Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Okay. Let's go with that, lol IC: Kegan awoke. It was the next morning, and one thing was for sure, he was starving! He also noticed that it was very bright, and hot out. I was beginning to wonder if you'd ever wake up, boy, The dragon said, You've been out for three days. Kegan gasped. He never thought he could be out for so long! The dragon simply assured him by moving his head, and showing the boy the desert.OOC: Should I time-skip again any time soon???

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: lol I think you meant Na'ir when you said Sarah the second time. Nice. And the plan sounds good to me.IC: Na'ir let her wings settle closer to her sides, speeding her dive. She lengthened out the edges and finally caught her descent about a dragonlength above Arcus, and flapped lightly to alight on another ledge in the stone. The strange creature of darkness was below them, hissing and cackling wildly as Arcus shouted at it. The blue dragoness drew herself apprehensively back from it, sensing the instability of the creature. It seemed rather impossible to predict, for she still had no idea what it was, where it came from, or what its motives were. By the frustration in Arcus' demand, he seemed to feel the same way. Without another thought, the creature darted down again, almost disappearing from sight with its speed. What if it's trying to lead us to something? Na'ir suggested, wondering. If that was true, they should kill it quickly, despite the questions they might have. She fluttered off the ledge and began descending again, though she did so with extreme caution.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: I did mean Sarah, but I forgot to mention Na'ir.
IC: Sarah shreiked angrily when she arrived at the clearing and both the dragon and Kegan were gone. She sighed, then cut off through the woods toward Uru'baen. She hoped to cut the dragon off before it could arrive at the dark city with her little friend.
Arcus looked at Na'ir and said, What if it works for Galbatorix and is hoping we will leave it alone os it can report to him? asked the dragon as he dove after the creature with suprising anger, as well as agility.

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Not to sound stupid or anything (but I'm kind of having one of those "oh my gosh I don't know anything right now" moments), but how many post should we take for Kegan and the rest to get to Uru'baen??
IC: Kegan couldn't do anything anymore. The dragon was in complete control, and was being quite confidently snobish about it. There were several occasions where the dragon had threatened the boy with death if he didn't bring up some water for the both of them. Kegan never spoke to the dragon, but just did as it said. Who knew what could happen if he didn't?

Re: A bad feeling
OOC: Ah, I see.
IC: Na'ir snorted and dove alongside Arcus, more determined than ever to catch the creature. That's why we should take it out as soon as possible, she replied. Her vision revealed nothing of danger ahead of them, though she didn't forget that there could be hidden traps. The swift movements below them revealed the creature, though it moved so quickly that it was nothing more than a blur in her sight. Na'ir drew her wings closer to her body and tightened her legs against her sides, increasing her speed. The pit was wide enough for both dragons to dive alongside each other with additional room.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah continued to run through the woods until she came to a large road, one with quite a few people. She sighed at this obsticle, but walked with the flow of the crowd, trying not to draw any attention to herself. However, she did pull her cloak over her head to cover up her slightly pointing ears, as well as well as her face, just to avoid some drunken idiot from making the last mistake of his life.
Arcus dove alongside Na'ir and sent a bright multicolored flame at the swift creature. It barely singed it, but the scream was horrendous. The monster was burned on its back hind leg and it continued to scream. Arcus said, We have to shut that thing up, else the sound will carry! said the dragon as he flew in to try to silence the monster.
OOC: Whenever you want, Kegan, but I do want this to last a pretty good while.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan awoke. He didn't remember falling asleep, so it was a strange experience for him. Around him was a forest. And with the eerie feel of it, he guessed it was in the Empire. He didn't say anything, and he didn't have any fearful thoughts. He already knew any hope of living a good life after encountering Galbatorix was about impossible. He already knew he couldn't be rescued, so why hope? He wasn't strong enough to overpower this dragon, so why should he bother trying?
The dragon must have sensed that the boy was awake, because the mighty black said into his mind Your friend is getting closer to us each day. I'll have to take care of her soon enough. Kegan did not respond, but he did feel a pang of guilt. If Kegan hadn't met Sarah, she wouldn't be in this big mess, and she wouldn't have to be chasing him half-way across the world, and she wouldn't be about to be 'taken care of' for trying to save a worthless hybrid freak.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir hissed as the creature began screaming, hoping it would not draw attention to them but knowing that it probably would. The piercing sound in these normally dead-silent caves would carry like sunlight on the plains. She suddenly caught another sound. It was very brief, but it was enough. Na'ir glanced up, and cried out in surprise. Ringing the hole she and Arcus were diving through were several evil-looking faces. Unnaturally long claws, coated in venom, gripped the ledge and scraped across it eagerly. Arcus! Watch out! Above us! she managed to cry, for at that instant, the dozens of other creatures flung themselves into the hole with no fear or hesitation. And to Na'ir's horror, they fell very, very fast.

Re: A bad feeling
She had arrived. She walked into the small village a few miles outside of Uru'baen and sat down at the end of a bar. She asked for a water but only got an odd look and then a ugly grin. The bartender came over, a hugely grotesque man with a roughly shaven beard and wiht long stringy hair. He said, "Whats this ere? We gots us a pretty un here. Wuts yer name hunny?" Sarah simply looked at him and said, "My name is none of your business, so either get me some water, or go away."
Arcus only had enough time to say unf! before the monsters hit him. Five of the ugly beings landed on his back, wings, and neck. They immediately began to tear at his scales to try and get to the soft flesh underneath. All this happened as the dragon lost his balance and was sent hurtling down the tunnel with the monsters scrabbling all over him.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan awoke from one of his usual pain-naps he had gotten used to in the past while. They were nearing the great and dark city of Uru'Baen. Every day he hoped more and more that'd Sarah would stop following them, but it seemed that she just got closer to them every day, even if she didn't realize it. He wished she'd just leave. She didn't stand a chance against a dragon. He looked down at the ground, realizing that there could be more than his own death in the near future.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir pinned her wings to her body, going into a complete free-fall to avoid being attacked by the beasts. She heard a grunt behind her, and turned her head. Arcus was being covered in the creatures, who were ripping at his scales. The blue dragoness hissed and drew in a breath, hoping that the creature's venom was not in the rainbow dragon's system. Arcus, cover your eyes! she cried, and flipped her body over so that she was falling shoulders-first. Her scales suddenly flashed with blinding light, and she heard the creatures-their eyes used to the pitch-black cavern-shriek in pain and surprise. Na'ir followed her flash of light with a blast of starfire. She quickly worked a spell, one she had practiced before, to protect Arcus from the flame as it washed over him. The creatures, there grips loosened by Na'ir's light, fell off him. We have a little more time now, but we have to get out of this hole! she exclaimed, flipping herself back over to search for an escape.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah sighed as she ran through the forest near the village. She had to "reprimand" the bartender, but in doing so, he somehow managed to die. And also, to add to her bad luck, the bartender was a well liked man. So, now she was in it. She was in the middle of a forest, running from an angry mob of people who would spread word about her going who knows where. It had indeed been a long day...
Arcus did as he was told and tucked his head underneath his wing as he fell. He then saw a bright light, but most of it was shielded by his wing. Then heard the screams of the monsters as a wave of warmth washed over his body. He felt them fall off of him then flapped his wings as fast as possible to catch Alna'ir. He said, WHAT AER THOSE!!!! roared the dragon as he flew as fast as possible away from the monsters who were already climbing up the sides as fast as possible after them.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan looked up into the bright afternoon sky. Uru'Baen was drawing nearer and nearer with each step of the mighty dragon, and with each step Kegan's hopes and dreams shattered into smaller and smaller pieces. He knew it wouldn't be much longer until he was either killed or... worse. This Galbatorix probably knows a million and one things worse than death, and by the sounds of how evil this guy is, Kegan thought, I will be subject to all of them.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir searched desperately for another escape, but her search was clouded by her fear of the swarm of deadly creatures. Finally, she saw another tunnel branching off to the side. It was clear of movement, and none of the creatures had reached it yet. Arcus, there's a tunnel up ahead! It might be our only way out. Who knows what they're trying to drive us toward? she called in fright, glancing behind her. The beasts had drawn back slightly from her light, but were quickly catching up to them. The darkness waiting below them in the depths of the tunnel did not look inviting. Na'ir could only guess that something deadly lay down there, waiting to catch them.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah ran deeper into the forest. She could now hear the men who had been persuing her gasping for breath, cursing, and others simply complaining and giving up. She had managed to outdistance them enough that they were no longer an immediate threat. So, the rideress began to walk. She confidently walked through the forest, but stopped when she heard a rather loud noise ahead of her. Was it those men after her? No, she had left them in the dust hours ago. Was it soldiers? In the middle of the forest? Unlikely. They typically stayed to the roads. Could it be that dragon who had captured Kegan? It was unlikely, but if it was, this could be one of her last chances to save her small friend. She immediately pulled out her bow, and an arrow and crept toward the sound.
Arcus growled in response to Na'ir's advice. He looked to see just how far from the intended exit he was, then said, You go first, I will follow. said the dragon as he bit one of the monsters on his back and hurled it into the abyss below. He scratched, burned, bit, and clawed his way to the tunnel and pushed himself inside.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan could only watch as the city came closer and closer. He feared greatly about what was ahead, but for some reason he didn't resist anymore. Almost like he knew what was going to happen and no matter what he did it would happen. Devoid of hope, Kegan's spirit seemed like a dark abyss. The only hope he had was that nobody tried to rescue him, for they too would fall to Galbatorix.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir let out another massive burst of starfire as she approached the side tunnel, desperate for escape. In moments, she shot into the narrow tunnel and was forced to twist her body uncomfortably as it curved sharply upwards. She could see no more creatures ahead, but didn't doubt that they might find a way in here. This tunnel goes up and joins with the main tunnel; I can see it! she suddenly cried in joyous delight. There it was; the exit, and no deadly-clawed creatures that she could see. She could here the skittering as they chased behind the two dragons, though, and knew that she and Arcus had to hurry. Finally, they shot out of the narrow tunnel and into the main passage, which stretched on ahead until it reached the area under Uru'baen itself. Na'ir dramatically corrected her course, flapping her wings hard as she entered the main passage, for rather than going straight up, it continued on a flat plane. She managed to avoid hitting the ceiling and touched down on the stone floor; there wasn't enough room to fly in here.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah continued toward whatever it was, and sure enough the rideress picked out the form of the black dragon in the dim forest light. She moved toward them until she could see Kegan clearly and shot. Her first arrow went straight for the dragon's leg, her second for its neck, and the third for its wingmembrane. She did not wait around to see if her shots hit their marks, instead she ran off into the bush to resume her attack in a few minutes.
Arcus barreled into the tunnel after Na'ir. He was in no mood to wait around to see if they were being followed, so he simply turned blew a powerful multicolored flame at his persuers, if he had any and fled up the tunnel after Alna'ir as fast as his legs could carry him.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan yelled in fear as the mighty black dragon roared and threw him down. He looked up in astonishment as he saw arrows jammed in the dragon. He looked around franticly for the source of them. He obviously knew who it was, and he had to make her leave before her fate was sealed. He found her quickly, and screamed "You too will fall if you try to save me, leave!" He didn't realize how long it had been since he used his voice, and it sounded very gravely.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir paused only for a moment as Arcus's rainbow fire lit the tunnel, and then bolted. She wanted to get as far away from those creatures as quickly as she possibly could. Her stride stretched out until she was galloping down the tunnel, neck and tail held straight and wings pinned to her sides. She was only dimly aware of the tunnels, but managed to keep them on a straight path to Uru'baen. Na'ir finally became too tired to keep up her dead run, and slowed to a trot. At last, she stopped and looked behind them. There was no trace of movement or the creatures. She couldn't even see the deep hole anymore. Panting heavily, she scanned all around them, searching for any sign of movement, and cast out her mind. If the creatures returned, she'd make sure she was able to feel them coming. I think we're alright for now... If they're coming they're not close, anyway, she spoke, green eyes still wide.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah sent two more arrows at the dragon, this time at its wing-joints, just to make sure that there would not be any flying. She stared cooly at the dragon as it rushed her, and darted behind a few trees as the dragon neared her. She said, "Catch me if you can, you ugly bag of scales!" yelled the rideress as he once again ran from the dragon.
Arcus gasped for breath. He was young as well as reasonably strong, but he was not in the shape that Na'ir was in. The long fight, as well as run from the monsters had worn him out. He was at the point of exhaustion and almost fell to the ground when they stopped he said, Ok .... Whew!... I am not ... built for running... said the dragon as he gasped for breath between each word.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan gasped as two more arrows pierced the mighty black and a chase went on. Follow me or I'll find you and slice your throat, The dragon had warned, just to be sure Kegan wouldn't try a hasty escape. So Kegan followed in this chase, but being sure to not be too close to the dragon to avoid any arrows. He knew that it wasn't going to end well at all. Sarah was going to die if she kept this up, and if he helped her escape he'd probably be killed and she wouldn't take too long to find..

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir was far more tired than she let on. She didn't really like running; she was built for the sky. Practice and large lungs helped, though. She laughed lightly at what Arcus said. Yeah, let's rest here for a bit. I'll keep my eyes out for more of them, she relayed with a smile, and promptly fell back so she was sitting on her haunches like a cat. She sat there for several more minutes, panting as she regained her breath and energy. Though not much time passed, it felt like a lot in the dark tunnel. Na'ir was only letting her scales give off a very dim glow, just enough for the dragons' powerful night vision to enable them to see the edges of the cave. She was pretty sure they were fairly close to Uru'baen, and didn't know what traps Galbatorix might have in store. She certainly didn't want to find out the hard way. After she could breathe properly again, she stood up slowly. Feeling able to continue? she asked Arcus with a smile.

Re: A bad feeling
Sarah gritted her teeth. The black dragon was much faster than she was, and was gaining on her quickly. She was no longer the hunter, but the hunted. She continually had to dark from one place to another to avoid the dragon, but her efforts simply were not enough. The dragon finally caught up with her. It was in a small field. The woman stood bravely, but she was sorely outmatched. The black dragon rushed her powerfully; the rideress cooly nocked an arrow and shot it, it hit its mark, but the black dragon did not stop, instead it barreled into the rideress.
Arcus looked back at Na'ir and said, Of course, lets get going, we have to get in and get out quickly. said the dragon as he stood up and walked after the dragoness.

Re: A bad feeling
Kegan screamed as the dragon barreled on top of Sarah. Instinct seemed to take over and a HUGE surge of energy coursed through the boys veins, and Kegan ran up to Sarah and the dragon with extreme speed. He managed to push the dragon off of Sarah. At that moment, he picked helped Sarah onto her feet and pushed her as hard as he could. "GO!" He screamed, "I can only hold him off for so long, GO!" He turned back around just in time for the dragon to ram it's large head into Kegan's stomach. With the breath knocked out of him, he fell to the ground, completely vulnerable.

Re: A bad feeling
Na'ir gave a sharp nod to Arcus and set off at once, eager to finish their journey. At this point, any number of things could be happening to the dragon, Kegan, and Sarah. Who knew what could have occurred in the time they had been gone? The sooner they retrieved the dragon's Eldunari, the better. The blue dragoness led the way down the twisting passages, grateful that no more of the evil long-clawed creatures were in sight. They were under the edges of Uru'baen now, and swiftly making their way to the area beneath Galbatorix's palace. There were a few more extremely deep holes like the ones that the creatures had come from, but they were concentrated on the other side of the city, well away from the palace and the area they were in now. Hopefully there wouldn't be any more attacks from them. We're almost there. I'll keep my mind alert for the presence of magic, but I'm not that good at feeling for it yet, and I don't know if I'll be able to disable any wards we come across. So just stay alert, she warned Arcus, her footsteps now quiet as she made her way forward.
