I'm wondering,

Are you guys aware that we have 4 pages on Chat Board ???

Because, I've been here since Dec 6, and now I find the same topic been created and re-created again. Like the ones with... 'where do you come from' and 'embarassing moments' and 'chit-chat' and 'jokes'

Would you please... pleassseeee look at the existing posts before creating one ...........

I know I'm nobody here, and I don't have any rights to 'command' you or anything and I don't wish to command you or anything too. I asked this because, I myself, in my first weeks here, didn't realize that we have pages on Chat Board

ya but some ppl just dont want to go through 4 pages of post its kinda boring.

It's not boring, it's fun to see other's idea and see other posts. And by looking through all topics we show our care and respect to the whole forums and forum members.

For example, you can always make a new "Post your Picture" topic, but you can't see the previous pictures of our friends (the topic is now at page 2), the precious picture's will be like "scattered". Same as if you asked "where are you from", the old topic is already reach 4 pages (for instance), so then if you create the new one, the precious information about the other members will be splitted up.

I hope you got the idea..

I don't like having too many topic, but it is nice. The topics sometimes get too big and when there is a new one we have new points of view that show up.

I agree with louis. If a topic gets too big, it's a pain for some people to read every, single rply, so they make their own. But I also aggree with the fact that 4 or more of the same topic isn't right. I think this is how it should be:


e.x: Chat section
Sports: 1 2 3....14 15
Now that topic is quite big, so why not try making a new topic, but make it like this:

Chat section
Sports: 1 2 3....14 15
Sports cont.: 1

It makes a big difference and you aren't really making a new topic. You are just continuing the old one.

Shade of Fear I totally agree with you!! And even better if at the start of the new (continuing) topic, the author puts an url linked to the old one.

I do agree that we need to as a team cut down on making new topics on this chat thingy well yah

everyone is locking all the topics. well most of them.

Lock topics for various reasons...

i.e. I'm thinking of lock the relation ship topic when it reach page 100 (a hundred!!) and start a new one. Quoting Louis, "The topics sometimes get too big and when there is a new one we have new points of view that show up." and Shade of Fear's oppinion together...

Recently I saw several topics that had been pushed a long way back, is now are back to front page! Yay !! I'm so proud of you folks.. keep browsing, I believe you can find more and more interesting subjects back there

Yeah it's inevitable that the total page will be increased.. as long as there's no *too many* double topic I guess it's a nice thing to have various things to talk about.

6 Pages. 6 pages of chat topics. Wow. (in clear eyes voice) Oh and fathskie, some double topics are okay because someone may see a topic long forgotten on the forum and maybe want to make something sililar to it.

we could always revive the topic from the dead !

As long as I'm online, I tend to check on new topics made,, and if I found similar topic, I use to "redirect" the new topic to an existing one.

(But it's quite hard to applied on 'Inheritance Trilogy Section' coz new members almost always creating a thread over and over again such as "Arya + Eragon", "Eragon Leaving Alagaesia", "Third Rider" etc...
But. somehow, the topics need to be re-created. Because the 'old' topics usually already full of people's opinions, so when some newbies join, all their idea had already floored by everyone else, that's why a new fresh page has to be started.)

I agree and like the new Dragonriders and over ranks can only post new topics it will cut down alot and stop spam bots from doing it as well. It wouldn't be pretty if these fourms where like some I know. Take runescapes fourms for example. You've gota like bump your topic(or thread whatever you want to call it) like every hour or its already on page like 20/50 and in the help section they'l have the same question asked in like 5 diffrent threads in a row when its one of the stickys on the front page! Then I hardly think the creator of that thread can even find it again because most don't ever post on it again. I usualy try to avoid keeping track or creating topics on runescape fourms because it filters so much and so fast.

I don't know Runescape, but I have an idea of the 1000's if not 10000's that use it, so it must sift down through the pages pretty quickly... It's a good job we don't have that!!!

We should issue a warning for posting a similar topic within the same page... prove that the poster didn't actually read (meaning they didn't care) for other posts.

Ya, i agree with fathskie, newbies need to post their own ideas in new topics. but a whole bunch of them, we dont need that.

I think that scrolling through 4 pages is boring...............

well if you want to revive one of them you are free to do so, but I guess no body would know who posted in them since the members that were on originally "except for myself" have since became inactive

i thinks the locked topics should be sent to the garbage bin once they reach near the bottom

I like locked topics exacly where they are. Don't know why, i just do.
