No, in those pages in Eldest, Eragon Makes a picture of Arya that shows how he thinks of her. SHe gave it to her, and he got angry and threw it on the floor. Eragon asked Oromis what he did wrong and why Arya dosn;t like him. Oromis says that YES ARYA LIKES HIM, but she's so cold because she thinks it will not work out and only end in sorrow.

OK. My bad. Well, I guess we won't really know until bk 4

anyway, whether she "showed" feelings or not is based on eragon's pov, which is what the book is written in, so technically arya could be saying something totally different.

Arya is as much in love with Eragon as he is with her. The biggest reason why Arya has not been as upfront as Eragon has is because of Faolin and his death. When Eragon was talking to Lifaen, he noticed how "dark and somber" she looked and asked him why was she so sad because he felt like comforting her. Lifaen basically told him, he couldn't say without her permission. At that point and all throughout Eldest, Arya had not recovered from Faolin's death and she seems the type that is very loyal so she rebuffed Eragon's clumsy advances. In Brisingr, the fact that she was able to tell Eragon about Faolin when she wasn't in Eldest is a sign that she is finally starting to recover from his death and show some affection for Eragon herself.

There is everything to imply it. Arya's aloofness, Lifaen's words to Eragon, the black morning glory, the picture of the mysterious elf in Arya's apartment, her distress at Faolin's death and Arya's hesitation when she was expressing her concern to Eragon before he was fighting Murtagh and more.

they still don't belong together. they're just two different people from two different worlds with two different views on two separate lives.

That's I meant by chasing Eragon. Often in the scenes where Arya is showing her true feelings for Eragon, she is very much going out of her way for him. Personally, I thought we were going to have to wait for the next book before I saw Eragon comfort her not only once but twice.

Just one. This is what Eragon told Roran.

"I cannot in good conscience marry a woman who will age and die while I remain untouched by time ; such an experience would be equally cruel for both of us. On top of that, I find the thought of taking one wife after another throughout the long centuries rather depressing."

Here's another thing to add to that. Eragon's instincts if you will told him it was Arya long before he figured it out but he didn't realize it. This scene is from Eldest:

Arya looked at him. Eragon met her gaze, and something lurched within him. He flushed without knowing why, feeling a sudden connection with her, a sense that she understood him better than anyone other than Saphira. His reaction confused him, for no one had affected him in that manner before.

Throughout the rest of the day, all Eragon had to do was think back on that moment to make himself smile and set his insides churning with a mixture of odd sensations he could not identify.

Not if he doesn't want another woman. That's just a waste of his and somebody else's time. He hasn't bothered Arya with his feelings since the end of Eldest. He already has moved on (at least from doing that), but he's still in love with her.

My suspicion is that's not going to happen. The books among other things tell me that Eragon and Arya have unresolved romantic tension issues. They've been somewhat honest but not fully and certainly not to the point where either of them can move on.

I agree with everyone who says they will be. Since she's gonna be the next rider & will have a male dragon, Saphira will have to mate with that dragon, so called "Greenie" and it would make sense that Eragon & Arya get married.
