The Healing Mist
OOC: At the moment this is between FE, and me, unless FE says otherwise.
Thunder rumbled in the distance, and rain began pelting down, quick, and hard. On the road was a group, traveling from one city in the Empire to another. Among them was the target. The group would go through a patch of trees soon, and that was when the Assassin would strike. Closer they came, - close enough for Atlanta to smell each individual, and know which of the twenty-odd people there was her target.
Atlanta didn't know the last time she had killed, but it had been too long. She knew that she may go bloodthirsty, and kill more than her target, but she didn't care. She wasn't getting paid for this job after all, so it wouldn't matter if she overdid it a little. Atlanta extended her blades, and got in position, predicting within a couple of feet where her target would pass. The group approached quicker than she had anticipated – probably wanting to reach the shelter of the trees because of the storm. Atlanta's eyes sparked in excitement, and the light of blood-lust touched them.
The target stopped beneath Atlanta's tree. This job would be too easy. Atlanta was behind her target in the blink of an eye, and had stabbed him in the heart before anyone could react. The job had been far too easy – Atlanta had wanted to see her target's last look of horror, but had not been able to. Atlanta's eyes sparked again, and she attacked the nearest person to her, becoming more like a blood-thirsty monster than a person.

Re: The Healing Mist
Arcenis sat on Lyseria's saddle, contemplating his father's and brother's whereabouts. Now that he had escaped the Beors, he should probably resume his search. As such, things obviously weren't going to work out as he planned. They never did. Arcenis's head snapped up in a second at the ominous feeling. Multiple presences were disappearing, and a single man's shout could be heard.
What do you think it is? Lyseris queried.
Arcenis examined the woods the shouts had come from. The minds vanished one after another, so there was only one attacker. The rain obscured clear sight, and the trees and foliage were thick, whcih prevented a great deal of sight as well. However, Arcenis didn't need to see with his eyes to know what was going on. "The weather is perfect for...Assassination," he murmured in response.
Lyseria's eyes widened. Your father and brother? she asked quietly.
Arcenis shook his head sadly. No, it's just an old friend he thought. Drop me off in the thickest parts of the trees he asked politely, and she raised her eyebrows in suspicion, but she abided his command. Arcenis descended through the trees silently and caught himself on a branch before letting go and hitting the ground softly.
Dead bodies were located throughout the area, and Arcenis raised his eyebrows at Atlanta. "Were these people all apart of your assignment?" Arcenis sighed, but he already knew the answer.

Re: The Healing Mist
Atlanta didn't look up from the dead bodies when Arcenis arrived. She had finished killing off everyone seconds before he had gotten there. Atlanta lifted a hand covered in blood, and clenched it. "One week." she said. "I survived one week without killing. The killing... I can't make it stop. If I don't kill then I become a monster when I smell blood. Atlanta turned around, her clenched fist trembling slightly. "I was told to kill one only, and this is what happened." she said, cleaning her blades off, and allowing them to slide back into her arms. Atlanta's eyes held a look of regret, and longing - a longing to be free of her need to kill. "What brings you here?" Atlanta asked, looking at the Shadow Hunter. After leaving the Beors, Atlanta had doubted that she would see the Shadow Hunter again, but here he was - for which she was almost glad. Her desire for blood had begun to calm as soon as she felt his presence, though it hadn't gone completely away until she had killed everyone. Arcenis was the one person Atlanta couldn't kill - why she didn't know, that was just the way things were.

Re: The Healing Mist
Arcenis looked around him. Trees surrounded him, which provided a decent enough shelter from the rain. Lyseria was around thirty yards away, hidden. Atlanta looked like she regretted her actions. "I felt multiple presences disappear, and I was drawn to this location. Your urge to kill is something you have grown up with, so I imagine it must be hard to resist, but it isn't impossible." Arcenis hesitated, "I know you want to be freed of that urge to kill, and I want to help you do so," Arcenis admitted.

Re: The Healing Mist
Atlanta's eyes held a spark of hope when Arcenis spoke. Perhaps it was possible for her to lose this need, this foul desire to kill. If Arcenis was the one helping her then it could be possible. Atlanta blinked. Where did that come from? Atlanta shook her head. "I do not want to waste your time." she said, though she didn't really want Arcenis to leave when he was the first one to actually say he wanted to help her get rid of her drive to kill. Atlanta shivered, and wrapped her heavy cloak around herself. The rain continued to pour down, as if it would never stop. Atlanta looked around for a dryer spot. Being under the trees was much better being out in the open, although the rain still fell pretty hard in the woods.

Re: The Healing Mist
Arcenis shrugged his shoulders. "I don't consider it a waste of time. I'm helping someone, aren't I?" he asked, a small smile on his face. He knew that she would probably want him to free her of that desire but probably wouldn't outright say it. He laced his hands together behind his head. Arcenis glanced at the skies which were mainly obscured by the trees. However, the small amount of rain drops that did manage to make it through the trees landed on his face and dripped down his cheeks. There might even be a storm.
"Before I help you though, there is someone I would like you to meet," Arcenis began. At his tone, Lyseria took the message and walked through the thick woods. Lyseria dipped her head slightly. I am Lyseria she introduced.
"You two might have met earlier had it not been for Wulfe's barrier," Arcenis explained.

Re: The Healing Mist
Atlanta eyes held a look of gratitude, though her face showed no other emotion. For the first time in her life Atlanta felt that she had a friend. She didn't exactly know what made a friend - her own definition was someone she had no desire to kill, and Arcenis was the first person she had met like that. Atlanta blinked when the dragoness approached. Atlanta had failed to notice the dragoness' presence completely - which was probably a good thing when she was still driven by her blood lust. "I am Atlanta" the assassin said when Lyseria introduced herself. Atlanta's gaze fell on the slaughtered people, and her look darkened. Wordlessly Atlanta extended her blades, and knelt on the ground to begin digging graves. It was all she could do to pay back those who's lives she had taken. The ground was soft from the rain, but Atlanta knew it would still take a long time to finish. If there had been no rain she would have burned the bodies, and buried their ashes, but there was no way she could do that now.

Re: The Healing Mist
Pleased to meet you Lyseria greeted, dipping her head in a slight bow. Noticing Atlanta's actions, Arcenis couldn't help but smile. If he had had any doubts before that she resented killing, they were all gone now that he saw her respectively digging graves for the people she had killed. That was a good step. Arcenis knelt down and helped as well. The ground was soft from the rain, so it wasn't hard to pick and throw the mass amount of soil and rocks. He could have done this through magic, but that would be too easy. It wouldn't do anyone justice by fixing everything with magic.

Re: The Healing Mist
Atlana's eyes held gratefulness, as she looked at Arcenis, and said a quiet "Thank you." Normally this time of burial seemed to pass very slowly, but somehow now it seemed to going quicker. A couple of hours later, when the last of the bodies had been buried, Atlanta sat down with her back against a tree. She took in a deep breath. The smell of death filled the air. Normally Atlanta would have enjoyed it - the smell being sweet to her - but now it seemed bitter, and began to reek a little. When had the change begun? she wondered. She glanced at Arcenis, and remembered. It was the first time she spared someone. "What are you?" she asked in wonder. Somehow he was changing her merely by being there. Atlanta didn't understand how, or why, but she was glad. Perhaps he could free her of the drive to kill.

Re: The Healing Mist
OOC: It's just an idea right now, but what do you think would happen if Arcenis were to be kidnapped?
IC: Arcenis fixed the ground with an emotionless gaze as his mind drifted to Atlanta. Their problems were of the complete opposite nature. She couldn't stop herself from killing, and Arcenis couldn't bring himself to kill someone. It was only recently that he had willingly killed people, but that was because both he and Atlanta had convinced himself that it was for the best. He couldn't face his father and brother with hesitation. If he did, then he would falter, and they would strike him down. He had to be determined in his actions. He smiled to himself; Atlanta was already changing. "Are you going to collect the reward?" Arcenis asked curiously. He wasn't hoping towards a specific answer. He was only curious.
"I don't consider it a waste of time. I'm helping someone, aren't I?" Those were his words, but he was beginning to doubt that they were fully the truth. Sure, he was helping her for the purpose of helping her, but there was another reason as well. He wanted her to be free of her burden, to free her of her anguish. What was she to him?

Re: The Healing Mist
OOC: Wonderful idea! Atlanta would go after him of course! I don't know entirely how she would respond - it would depend on when the kidnapping happened.
Atlanta cleaned the dirt off of her blades slowly, waiting until she had finished that, and pulled them back into her arms to answer Arcenis. "Reward?" she said quietly, almost as if it were a strange word to her. "I have never taken one... Before I escaped Kreme with my brother, my masters took blood money for my work. I never have. Spilling the lifeblood is all the reward I have ever wanted..." Atlanta glanced at her stained hands. "Up until recently that is. Now... I do not want blood or money. I want to repay the families of these people." Atlanta said, waving a hand in the direction of the graves. Parents, children, lovers... Atlanta had killed all types of people, but until now she had never felt the regret of killing - of stealing loved ones from people. Now the regret was strong. Suddenly Atlanta realized something. She had told Arcenis something of herself that she would not have said to another. Why did she feel she could trust him? Especially when she had never been able to trust anyone before.

Re: The Healing Mist
OOC: Maybe halfway through the next page? I just thought about it. Should the person to kidnap him be one of your charries, or mine? Or maybe it could be his brother.
Arcenis listened to her story silently. It was rather odd; she was already so much more different than the person he had met in the Beor Mountains, in terms of her drive to kill. Arcenis wasn't sure how they could repay their families. Even if they had the intention to, locating the families of these people would be difficult, very much so. "Have I told you why I need to kill my father and brother?" Arcenis asked her. She had told him of her past, so it was only fair that he told her of his. Besides, he felt the need to confide in someone at least.
