that I’m usually…” she paused to think of a good explanation for herself. “A bad luck charm,” she said with a slight smile wrapped around her face. Re: Just Falling "Are you sure...?" Paconio asked with another worried glance at the Lilan. "Gus and I have can handle a lot, we have certain... abilities that other people do not. I'm sure we can help you until you are fully rested and ready to move on." His smile returned to his face. He remembered a time when he didn't want any help from anybody. He didn't accept help from anyone at all, he always just wanted to do it on his own. As he stopped 'zoning out' as he liked to call it, he asked Gus to fly them to land. Gus did as he was asked and brought them to the land. Paconio jumped down, and helped Lilan down. "So, are you going to come with us?" He asked.

Re: Just Falling “Positive,” Lilan answered to the elf. She knew she was a bad luck charm, her dad told her so. Not that she ever listened to him.
Paconio helped her down and she landed lightly on her feet, the way she normally jumped. “If you truly and deeply insist,” she said plainly. Re: Just Falling Paconio smiled in triumph as he led the group to his house. He was always glad to help someone, so long as their intentions were good. Lilan seemed like a nice person, so he figured that it would be safe. After a few minutes, they reached a clearing. In the center was a small stone house. Scattered all over the clearing were old and beaten up training dummies. He led Lilan inside of his house, to a nice and comfortable bed. "You can rest here," He said.

Re: Just Falling Lilan tried not to pay attention to the surroundings as they walked to Paconio’s home. It took a lot of concentration not to because, like everything else weird about her, it was etched into her brain as a soldier to record anything and everything.
She noticed quite obviously the beaten up training dummies that skirted the clearing. She wondered how much they had been used, but thought it best not to question and pry. They entered the house and Paconio ushered her to an ethereal looking bed; she hadn’t slept or even napped in what seemed like months. She almost plopped onto the soft cushion but thought it rude and childish. Thus, she refrained from doing so and gently laid down on the bed, sinking into deep and welcoming sleep. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. Re: Just Falling Paconio exited the house, calling to the birds as he did. A few flew to him, resting on his shoulders. Soon, many more came, covering the entire outside of the house and singing very beautify, but strangely soft. Paconio smiled. There was most likely no other being who liked birds as much as he did. Birds always just seemed so... graceful to him. They always seemed to like him as much as he liked them, too.
Augustus never really appreciated the birds or what they did. He didn't like them at all. He thought it was kind of like Paconio waving an appetizer in front of his face and saying he couldn't have it. So, for those reasons, Gus sat in the edge of the clearing. But besides friendship, birds with yellow tags on them were the main force of his animal army Paconio had formed. Re: Just Falling Lilan, like most people who once lived in Uru’baen, has nightmares. Mainly of battles and wars she had overseen or possible even been a part of. Most were gruesome, bloody battles that never seemed to end. But every so often, once in a dragon’s normal life span, she would sleep well, without nightmares.
This, she unconsciously thought, was one of those times. It was simple; no nightmares, no excruciating pain, no sweating, no irregular heartbeats, no uncontrollable shivers. Just black. Beautiful black, she dreamed, Black…. The evil color…The color that reminds me of the two people who hate me most. And of course, with that train of thought, the wars began. Flashes of fallen soldiers, blood-ridden fields, mutilated corpses left to decay on top of each other, loud yells echoing through valleys and forests, children’s torn and beaten faces, everyone screaming and mourning for the loss of someone dear to them. That was me once, she remembered, the day Mom died… That was me, mourning and crying for the taking of the one person in the world who actually seemed to care… Another flash from her childhood made her fly out of the bed. She slammed hard onto the floor and sat up quickly, her hair tangled and knotted, making her wild eyes covered with vines of red. She threw her head from left to right, trying to remember where she had been before she’d been dreaming. She stood up quickly when she heard a chorus of birds outside. She cautiously made her way to the entrance, hiding in the shadows to the side like she was trained. As she looked outside, the tiniest bit of amazement slipped past her face. Millions of all types of birds covered every inch of a small clearing on the outskirts of the house. When she looked more closely at what was out there, she noticed a large green dragon lying on the outer edge of the area. It looked almost irritated or sad even. She noticed a brown haired elf in the middle of all the havoc and eyed him precariously. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. Re: Just Falling Paconio continued on with the birds, whistling songs with them for amusement. Still, he kept in contact with Augustus, trying to cheer him up with a few jokes. Eventually Gus, like he always did, caved in. A smile spread itself across his face, and eventually you could hear him slightly humming along with the birds. As they all sang, Paconio couldn't help but want to check up on Lilan. Anything could happen if her being a bad luck charm was true, but Paconio was going to make sure she was okay.
On his way into the house, though, a glass he was going to fill with water in a moment for Lilan randomly broke right in his hand. Paconio yelled and cursed loudly, and began to heal up the wound with his blue healing sparks. Re: Just Falling Lilan dove quickly out of sight. The elf was coming to the house! She fell to the floor with a quiet thud and hid behind a nearby wall. Panic enveloped her quickly, like a child afraid of the dark. Her heart raced uncontrollably and the boiling blood made her scar scream bloody murder. She cupped her hands over her ears as to make sure blood wouldn't seep out of them.
Forcing her fingertips harder against her skull, she whispered four tiny words that would hopefully stop the pain; something her mother always said, “Du gata ij wyrda.” The path of fate. It reminded her of when she was a kid. Her mother would whisper that to her when she was lying in her bed, dazed with sleep and covered with darkness. Every night. A glass shattered and a yell and curse soon followed. Lilan opened her eyes and realized that she’d mistakable broken the glass that the elf had been holding. She stared in shock at the blood that was quickly being cleaned up. Blue sparks darted everywhere around the elf’s hand. Paconio, Lilan realized, we know him. When she understood fully what she’d just done, pure horror made her blood freeze in place. She’d hurt him, the one who’d helped her, who’d welcomed her into his home. She hurt him. A high-pitched moan of panic breathed it’s way out of her lungs. She covered her ears once more in hopes to squish the worry inside her head. She repeated the phrase again and again, every time pushing harder and harder on her head. Just stop! she finally cracked, just stop. The pain seized and everything when dark. She was breathing hard and with quite a bit of difficulty. When she finally opened her eyes, tears of pain and dismay rushed past her eyelids like icicles. Paconio was standing very still over her scrunched up, worthless clump of skin and bones. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. Re: Just Falling As Paconio cleaned up the mess of the broken glass, he heard a high-pitched moan. He ran over as fast as he could to where he heard it. He found Lilan in a ball, most likely unconscious. Then, she opened her eyes, and wept once more. Extremely worried, the elf picked her up in his arms. "Is... something wrong, Lilan?" He said in a slow, yet friendly voice. His concerned eyes stared into hers, and for a moment, he wondered if it had something to do with the breaking glass.
He brought her outside, setting her down on one of the few large spaces that were not inhabited by birds. Re: Just Falling Lilan sat limp next to Paconio. She hated it when people worried, especially if it was her fault. I told you so, she thought as she shrank farther into the shadow of her arms. She set her head against them and let her hair fall over her face.
“I’m fine,” she finally breathed. She lifted up her head to view all the beautifully colored birds. “Do they all have names?” she asked, trying to change the subject. Then she looked tot eh dragon, eyeing it curiously. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. Re: Just Falling "Heh, I wish" Paconio said, giggling lightly. "These birds have been my friends for quite some time, but if I tried naming them, I don't think I'd ever finish!" Paconio's loud laughter filled the clearing, giving it a more cheery mood. His laughter stopped after a minute or so, leaving the area will a quiet feeling. "Speaking of the birds, do you want to hold one... or two... or more than that? They don't bite... much anyway..."

Re: Just Falling Lilan laughed along with Paconio. She would get through this with the tiniest amount of bitterness as she could. Looking around, she agreed with Paconio that he indeed would never finish naming all of them. She smiled in awe up to him when he asked if she wanted to hold one… or two… or more! The idea of actually being able to hold a living being had been long out of her reach. She discarded the biting point; she’d been through enough where it wouldn’t have any effect on her.
“May I?” she asked quietly. Joy was clearly visible on her face now. Re: Just Falling Paconio smiled as joy etched itself onto the face of Lilan. She seemed very excited at the thought of holding one of the birds. "I'll be right back..." He said, walking around and looking at the birds. He found a medium sized bird sitting by itself. It was a beauty. It had a white head, with gray cheeks. It's entire body was completely gray, except for a white bar going down either wing. It's tail feathers were white like snow, and there were black stripes running down them.
Paconio held out his hand for the bird to climb on. The bird did as he wished, and then proceeded to climb up and sit on his shoulder. Paconio walked back over to Lilan, a smile on his face. Re: Just Falling Lilan’s stomach churned with excitement as a beautiful, colorless bird propped onto Paconio’s arm and then up to his shoulder. He walked over to her, the pure elation just screaming in her mind. With a flash of black, white, and gray, the bird flapped rapidly onto her uplifted arm. Closing her eyes and tilting her head away to defend her face from the wings, Lilan waited for the talons to sink into her skin slightly, then turned her face to the magnificent creature now perched on her arm.
“You’re so beautiful,” Lilan whispered to it absent mindedly as she continually stroked it’s large gray stomach. She wondered how something so extraordinary could be so smooth to the touch. With that thought in mind, she looked to Augustus. He had green scales like thick armor over most of his body, but his stomach looked softer. She looked back to the bird and brought it down to her head level. Keeping her arm pointing forward as to not make the bird feel uncomfortable, she continued to pet and look over the being with a silent smile. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. He looked back at Gus, who was rolled over, sleeping with a few birds on his belly. Paconio snickered slightly at it, but then returned his attention to Lilan and the bird. He sat down next to her, his smile never wavering. He seemed so overjoyed. Why, he did not know...

Re: Just Falling Lilan listened quietly to Paconio’s voice. His words didn't faze her; she was too intrigued with the creature attached to her forearm.
She sat there, stroking the gray belly, her electric blue eyes staring calmly at it. “What a beautiful sight you are,” she said unconsciously again. She didn’t know why, but sitting there with the gorgeous bird…. It just made her so happy, so peaceful. After sitting there for a while longer, she grew more and more calm, just sitting there petting it’s soft stomach, “Can I name him?...or her?” She turned red after realizing what she’d just asked. This was Paconio’s bird. What right did she have in naming it? She looked shamefully down to an empty patch of grass next to her, “Pardon me, please. Re: Just Falling Paconio sat there along with Lilan, idly admiring the bird. He was about to ask her if she wanted to keep him, when she asked if she could name him... or her. He opened his mouth to say that it was hers, and she could do what ever she wished to and/or for it, but he was cut off as she apologized. He sat silent for a couple of moments, mulling over what the right words to say would be.
He then looked at her, eyes lit up and a smile still on his face, and said, "You can keep him/her, if you like. Re: Just Falling Lilan’s heart stopped almost automatically when she heard the last statement Paconio had added. She’d never heard anyone ever say that to her. Pictures flashed in her head of when she was a kid, voices and screams echoing in her mind.
Unconsciousness was about to take her when she felt the talons of the bird pierce through her thin layer of skin. She opened her eyes wide to see streaks of blood moseying their way down her arm. “I can’t keep it,” she said abruptly, “I have no place to keep it.” She didn’t show any sign of pain from the deep incisions on her left arm, not a cringe or a grimace, “I wonder around where ever I want…”She said, calmly trying to remove the bird from her arm. She recoiled when it’s beak struck at her hand, “I’m sorry but I can’t.” _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. Re: Just Falling Paconio sat silent for a moment, watching Lilan react to his offer. He gasped when the bird made her bleed. "You know you're not supposed to do that!" He scolded the bird in the ancient language. Before he could think about revealing his ability, he instinctively sent out blue healing sparks to heal the human's wound. The sparks had the wound fixed up pretty quickly, and Paconio pulled a kerchief out of his pack and wiped the remaining blood off of her arm.
"Anyway... back to the bird..." Paconio said modestly. "It is one of my new recruits, all of my birds have yellow tags, somewhere. There is also occasionally a deer or that one bear... But anyway, we're getting off of track. This little birdy has been with the rest of my birds for about two days now. Normally the birds will befriend a new one within an hour, but this bird is... different. None of the birds will socialize with this one. It hunts for itself and everything, so it's not like you would have to do much for it. IC: Lilan gazed plainly as the blue sparks flew every which way and the gnashes on her arm disappeared. She could hear Paconio going on about something with the bird, something with recruits and friends, but Lilan’s mind had gone blank. Never before had she been healed by someone else. Her eyes sat immovably on the smooth skin of her pale arm. Paconio’s voice became nothing but a low hum in the back of her conscience and her mind went into deep thought. Her body relaxed in the slightest fashion that not even an eagle’s eye could have noticed. Her eyes grew pale and lifeless as her mind trailed farther and farther away from reality, from humanity. She wanted that scar to stay there. In an odd way, she liked scars and bleeding; she was sort of insane like that. Staring harder and more intently at her arm, the scar reappeared in the exact same spot where it had just been.  IC:Paconio stared in shock at Lilan's arm. The scar he had healed returned on her arm, as if he had never healed it in the first place! The color drained from his face. He looked over at Lilan. She was smiling, as if she had done it, and had enjoyed it! On second thought, He thought to himself, Maybe offering her the bird wasn't such a great idea... Thinking quickly, he whispered a spell. The bird's stomach growled, as if it were hungry. "Sounds like someone is hungry!" He said as the bird climbed onto his hand. "I'm sure Gus wouldn't mind if you had a nibble or two of the rest of his deer" He said, rubbing the birds neck with his index finger and thumb. IC: Lilan crashed back into reality as she noticed Paconio walking somewhere with the bird. She realized in horror what she’d just done in front of him and stood up to apologize. “Please,” she began in a sad, almost pleading hushed tone, “Please. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…” She stopped as the thought raced back through her head. Her stomach turned and twisted and tears started to swell up in her eyes. You see what you’ve done now, she yelled quietly to herself. She turned around and covered her face with her bony hands and sobbed inaudibly. Trying to wipe the tiny streams away, she slide her wrist around her eyes to soak up the tears. She sniffled a few times and took a few deep breaths, trying to calm her uneven breathing, “Please pardon me,” she said in a raspy voice and started quickly toward the edge of the clearing she was facing. Re: Just Falling Paconio almost didn't notice Lilan rushing towards the forest. His mind was very clouded. How could she possibly make her wound come back? Why would she even want to? Confusion was running through his mind. Then, he ran after her. He stopped her just as she was about to be consumed in the giant mass of the plants in the forest.
The color was still drained from his face, as if he had seen something strange. He tried to wear a relaxed expression, though. "Lilan, what is the matter?" Paconio asked, "It's just a little hungry, that's all..." A pit of guilt opened up inside him, consuming everything. Re: Just Falling Lilan could tell by the fashion of Paconio’s eyes that he was very confused. She hid her dead face behind her bright red hair and fell fast onto the hard forest floor below her, her knees hitting hard against the rocky surface.
“It’s my fault,” she whispered to herself, now curling up into a ball of seclusion; no one ever seemed to bother her there. “I warned you,” she spoke a little louder, “I warned you that I was bad… And now….” She wiped a small stream of tears off her cheeks, “Now I just need to leave.” She stood up tall and pronounced, regaining her melancholy facial mask, and bowed slightly to Paconio, “Thank you very much for your assistance. I am deeply sorry that I’ve caused you so much trouble. Please, I hope you find somewhere in your heart to forgive me.” After a few feet, she turned back around to ask for one last wish. “Please,” she began, trying not to looking past him to the gray bird in particular, “Please… Will you name him Grajzla?” _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. He wouldn't be able to heal himself if she could do the same wound-magic-thing on him. He took a step back as she got up, not knowing what to expect. He tried to look as calm as possible, but sadly just wasn't pulling it off.
"Lilan," He said firmly, "I was never upset with you in the first place. Sure, what occurred here before me was... strange, but that does not mean I am angry with you. Everyone has secrets, and everyone should respect that." The smile crept back on his face. Re: Just Falling Lilan stopped walking when Paconio brought up secrets. Her body froze on the spot and she didn’t have the physical capability to move her legs as the panic set in. She had the most horrid of horrible secrets. No one else even thought about the things she’s seen; she didn’t want anyone to either.
Calm, she thought to herself in the ancient language. A tiny whisper escaped her mouth as she leveled her heavy breathing, “Du gata ij wyrda.” “I agree with you entirely,” she finally turned around to make eye contact, “but my secrets are….” As she searched for the right words to use, more panic pelted through her mental barrier. Paconio was smiling. How could he be smiling after such an ordeal? It was near impossible. She looked past the elf to the green dragon. She wished she could just go over to it and hug it, just to show her appreciation, but she was almost afraid. Looking down to the rock and grass between her and Paconio, she took a few deep breaths to calm herself more, then back up to all of the ethereal birds perched all over the clearing. So peaceful…, she thought. How lucky they are…., she continued, now looking back at Paconio with the tiniest bit of happiness shining in her eyes, to have someone so kind to care for them. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. His smile grew to a grin. "It doesn't matter what your secrets are," He said, "But since you feel so bad about your secrets, I'll tell you ours." He stepped forward a bit, so if there was anyone trying to listen to them, they couldn't hear.
"You see all these birds here? They... They're part of my animal army," He said, gesturing to all of them. Then, he pointed out some smashed up rocks, and the giant hole near Gus. "Those," He started, "Those were created by Gus. “Please don’t,” she breathed. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to know the secrets. Who wouldn’t? Rather more, she didn’t want to seem like she was forcing them out of Paconio. Her mind, as she was trained from childhood, memorized both secrets Paconio had now explained. Re: Just Falling Paconio looked at Lilan with a quizzical expression. What was going on? Was something wrong? He felt that asking that would get her angry with him, so he didn't say anything. He just looked at her with a puzzled look. He figured it was one of the only things he could do without somehow nosing around in her business. Still, this did not diminish the raving monster of curiosity inside of him. He wanted to know, he almost needed to know. Still, he said nothing. He didn't want to seem rude, or anything like that.

He told you two of his secrets, she pushed herself, so the least you can do is tell him two of yours. With a steady breathe she looked far beyond into Paconio’s pupils, “My father is one of the Foresworn.” Her voice became quiet and held aback for the next secret and tears wetted her eyes. Re: Just Falling Lilan jumped a little when Paconio hugged her as if he were a close friend long not seen. She stood there awkwardly, not wanting to hug back, then he pulled away from her. Her eyes were wide and she couldn’t believe he actually seemed to care.
I don’t like this, she thought cautiously. She was very unused to being treated as a friend; she’d also never been embraced so truly. Her mind went into deep thought then, back to when she’d first met Paconio and his dragon. That was maybe just an hour ago, she ventured, They both seem very kind. Thinking back to Augustus, she reminisced about how he’d entered her mind to say hello. Re: Just Falling "Sure," Paconio said, smiling lightly, "Here, I'll wake him up for you." The elf sneaked up to the green dragon quickly, laughing lightly. Then, he grabbed a small branch of the tree. In a flash, the elf was tickling the giant green dragon. Gus squirmed and growled when he awoke, but then broke out into laughter.
Paconio stepped back after a few moments, still laughing, but not as much as before. He looked at Lilan after he managed to stop laughing. Walking precariously over to the two, she inched to Augustus’s head. She sat down in front of him, staring up with her mouth open in small awe at the beautiful individual. She reached out her hand to touch the creature’s neck to prove, for herself, that the dragon wouldn’t bite her. Re: Just Falling Lilan flinched as Augustus entered her mind. It still hurt, but she’d experienced it once before so she could handle it quite well now. She let down more of her barrier and relaxed a little.
‘It’s very nice to meet you, Augustus,’ Lilan thought calmly. She rested her cold, pale hand on his neck slowly, sliding her palm back and forth on his green glinting scales, ‘Your scales are very smooth.’ After that thought came, she realized that Gus probably heard her, ‘There’s another presence in here, Lilan.’ Then she realized she was talking to herself and became very confused. ‘I’m sorry,’ she began, ‘I’m really not used to having another being in my head.’ She looked down silently, her hair falling in her face. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. Re: Just Falling Lilan thought for a moment as to why she had wanted to talk to the large green creature. 'To be truthful,' she began in a very mumbled and shy voice, 'I have no idea. I guess....I guess I just wanted to see if I could handle it....'
A story rang up in her head that she felt was unimportant enough to share. 'You see,' she began again, a little more confident and assured, 'when I was little, I used to live in Uru'baen. It was where my father had taken me after my mother died...that's off topic Lilan.' she stared shyly at Agustus and sighed aloud in frustration. 'Okay,' she tried one last time, 'When I was growing up, all of the Foresworn were alive, thus all of their dragons were also. Whenever one of them were mad at me, usually my father, they would tell their dragons to wrench into my head and it hurt a little more every time. That's also why my mental barrier is somewhat stronger than most. After some time I learned to control it, though, He said, being as cheerful as possible. He was beginning to like Lilan. She seemed like the type of person who could get along with.

We do this little 'patrol' thing like twice a week, to make sure all is well in the forest, you just happened to be there at the same time we were patrolling, Gus said.

Zantos jumped up in the air, sending bolts of lightning down to the nearest enemies and clearing the ones farther back with several balls of fire. The large company of Empire soldiers seemed endless. Being a wanted man had never seemed easy, but until now he hadn't had too much trouble dealing with it. Now, however, a large group of soldiers had surrounded him, and he had just barely been able to fight them off to break away and try to flee. He knew that he was more powerful than all of them, but combined they proved to be a rather gruelling challenge. There weren't very many left, perhaps a little over a dozen, but his strength was seriously failing. The fight had seemed to be endless, and now that he was so close to prevailing he felt as if he couldn't go on any longer. Cuts and bruises covered his body, and blood flowed freely from wounds scattered everywhere along it. Half of his face was caked in blood. Summoning the last of the strength he had, he sent a large wave of fire towards the soldiers. Some fell where they were, but others kept on going, seeming to not have been hit as bad. There were about four left now. One charged at him, sword raised, and Zantos lifted up his swords to block the attack. They felt heavy as large rocks. Grunting, he was able to withstand the attack and stab the man in the chest. The last three converged upon him, and he thrust his two swords in opposite ways, stabbing the men on the side of him, and managed to jump up slightly and kick the man in the face, who stumbled back, clutching it in pain. Zantos tried to finish him from there, but he ended up being too slow and the man was able to block him. Fervently, he wished that they weren't protected by so many wards. His legs felt unable to hold him any longer, and he felt like collapsing onto the floor. As his vision started to blur and the man slowly walked towards him to either capture him or kill him, Zantos heard the soft voice of a girl that he had really liked before Galbatorix's men had raided his town. It sparked a last burts of energy within him, and yelling out as loud as he could, he thrust both of his swords into the man's chest with a movement so quick the man barely had time to gasp as he felt the blades pierce him. Zantos quickly sheathed his blades, one on the sheath at his waist and the other across his back. He turned and found himself facing the large forest of Du Weldenvarden. Slowly, he walked towards it. He knew that he might not make it too long in this condition. Hopefully, he could find some kind of help. As he painfully walked, he tried to recover some strength. Somtimes he felt like stopping and just collapsing on the ground, but he knew that it might very well mean his death. Finally, he felt he was strong enough to heal some of the more severe wounds, but he still felt weak and wounded. He drank a lot of water whenever he came upon streams, feeling more thirsty than he ever had. He walked for days, and soon he lost track of thoughts and time. He didn't even know whether he was just walking in circles or not. Finally, his vision picked up the figures of a girl and a green dragon. "Hey, I'm Zantos. I was..." he trailed off, the stress of talking making him feel dizzy. Feeling sick, he slowly dropped down to the ground. In the end, it felt so comfortable to be lying down that everything turned black and he knew no more. OOC .::. whoa, sorry it's so long. guess I got carried away, lol. if you don't feel like reading everything then just read like the last two paragraphs. _________________

Paconio, the dragon said, We have a tiny situation over here... The rider ran over, to find a man passed out. He hunched over the passed out body, poking it.

Re: Just Falling Zantos coughed slightly and hazily regained consciousness, though he felt extremely dizzy. He tried to struggle to his feet but found he had neither the strength nor balance to do it. He slumped back at the ground again. He had dimly heard what the man had said and looked around. The forest was quiet. "Uh... what fun? It's not much fun being awake when you just got attacked by like a thousand soldiers," he said with a small laugh. He was finally able to look more clearly at everyone. "Hold on a minute... kinda too dizzy to talk..." he said, as he tried to shake off the feeling in his head.

Re: Just Falling Paconio and Gus cringed at the thought of soldiers. "Gus and I will deal with any more soldiers that are out there shortly. Right now, you need some energy," Paconio said as he funneled some energy from his headband into the man. He couldn't help but wonder how the soldiers could get into the forest. Surely his animal friends would've noticed. Oh wait... they were at his home with him! He cursed under his breath. He didn't regret bringing them to his home, though. The strength they provided would be enough to kill just about anything.

Re: Just Falling Zantos shrugged. "Does it really matter all that much?" he asked. "Besides, I think they were just on the fringes of the forest, not actually in it... though maybe there is something kind of fishy going on here. A friend once told me that the Empire penetrated the forest once, and they were just able to get rid of their forces. Maybe they're trying something like that again," he said, remembering the long story. He thanked the man for the energy and looked back at the girl. She seemed uneasy. "What's wrong?" he asked her. Finally able to stand up, he shook himself off and asked, "So what are your names?"

His true name was Zarick but that tiny bit of information was unnecessary. “I’m pleased to meet you,” she ended with a slight bow.

Re: Just Falling Paconio laughed at Lilan's joking tone. Gus's deep and loud laughter joined in as well. Paconio kept laughing for a bit, and then finally got a hold on himself. "That was a good one..." He said, almost whispered.
He went back to what Zantos asked. "Ah you know, Hangin' out with the birds," He said, gesturing behind him to the thousands of birds that were eavesdropping on them. It stopped abruptly though when she noticed the same colorless bird latch onto Paconio’s arm. She tensed for a split second, but then calmed herself to where her breathing was once again even.

Re: Just Falling Zantos smiled, happy that the mood was light. "Where did you get so much birds from?" he asked Paconio, looking at the diverse multitude of feathered animals. One of them flew over and perched itself on his finger. Zantos brought it closer to his face, looking at it more carefully. As his eye approached the bird's face, the bird seemed to get slightly intimidated and flew off again. Zantos laughed.

Re: Just Falling Lilan again went solid and cold as stone; the colorless bird she’d been holding a short while ago now sat on her head, high above her eye level. She waited a few seconds, letting her heart rate calm, then reached up to detach the being. It squirmed off and landed flimsily on her opposite shoulder before she even touched it. Her shoulders were shrugged in protection and she moved them back down so they were once again straight, letting the bird have more room to sit.
As the conversation progressed, her heart rate went back to normal, jumping a few times whenever the creature made any sudden movements. She tried once again to be humorous. “He also knows a few deer, and that one bear,” she stated snickering; she thought the bear one was quite funny. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. I put yellow tags on them, so they all know they're part of the same gigantic flock, and so Gus won't eat 'em." He giggled a bit at the last part, but got over it quickly. By this point, only his face wasn't covered by birds. They were clinging to his pants, his shirt, and a few even sat on his shoes. He sighed, knowing that they wouldn't be going anywhere any time soon...

Re: Just Falling Zantos laughed slightly at the other two. The realization hit him that they were playing with birds, and it struck him as funny. He had to supress another laugh then.
Rezekiel looked around at the thick forest surrounding him. It was actually his first time coming here, to the home of the so called elves. He might find it interesting to cause some trouble around here, and maybe his search would come to an end in this area as well. He could practically sense the multitudes of ancient secrets that this forest had. OOC .::. thought I'd bring an evil charry in, to shake things up a bit. _________________

Re: Just Falling Lilan giggled along with Zantos and Paconio. She could sense one more being close by, and kept a slight link to it; she kept her eyes open for anything unusual.

Re: Just Falling Rezekiel could sense four other beings nearby. One was a Rider, one was a dragon, one was a human girl, and one was a human man... and he could sense something very interesting in this last one. Perhaps he would make a valuable hostage. He considered rushing in to attack now, weighing the odds. He doubted even he could win in a full on fight against three people with this much power and a dragon, but he did think it would be possible to either cause some damage or kidnap someone...
Zantos looked up at Gus as he said there was another being nearby. Indeed, he felt his presence too, and something about it unnerved him a little. "What should we do about it?" he asked. _________________

Re: Just Falling Lilan ran faster, trying to lose Paconio and the others; she didn’t need them wounded after all they’d done for her. Jumping over a few boulders and fallen tree trunks, she sprinted as fast as her legs would allow, pushing them to their limit.
She reached out with her mind and the feeling of excitement unexpectedly fell upon her. She hadn’t fought in months and now she had someone to fight and possibly from the Empire to boot! A smile popped onto her face as she pulled out her arm-and-a-half length sword in mid-stride over a tall boulder. A dark figure was crouched on the other side of a dried up river bed that divided the two boulders on which they stood. She slid to an abrupt stop before fully sliding over the edge; it was about a thirty-foot drop and she didn’t need to almost die again. _________________ "The sands of time cannot be stopped. IC: Gus nodded at Zantos. Ah... Not very many people enjoy talking to me anyway... He said quietly. He would jump up to help, if Paconio told him to. He didn't bother telling his Rider that Zantos had followed after him, though. Paconio could sense Lilan speeding up her pace, as if she was trying to get away from them. The elf wasn't going to let this happen for a number of reasons. The first one was, he wouldn't let anyone die, if he had some say in it. The second one was, no matter what she did, she was eventually coming back to his house, and was taking the bird that she liked so much. The last one was, somewhere deep inside of his heart, he had a certain affection towards her. He was only a little bit behind. Rezekiel slowly stood up and removed his hood. Smiling up at the girl, he said, "It seems that your friends are in a hurry to catch up," he said, still smiling venemously. "I didn't realize I had become quite so popular..." He slowly started to walk towards the girl, very slowly, then at the last moment dashed up towards her, drawing his sword and feinting to attack her head on, but at the last moment he moved to the side and slashed his sword at her. _________________

Re: Just Falling Lilan dodged the man’s slice quickly and smoothly, falling into the small ravine and landing in almost utter silence. She started to run farther down the river bed, trying to distance herself more from everyone else. Putting her sword back in it’s sheath and spun around, waiting for the dark figure to come close enough to fist fight.

Re: Just Falling Paconio heard some talking in the distance. Just as he was about to reach the voices, however, he fell. He yelped, and felt anger, as well as pain, well up inside of him. He was so close to assisting Lilan, yet so far. He looked down at his leg. It was bent at an odd angle. He knew it was broken. He didn't have the time to heal it then. He rested his head in the leaves, knowing he probably just let Lilan slip into the hands on evil.

Re: Just Falling Zantos quickly caught up to Paconio after he fell and bent down to look at him. "Alright, come here," he said, slumping him over his back and running forwards as fast as he could with the added weight. "When we get there, you're gonna heal your leg as fast as you can so you can help me protect Lilan, alright?" he said. Sooner than he expected, he arrived at the site and saw a dark clothed man squaring off against Lilan. Snarling, he laid Paconio down and drew his swords, dashing towards the man. The man turned around and said, "The name's Rezekiel. What about you?" before quickly putting his sword up and parrying Zantos's blow. Zantos growled and started slashing as fast as he could, but no matter how fast or hard he went, Rezekiel seemed to be able to block everything. He was very fast, and when Rezekiel switched to offensive Zantos was barely able to keep up.

Re: Just Falling Lilan watched in anticipation as the man, Rezekiel turned to face Zantos. ‘No,’ she thought simply. She closed her eyes and lifted her hands even with her shoulders, her arms straight forward and loose at the elbows.
“Pain,” she breathed loudly and Rezekiel hunched down. But to her amazement and irritation, he stood back up, breathing hard. She cursed under her breathe and scowled apologetically at Zantos. He flicked his head up to the small cliff’s edge. She looked up in confusion and in one swift motion, jumped and kneeled next to Paconio, noticing his leg was bent out of shape. She whispered a healing spell and held her hands above his mangled leg. That mixed with his blue sparks assisted the healing faster and much more efficiently. When Lilan came to him, he started his flurry of healing sparks. Combined with Lilan's healing magic, the leg was healed quite quickly. "Thanks," He whispered to her, and then jumped up. He drew his sword and ran towards the dark figure. He could see that Zantos was struggling to hold the man off. "You get out of my forest!" He roared as he swung his blade at the man's side. (ooc: This next part is right when Paconio falls) Augustus roared as he felt pain plague his connection with Paconio. He knew that the elf was really hurt, he could even determine it was in his leg area. Re: Just Falling Zantos grinned as Paconio came to help out. "About time," he said, laughing slightly.
Rezekiel glared up at the dragon that had arrived. The odds were not starting to look good now. There was probably very little chance that he could finish them all off like this, especially since they were all much stronger than he thought. With one last maneuver, he slashed towards Paconio, and as Zantos moved his blade forward to try and block the slash in case Paconio couldn't, Rezekiel quickly changed directions and slashed off Zantos's arm near the shoulder completely, then somersaulted back into a tree and out of view. I need to find a way to separate them from that dragon long enough for me to do something, he thought to himself. Zantos yelled out in pain as he felt his arm slip out of his hand. It was the most painful sensation he had felt, as well as the strangest. He kept trying to move his arm, but it was no longer connected to his body, so it only caused the blood to rush out faster. Growling, he bent down and picked up his arm with his other hand, feeling his vision grow blurry from loss of blood. "Help me... put this back," he croaked out, starting to mutter words in the ancient language. _________________

When the blood covered her hands, she stared with wide eyes at the red on her palms. She clutched her fists shut and scowled up to where Rezekiel had hidden his useless clump of bones and skin. Re: Just Falling Paconio gasped in shock as Zantos' hand was cut off. He helped Lilan repair it with his wonderful healing sparks. After a few minutes, the wound was completely healed. He felt the spell take it's toll, but he was casually unconcerned. He had an almost unlimited supply of energy on his forehead, not to mention the emerald in the hilt of his sword.
Gus landed beside Paconio with a soft 'thump'. Where did that guy go? He quickly jumped up to support Lilan. Rezekiel looked at the two figures standing in front of him. "I may not be able to do much to you with these odds, but if you're thinking about harming me... then I'm sorry but I'm going to have to disappoint you," he said, slashing the branch they were standing on so it fell down. _________________

Re: Just Falling Lilan lost her balance for one split moment, watching helplessly as Zantos fell too. She landed with a hard thud on her shoulder, cussing under her breathe. She muscled her way off the ground quickly, limping a little and looking at her now bleeding gash that reddened the entirety of her arm. She raced after Rezekiel as fast as her dying legs would allow her.

Re: Just Falling "Give it up, you won't be able to lay a finger on me," Rezekiel said, blocking Paconio's blade. He sparred with him for a while, keeping him at bay while concentrating on the magic for a portal. Once he had it down, he made it directly below the branch he was standing on, then finally said, "We'll see each other again soon, don't worry." He let himself fall back and landed into the portal, transporting him out of their range to sense, see, or hear him. He quietly sat down underneath a tree to rest.
Zantos quickly stood up and followed after the man, wondering what he wanted with them and what he was doing in the forest in the first place. When he arrived with Paconio, however, he saw that he was gone. _________________

Re: Just Falling Paconio jumped under the tree branch quickly, but when he got there, Rezekiel was gone. Lilan seemed not to not be anywhere around either. He figured that Rezekiel had teleported far out of their range of sense. He cursed loudly. It just wasn't his lucky day today.

Re: Just Falling Rezekiel saw as the portal seemed to be transporting someone else through and quickly changed the properties so that it would teleport whoever was trying to chase him back to where she had started.

Re: Just Falling Paconio blankly stared at the spot under the tree where Rezekiel had disappeared, along with Lilan. He had waved his hands through the area several times, making sure he hadn't just turned invisible. He had no way to track where the man and the woman went.
He called Zantos and Gus over.
