Gender: Girl Affiliation: SF Rebels Dragon: Imnaha	Breanna Name: Breanna Age: 17 Gender: Female Skills: Breanna is extremely clever, perceptive and sensible. She wields great magical skills which focus on nature, since the planet and Nature itself provide the power for her magic and spell casting abilities. Her magical core focuses on air, specifically using it to create a protective armor. It requires names of power, highly specific hand-signs, and emotional/mental focus. Breanna is skillful in the uses of the blade, healing and communicating through mental links with all living creatures. Highly proficient in Ancient Runes and the Ancient Language. Her mother, being an Ancient Rune expert, tutored her in this area, while Fergal, her father taught her the Ancient Language, transferring all his knowledge to her. Breanna has the ability to perceive ill thoughts before they take place to those which whom are in her direct range, up to 3 to 5 individuals at a time. Race: Half Human/Half Elf Hair: Her hair is at the length of the nape of the neck, burnish auburn with golden streaks which change shades as the sun hits her hair. Eyes: Hazel: Her big, almond shaped, hazel eyes are forever changing according to her moods and feelings. They can be soft, sad or penetrating and cruel. She has long auburn eye-lashes which shield her mysterious gaze. Home Village: Osilon. She was brought up in hiding in the Spine Parents: Father: Elf Kind; Fergal smithy/swordsmaster Mother: Human; Vevina, healer/scholar, Brom’s second cousin, Siblings: No siblings Weapons: This sword has a blade of a pale amber orange tone, with dragons engraved on it and a crescent moon. Its' hilt is formed of that of bird in flight. No jewels adorn it except the eyes of the bird which are two perfect diamonds. The sheath is made in earth tone leather. She wears a golden necklace with an eagle pendant which is spelled to avoid anyone scrying her. Breanna also carries a small hand knife which is usually hidden at no specific place in her waistband. Character Personality: Breanna honors her namesake. As a child, her parents told her the meaning of her name, (strong, virtuous, and honorable) and her mother would create fantastic epic stories in which she would fight evil forces and fiends. These stories would be pivotal in the development of her sense of right and wrong as she grew and discovered her many gifts. Breanna has the ability to focus on her healing and spellcasting even in stressful situations. She is quick to survey and react to situations casting her spells in a blink of an eye. Breanna is at times shy, but determined, and extremely analytical. She has a high sense of compassion, honor and justice. However, she can be stubborn, but will yield to reason. Shaylee, Breanna's white eagle, is her constant and ever faithful friend. It is Shaylee who knows Breanna the best and the love shared is mutual. Breanna loves her parents dearly, even though she cannot understand their reason for continuing living in hiding. She has learned to live with their isolation, and enjoys practicing magic and sparring with her father. One of the biggest influences in her lonely life was Brom. With him she learned to love dragons, peace and justice. As a consequence, the dire need to leave her place of safety has become compelling. Breanna also enjoys learning. She considers everyday a learning experience and opens her minds to what is new and different. She specially savors the news her animal friends bring her of what happens and is happening throughout Alagaesia. Character History: Her parents deserted both human and elf kind. They established themselves in the depth of the Spine when Breanna was three years old. At this age her mother was who discovered the child’s magical abilities. Once it was apparent her magic was unique, her parents fled Osilon in order to keep both Varden and Elves from the knowledge of her powers. The only person to know of their whereabouts was Brom. He tried to convince Vevina and Fergal to return home, to no avail. He would always try to come as frequently as he could. Brom would talk to her about his protègé, his virtues, his hopes for the boy, his stupidity and his good heart. Brom had told her he had been a Rider, and she enjoyed listening to his stories of happenings of so long ago in a different Alagaesia. It was this which lighted the flame in her heart to want to help dethrone the evil King. Her rebellious side began to form with the notions and recounts Brom brought to her. During his sporadic visits they would spar until their bodies ached. This gave her the advantage of learning different styles of fighting. She also practiced her spell weaving with him. Brom was more than a relative to her; he was a friend and mentor. Through conversations with her animal friends, she had learned of the death of her dear Brom. It was also through her animal friends she learned about the dire situation the Varden faces. She has argued with her parents in her wish to help with her skills. Fergal and Vevina have been adamant on their refusal to allow her get involved in the war, but her sense of righting the wrongs, and placing her skills to what she believes is the right thing to do which will envelope her deeply in the outcome of Alagaesia. Likes: Completely vegetarian. Breanna enjoys singing and reading. She’s nature’s biggest advocate. She has a love for reading and composing spells in the Ancient Language. She also developed a love and sharp skill for sword fighting, thanks to Brom. Dislikes: Cruelty, injustice, despotism and abuse of any type, kind or manner. She dislikes to be placed “on the spot” and being forced into decisions. She has no tolerance for manipulative people or being manipulated. Animal Companions: Breanna has a very strong affinity with all kinds of animals. She can talk mentally to all living creatures in the Spine, but her best friend is Shaylee , a white eagle. Character's Physical Description: Breanna is a slender girl. Her bounding around the Spine for years as well as her constant sparring with her father has given her strong, flexible muscles and yet has a dainty narrow waist, wide hips, which would make any man’s heart stop. She’s quick and moves with the grace of the elven kind. Her hair constantly falls over her eyes and when nervous she pushes it behind her ears in a quick graceful motion. Her skin has been tanned by her constant outdoor meanderings. When pensive, she tends to bite her lower lip and when angry she presses her lips together forming a thin line. Breanna is not too tall, 5’3”. Dreams for the Future: Breanna longs to participate in the overthrow of Galbatorix and his reign of fear. She yearns to see the race of dragons flourish once more in Alagaesia. Breanna would also like to see her parents return to Osilon without having to fear for her well-being. Reason for Dreams: She has learned through Shaylee and other animals, the troubles going on in Alagaesia. All the times Brom came to visit, he would spend hours talking with her and keeping her abreast of the ongoing situation throughout Alagaesia. Now that Brom is no more, she thirsts to revenge his death. Alignment/side: Breanna’s loyalty is aligned with the well-being of her animal friends. Eventually she may have to decide if she is to align herself with the Varden or the Empire. Animal Friends: Breanna has an uncanny affinity with all living creatures. But her best and most beloved animal is Shaylee. Breanna chose Shaylee’s name with care. She seeked for her white eagle’s name until she learned Shaylee meant Fairy Princess of the Field. Another reason is that I cannot be online all the time so I need others who can check the applications for me as well. They can also miss things that I deem important. For instance I usually look at the skills of a character to determine whether or not they are overpowered for this forum, then i skim the personility and history to make sure they are the right length. Another mod would read through the history and make sure it has nothing to do with the main characters of the Eragon books. It can be easy to miss, so we need to have some failsafes because once we accept a character we cannot exactly un-accept it. _________________ For though I move on, I will always remember you I-L-S. Not happy is a synonym of unhappy, and forgive me, I feel you are being petty with this whole definition of what does "ill thoughts" mean. For you to come on twice and not approve the character because you did not understand what it means and still not approve it, is, if I may say, somewhat arbitrary on your behalf. I gave you the FULL definition of the word, and now you seem to be grasping at straws by adducing, "it is an invasion of privacy to hear other's thoughts." This is an RPG, so we are not using Constitutional Rights here as guidelines. I am very much aware that moderating on this site is on a voluntary basis, but ILS has not been on since this past Wednesday. And I understand he may be occupied in matters of importance. This may not be exactly what Star is looking for but maybe you could explain a couple things to go more in detail about hearing ill thoughts. First, can she actually hear the thoughts, or does she just know that someone is having ill thoughts towards her? Second, how strong do the "ill thoughts" have to be, like they are just unhappy with your charry, or if they are completely murderous and intending harm towards your charry? I guess that's what the detail we're asking for is. The cleft opening of the huge hallow, aged ash tree was big enough for her to enter at the base of the ancient tree. It would offer her and Shaylee more that adequate shelter from the now rapid approaching storm. It was mid-afternoon, but the dark, dense clouds had hidden any remnant of the sun ray which would have otherwise, found their way through the dense vegetation of the Spine. Brenna cautiously step through the opening but took three steps back. She rummaged inside her pack and found the small lantern she had chosen to bring with her. She whispered the words in the ancient language and the lantern blinked offering a soft, bright glow. Unexpectedly, a dozen of bats screeched and flew out of the hallow. Beanna laughed at herself. “Why would some innocent bats startle me?” she said more to herself than to Shaylee. The light from the lantern allowed her to examine the interior. Breanna smiled with satisfaction. Surprised at the length, she stepped in deeper. The space was adequate. She and Shaylee would be more than comfortable. The over-hanging was low, but she was more than willing to stoop over a bit. It was a lot better than braving the storm in the open. “Hmm,” she said out loud. “It will need some tidying up, and,” she wrinkled her nose, “burning some aromatic leaves to get rid of the smell.” “It should not take us much time, before the storm breaks.” She added; “We have a little more than an hour, and I need to cook something for supper.” “I am famished!” Shaylee Breanna set herself to the task at hand with determination and haste. Shaylee hopped out of Beanna’s furtive, cleaning task. Shaylee extended her wings and cawed at her. “I’m getting out, before you shake off my feathers too! she said somewhat annoyed. Soon the hard, compacted earth had been cleared of all debris. At one of the rounded edges of the hallow, a small mound of aromatic leaves issued a sweet smell inundating the hollow with the scent of lavender and lilacs. Breanna then set to use the dry leaves and twigs she had cleared out from the hallow and made a small mound. She breathed, focusing on her magic, placed her dainty hands around the mound and whispered, “Brisingr!” A small blaze of fire sprouted out of the center of the mound. She entered the hallow, opened her pack and with deft, quick movements she retrieved her blanket, the few cooking utensils she had brought with her. She reached in for the tubers she had gathered during her journey away from her home. Breanna extended her blanket; bent, placed the tubers in the small pot. She then picked up the utensils with her empty hand. She stooped a bit and walked out of her temporary abode. Breanna looked at Shaylee and extended the small pot to her; “Might as well be useful!” “Will you please bring some water from the stream?” I’ll need some to cook my supper.” Shaylee flew down from the branch she had been perched on since Breanna had begun her cleaning spree. She grabbed the handle Breanna offered her, with her strong claws and said; “I will return quickly.” “The storm will not hold back for long.” “Then let’s make haste.” Breanna answered. “I’ll peel the tubers while you get the water.” She was almost done when Shaylee returned, pot in claws, slopping water as she position herself before Breanna. Once she had been relieved from her burden, she flew back to her perch and watched her friend complete her task. By no time the water was set in a rolling boil, the tubers were added, so were the herbs which seasoned the soup. There was nothing else to do but wait. Breanna sat at the opening of the tree, hugging her legs and resting her chin on her knees. Her amber eyes were fixed on the dancing flames of the fire. The aroma wafted in the air around her campsite. Her stomach rumbled with hunger. She had not realized how hungry she was. She giggled and returned to watch the dancing flames. All was peaceful. The sound of distant thunder could be heard. The storm was getting closer. Breanna closed her eyes, and suddenly stiffened. ”What is it, Breanna?”Shaylee asked in alarm. She flew down and settled before Breanna. "Breanna, someone comes.” “It’s a two-legged male.” “He is following the scent of your cooking.” Breanna stood up, unsheathed her sword and took one deep breath. She closed her eyes and extended her magic in search of the stranger coming their way. Her magic found him; a tendril of thought found the intruder. Breanna breathed in again and pushed her magic until it touched the thoughts of the unexpected visitor. She listened anxiously. Erendil followed the sumptuous scent that surrounded the air of the forest. He had been searching for the shelter of the ash hallow tree, hoping to reach it before the clouds unleashed their wrath on the earth. The scent took him by surprise. Who could be cooking so deep in the Spine. He approached with apprehension and wariness. He had not expected to come across any other than the common and varied animals which inhabited the Spine. Erendil did not want to fight. But he did not know if the one in the clearing was friend or foe. How would anyone, other than himself, find his preferred tree? He would have to approach with caution; readying himself for whoever and whatever was in the clearing. Breanna drew back her thoughts. So, the male thought of this as “his” tree. She looked at Shaylee and this time used the mental link as to not make any sounds. “It is in fact a male.” “He thinks of this ash tree as “his” and is wondering who can have come to be so deep in the forests of the Spine. He does not seek trouble or a fight, just the shelter the tree can offer before the storm begins.” "We shall proceed with caution.” "He is moving towards us.” With a quick, quiet movement, Breanna sheathed her sword and retrieved her bow and arrow. She knocked an arrow with blinding speed, pulled back until the feather tickled her ear.
