I do not think he will go on a ship, but he may die. It would be an interesting twist if both he and galbotorix killed eachother in one moment, and it would draw the book away forom a predictable ending.

I too am going by the prophecy and Incomer, HI THERE! But sad endings suck! Look what a terrible outcome JK Rowling's two last books have had. I love her and hate her at the same time. She better do good to Harry in ther final book or else...

it could still be a sad ending to one book but if he is planning on writing oterh it would be a great setup for the next book

I am thinking that it will be the third egg when it finally hatches and it will be for Arya.

ok but then what happens to murtagh

The way I see it there may be two possible outcomes;

1. Either Murtagh and Thorn die or
2. Both are released from the bonds that tie them to Galbatorix once Galbatorix is dead or following this same line of thought, Eragon and Arya find a loophole as to free Murtagh.

That is a possibility. If Murtagh is the man on the beach he may be in pain for a couple of reasons:
- either Eragon IS his full blood brother and he is left (his only remaining full blood family) alone, even though this would make Roran his cousin.

OR

Thorn has died in the battle.

OR

Saphira is leaving with Thorn (and the enchantment or spelled has been released by Galbatorix's death or by Eragon and the elves) to begin a new race of dragons

OR

The third dragon egg was destroyed during the battle or by Galbatorix.

You know what would add some real drama? If either Thorn or Murtagh was released from the oath to Galby. Then, Galby was still in control of one, and made them kill the other. Then, they would probably rather commit suicide causing the other a lot of pain anyway.

I'm almost positive now that Eragon won't die, but Murtagh...thats a different story. I think Eragon might have to choose. His blood brother or his best friend ever/cousin.

That would be a biggie if it happened. At the closure of Eldest, Eragon and Roran agree to be "Brothers." I keep on hoping Murtagh is only his half brother.

of course if Eragon did have to choose it would make the book a heck of alot more exciting and maybe he could come up with a way to save them both
