I agree with you all re; Murtagh and the egg or hearts of hearts, or getting info to the Varden about how to defeat Galby.
I think that besides being basically a good man, he still thinks Eragon is his full brother and he will also resent the fact that Galby took over his body to kill Oromis.
But I think that the most important change to his character will come through his relationship with Nasuada.
If anything can change a person, Love can.

apart from what everyone said he may also be redeemed by releasing shruikan from the dark magic that bound him with galbatorix. I hope shruikan will be good again and secretly know glaedr.

that was quite a long speach and it makes sence but darkm98was right it dose lead to simpathy and not hate i think but you are right the real only way to completly redeam himself is to kill galby then himself

i hope that just helping eragon to kill galby/get the third egg/reveal the location of the vos will be enough, i rly dont want any more dragons/riders to die (except for galby he can go die in a hole; i do however hope shruikan can somehow become good, cuz he did nothing to deserve this)

i think that he will redeem himself as he dies. i think that he will get in the way when galby is about to finish off eragon, which will give eragon enough time to kill galby.

Well, i think ( and I don't happen to have any great ideas) that maby eragons dream about leaving alagesia is about him and riser of green dragon going after murtag(sp?) to try to bring him back, like the only way to break the "bond" is to leave and eragon and whoever else go to try to stop him and bring him back, or maby they are trying to capture and kill murtag(sp?)

Murtagh is too far gone to change any more. In the last book we saw he has given up hope and I think Galbatorix has taken all precautions as he saw what happened with Selena to let his most prized subject get away from him. In Eragon's dream we see a man screaming on the shore. I think this is Murtagh, who survived the final battle with Thorn gone. Unlike, Brom however, I think Eragon will have defeated him and with the help of the elves and/or the next rider will bind his magic, through Eragon learning the true name of the ancient language. Murtagh will suffer Sloan's fate to wander to some far off place alone and to have to live with the demons of his past.

I doubt Thorn and Murtagh will die, because CP said in interview that they will have a much larger and more important role in book 4.

Just, because they have a larger and more important part, doesn't make them good characters. Now I could be wrong about it being Murtagh and it being Galbatorix, but I don't think so. In the end as I said Eragon will leave with a woman and two dragon's flying overhead, if Murtagh goes good he would have been mentioned in the part as leaving to, as he would not let his young brother leave without him. If Murtagh does betray Galbatorix he will die. IMO he is a survivor and no matter what he will do what is best for him and Thorn. He won't help the Varden until he is sure he can get away from Galbatorix, which I don't think can happen.

Murtagh could cange his true name Eragon, Saphira, Arya and some other dragon could die leaving Alagaesia and Murtagh could teach the new rider.

*Sigh*Yes he can I give you that. Now, with all the thought after Murtagh finding a loop hole, Galbatorix made sure Murtagh could not be free again. I think that he would have done what was said Galbatorix would have found a way to have an alarm if you will if Murtagh changed his true name and would capture and hold him again until he could figure out his new one. Galbatorix will not let his most important servant get away. It is the sad truth for Murtagh, but I don't see him becoming a free man anymore.

I don't think that oath was in the ancient language so it is not binding except that not to honour it would damage Eragon's honour.

I think murtagh will help kill galby and be redeemed and eragon will train him and the new rider.

But i dont think that he will let murtagh go after killing Oromis and gladur he will be super super ticked and stab murtagh through the face the do the same to galby but then de capatate him and trap his soul in a gem and then throw it to the bottom of the ocean so he can be terrorized for the rest of eternitey

that is the only fair punishment that or capture him let shrukin mate then torture hem to the brink of death then give him a long nurturing recovery then torture to the brink of death and repeat it over and over again then finaly use an old rusty dull sword and slice it verry so slowly overhis neck so he is in unmeasurable pain while being wipped untill he dies

1. From what we know of Eragon's character he won't torture anyone.
2. You can't remove anyone's souls from their body. When the body dies so does the soul the one exception is dragons who souls die when the eldunari 'dies'.

We also have to remember that Eragon's (or anyone's) visions of the future are not 100% accurate.
In eldest, Arya told Eragon of an elf that had a vision he would kill his son in battle, and then killed himself to prevent it from happening.
Likewise, if something happened to change what otherwise would have been the future, it could change. So let's say that Eragon's vision was based on the fact that Murtagh was working for Galby, if he redeemed himself, that could change the future.
CP also said this in an interview on shur'tugal.com. (and probably explained it better than I did )
