IceBear wrote: Probably, the scene that I felt was rushed a little too much was when they bring Billy Costa back to the camp. It doesn't ever show him dying, I think. All that is done is his mother comes to him and says something like "We'll get your Ratters back!"
Another thing that I was disappointed in was the religion... LOL! Just kidding! No, another thing that I was disappointed at was when they decided not to leave in those last three chapters. For those of you who don't know, there were actually supposed to be scenes from three other chapters in the book on the movie. But, the director decided to cut those scenes and save them for the sequel, The Subtle Knife. Those scenes were my favorite scenes from the book and I really wanted to see them. I like the movie quite a bit actually. Most of what I like has been mentioned already though. I was disappointed with how they the religion, just because they came so close to saying it and then didn't, but that's my opinion.

Well, let's try not to go into religious stuff again.

 Re: Golden Compass
I can't remember- I've read the trilogy, but it was so long ago that I've forgotten everything about it lol. But it's my Dad's birthday today, and he wanted to see this film, so I got it for him on DVD so we can watch it when he comes in from work today

 Re: Golden Compass
Yes, the second book is called The Subtle Knife. It's where Lyra meets up with a new character named Will and together they travel through many different worlds (including our own world) in search of answers to their questions.

 Re: Golden Compass
Yes, he is in every one of them. In our world, they search for certain things and retrieve a certain item. If I really went into detail, I'd spoil the book.

 Re: Golden Compass
Yes, I think that he should have just made a religion up too. And the movie was a bit of a cliffhanger. In some ways I wish they'll make a movie of The Subtle Knife, and in other ways I hope they don't.

Yeah, I think it would be kind of cool to have a daemon that always followed you around. You'd never be lonely.

 Re: Golden Compass
I've always just found them at any book store I've been to. They are pretty common around here. It might not be as such where you are.

 Re: Golden Compass
Well, that's a bit of a shock, but not totally unexpected. It would make sense that a country would have another country's book.

 Re: Golden Compass
the books are great and the movie is visually good but they kind of put chapters before ones they were squel to in the book so it seemed all messed up if you had read the books.

 Re: Golden Compass
I wished they had left that one ending on there. It would have been made much more sense, and it was my favorite scene from the book.

 Re: Golden Compass
I watched the movie on YouTube. It was okay, I liked the books better. I found that the character descriptions in the book versus the movie descriptions was too noticeably off for my liking. I would give the movie a 7 out of 10.
