From how Carvahall and Eragons home town was described....
What did you picture in your head when you read it? And to what depth?
Take your time. I expect posts following this topic to take longer then 5 minutes to write. I will write mine after a few people post.

I pictured it as a small pleasent village in a fairly isolated region often peaceful at times. Though despite being the main protogninsts home town it did not enchanyting what so ever to me it was like a almost a modern town like their were great oppurintinuites (such the one Roran recieved for the Windmill) great and respected people such as Horst and depresed selfish citizesn such as Slaon making it seem like a typical town and not enterilly influnced by the conpet of fantasy. But also based on reactions it alos seems that the descriptions itself wasn't very big in fact it seemed small and kind of in significnat almost as if the town had no real influnce (compared to more desprtove areas like Ellesmera, Terim etc). So Im speuclating that this might have been an indicator that the town would no longer matter to the people some as it does now since it was burned down by the Empire but what else could this inidicate I'm just curious to know

A small town surrounded by mountains and beside a river, with trees all around. everyone is nice to each other (except sloan, but he's a dork). quiet and serene, pleasently peaceful, with only the wind to make sounds. a paradise for those who dislike big cities. a warm sun in the summer, cool automn, cold winters and wet springs. all the resources you'd need were provided by the land itself... definitely my paradise <3

Ummm... I posted a large paragraph on this topic not to long ago. And then I come back to check if anyone else has shared their opinions about this, and I see that my post has been deleted... I was just wondering why that is...
Please, send me a PM.
Thanks.

I thought of it as a small trading town. Sort of like the early villages in Germany. With straw huts and wood houses.

when i read it i thought of like green hills then like a dirt road leading to a village with the little shops and stuff and you could see the mountains in the distance then to get to eragons house you had to walk a long tim to get there wiht a tree lined road and like it wasnt flat land there hillls and stuff cuz thats what it said in the book and it was always green like even though he described it winter times sometimes i saw it like that
