The Varden will most likely have the dwarves and elves with them by then as well as more Urgals so I doubt the Empire is going to win.

i think the empire still has more soldiers. Humans vastly outnumber dwarves, elves, and urgals. IT might be possible that the varden lose, the empire DOES have murtagh and a butt load of shades probably, so them winning the battle isn't very hard to conceive.

there are no shades because they were all destroyed and glaby has people that use the AL not sorserers which are needed to summon spirits.

1 elf = 100+ humans easily considering that they take ages to tire and are much faster and stronger.

the empire also has those soldiers that feel no pain. remember how much of a hard time that the varden had with them.

The elves would be fast enough just to stab soldiers who don't feel pain in the head which is still an instant kill. Not to mention the elves could just shoot them in the head with arrows considering there skills with bows It is unlikely that Galby will have more shades considering how difficult they are to make and control he would have to train sorcerers and then have them get themselves possessed and then he would have to control the shade which like Durzza would probably be plotting about how to kill Galby or escape his control..

true and plus a shade can be on either sides of a war it is a 50-50 chance.

very valid points.....but since galby is making the soldiers feeld no pain he could also put wards around them. he's strong enough to sustain them no matter how far away he is.

Wards don't work like that... You give them a certain amount of energy they only use that energy to block an attack when they run out of energy the wards stops unless you give it more energy. Example of this are the wards Eragon placed on Roran. So these wards would eventually run out and the elves who attacked would probably still be fine considering how fast they are and how long they take to tire.

Why Roran wards ran out did Eragon suddenly lose tons of energy?

P.S no he didn't

I think wards can drain energy and there seems to be contradictory information in the book about wards sometimes they are like the wards placed on Roran and sometimes they seem to get there energy directly from the caster like with Eragon on the battle of the burning plains. It's really confusing... There might be two kinds of wards one type for each of the different ways they work. You might use type 1 if the wards will be activated while far away from you and type 2 for wards on yourself.

It could be another of these infamous mistakes.

I think that Galby or Eragon will challenge the other to a duel to the death.
