I just had a weird thought. I have no doubt in my mind that Galby and Murtagh are strong enough that if the next Rider goes up against them using a normal sword, that the sword will break. So this means that they are going to have to find a way to reverse Rhunon's oath so that she can make swords again. Otherwise Eragon and the other Rider are going to be in a bad position. I say this because I don't think the Elven families with the other two Riders swords are going to give them up, because how do they know that the new Rider is going to live long enough to give it back? They'll more than likely keep a tight grip on it and not loan it to them, even though they are Riders.

It is very likely that the weapon under the Menoa tree is Brom's Rider sword, so Eragon is probably going to inherit it.
It's also quite possible that one of the two sword-holding families could be the royal family, or at least an ally of them. If Arya is the new rider (which is very likely), it's possible she will be given one of them.

I dunno... They might give it to her to stop a grudge from happening (remember what everybody in both books said about elves and grudges. *shudder*) I still think that they are going to have to have Rhunon make at least one sword, for the new Rider since Eragon knows where to get his. And here's another thought. I read the excerpt of book 3 that's on alagaesia.com and it made me wonder. Eragon would never, in his right mind, go to fight the Raz'ac without a sword. So I'm thinking he finds it at the beginning of the book since the excerpt is from the 3rd chapter.

The Wyrdfall were the Forsworn, so I doubt Eragon and the next Rider (which won't be Roran, because he wouldn't be able to bear seeing Katrina grow old and die and not be able to go with her) will be using those swords. Anyway, I'm betting that Galby has the other Forsworn swords since they all died and we know that Murtagh has Zar'roc. And Eragon has to get his sword from underneath the Menoa tree, so he won't be using one of the elven family swords. (Unless he gets it from underneath the Menoa FAMILY tree, which is possible.) Maybe the next Rider gets one of the elven family swords, maybe they don't. We won't know until the book comes out. Which had better happen soon!!!

It's not coming out till next summer. Anyway that's what I was saying, The Wyrdafall have one sword, the other elven family which is related to the male has the other.

Noooo, the Wyrdfall are all dead. So they can't have a Rider's sword. Galby was never one of the Wyrdfall, he was their leader, so he didn't rank as one of them. That's why they were known as the THIRTEEN Forsworn. Not the Fourteen Forsworn. It even explains that in Eragon, in one of the very first chapters. The one were Brom was telling that story during the trader's visit. So two different elven families have one sword each.

the Wyrdfell no longer hold the swords. the 2 that are being protected were retrieved from the Wyrdfell. what makes you think that the Wyrdfell still have one? they are both still being protected. And for the last time THERE ISN'T A SWORD LITERALLY UNDER THE MENOA TREE!!! ARYA CONFIRMED THIS!!!

but solembum said to Eragon, "when you are in need of a weapon, look under the roots of the menoa tree". Now Eragons is in need of a weapon, so he'll probably go back to ellesmera and go to the menoa tree. Why else would C.P write that there is a weapon under the menoa tree?

Well, there's been a theory about Solembum meaning Linnea's family tree. It's entirely possible.

Some say that Eragon has already received his weapon: his transformation at the Agaeti Blodhren. They say that he was under the Menoa tree when he was transformed, and because of this, the transformation was his weapon.


However, this is likely not the case for the simple reason that it does not match up with Solembum’s words. First, he must be looking for this weapon, and at that time he certainly was not attempting to find a weapon, he was just watching the ceremony. And along with this, the weapon may have been under the Menoa tree, but it was not under the roots of the Menoa tree, which Solembum specified as criteria for this weapon. So, his transformation likely was not the weapon.


No, it’s much more likely that the weapon will be just that: an actual, physical weapon. Say, a sword or, more specifically, Brom’s sword. Remember, it’s said that Brom lost his sword. Seems like an odd place to lose it, though, under a huge tree far from where the fighting during the Fall (the time when he most likely lost his sword) took place. But then, that’s why we must look someplace else: in this case, the dictionary.


Look at the definition for, "root." In my dictionary, the #3 definition is the word, "origin." Therefore, instead of looking under the physical roots themselves, Eragon must look to the origins of the Menoa tree: two old elven families, both of which are in possession of the swords of old riders that they salvaged from the wreckage of the battles of the Fall. One elven family will have Brom’s sword, which they will gladly give to Eragon when he comes to see them. As for the other elven family with a sword… They’ll give it the third rider, whose green dragon will match the sword in their possession.

brom mite have lost his sword in a fite and said sword mite have been pased down in the winners family and being of elven blood[he most likly was a rider with a dragon] they could be considered as "the roots of the mona tree" but i'm just jummping of a clif here
