Something in the Water
OOC: This RPG is definitely open to everyone who wants to join. This is Serena's first RPG so if at all possible I would like her to experience both good and bad charries, some human and some not if at all possible. Now, that is not to mean that one person has to bring in like 15 charries, but if several people could join that would be wonderful. Also, a dragon would be an interesting turn of events, so like I said. Open to all and lets have fun with the last of the mermaids!!
IC: Serena swam silently toward the dock. The sailors were far too busy with their morning tasks to notice the shadow beneath the waves. Serena had taken extra pains not to be detected as she made her way from the open ocean to the large Leona Lake. The trip had been long and arduous swimming all the way up the Toark River beside Terim, a city she had long despised; however, this time Serena had bigger "fish" to fry as it were. She intended to bring her wrath against the people of Dras Leona.
As the mermaid glided beneath the waves, she observed the men as they went about their duties. She dare not attack them...yet. She would wait until they were too far out in the lake to get away from her. She would have to make sure she disabled their oars and rudders also. Once she stranded the ship would be only a matter of time until she could create a hole in the hull of the ship and allow the men and the boat to sink, then she would have enough man flesh for several meals. But, until then she would wait and bide her time.

Re: Something in the Water
Arka wandered through the streets of Dras-Leona, the hood of his cloak shielding most of his face from view. The left sleeve of his cloak flopped around with every step. If there was an arm somewhere concealed in the sleeve, one would assume it to be made of rubber the way it flapped and flailed when blown by the wind. However, that was not the case. Rather, there wasn't anything in the sleeve, for Arka didn't have a left arm. Did he care much? Maybe a little, but it often gave him the element of surprise over others.
It had been far too long since he had visited Dras-Leona. Nearly half of the city - the ghetto area, perhaps - was plagued with sick and homeless citizens, dilapidated houses, and various liquids splayed all throughout. The only people with clothing that weren't rags were either thieves or people like himself--wanderers. At last he arrived at the better side of the city, and could now appreciate the city a minuscule amount. Perhaps the most fascinating display were the docks. Muscular men manned the ship or moved heavy objects around, women winked at anyone who passed by, and kids pretended to play pirate. However, none of this caught the half-elf's attention.
Instead, the marksmanship of the multiple ships docked alongside bridges was a thing to behold. It amused and surprised Arka that humans could create such things with even a small amount of flamboyance. His eyes scattered, and he took a few more moments to take in the sights in front of him. When he went to turn and ultimately leave the city, a flicker of movement to the side perked his interests. He turned back to face the waters, squinting for any signs of movement. Nothing. With a slight frown, he made once more to leave but then he saw ripples in the water. Now he was sure that he saw a shadow moving through the water. It was bigger than most fish, though not unusually big compared to other things he had seen in his time. However, it moved fluidly through the water. Now slightly intrigued, Arka dropped his pack on the ground and waited, occasionally glanced towards the water to mark the creature's progress. Something about it was. . .disconcerting? Foreboding? Or just plain curious?

Re: Something in the Water
Serena continued to glide beneath the waves until the ships began to set out for their days fishing and transporting resources toward the western bank and the southern trade routes. The mermaid smiled to herself and followed the ships.
As the ships began to seperate themselves, Serena swam ahead and perched herself upon a half submurged rock. There, the water and spray of the sea kept her cool and moist, and there she also was very visible to the men on deck. She sat calmly and waited. Soon her prey would be within her grasp.
OOC: Sorry that was basically a pass....

Re: Something in the Water
Arka's keen eyes followed the swiftly-moving figure until it reached a rock and perched its - correction, her - body on it. Perched on the rock was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, which was saying a lot, as he had been among elves before. She had long dark brown hair and curiously purple eyes. Her complexion was a milky white, though not sickeningly so. Her beauty would make any man fall head-over-heels for her in an instant, but it had little effect on Arka. Rather, he was almost immediately put on alert. She had moved through the water with grace surpassing those of the elves. Yet she looked. . .human? There was definitely something odd about her: her milky white skin reminded Arka of a shade, yet that idea too was thrown away. Why would a shade have dark brown hair? Furthermore, shades were almost as graceful, if not just as much as the elves. This creature surpassed them all in that regard.
Arka reached in his pack and withdrew a notebook and pencil. He began to sketch the clouds, pretending to focus more on his surrounding environment than the woman herself so as to not arouse suspicion. He wanted to see if she would do anything in the next few minutes. If she didn't, then he would start conversation with her before she could swim away. He just had to find out just what she was.
OOC: It's fine. I'm not sure if Serena's tail was hidden by the rock or not, so I went with that it was hidden. If it wasn't, just inform me and I'll edit.

Re: Something in the Water
Serena smiled. The ship was almost in range of her voice. She saw some man standing at the bow drawing something. She was not very sure about him; however, she still had her first goal in mind. As soon as the ship got close enough for earshot, Serena began to sing. Serena's hypnotic voice carried across the waters toward the ship. Once there, the melodious words began to stir up deep emotions within the humans on board. The ship then began to leave its previous course, throwing several from their feet to the deck of the ship, and then began to head straight toward Serena.
The mermaid then slipped from the rock and swam several meters away from the trap and continued to sing, her smile never fading as the mean sailed toward their doom.
