Phalynx, the silver dragon

Name: Phalynx

Age: story begins at her birth, she is about five now

Gender: female

Skills: Sight: Phalynx has the ability to see in different ways, ways that no other dragon can. She can see all forms of light, from x-ray to gamma, infrared to ultraviolet. She can also see magic in its true form, an ability that allows her to avoid magical attacks and manipulate magical energy directed at her. She can see the Shadows as well, such as those from the Shadow Realms. Phal's sight allows her to see things happening a great distance away occasionally, though not very often. Sometimes she has visions of the future, but only if it concerns her, and usually in a metaphorical version. (Like she'll see a star as herself, and something happening that represents something to come.) It allows her to sense where she is needed throughout all of Alagaesia, and she is able to travel to places simply because of her instincts. She can also enter the minds of others and "purge" them of evil controllers. The evil controller in question can re-enter the being's mind after this, if they are not strong enough to ward them off.
Starfire: Phal discovered her gift of starfire at the age of about eight months. She also possesses normal dragonfire, but dragonfire is not as strange or powerful as her starfire, and she doesn't use it any more. Starfire looks like burning starlight, and glows silver. It is able to inflict damage general to fire, but is also capable of damaging spectral creatures (as evidenced in my fanfic: Phalynx: Quest of the Stars) and creatures in the Shadow realm and made of shadow. It is more of a flame of light than heat, and is very magical.
Starlight: Because of her affiliation with the stars, Phal has other abilities as well. She can make her scales glow with bright silver light, like starlight. This can be a disguise while flying, or a means of blinding enemies or giving light to friends.
Magic Manipulation: She has the ability to manipulate magic directly, without use of the Ancient Language. Though, because she does not use the Ancient Language, she can only manipulate magic that she sees, and her power over it is not extremely great. Due to this skill, she is talented at breaking through wards and preventing magical attacks on herself. With concentration, she can also transform any natural magic into healing magic and heal wounds with it.
Gamma Radiation: Phal can emit weak gamma radiation from her scales, which causes enemies to feel nauseous and dizzy. It is especially effective against shadow creatures. She also possesses two last resort weapons that use gamma rays. Her Gamma Ray Fire is a last resort weapon that infuses her normal starfire with intense gamma radiation, which instantly kills whatever it hits. This is used as a concentrated attack against one enemy. Her Gamma Ray Pulse is where she emits a huge blast of gamma radiation from her scales. It kills everything surrounding her, but since this would also include her friends, she can't use it as often. Both of these attacks leave her unconscious for hours after using them, and she can only call upon them when her life is threatened.
Phal's Normal Skills: Flight: Phalynx's greatest physical attribute are her gigantic wings. Though they are quite oversize and slow her down while running, they allow her tremendous flight speed and agility. They also give her the ability to fly amazingly high. She is also very agile and very flexible, which allows her to dodge most attacks and contort in very advantageous ways in battle.
Flying Height: Phal can fly higher in the atmosphere than any other dragon, for several reasons. The most obvious is of course the size of her wings and her light body allow her to travel with ease where the air is thinner. Also, she has a very efficient air intake system, which is partially a natural trait and partially the result of conditioning. Also, she is the only dragon who can fly safely above the ozone layer, for she is resistant to all forms of radiation. (As she can emit and see these forms of radiation, this would only make sense.)
Her intelligence and sense of goodness are also so strong that they aren't really normal, but they aren't magical. They are her most treasured skills and tools, even more so than her powers. Phal is extremely clever, and can think of numerous ways to outsmart and outmatch any enemy. Her own sense of right and wrong, as well as her pure heart, also make her a very dangerous force for good in the universe. (Though it can also lead her into some rather dangerous situations, as well.)

Eyes: bright, fiercely intelligent green. Her right eye also has a flecked stripe of gold going from the top left to bottom right of the iris. She can make her eyes glow with blinding or warming golden light.

Home Village: born in Hadarac desert

Parents: she discovers that she is the daughter of Navarre and Fowlein

Siblings: Phal is the half-sister of the ancient golden dragon Faefnir, and sister-in-law of his mate Star Gazer; she is also sister to Ramoth

Character Personality: Phalynx is very intelligent and loves to learn. She wants to know everything about her race and her history. She is a good student and listens carefully to her "teachers". Phalynx yearned to fly before she was able, and when she did, she learned she was a natural. She loves to fly and would never come down if she could help it. Phalynx also is energetic and enthusiastic, but compassionate as well. She likes to help those in need. This can be a weakness as well; she is prone to falling into traps while trying to help others. Phalynx is resilient, at least where willpower is concerned. She can endure through the power of her mind and can stand against anything that she wills herself to. Phalynx is young and eager, but is horrified by the evils of the world. She cannot understand why anyone would want to cause pain to others. Phalynx opposes the darkness and wants to do all that she can to rid the world of evil. When she learns of her mission, to protect the land and watch over it, she rises to it with her whole being. She loves to make friends, and if she could she would turn her enemies into friends. Phalynx is a hard worker and loves her freedom and individuality. She is very determined and always accomplishes the tasks that she sets her mind to. Phalynx can seem a little too pure and good at times, and she has been captured/picked out several times for it by enemies of her family and friends who wish to hurt them. When dealing with others, Phalynx is amazingly calm and collected. It takes a lot to get her to lose her temper, and she has only done so at the most once or twice. She is persistant and determined, and never backs down from a challenge, even if she is risking her life. She would lay her life down in a heartbeat for a noble cause, whether that be ridding the world of some great evil or saving the life of a beloved friend. She has a tendency to get herself involved in as many things as possible, and though it may be a bit nosy, she views this as her responsibility to her mission.

Character History: Phalynx does not know her own history at first, but wants to discover as much as she can. She was born in the Hadarac Desert with no knowledge of her past; only herself and two strange talents that help her learn. She often observed the world while in her egg, more so than a normal dragon. As Phalynx grew in her eggshell this power increased and she gained the ability to "see" things far away, as they are happening, and sense creatures that are coming or going, or far-off events. She can also see infrared and ultraviolet light, which makes her an effective hunter. She also has visions of the past sent to her from her dragon ancestors while in her egg. Through these she learns that both of her parents were wild dragons, but believes that they were killed by the Empire. She has visions of the Dragon Riders and of their fall, but mainly of the hunting of wild dragons. Phalynx guesses that her egg was hidden in the Desert because her parents wanted to keep her safe from the Empire and their dragon hunters. Phalynx wants to learn all that she can about her history and the dragon race. She wants to know more about her past, but this will be difficult. Phalynx strives to be like her wild dragon ancestors, and desires no rider. She must survive in the harsh desert world where her life began, and has no knowledge of her past save what she has learned from her visions, which were most frequent while in her egg. Her visions are a bit less frequent now, but still help her greatly. Her parents may still be alive somewhere, but Phalynx doubts that they are. However, she keeps the hope deep in her heart that she may one day see them again. She also nurses hopes of seeing other free dragons, and possibly a mate.

Phalynx has now discovered her origins as the half-sister to Faefnir. She has joined him in the royal family with his mate Star Gazer, their children Navarre and Terranor, and their friends Emrhyst and Aelir. Phal has also made friends with many, including Star, Emrhyst, and Aelir's riders, Aeraldi, Arden and Erais, Fenerixes and Mesaraih, Equinox, Quasar, Eris, and the Ohnyaeli Dragonfly and Chris. She has met many more dragons, riders, and other hominids on her travels, some of which became her enemies, such as Rimfax, Nilarek, Crimson, Kuja and Selris, and Thorn and Murtagh. She has learned new abilities and proven herself as brave, intelligent, and loyal many times.

She recently became very good friends with a dragon named Elcyon, and it was on a journey with her that she learned of potentially how dangerous her powers can be...

While in a battle with Nilarek, she realized her true feelings for the dragon Aeraldi, and is now deeply in love with him. He has taken her mission on as his own, making her more happy than she could ever have imagined. She laid three eggs, which later hatched into four young dragons: Alna'ir, Sirius, Polaris, and Saiph. All four possessed special talents inherited from their parents, and all displayed amazing skills in flight, intelligence, integrity, and the desire to do good. In short, they made their mother proud. Phal spent her time partially in her valley, watching over her children and teaching them, and part outside, continuing her mission. Eventually, the four hatchlings turned into fledgelings, and her children left on their own adventures. Phal has already gone on some missions with her kids.

Weapons: Phalynx, of course, has her teeth, claws, tail, and wings. These she uses immediately after birth to try and survive. She must learn how to breath fire like her ancestors, and this will become an important weapon. Her intelligence and willpower can be counted as weapons if she uses them to her advantage. She possesses powerful magical weapons because of her star-affiliation, and can manipulate magic, possibly as a weapon against her enemies.

Likes: Phal loves to fulfill her duty as watcher and guardian of the land. She loves Aeraldi, and spending time with him. Phalynx loves to learn, and wants to learn about her past. She also has a great love of flying when she learns how, and is quite good. Phalynx can't say no to a creature or person in need, and likes to help others, especially her half-brother Faefnir and the royal family of Dragon Mountain. She loves all of her friends, and likes meeting new friends.

Dislikes: Phal dislikes all evil, and fights it with all of her being. She specifically dislikes the Shadow Realms, Rimfax, Nilarek, Galbatorix and his plots, and anyone else who would hurt her friends. She also doesn't like conformity, cruelty, or quitters. She greatly dislikes traitors, for she is a very trusting dragon and takes it personally when she is betrayed. She also has a fear of dungeons and being entrapped, developed when she was trapped in the prisons under Kumaraq's fortress. She has a great, and very understandable, dislike of Rigel. After all; his main goal in life is to kill her and her family and friends.

Animal Companions: none, for now at least

Character's Physical Description: Phalynx has bright silver scales and fiercely intelligent, bright green eyes. Her scales look like solidified starlight, a unique shade of silver. One of her eyes also has a fleck of gold going across the iris from the top left diagonally down to the bottom right. She has large, strong wings and is an agile and fast flyer. Her wings seem a little too large for her body, in fact. She is good at climbing on the ground. Phalynx likes to roam at night for she is afraid her bright scales may give her away during the day. She also has ivory-colored claws, spines, and teeth.

Dreams for Future: Phal wants, more than anything, to rid the world of evil and protect it from the shadows. She dreams of spending her future with Aeraldi. Phalynx wants to learn all she can about her ancestors and her place in this world. She also wants to help rid the land of Galbatorix and his cruelty. She wishes for her kind to become strong once more.

Reasons for Dreams: Phal's mission is to protect the land; it is the reason she was gifted with her powers. She is in love with Aeraldi and would like nothing more than to carry out her mission with him, and to spend the rest of her life with him. Phalynx loves to learn, and thinks that knowledge she gains will help her and those around her. She wants to help creatures and cannot stand the cruelty Galbatorix has shown towards other beings, especially her race. She wants to see dragons strong once more, because she is a dragon and wants to meet others like her.

Alignment/Side: Phalynx is on the side of dragons, especially those of the Royal Family, her family. She is always on the side of her friends, and on the side of Light and goodness.
