Edolas
Redo...lol.
Name: Edolas
Age: 211
Gender: Male
Skills:
Sight: If he comes into physical contact with people, he can read their fears. He has to touch them with the intent of seeing their fears, however. Fearless characters are unaffected by this ability.
Illusions: Once he sees their fears, he can shift them into an entity; into a reality. Sometimes, the fear is so powerful it paralyzes them shortly. However, this is a difficult illusion, and he has to focus on both maintaining the illusion, and keeping it connected to their fears, so it isn't ideal if he uses this when there is more than one enemy. He is also skilled with other illusions.
Spells: Edolas has an extensive and powerful book on Dark Magic. These spells range from Summoning, Defensive Magic, Necromancy, Elemental Magic, and Spiritual Magic.
Reanimation: Obviously, Edolas cannot bring back the dead, but he can reanimate corpses and control them. The average amount he can control at once is twenty.
Transformation: When in a difficult battle, Edolas has no choice but to allow the demon to take over him. It is a thin version of a dragon, except for it's head, which can strike fear into those who don't have a strong willpower. Despite it being thinner than a dragon, the demon is much stronger and quicker than one. However, once the battle is over, Edolas must rest. Also, there's another side-effect to the transformation: With every transformation, Edolas slightly loses his hold on his humanity, and the seal bonding him and the demon becomes weaker. He can only guess that once the deal is destroyed, the demon will either take over him forever, or separate from him and wreak havoc on all.
Race: Half-Demon, he was an experiment of his master.
Hair: Pure black.
Eyes: Grey
Home Village: Kuasta, he currently has several hideouts located around Alagaesia.
Character Personality: Those who know him, like his followers, describe him as an odd, two-faced being. They say this because while he may seem polite enough one day, the next he might be plotting your death, contemplating on how to make it a painful ordeal. To put it simple, although he is independent, he has recruited followers, who will listen to his every command, short of killing themselves. Edolas doesn’t believe in controlling someone through their true name as that lowers their respect of you and they often follow orders half-heartedly and clumsily through that method. However, don’t let him fool you, as he is quite used to causing pain to the point to where he enjoys it. Some call him insane, and some refer to him as the quote, “…only leader in Alagaesia who has a brain in his skull.” He isn’t a large leader or anything, but he has enough followers to where he could send a comfortable amount of his followers to every single major city in Alagaesia. Edolas wishes to obtain a large amount of power, and to do so, he believes he must find his master’s hideouts, where he keeps his most valuable and powerful possessions. One day, Edolas wishes to destroy Alagaesia. Not through sheer power, however, but through illusions. He can easily use an illusion to cause a riot. This method destroys Alagaesia from the inside, because while Galbatorix may be powerful, he needs his subordinates, whether he recognizes that or not. Without them, he would lose a large amount of his power, and then the rest is child’s play. This plan is an operation known to Edolas and his subordinates as “Operation: Phoenix,” since when Alagaesia is destroyed, it shall be born anew, like a phoenix. Before he attempts this feat, however, he must find his master’s five most powerful possessions, which he has only found one of. Then, he must continue obtaining more followers so that when the time comes, he can quickly rise to political power, in the New Age of Alagaesia he wishes to create.
Character History: Edolas was dropped off at Baine's doorstep as a baby by his parents for reasons unknown. All he knows is that his father was a friend of Baine, and trusted him to a certain extent to train Edolas and shape him up like a civilized child. However, Baine had other things in mind. For years, Baine had been training Edolas in the dark arts, teaching him types of magic like the Ancient Language, to even Blood Magic. Baine's reasons for betraying Edolas's father's trust were simple: he loved experiments. He wanted to make an army of powerful experiments, and Edolas was his lab rat. He had trained Edolas in magic, swordsmanship, and even hand-to-hand combat for years, almost like he was spicing Edolas up to be prepared and powerful enough for the experiment. There had always been one room Edolas was forbidden to go in. Edolas would have tried to go in, but it was blocked by very strong dark magic, making it inaccessible.
Then, one day, when Edolas was 42, he had unknowingly walked into Baine's laboratory. Baine had turned his head, staring at Edolas with an emotionless face, and then the most insane, vile smile crawled up on Baine's face. "You're just in time, Edolas," he had said, and Edolas had felt himself being forced into a pod, which was connected to a pod fifteen feet away from it by a metal chord. Edolas heard banging on the other pod, and then he was forced into the empty one. The door shut behind him quietly. Then, it immediately felt like Edolas's mind was slipping away from him, through the metal chord. After a minute of the unbelievable process, everything went black.
Edolas came to consciousness two hours later, laying on the cold, hard floor. Baine still sat in his lab chair, smiling. "The process is complete! It was a success," he said, followed by maniacal laughter. Edolas's eyes widened, and he jumped up and backstepped, his hands ready, glowing with a black energy, signaling that he was about to attack Baine. After Baine calmed him down, Baine explained to him what had happened, "Look at yourself, Edolas, and tell me that you don't enjoy what you see and the power it has given you," he said. Edolas stared at the wall, which reflected his image. There was the same Edolas, but there was something off about him. He had black wings on his back, about ten feet in length. Edolas had stormed away in false anger; he had actually liked his new power, but Baine had experimented on him, and that wasn't going to be taken lightly. Edolas had found Baine's dead body the next day, but it wasn't Edolas who had killed him.
Edolas immediately went to the room Baine had blocked, and found that the magic had deceased when Baine had died. Living Magic. In that room, he had found the Book of Baine, as well as Haku, and several other experiments. Edolas released them all, and they now remain in his service, as well as his other subordinates. He had taken a particular liking to Haku, and they now travel together. In that hidden room, Edolas had found a map, a map of Baine's other hideouts. So, he was going to go to each hideout, recover all of Baine's most powerful items, and obtain all of Baine's experiments as subordinates, so that he could rise against Galbatorix and the Varden, and issue in an era of his own.
Weapon: The Book of Baine, one of Baine’s, Edolas’s now deceased master, five most powerful items. This book is unlike any other book known in the world in the sense that it has a consciousness of its own. While wielding this book, Edolas’s magic power is amplified, but he can still use magic very well without it. This book is filled with dark magic, and then there’s an interesting portion towards the end of the book, devoted to Edolas’s “collection.” Whenever he finds something or someone that he deems is strong enough to fit well into his collection, he opens the book to the page where the object/person would be stored and slams it into the person or object. They then get sucked into the book. However, to accomplish this, he must make physical contact with the person, and he must have broken through their mind. It is also a long, arduous process which uses up a large amount of his own energy, leaving him hardly enough to accomplish a basic spell in even the Ancient Language. He also has a Shuang Gou(Hook sword) sheathed at his left hip. He is not very skilled with swordsmanship, however, and has the swordsmanship ability equivalent to an average Elf.
Animal Companion: Another creation of Baine, a beast named Haku. It is a mix of a Fanghur, and a Shrrg (large wolf from the Beors). It is two times the height of a horse, standing at fifteen feet tall, and has a wingspan of fifty feet, allowing him to fly. Despite his origin and upbringing, he is very loyal to Edolas, and helps Edolas get around because of his not-so-great endurance. It has soft, black fur and the face and body of a wolf, but it's legs, claws, and wings are that of a Fanghur's.
Like: His subordinates, destruction, plotting.
Dislikes: Traitors. While rare to find in his party, once he finds one, he immediately kills them.
Weakness/Fear: Those who induce fear often have no fear of their own, but Edolas does have two weaknesses. What he said about followers is true with any leader, and without his followers, it would be very difficult to accomplish his plans, which makes him somewhat protective of them, despite his independent and demonic personality. His second weakness came when he was fused with the demon. The demon was very powerful, and it's body structure is much different than a human's. However, when they fused, Edolas's body was the host, and originally, the demon's soul was rejected as it merged with Edolas's. However, Baine had planned for this and had used a powerful, dark magic that forcefully fused their souls. And while Edolas is much faster and much stronger than a human, and even an Elf, his endurance was greatly lowered from the experiment, and he cannot run for more than two miles without having to stop and rest. His animal companion, Haku, helps him get around because of this defection.
Physical Description: In human form, he has gray eyes and black, wavy hair that falls around the sides of his face. He also wears a black and white checkered fedora. He only takes the fedora off when he enters a battle. He stands at around 6'1", and has a thin, powerful build-up. He has a black cloak with a high collar. Under that, he wears a simple black, leather shirt. He has wings, but he hides them under his cloak.
Demon Form: He has black, scale-like wings and a thin body with body parts like a dragon. There is then his head, which is black and hairless, with horns coming out of either side.
Dreams for the Future: To recover Baine's five items and build an army, so that he can take over Alagaesia, and eventually, the world.
Reasons for Dreams: He needs power, and to accomplish his latter dream, which fits to his needs, he must accomplish the former.
