 Re: Shadows of a ShadowXelin laid still in the bush. "Besides...we need to get used to fighting with each other. You can't sit every fight out." He said. He continued to watch as Lean took her true form, and struck. "Get ready..." He said, and sank into his shadow. This time was different though. Instead of going into the Shadow Realm, he went into the small space between it and normal space. To Irlais, it would look like everything became extreamly shmooshed together, but he would feel no difference. He would be able to see the Shadow Realm below them and the ground and sky even and above them.
Xelin zipped along the ground as a shadow and circled around behind Lean. He then went under her and held a paw, talon extended, up into the air and went under her. He drug the talon lightly against her underside, just enough to scratch, but not cut scale. Re: Shadows of a Shadow Irlais wasn't so sure. He knew, of course, that Lean wouldn't hurt him purposefully. But it wasn't just her size and power that overwhelmed him. It was himself. But before he could continue his thoughts, Xelin attacked. And when they went to the in between world, Irlais got dizzy almost immediately. He clung to the horn of the saddle, feeling disoriented by the abstract world.
He had to close his eyes to force a small headache to go away. But he quickly wracked his brain for something to do, blindly reaching for his pouch and pulling out three of his rune stones. Earth, Fire, and air. When they finally were in the Shadow Plain, Irlais let his eyes open. Not that it did much good. But at least the darkness was soothing to his headache. He gripped the horn tightly in one hand and his rune stones in the other. Xelin. . I've got an idea. Re: Shadows of a Shadow Lean merely huffed, waiting. She felt a slight tickling on her underbelly, but her thick scales protected her from harm, except for a very light scratch. She growled softly and unfurled her wings to full length, nearly covering a quarter of the relatively small island with their massive expanse. Then she beat them, lifting her bulk into the sky. With a deft swipe of her tail, she took out half the trees near the caves entrance, then spun around to face the ground. She released a low, ferocious snarl of challenge. She wasn't sure if he heard, though she didn't really care.

Re: Shadows of a Shadow Xelin watched as the shadows of several trees became much smaller than what they should be, and realized that Lean must have knocked them down. From the size of her shadow, he assumed that she had spread her wings and taken to the air. He didn't need to hear her snarl to know that she expected him to follow. Moving quickly, he went to the edge of the island and down its side until he came to the shadow of a rock ledge. He left the shadow world and crawled onto the ledge. Where he was, Lean wouldn't be able to see him, which was good. He quickly scaled the wall and hid in some of the darker shadows of what few trees had been left out of the destruction. Opening his jaws, he began to pool his fire and gather it there, turning it into a large fireball. Once it became so large he couldn't hang onto it any more, roughly 5 feet diameter, he let it fly at Lean, aiming for her under belly.

Re: Shadows of a Shadow So it hadn't gone quite as planned, but that was all right. Irlais was right with Xelin, his mind racing and formulating plans faster than he thought he could. And by the time Xelin was in the Shadow Plain, he'd sparked an idea.
Quickly, as Xelin was charging his fire ball, Irlais clasped all three rune stones - earth, fire, and air - he had in his hand tightly into a fist and held them out, charging them as Xelin readied his fire. The moment Xelin let the fireball go, an immense power jolted throughout Irlais and straight through the rune stones. The air around Lean would grow not only unbearably dense, but the earth around her were begin to crumble and fall away. At the same time, a burst of energy was intertwined with Xelin's fireball, causing it to grow three times in size and explode the moment it came within two feet of the larger dragon. {OOC: I feel...like an uber A-hole for not posting in so long. x.x BUT IM BACK! Re: Shadows of a Shadow Lean snarled, swinging her head around, searching for Xelin so she could kick his smug tail into next week. She grit her teeth when the air abruptly became dense. She glanced down as the earth beneath and around her began to crumble and weaken, and then suddenly something hot exploded underneath her. She roared as it seared her hide, snarling with pain. She lifted her wings and laboriously took to the air, panting from the dense air that made flight more difficult. A flesh wound. she scoffed, although it did hurt quite a bit.

Re: Shadows of a Shadow Xelin smiled grimly. Lean could boast all she wanted, he knew that hurt. "Hang on Irlais!" He warned, and then jumped into the air after her, though making sure to keep a fair distance from her. A jet of fire shot from his tail blades and his talons, coating them in black flame. He didn't plan on using them yet, but it was better to be ready and not need them, then need them and not have them. "You ok Lean? You look like you're having a bit of trouble." He teased her.
