Guitar
This is the guitar topic. All discussions related to guitars, guitarists, etc. can be discussed here.
Ok,
I'm not a guitarist. I play bass guitar. Sid plays guitar and bass. Wel we're like brothers anyway =P.
I have a Yamaha TRB in red. Its perhaps (from my point of view) the best bass out there. If your into rock or blues, this should be brilliant for you.
My favourite bassist is Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers. He's AMAZING.
Hmm, Id say Im a good bassist but Sid's better at both guitar (obviuosly) and bass!
He has 5 guitars. My personal favourite is his Washburn Signature Anarchy. He has Gibson, and two acoustics I dont know. Semi-electric acoustics. The rest are all electrics.
We had a band but I left because well at that point.... I wasnt very good. Lol. The band is called Zilch. Sid's the lead guitarist but he plays rythum too but he prefers making the guitar cry and moan rather and make it pump (if you know what I mean ).
I never understood how lead guitarists can learn all those scales... Major DIatonics and Pentatonice and minor Harmonics and melodics.... *heads spinning*.
My favourite guitarist of all time is definately Yngwie Malmsteen.
I love his fast harmonic solos... Awesome.

Re: Guitar
I play guitar, I have a bass that I occasionaly play, and a sweet drum set. I like Flea a bunch, I don't have a favorite guitarist, but I like: Hammett, Herman Li, Eddie Van Halen, Angus Young, Gabriel Garcia (Is that his name??, the guitarist/ singer of Black Tide), Alexi Laiho, Dave Mustaine, Frusciante (sp?). I mainly like metal, not that crappy nu, mainstream metal, but pretty much everything else (Power, Death, Speed, Thrash, Hair... etc) :b(<Switching it up right there) I could go on and on about music..
Edit: ^Not that mainstream music is bad.

Re: Guitar
I play guitar and I have a Olympic White Fender Stratocaster. I'm okay i guess, I dont really know where you get really good. I really enjoy playing stuff like Rage Against The Machine, Rise Against, 3 Doors Down, Street Sweeper Social Club, The Clash, Coheed & Cambria, Foo Fighters, Incubus, stuff like that. My favorite guitarist has got to be Tom Morello. That guy is amazing.

A couple of years ago i tried to learn how to play the guitar, but i wasnt that into it so i gave to my cousin. i dont know what he did with it after that. i think it was a Fender but im not sure.

Re: Guitar
Playing the guitar looks really fun, so I plan on getting one eventually and learning to play a bunch of my favorite songs. I think I'm going to start on acoustic and learn to play electric when I feel ready.

Re: Guitar
you should realy learn to play on acoustic because it is harder so when and if] u make the transition to electric itll be easier [so says my dad and some other people] i play acoustic [only chords but i cant do barr chords they HURT] im not like...santana or bb king or les paul [theyr old but they are AMAZING] but my daddy says hel get me an electric for my bday [38 days!!!] but i rlly enjoy it
I tried playing guitar just now, and it was so epic fail, I can't even explain. It was acoustic, too. I was trying to play Your Guardian Angel by the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. The guitar wasn't tuned though, so I couldn't really tell if I was playing it right. Whatever, I guess I'm just not musical.

Re: Guitar
you just need to keep with it. yea, so i just got my guitar this January, but I've been playing for a while. It just comes with time. It's not an easy instrument. don't just give up! go to a local guitar store or a friend and ask them if they could tune it for you. that's what i did and I'll never regret it.

Re: Guitar
The only guitars I was ever interested in were Bass and Acoustic, I never really found Electric interesting, with the exception of when it's used in a more abstract way such as in drone metal / noise.
Of course there are exceptions, some songs / bands / guitarists pull it off amazingly.

Re: Guitar
Guitar isnt something which comes instantly. Everyone has their own speed. Some are fast learners and some are slow.
Chimra - Lol. Dont worry, your not the only one. EVERY SINGLE GUITARIST goes through the same phase which your going through right now... The only thing is never to give up. It may be painful but in a week of hard practice, you'll be wanting to play some rather weird chord progressions and challenge yourself.
Personally, I believe the way to conquer anything (as in ANYTHING) is never to succumb to the pain and hardships faced in achieving your goal. I love challenges. In fact, when I dont like something and yet have to do it, I say to myself "Cmon... This is just any other challenge. I will not lose. " And thats how I achieve whatever I want.
Nida - You might fail at once. Dont try to play songs of Red Jumpsuite Apppartus if your just a beginner . I suggest your practice simple rythums like A major and E major rpeatedly until in 1234 1234 metronome beats. Once you get the hang of that, try adding D major too the song (=.
Remember.... "Without pain, there aint no game. Without challenge, there aint no fun. Only when you fall, shalll you rise... And only then will Victory bow down before you and submit to you. ..."
Shintaro - I agree. Electrics are amazing but nothing beats the good ole hollow and warm sound of an acoustic guitar. (=

Re: Guitar
As I said above, though, I do love Electric when it's used in ambient / drone.
Here's a perfect example of some beautiful drone, this makes me well up inside. <3
