Post *Movie* Eragon, a review...
Image
I am back from the cinema where I saw the movie Eragon. I had been waiting for this moment for the past 16 months ever since they had introduce the director and the script writer. Now 2 years later I have seen it and I have written a little review.
Review Here
Sorry if I have any spelling mistakes, but I was really tired when I wrote that and this post.

A brief note, don't think it's the book, because you will be deceived. It is still a really good movie to watch.

Louis

Saphira honestally looked distorted for a dragon. I mean her wings beter resembled those of a griffion then a dragon (but the baby saphria I must admite was well.. cute)

For the whole 3 days it's been released here, critics have just been putting the film down, saying how confusing it is, saying it's full of ridiculous languages, and how it drags on. I watched the film expecting something as terrible as all the reviews said, but I thought it was really good. As Louis says, it barely follows the book, all the characters look different, but that doesn't make it a bad film at all. Overall, I went in expecting some disappointment, and came out thinking about how great it was!

I love the movie and my money was worth it. I read Harry Potter and you know, the movies are just as great and perfect as the books. The same goes for the Lord of the Rings.

I wrote my own critism for this film, just had to wait till now to get on the internet. Anyway, here it is, and it does contain what most people would consider spoilers.

I'm glad some people are finally giving this movie a chance.

I went with my dad and mum. My mum hasn't read the book but both myself and my dad have. All three of us really enjoyed it. All right a lot was taken out or changed but all books made into films are never the same not even lotr or HP. I thoght the history of the three eggs should have been there as that is essentially the trilogy's story.
However, i suspect that when the DVD comes out there will be a lot of extra scenes. E.g I have seen a picture of one of the twins over on shurtugal and didn't they have an actress for Katrina?
Overall I would agree on a four out of five.

You know, I couldn't agree more kizzy :D the same goes for EragonMaria, I'm so glad people are enjoying it as a movie finally, rather than criticising about what it left out from the book.

I honestly thought the movie wasn't going to be that good from all the reviews i had read, but when i went with my fiance, we both really enjoyed it. He really like the image of saphira and when he didn't understand a part he would ask me and actually understand. we both really like the movie and he is actually interested in seeing the second installment if they ever make one(which they most likely will). I especially liked the way baby saphira looked(i looked over to my fiance and told him 'i want one'.lol)

I don't find it hard to believe ... could anybody have said anything that would have stopped you from seeing this film? I didn't think so!

I knew the reviews were bad, but I pre-booked tickets and saw it on the first night anyway.

I still eagerly await the concluding part of the trilogy, but I will reduce my expectations for the next two films.

Will I buy the DVD ... probably not ... not unless they produce an extended version with all the missing scenes.

Hello again. I'm visiting those forums here once again over a loooong time. Anyway... After some looking I decided to pour my thought into this thread here about the movie and a bit about everything.

First of all - the movie. It is absolutely one of the biggest loads of c**p I have seen! For those who went to see the movie for the books, then it's a MAJOR disappointment, I'll tell you that. Atleast I was so disappointed. The trilogy is perhaps LOTR worthy if the movie had been done a bit better. The storyline is so heavily modified that it's hard to keep track to the events in the book. I spent several hours giving a review about the differences in the film and the book to a friend, who hadn't read the book nor seen the film for several hours!
Unfortunately that is not all. I saw here some quite neutral or even a bit positive comments about the film. Are you serious!?? I absolutely hated the film and it would of been very bad even when I wouldn't have read the book. The book is quite deep and interesting. The film is more just like flying through that what some call the script. Honestly this is just made to round up some quick buck and that's all. The alterations of the storyline were so heavy that I wonder how on earth do they make the second film - do they write a whole new story or is it yet another quick-buck novel that has nothing to do with the book what so ever?

I just don't understand how could CP allow such a thing to happen. I mean the books are good, aren't they!? Anyway I hope the third book won't be affected by this commercial outbreak like the first film...

Now there we go... I had the chance to say it out. And I would do it again. 'Cause this mess they did to the film is a lot of disappointment to go for a long time. Oh sweet book three, do not YOU disappoint me..!

Well, to his credit, Paolini had hardly anything to do with it.
Maybe he just wanted the money...?
I'm hoping they dont make a second film, but by the way the director and such talked on the DVD they are planning on it... :(

Paolini had NOTHING to do with it. He sold the rights to Fox. He was stupid for that. If he hadnt, there would have been much more money..seeing as I and plenty other fans would have gone and seen it again..cuz it would have been alot better :D

not in my opinion
it was targeted at waaaay too young of an audience
it was very childish with too mch focus on the special efects and not enough on the script
The actors were good, but with a bad script u cant do much

Arya was done real badly. I could list about 1000 actreses that could do better than seienna gullery or whatever her name is. Also arya shoulda been like LotR with pointed ears.

the movie is just that. a movie.
i LOVE books. give me a good book and i'm gone. i'm serious. it gets on peoples nerves. like my family. someone can be talking, or even yelling at me, i don't hear a thing. i can cry with a character, and so on. but not all people are readers. there for, we have many movies based on the story line of a book. and although most people who are readers and read the book FREAK out cause the movie is no where near as good, others love it. see it for what it is. a movie. do not compare it to the book. for you will always be greatly dissapointed. i know plenty of kids and adults that went to see the movie who thought it was good. of course some thought higher of it than others. but still good. i have not heard one person who like movies, fantasy or other wise, call it a load of cr@p.
i must say that if givin the opportunity there are a few things i would change, or add. but it was still a good movie. if they choose to make another perhaps they will get better. that happens offten. look at movies like spiderman, or saw. each time the movie was better. so give it a chance. and if someone says, well that was stupid, tell em to read the book. it's better for their brain anyways. ;)

I agree the movie was off the books, but it was good on its own. Though they could have done the characters better in the movie. The urgals were pathetic, Roran looks to much like Eragon, and the Ra'zac in the movie look nothing like how the book descibes them to look like.

Somebody mentioned the urgals- did you see the original artist's interpretation of them? There were drawings of what they were going to be like in the movie- horns and everything, they looked so cool... but then they found out they didn't have enough money for all the animation, so they got a load of fat guys with face-paint instead.

well if cost was the prob, it won't be a prob in the next movie. they made well over their expectations of the movie, hitting around 120-130 mill at the box office...

you know why they didnt make the urgals have horns right? same reason the elves didnt have pointy ears. they didnt want them to look like all the other fantasy movies (AKA, LOTR)

It would of been beter if they made it look alittle more like LotR, the movie didn't make many of the characters look right.

I think they should have made the elfs and dwarves other creatures look a little like the ones from LOTR. If they had it probably woul dhave done a whole lot better. They should have followed after LOTR cause they stayed true to the book even to the point where they were speaking elvish. :D

Yeah I think I'm a bit prejudice too cause I loved the LOTR trilogy (I have all 3 on DVD~extended edition versions  ). I thought it was great how PJ did all in his power to stay true to the books. I just wish that the director would have done that for Eragon.

I completely agree with you Valkrayie. I mean if not those guys then at least find a good director who is a fan of the books at the very least.

but it would be hard for the director to correct all of the other directers mistakes. I don't know though he could be briliant.

Well when they do announce it I hope they make sure that they know what the viewers are demanding. Cause if it ends up like Eragon did then there will be a lot of dissapointed and angry people out there. Well at least those who have read the books.

That is an awesome Idea but i doubt it happens any time soon. Unless the new director see's it fit to redo the movie.

I think they should redo Eragon and have Peter Jackson direct it cause he knows how to stay true to the books. He wouldn't change it all around cause he's afraid that it'll look like all the other fantasy movies out there.

I would hope for a redo of eragon as well, but I don't think that will happen, unless fox sells the rights for the movie to new line cinema or something.

You know, may be they did screw eragon up, but really it was still a good movie, and unique. It probably made it a little more enjoyable than if they had just copycated the exact plotline of the books.

Yeah...I think it was a good movie. I watched the movie before I read the books. I mean it had me interested enough to persue the books. Its just that after reading the books I was really dissapointed. I still like the movie and all cause I bought the DVD its just I wish they had at least stuck to the description of the characters.

Very true! It would have been 100% better if they had included all the proper characters.

Thats true. All my favorite parts of the book weren't even in the movie. I wish they had put solembum in the movie. I don't think they should have put Galbatorix in the movie. They could have pull off not having him in the movie kind of like how Saruman wasn't really in LOTR.

Yeah Peter Jackson did both King Kong and the LOTR Trilogy. He would be the perfect directure for Eragon if they did a remake.

aye, Peter Jackson would turn Inheritance, but unfortunately he cannot. this isn't exactly public news, but many video game fans around the world know that he has been hired to make the Halo movie. so he cannot do a redo of Eragon or Eldest. he's already doing Halo.

I know but you can't help but hope just a little. They butchered it and I wish they would redo Eragon.

OT:Can't wait until they come out with a teaser for the Halo movie.
