Post Dedarath
OOC: This is a long awaited RP between me and DS4. It's a big moment for a few of our characters. If you would like to join in please ask us BEFORE we get to Dedarath, after that point it will be impossible for anyone else to join. This takes place right after Forgotten Face

IC:
The day they discovered Jessa Hinote Karite and Mya was the worst day of their lives. On that day, Kale and Rathon Hinote Karite had lost their sister and a friend, Osutin Shiori two friends, and Lydinlel felt the sorrow of them all as her own. The two, Jess and Mya, Reaper and Werewolf, had been taken by Reapric bounty hunters back to the Reapric homeland of Dedarath. Jess was to be used in The Sacrifice of Tainted Spirits, which would remove Jess's power from her and give it to her Uncle, Gres Dorndo, the current King of Dedarath. The Sarcifice technically required 3 Reapers of royal blood to be sacrificed, so it was likely that Gres was banking on the fact that the two brothers would come to save their sister, and when they did he would simply capture them. He was right, mostly. Ka and Rath did intent on going to Dedarath to rescue their sister, but what Gres didn't count on was how much more powerful they were since they left, or that they would be in the company of an Ex-Captain from a distant land and 3 dragons.

Soon after they realized that they were gone, Rath began making plans on what they should do, they agreed that they should separate for now and then meet again in Belatona once they had gathered what ever each thought they would need. From there they would cut threw Surda and get to the Beor Mountains, and from there into Dedarath.

Rathon went to his home, which lay somewhere between Dras-Leona and Uru'Baen. Once upon a time he had worked as an assassin for the Empire, meaning he got all the cool new weapons the Emperor's engineers and black smiths came up with. He had stolen a few of the ones that actually worked. He packed what he would need; short term food, spare cloths, his assassin uniform, a blank summoning scroll, ink and pen, and various weapons and equipment. Once he fit all this into his magically-enhanced backpack, he strapped on his straight-blade katana, threw his hooded black cloak over his shoulders, picked up his pack, and teleported to just outside of Belatona to wait for the others. Lee had flown straight there, and was waiting for him when he arrived.

Ka and Jia also went to their home to gather supplies and provisions. Their home, rarly used though it was, was located somewhere in the Spine south of Towark Lake but north of Kuasta. It set peacefully in a small grass field, which, along with the house, had been magically enhance to resist dragon fire. This was due to the fact that their house was not empty, but it housed Jia's 2 week old hatchling, Sarai. Sarai was outside when they arrived, and Jia tended to her while Ka gathered everything they would need. Various scrolls and maps, weapons and armor, even Jia's dragon-armor went into his magically enhanced backpack. While he was there, Ka also sent word to a friend of his that owed him a favor or two to watch after Sarai while they were gone. Lastly, he placed his scythe on his back, his straight edged katana at his side, slipped on his black hooded traveling cloak, and headed out the door. Jia had already explained why they were leaving as best as she could to the hatchling, who didn't exactly understand, but didn't make a fuss about it. Soon after, Jia and Ka took to the skys again to meet up with Rath and Lee outside of Belatona.

Osutin, unlike Rath and Ka, didn't have a home. When the others left he wandered back threw the woods to find his cart, which held more than just cheap trinkets. In the cabinets below the main top was a hidden compartment, which held a few items from his past as well as a clean set of his real uniform, rather than the rags he was currently wearing. He took all of the items out first to remind himself of what he had. Most of the items had been in the testing stages of squad 12 when he had left, so they were still the prototype versions, but they were better than nothing. His small collection consisted of food pills that, when eaten, could sustain a full grown man for a week if all he had was water, and he had 20 of them. A small oddly shaped item of metal and wood that could focus ones every into an almost solid state of mater and fire it at high-speeds. He hadn't seen the use for it when he was given it since he could use Kidou spells to do that same thing, but he kept it anyways. A few dozen shurikan and kunai knives, some with enchanted exploding tags attacked to them. He also found a re-usable summoning scroll. He had no idea where it came from, since he had never summoned anything, but he figured Ka or Rath would find use for it so he took it as well. The last thing he took out was a black vest made of over lapping, yet flexible, metal plates. The metal was suppose to be able to withstand even the strongest blade strike, but it had never been tested. He took off his rags and slipped on a white shirt, followed by his armor, which was surprisingly light and airy, then his hakama (pants) then his kosode (robe) then finally his clean white Captain's haori (cloak). He tied his Zanpakuto to his side, slipped his pack onto his back, placed his straw hat on his head, and shunpoed away to meet the others outside of Belatona.

Everyone was either there or on their way, and soon they would be heading off to Dedarath, a land none of them had ever seen, or hadn't seen for a very long time. They had no idea what kind of dangers they were getting into, but they would continue anyways for the sake of Jessa and Mya.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Rathon sat upon a rock, his hood pulled up and head hung low, his pack sitting on the ground next to the rock. Lee was curled around the rock, eyes closed but not asleep. Both of them were too anxious to sleep. To help with this, at least for himself, Rath kept his fingers busy by twirling and spinning a thin, silver throwing knife from the belt of 10 in his pack. It flashed and shone bright in the late-morning sun, it's reflective surface sending small light reflections playing across the ground in all directions. Suddenly, he growled and threw the knife at a near by tree, hitting it dead center in a knot. Lee peaked an eye open to look at him, she could feel his fear and worry. He couldn't believe that only just this morning his sister had been taken. Taken from him to be brought back to Dedarath and killed. It made his blood boil. It made him want to march into Dedarath by himelf and lay waste to everything in his sight like he knew he could. To damnation with being sneaky and trying to get in and out unnoticed, he wanted his uncle to suffer a thousand times what he had put them threw by forcing their parents to fly Dedarath. He felt Lee brush his mind with her own, the feeling similar to a cold drink on a hot day. He could feel her gentle touch move threw him and calm him a measure or two, enough so he didn't think foolish thoughts of chaos and destruction. He glanced at her from under his hood and smlied at her a bit, which she returned before closing her eyes again. He hopped off the rock with a sigh and retrieved his knife, then returned to it to sit and wait some more.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The flight to Belatona was going achingly slow for Ka, but he didn't want to ask Jia to go faster, for they would need all the strength they could muster in the coming days, but neither could he just sit here and go mad with nervous energy. He then got an idea. Taking off his pack he tied to to Jia's saddle securely. He knew Jia knew what he was doing, and he also knew she hated the first part, but that was part of the fun. He unfastened himself from her saddle and swung one leg over so he was sitting sideways. After a traded glance with his partner of heart and mind, followed by a quick grin from him, he jumped. He let himself fall for a while, letting the air whip his air up above his head and blow his cloths around around him. Then, just as he was nearing the tree-tops, he touched his Changing Seal, and changed his form into that of a black/red dragon whos size was between that of Jia and Zeke. He unfurled his wings and slingshoted himself back up into the let, letting out a mighty roar as he did, making several birds flee in terror below him. He fell back in line with Jia, flapping every few seconds. They had done this many times when they were traveling, so words weren't necessary, mental or spoken. The first one to Belatona won, loosing was the dragon for the winner on the first part of their trip. So, with unspoken consent and agreement, Ka decided to get a headstart, and beat his wings once, taking off like a shot threw the air toward Belatona.

Finally! Whoo! XD

IC:
Jia glanced back at her partner-of-heart as she felt his urge to go faster, but his reluctance to ask her to speed up, and why. She snorted softly and blinked her eye at him, affection within her glittering teal-green iris. Her upper lip curled subconsciously as she felt the idea welling up in him to do a free fall again. She hated when he did that, gave her a heart attack every time, but she knew she could catch him if something ever went wrong and he couldn't Change. She winked at him in return to his grin, then angled her head down and watched as he free fell to the earth, her heart in her mouth with fear despite knowing that her Rider was able to take care of himself.

She sighed with relief once he had Changed and soared back up with a mighty roar that startled the birds below him. Once he was level with her she snorted at him and smiled, a twinkle in her eye. She felt his intention without even speaking to him, and tensed the muscles of her wings in preparation for fast flying.

She let him get a head start, instead she beat her wings powerfully and rose up higher into the sky to gain height. Once she was high enough to almost touch the sparse clouds, she paused and hovered for a moment, gazing over the breathtaking scenery below and around her. Everything looked so small to her way up here.

She linked her mind with Ka and shared the scene with her, the greenery and the mountains far to her right and behind, the Spine, and her front, the Beors. Then, she tilted her body slightly down and folded her wings in, beating the tips to keep her path straight and true. Her momentum built up rapidly, making her eyes water. She closed her first and second lids so she could still see but they were protected from the mighty wind that beat against her as she fell parallel to the ground.

She caught up with Ka swiftly and bellowed down at him, her eyes glittering with mischief as she swept past him. Hey slow poke, you're not going to win like that! she called back to him with a wide teasing grin. She laughed in her draconic way and beat her wings to increase her speed, humming with joy and content.

Despite the reason for doing so, she was excited to be going to Dedarath, the home of her Rider. It was a new place to explore and discover. Not even Ka or Rath knew what was to be in store for them exactly. It was an exciting, yet quite dangerous and real, adventure.

Zeke had searched around the area of Du Weldenvarden for several days before finding even a remnant of the pack of werewolves that he knew Mya belonged to as Head Alpha. Her mate, Nachel, would definitely be wanting to know what was going on. Once he found the white furred Lycan, he informed the male lupine as to what had happened to Mya. Nachel was of course furious with protective rage, but Zeke cautioned him to think. He offered for the male to join himself, Jia, Ka, Rath, and Lee in their journey into the depths of Dedarath.

That had been several days ago. Now the two flew in utter silence toward Belatona. Nachel had opted to ride on Zeke's back for the trip to the meeting place, the better to conserve energy. He could feel the lycan bristling with the need to run, protect, but also the common sense and aged patience of a well seasoned warrior. He liked this white wolf.

The amethyst dragon raised his head and sniffed the wind whipping past his face. He grinned; his younger sister and her Rider, Ka, were a little more southeast of him. He reached his thoughts out to them in welcome, grinning wider as he found what they were doing. He laughed and beat his wings, intent on joining the race. Oi, you two young rascals alright with letting an old geezer like myself have some fun, eh? he called out to them, his ice blue eyes sparkling with mischief in their minds.

He laughter once more and lifted into the air, eliciting a yelp of surprise and terror from Nachel, but the white lupine held on, so the amethyst paid him no special mind. He pulled in his wings in a similar way to his sister and dove, vying to catch up with her.

Ka gasped a bit as Jia raced past him, a blur of shining golden scales. "Hey! Get back here you!" He called to her, laughing. He beat his wings harder to try and gain more speed without having to copy her by going up and diving back down. He managed to catch up to her, nose to tail, but she had too much of a lead on him for him to actually get past her. Then, an idea came to him. He could make a tail wind to help push him. Granted she would probably call that cheating, alls fair in love and war. Just as he was gathering his energy for the Seal, he felt a very familiar presence, as well as a not so familiar one that was smaller. No, of course not Zeke! Come on! He called back, laughing again. At this rate they would reach Belatona in just a few hours.

Osutin had been traveling as fast as he could for at least a day now while trying to conserve his strength. He had managed to get almost all the way to Belatona without stopping. Still about an hour away, he decided to stop for a breather, which is when he noticed the energy of several of his friends above him, Ka, Jia, and Zeke. "Looks like everyone will be arriving at the same time...good. He said to himself, and then continued onward toward Belatona.

Rath had been waiting for a few days now, sleeping under Lee's wing when he figured out they wouldn't be as quick as he had been. He didn't have much else to do other than nap and compile his energy while he waited, so that's what he did. He was in the middle of a particularly good dream involving a few elven girls when he heard Lee's growl lightly, though not in a threatening way. He was awake instantly, and feeling around for enemies and friends. He didn't feel any enemies, but he did feel friends, all of them in fact. If his guess was right they would all get to him within the hour, then they could rest for a while and get a good plan of action together before heading out again. He sighed, now fully awake and began to go over the plan he had made the first night he had arrived here, again.

Jia welcomed her brother with a warm embrace of her mind, purring deeply in her chest. She glanced behind her and grinned at her Rider. She beat her wings a little to pull away a few feet, taunting him a bit, but her eyes sparkled with affectionate humor. From the corner of her eye to her right she saw a flash of amethyst purple. She turned and saw her brother, his scales sparkling in the sun. She crooned a greeting to him, beating her wings slightly to meet him. She saw a white wolf on his back, though instead of on all fours it held itself like a humanoid. She grinned toothily. Nachel, what a pleasure to see you. she called to the lycan warmly.

Zeke prummed deeply in his chest as she neared him. She keened happily and twisted around him in the air. I'm glad to see you again, Broka. she purred contently. She kept an eye on Ka, making sure he didn't get ahead of her position. And you, Seita. he rumbled back. She prummed again, then snorted and flashed forward again to take her place in front of Ka once more. She was -not- going to let him win this time.

She barrel rolled in place and bugled, seeing Belatona on the horizon. She reached her mind forward in search of Rath, Ka's older brother, and his bonded companion, Lee.

Post Re: Dedarath
Asa, I just saw three dragons fly over head, a shocked voice said, resounding in the head of a rather large, burly young man. Asa looked around the city in confusion, trying to locate the newcomers, but saw nothing. Then he remembered the owner of the voice, his pair bond Naor, was outside of the city, a few miles away from the walls. He felt along their connection until he was looking through her deep blue irises.

Indeed you did, he responded, a little shocked. Even with the war close to being over, he still found it hard to believe this many dragons would be so close to one of the Empire's largest cities. I'm done gathering supplies, I'll meet you outside the city, then we'll go see what they're up to, he said, jogging towards the city gates. Soon enough he was through passed the guards and was able to hitch a ride on the back of the wagon, which carried him most of the way to Naor. Tossing a few silver coins to the driver, he jumped off of the back of the moving wagon, then trotted over a hill.

Below him, sparkling in the bright sunshine, it looked as if the sky had fallen and had become a living being. The bright blue dragoness uncurled from where she had been laying, unfurling her wings and shaking them vigorously as she moved. She bugled lightly and walked briskly to her Rider, butting him gently in the chest with her snout when he was close enough. They had left her saddle buckled on when he had entered Belatona, so they wasted no more time catching up to the other dragons.

They must be long gone from sight by now, are you sure you can find them? he asked her as she took to the sky.

Of course I can, I listened to the sound of their wings after they passed by overhead, and it seemed as if they landed within a few miles of here, she replied, lazily flying in the direction she had last heard them. She gained height slowly, all the while scouring the ground for signs of the others.

Uhm... Naor? Are you sure you heard them land? 'Cause... Asa said, pointing to a point slightly above and way far ahead of them.

Oh... I guess not. Let us introduce ourselves, shall we? she said, chuckling at her mistake. She increased the beat of her wings and before long they were about half a mile from the trio. Greetings, I am Naor and this is my Rider, Asa. What are the three of you doing out here so close to a city? she called, twisting slightly so they could see Asa before straightening again. She slowed down slightly and let the group get a little distance on them, the easier for her to have time to out maneuver them if they attacked.

Darian was slouched back on Lyssand's back, her right leg wrapped around the saddle horn, her left foot in the stirrup, and her hands behind her head on his rump, surveying the clouds above while she thought about what to do to pass the time, when a sudden thumping from the air above caught her attention. Uhhh, dragons Lyssand! she said, sitting up and pointing them out. The piebald snorted and sidestepped off the road, hiding under the branches of a nearby tree.

I don't know why you sound so surprised, we've met dragons before, and we haven't done anything lately that would make the king send his precious Riders or imprisoned dragons to look for us, he snorted, watching the three flying overhead. Before he could even finish the thought, they flew out of sight, though they could still hear the beat of their wings.

"True enough, but better cautious than not. And you're right, they couldn't possibly be looking for us, or anyone else for that matter... It actually looked like they were racing," Darian said, standing in the saddle and pulling herself up through the tree branches. Before long she was swaying the top of the tree, shading her eyes as she tracked the dragons across the sky. The back of her neck prickled just in time for her to turn and see another dragon, this one lower and slower-flying than the others. She ducked into the tree branches, watching the dragon like a prey animal watches a hawk as it flies overhead.

It to passed without incident, and after a minute she jumped nimbly through the tree branches until she was swinging back into the saddle. "Looks like they might be heading to some sort of rendezvous in that direction, let's go check it out," she said, sticking her feet in the stirrups and grabbing the reins.

Lyssand snorted and turned in the direction she had indicated, tearing up the ground in a neat lope that covered a lot of ground at a steady pace. There was no way the little horse could keep up with four flying dragons, but he managed to keep them in sight without expending too much energy. Let's hope they land soon. I can run like this all day, but that doesn't mean I like to, he grumbled. Darian just chuckled and eyed the sky whenever her view was clear of trees.

OOC: Soooo sorry for the wait on this you two. I was in Florida on vacation, then we came back and my parents closet was flooded, and I've been tired @_@ I'll try to post more often...also...sorry if it isn't that great and seems kinda choppy >.>

IC:
Ka smiled and rumbled in his chest as Jia shot forward a ways and then looked back, taunting him. He was about to do that same, speed forward past her, when he felt the presence of another dragon and rider. He looked back behind them and saw them about a half mile back. He assumed it was because they were either trying to trail them, or they were being cautious in their approach. Either option seemed smart in his opinion. "Jia, be on guard." He told her threw their link. When the pair behind them introduced themselves, Ka spoke first. "Greetings Naor and Rider Asa. I am Kale and this is my dragon Jia and her brother Zeke. He said, motioning to Jia and Zeke as he said their names. Then he realized he probably just confused them since he said Jia was his dragon while he was in his dragon form. "One moment..." He said, and touched the Changing Seal with his mind. There was a brief flash of light and then he was sitting on Jia's saddle, facing backwards at the pair, no longer in his dragon form. "Now then...you asked what we were doing so close to the city. We are currently going to meet up with my brother, who is also a Rider. We are...taking a little trip some place." He didn't want to give out too much information to these strangers, after all, Jia, Rath, and himself were wanted by the Empire and for all he knew these two were spies.

Rath and Lee looked up the moment they felt Jia's greeting to them and found them about a mile or two off from where he was. Her call didn't reach them until a second later. He reached his mind out to greet her and his brother as well, but found that they were tense for some reason. With a quick Void Seal, he blinked one and was looking threw his brother's eyes. Threw them he could see a dragon and rider pair about a half mile from where they were. He couldn't tell if they were talking or not since all he could do was see. He cut the Seal and glanced at Lee. "Be on guard...They may end up needing our help." He said out loud to her, to which she responded with glance and a nod to him, then returned to looking at the newcomers.

Osutin slowed his pace as he neared the city. Walking now more than flash stepping. He could feel Ka, Jia, and Zeke and little ways ahead of him, thanks to the fact that they could fly, and Rath and Lee a bit further. He walked along the edge of the path so any other travelers could go by him without incident. He just hoped that his strange cloths wouldn't raise too many questions for him. He began to let his mind wander a bit, wonder what Dedarath would be like. He imagined a dark and gloomy place full of mountains and hills and dark rock, where the people never smiled, and a dark castle could always be seen in the distance. He snapped out of his day dream when he felt another presence fly over his head; another dragon. He shot his gaze upward just in time to see it before it past and his view was blocked by the trees. He was considering air-walking up to get a better view, but his train of thought was cut short again by the sound of hooves. Granted, this was a public road and there were likely to be many travelers, so no reason to get upset, but something told him to turn around. He was glad he did. He saw the young woman riding at a rather brisk pace in the same direction he was going, but that wasn't what concerned him. He saw that she was looking up at the dragon that had just passed over as well, meaning she saw it too, and it was likely she saw the other three. Why then, was she still riding this direction? He pulled his straw hat lower over his eyes and looked back ahead. When she passed by him he would pick up his pace again and trail her to see where she was headed.

Jia did a backloop to get a glimpse of the newcomers once Ka alerted her to their presence. She paused in her flight, hovering in place in the air so Naor and Asa could catch up. Her eyes sparkled with warmth and she laughed at Ka when he realized the two would be confused to see three dragons and no Rider that he had spoken of.

She curled her head around and nuzzled her Rider's leg, purring deep in her chest. Aye, I am Jia, this little mischief maker on my back is Kale, but you can call him Ka. That amethyst dragon over there is my older brother, Zeke, and the wolf on his back is Nachel. It's a pleasure to see you, Skulblaka Naor, Shur'tugal Asa. she prummed, snorting trails of smoke.

- - - - - - - - - -

Zeke laughed at his little sister and grinned wolfishly at the Bonded pair, his ice blue eyes shining. I'm Zeke Blindscale, little ones. A pleasure to meet you. he said warmly. His eyes flashed with light and he scanned the ground, looking for Osu. He found the twoleg, and saw another in front of him on horseback. He snorted and banked around to meet Osu, catching a better glimpse of the one ahead of him. It was a female, and she knew the dragons were there. He twisted in the air, causing Nachel to yelp and hold on tighter. Hey Osu. he called, huffing. He drifted overhead, having no place to actually land. How went the travels for you? he asked, keeping at eye on the one behind the twoleg. He didn't sense violent intentions from her, just curiosity.

Asa's eyed widened when the large red and black male dragon who had contacted them changed form to become human. Naor, did he just? he asked in astonishment.

Yes he did, now close your mouth, we've seen stranger things, Naor said, sending him images of the blob monsters they had fought when rescuing their friend Natori. The sky blue dragoness cocked her head at Jia and her Rider, who was now resting securely on her back. That is an unusual power your Rider has. He must be very powerful. He says you go to help his brother, we would like to join you, so long as you are no friend to the Empire or any other evil that walks the land, she said, watching the amethyst-gold carefully.

Are you sure it would be wise for us to join them? Asa hissed from her back.

Yes, I do. We're not doing anything at the moment, and it's not like you're getting a bad feeling off of them, are you?, she said patiently. Now that introductions had been made, she felt slightly safer in approaching the Pair, passing the big amethyst one, Zeke Blindscales, as he flew behind her to greet someone else on the ground. She turned her head to watch him for a moment, then looked at Jia. I don't mean to be rude, but is he really blind? He flies so well to have no sight, she asked when she was closer.

Asa blinked in surprise, Naor was right, that little buzz at the back of his mind that had always warned him of trouble wasn't buzzing. He smiled and relaxed, trusting in his ability to sense if their intentions towards himself and Naor changed. He lifted a hand to Kale in greeting and reached out to the other Rider with his mind, so they wouldn't have to shout over the beat of their dragon's wings. Well met Kale, Rider of Jia. May I ask why it is you are going to help your brother? What kind of trouble is he in? he asked.

Darian watched the dragons overhead in awe, only occasionally looking away from their sparkling scales to briefly survey the road ahead. One time while she was looking at the path Lyssand was covering at a steady clip, she saw a man walking ahead of them wearing strange black clothing with a sleeveless white cloak over it. She frowned and swiftly drove her eyes up to the sky. Lyssand, keep an eye on him would you? Something's off. We know why we're following the dragons, but why would anyone else be doing the same? Any sane human would have leaped off the path and into the tree cover the moment they saw them, and he's bound to have seen them, she said, looking at the ground again as they came closer.

She had no sooner finished the thought than one of the dragons, a brilliantly colored purple male, if she judged his size correctly, detached itself from the group and approached them. She pulled up on Lyssand's reins and he slowed to a stop beside the stranger. "You might want to run, there's a dragon coming this way!" she said to him, in the extremely unlikely event that he was blind. The way he exuded power simply by walking was making the hair on the back of her neck stand up, and Lyssand felt it to, prancing from side to side like he never had before.

Don't underestimate him Darian, I don't think he's human. No human has ever smelled like this, he smells like pure power, unclean power somehow, but power all the same, Lyssand said, rubbing his muzzle against his foreleg in agitation.

Ka couldn't help but grin a tad when Asa's mouth fell open at his Change. It probably wasn't often that one saw a dragon change into a two-leg form, which was a handy ability when traveling.

Ka listened as Naor spoke to Jia threw their bond, but since none of the comments were directed at him, he felt it would be rude to answer. When Asa asked him why they were going to help his brother, he hesitated. While they didn't exactly feel threatening, there was no sense in taking chances. Though if their comment about the Empire was anything to go by then they weren't friendly with it either, but they hadn't survived this long by trusting everyone they met at their word. He thought for a few seconds on how to answer.

"Well...it's not just him we're going to help...you see, our sister and a friend of ours were taken to a distant land, threw the Beor Mountains, and we aim to get them back." He said, ghost-emotions from when they learned of her abduction by the river flashed threw him before he could stop them, just as white-hot as they had been before. The anger, loss, hatred, fear...all passing threw him in a fraction of a second, leaving him slightly breathless. Then, they were gone, as quickly as a mid-summer thunder storm. While what he said wasn't untrue, it wasn't the whole story; he left out that he and his brother were wanted for the same reason their sister was: to be used as sacrifices in The Sacrifice of the Tainted Soul, which would transfer their power to their uncle, Gres Dorndo.

Osu looked up at the woman on horse back from under his straw hat, only his small grin visible. When she stopped next to him to warn him of the approaching dragon, he stopped as well. When he did he gently moved his haori, revealing the red hilt of his zanpakuto. It wasn't a threatening gesture, but one to show that he wasn't someone she should mess with should she have been thinking about it.

When Zeke greeted him, he looked up to where is was drifting over the trees and spoke aloud. "Greetings Zeke! They went well thus far, I was expecting to be stopped more due to my attire, but people more are less left me alone. What of your own travels? They went well I hope?" When he finished speaking he tilted his straw hat up and looked at the woman, grinning slightly, mischief sparkling lightly in his eyes. "Hello miss. How are you this fine day?" He spoke casually, like their wasn't a dragon within 50 yards of them, flying over the trees.

Jia's scales bristled up and down her back and neck for the blues question of her allegiance. Images from her capture flashed through her mind for a moment, mostly those of Ka and the torture the both of them had endured. She shuddered, a soft rumble vibrating her chest, though it died down quickly. We are no friends to the Empire, nor will we ever willingly help them in any way. she said quietly, then smiled a little. We would be glad for the company, however where we head is not for the faint of heart. Come if you wish. She shook herself and smiled at Naor's curiosity, her eyes sparkling with warmth. Aye, he is truly blind. Hatched that way, in fact. Mostly practice really, and how to trust his instinct. His Rider, Ella Whitefang, helped him a lot when he was young.

Zeke snorted softly. Took me forever to find Mya's pack in Du Weldenvarden. The one on my back is Nachel, Mya's mate. Who's your lady friend there? he said, grinning to himself. He extended his thoughts to the woman and also her mount, brushing against their minds gently. Hello, little ones. I am Zeke Blindscale. I mean neither of you any harm. he rumbled in his chest, his eyes sparkling with warm mischief.

Asa nodded, understanding on his face. That would explain why you guys seemed to be in such a hurry. It doesn't matter how dangerous it is, we would like to help you find your sister and friend. I'm not much when it comes to magic, but I can wield a sword pretty well, if I do say so myself. Between that and my knack for sensing out danger, I could hold my own in this rescue party, he said, drawing his blade, the bright blue metal shining in the sunlight. He held it out for a moment so Ka could inspect it, then sheathed it again. Should we land, or continue on to your brother? Zeke there seems to have made some new friends, he asked, pointing out the woman with golden hair on the black-and-white horse alongside a strange man in a white cloak.

Naor grinned fiercely, Then I would be proud to help you and your Rider, no matter the danger. Between four dragons and three Riders, the foolish enemies that took your Rider's sister and friend stand no chance. She snorted matter of factly, then waited to hear Ka's answer to Asa's question; personally she wanted to leave now, she was eager to meet the other Rider and dragon they had mentioned. He hatched that way? He is indeed unique. At least, I've never met another like him. He's bonded to? Where is his Rider? she asked, slightly confused. She herself never felt comfortable without Asa in her sight, yet here was this other dragon whose Rider was nowhere in sight. She looked behind her and down at the ground, studying the two-leggers on the ground closely, wondering if it was one of them.

Darian didn't think the approaching dragon meant to hurt them, but it still made her nervous. She reached behind her and drew a throwing knife and a few throwing stars from the pouch on the back of her belt. She didn't bother hiding the weapons when she brought her hands forward again. She knew they wouldn't intimidate the dragon, but with luck, she would get in a shot that would distract or incapacitate him long enough for a get away if he attacked. She heard movement beside her and glanced at the stranger standing beside Lyssand.

He had removed his strange white cloak, revealing the red hilt of a strange-looking sword. The way he moved didn't seem overtly threatening, but Darian still nudged Lyssand with her heel, signaling him to back up. She was almost ready to throw her weapons and run for it when the dragon arrived and touched her mind with his own. The spy's mouth twitched almost involuntarily into a smile. Her elven blood always seemed to sing with happiness when she communicated with a dragon. "Greetings, great dragon. I hope you do not mean any harm to myself or my furry friend here," she said nonchalantly. She turned to look at the man with the strange sword when he asked her how she was. "Are you mental or something?" she asked before she could stop herself.

A grin touched Ka's face when Asa mentioned their hurry. "Actually...we were racing to see who could get to my brother first."He said, scratching the back of his head sheepishly. He regained his seriousness when Asa presented his blade for Ka to inspect. Even from where he was he could tell it was a strong blade, one that had seen many other blades edge to edge and come out victorious. He nodded briefly. "We would be happy to have you join us...and lets continue on, Zeke and Osutin can join us in a bit. Osutin is the man in the white cloak, he'll be coming with us as well." Then, he swung his leg over Jia's saddle again. "Though if you don't mind, I prefer flying." He could have rode on Jia's back like a Dragon Rider should, but he enjoyed showing off far to much to worry about something like proper etiquette.

With a small push he slipped off the saddle and began to fall. He wasn't as high this time so he had to touch the Changing Seal in his chest a bit sooner than last time. There was a flash of light that enfulfed him, and when it faded, the red and black dragon that Asa and Naor had seen when the first arrived had taken his place. With a few beats of his wings he drew level with Jia. "Shall we continue then?"

Osu's eye brow raised a fraction when the woman brought forward a few weapons of her own. He wondered for a moment if she had intended those for him or for Zeke, either way they would serve her little good if they really wanted to do her harm, but of course neither of them did. "Greeting Nachel, mate to Mya. This is...I'm afraid I don't know her name."He had switched to speaking mentally so that he didn't freak out the lady any more than he already had.

Her response to his question regarding to how she was amused him more than it probably should have, given who he was. "That, my dear, depends entirely upon who you talk to. But, if you want my opinion, I'm perfectly insane!" He said, giving her a wide grin followed by a overly theatrical laugh, just for kicks. When he was done, he removed his straw hat and looked up at the woman, grinning slightly. "No, I'm not mental. Zeke happens to be a pretty good friend of mine. As are the golden dragon and the red black dragon you see up there." He said, pointing threw the trees. "My name is Osutin Shiori. Ex-Captain of the Seventh Squad of the 13 Court Guard Squads. Not that my title means anything to you of course." He said, giving her a slight bow as he introduced himself. "And who might you be?" He asked as politely as he could, straitening, and replacing his hat.

Jia snorted softly at her Rider and opted to stay close to the new Pair. She nodded and smiled slightly. Aye, he is indeed special. He's soon to have four new hatchlings in his clutch. He could end up passing it on. Oh, Ella? She's probably out doing missions for the Varden. she looked steadily upon Naor and inclined her head slightly. She shielded her next words from Ka, glancing briefly in his direction before continuing. Hopefully it wasn't enough to draw his attention and make him worry. I know how you feel, dear one. Sometimes though..for the greater good...or because you have no choice...you will need to be separated. I love Ka with every fiber of my being and I would whisk him away from danger to keep him safe forever...but we are called to serve and protect others instead. her eyes took on a deeper quality, far wiser behind her years. This is very dangerous...Ka and his brother know that much. One or both of you could be killed easily on this mission. We will still welcome you, but don't feel obligated to stay. You can flee whenever you wish, to protect each other. she blinked, and the wisdom fled, replaced by sparkling mischief. She twisted and slapped her Rider on the flank with her tail, not enough to hurt just sting. Would you stop that. Give me a heart attack every time. she scolded playfully, snorting softly.

- - - - - - - - - -

Zeke chuckled softly. Aye, but that will be remedied soon. he replied privately to Osu, grinning wolfishly. He banked for a clearing beside the rode and alighted lightly on his hindpaws, baring stiring the grass. He folded his wings and dipped his head to Osu and the woman. His eyes twinkled with mischief and he chuckle, vibrating the ground softly. Heavens no, little heart. I am Bonded, I have a Rider. I would not harm a twoleg unless they harmed me or my Rider first, or a friend of mine. he raised on eyeridge and snorted smoke into the male human's face gently. Insane? Right. You are right at the edge of Insanity and prepare to fall into the depths and Loony. he said, and grinned widely, his eyes dancing with humor and mischief. He had broadcasted that so the female could hear, as well as those in the sky. Perfectly insane, indeed. Define 'sane', anyhow. Since we are normal, or insane as you call it, then normal is insane to us. But to those that are normal, we are the insane ones. So, who is really sane or insane? he asked, and laughed joyfully at the brain twister he had just made up on the spot.

Asa nodded, chuckling at the revelation that even on the edge of a possibly deadly mission, his new friends still found time to mess around and have a good time. Most would call that immature, but I think it shows confidence, he said privately to Naor. He could feel her communicating with Jia at that moment, and all he received in reply was a light mind-tap of agreement. He smiled and tried to feel his way around the light wall she had put up between their minds, then flinched and backed off when she mentally flicked him.

It's very rude to eavesdrop. I'll speak with you in a minute, Jia and I are talking about the joys of having Riders, Naor said, twisting her head and neck around to peer at the man sitting on her back. She arched an eyeridge at him for a moment, then turned back to Jia. I know what you mean, recently we had to separate in order to rescue a friend of ours. We could still feel each other, but to not be able to be by his side to protect him... It was tough. I'm just glad he made it back without any serious injuries, she said, feeling the sudden urge to curl up protectively around Asa. She shook off the feeling and returned her attention to the conversation at hand, just in time for Ka to take a flying leap into the air and transform back into a dragon.

"Very nice, can you teach me that trick?" Asa called, grinning broadly and eyeing his new friend with interest. He didn't really want to learn how it was Ka changed forms though; he was so bad at magic, with something that big he'd probably end up changing into something ridiculous, like a goldfish. "Yes, let us be off!" he yelled in reply, eager to be on the way. He clenched his knees and leaned forward a bit to steady himself as Naor increased the beat of her wings and easily climbed higher into the sky.

Darian's lips twitched into an even broader smile at the stranger's reply. "Well I suppose it's alright if you admit it. What's the point of being insane if you can't flaunt it?" she said, chuckling. She lifted her hands to show her weapons, then casually stowed them back in the pouch on her belt. Now that introductions had been made, she felt more at ease around these strangers. Not to mention their body language suggested they were telling the truth about having no desire to attack her. "Thirteen Court Guard Squads? I've never heard of such a thing in any of the realms in Alagaesia, what land do you hale from?" she asked curiously, looking Osutin up and down.

"And as for my name, I am Darian of Vereshae. Don't be worried if you don't know what or where that is. We meant it to be that way. Suffice to say it's a village in the Hadarac, and that's all you need to know," she said cheerfully, extending a hand for the ex-captain to shake. While she was waiting for him to take it, she glanced back to the amethyst dragon before them, Zeke, and nodded politely. "We are well met Zeke Blindscales," she said formally, inclining her head. In the way of her father's people, the elves, she touched the first two fingers of her right hand to her lips, then spoke. "Atra esterni ono thelduin," she said, then waited for him to speak the second part of the phrase.

Ka made a yelping-like sound at the unexpected slap. It didn't hurt so much as caught him off guard. He grinned back at her mischivously. "I know it does, why else would I do it?" He said, laughing and tucking his wings in to spin once in the air. At Asa's question he glanced back at the Rider and Dragon, who where behind and above him now. "To be honest with you I'm not sure that's possible..." He said, facing front, starting to rock back and forth lazily in the air. "You see, the magic that allows me to do that is that of my people...it's different from the magic of the Ancient Language. We can try once we land, but I would advise we start with something simpler, like a hell seal of fire." While the name implied something large and possibly demonic or dastardly, it was actually nothing more than a glorified camp fire without the wood.

After a few more minuets worth of flying, Ka was able to make out the blue/white lump of dragon on the ground next to a blackish figure sitting on a rock; Lee and Rath. He extended his thoughts to them in greeting, to which they both replied quickly, both wondering who the two unknowns were. "Friends. They'll be joining us." Was all he said before disconnecting from them.

"Finally, someone who agrees with me instead of trying to arrest me!" Osutin said grinning and taking Darian's hand and shaking it once and then releasing it. When Zeke spoke his mind-bender, Osu's hand paused in mid air and he blinked, trying to process what the dragon had just said, only getting a headache for his efforts. He let his hand fall and glanced at the dragon, speaking out loud. "Zeke...if you ever say anything remotly like that again around me...I'll stick you in a frilly pink dress and put a bow on your tail." He said with an obvious grin. He wouldn't actually do that, not because he couldn't, but because he didn't think he could take on Zeke, his sister, and her Rider at once once he had. Turning back to Darian his grin faded a bit. "To be blunt, you aren't allowed to know where I come from. Technically speaking you shouldn't know who I am or my title. Just know that I am not from Alageasia." He said, remembering where he had come from and the events that had put him here. They were not happy memories. But, after a few seconds of reminiscence the memories were gone and his grin had returned. "Well...as much as I would love to stick around and listen to you two call each other strange names..." He said, referencing Darien's use of the Ancient Language, glancing from dragon to woman. "I think I'll move on, we have a place to be soon after all, Zeke." He didn't say it directly, but he wanted Zeke to remember that they didn't exactly have much time for too many pleasantries. With a quick bow to Darian, Osutin continued on his way toward the rendezvous location.

Aye, it can be very difficult to let them fly on their own without you to catch them should they bump into something that bites back. Jia snorted softly at her Rider and swept her wings forward. She brushed over her Changing Seal, and after a momentary flash, she dropped onto his back in her Reapric form, balancing easily at the juncture of his neck and shoulders in a low crouch. She scratched under his scales at the soft skin underneath. Are you sure it's wise to teach your magic to a stranger? They may be on our side, but Seals is our Ace in the hole. If no one knows about them, then no one can learn how to counter them. I told you about Crimson and what he did to Zeke's mate and to me to force us to give him two Seals. So he now has a Hell Fire Cannon, I think, and a Changing Seal. And he's learned how to multiply them and make them stronger than the original Seals that we gave him. she murmured quietly. She bowed her head, shame coloring her thoughts at these memories. She should have acted better, then Crimson wouldn't have two quite helpful Seals at his disposal.

- - - - - - - - - -

Zeke laughed at Osutin and grinned. And if you did I would lick you from head to toe with my tongue, then dunk you into ice cold water. Then have Ella dress you up in a formal gown. Probably blue silk. he chuckled deeply, then turned his head to Darian. He smiled and dipped his head to her, rumbling softly with appreciation. Mor'ranr lífa unin hjarta onr, Darian-elda. he murmured in return, his ice blue eyes sparkling. He snorted at Osutin. Oh come now, why the rush? Jessa will be fine, they don't want her dead, they just want her power, as far as I understand it. a different twinkle entered his eye. Unless you have a personal reason to hurry forward to her rescue, hm? he teased. He grinned, and winked at Darian. I think Osutin likes our dear Jessa. he chortled. Ka and Rath will have a field day with this.

"Not allowed to know, hmm? Well that just makes me want to find out all the more. Nevertheless, I suppose we are allies now, and I will respect your privacy," she said, eyeing Osutin curiously.

Darian grinned mischievously, her eyes twinkling evilly as she looked at Osutin. "Osutin, do you have a crush?" she asked, mock-awe thick in her voice. She laughed after a moment and looked up at the sky. "I think they're leaving you," she said, pointing at the sky. She glanced down from the sky to watch Osutin walking away. "And where do you think you're going? You don't honestly think I would let the four of you go off on a rescue mission without an impartial party to keep your heads on straight, do you?" she asked, gesturing at the sky where the other dragons had disappeared from view.

"Oh don't worry, I wasn't being serious. I can barely use Alagaesian magic. Rider I may be, but spellcaster? Not so much," Asa said, chuckling. "If you were going to teach anyone about the magic of your Seals, it would have to be Lee. She is the Rider of Naor's brother, Melanthor. She takes to magic like a fish to water," he continued. He was quiet for a few minutes, enjoying just watching the scenery pass by below. He suspected he had very little time left to enjoy such moments with Naor before the next round of violence and bloodshed entered their lives.

It was in this way he noticed the huge, blue-white shape on the ground ahead of them. From the way it was sparkling marvelously and the size, he had no doubt that it was a dragon, and from the way Jia and Ka reacted to it, it had to be his brother's dragon. Look at that Naor, you two are almost the same color, he said to her.

Yes we are, although I think I might be a shade lighter, she said, cocking her head to the side, sizing up the dragon below. Perhaps, as a favor to me, you could deter your Rider from teaching Asa such tricks. I worry about him enough as he is, she said to Jia dryly. She tilted her wings and drew in the right one a bit, settling into a loose, downward spiral. After a few minutes she landed a good distance away from the new dragon and Rider, folding in her wings before she turned to greet them.

Hello, I am Naor and this is my Rider Asa. We are pleased to meet you, and hope you will accept our help on this quest of yours, she said, dipping her head slightly in greeting.

Post Re: Dedarath
Osu's eye visibly twitched at Zeke and Darian's comment regarding his feelings for Jessa. He stopped and looked up at the dragon with a blank expression, blinking a few times. He couldn't very well use his abilities on a brand new friend, but he could however use them on Zeke instead. Without moving, Osu spoke. "Defy them, Shinzikima..." From Darian's point of view, it would look like Osu was talking to Zeke, when in fact he was actually talking to the sword at his hip, which was no longer there. For a brief moment the sound of sand falling filled the air, and then it was gone. What Osu had just done would probably have gotten him gutted if Jia and Ka saw, around Zeke's middle, just behind his wings, was a pink and white frilly dress with flowery prints. On his tail was a watching pink bow. On both of his horns was pink lace tassels hanging down on either side. And on the dragon's lips was a bright pink paint. The entire time Osu's face was completly emotionless. "You know I'd love to stick around and chat but I've really got to go..." He said, glancing back at Darian with a grin and flash stepping just in time to hide his laughter. Though, with Zeke's dragon hearing, he would probably be able to hear it from a little further down the trail, and moving quickly.

Ka glanced back at Asa, a slight grin touching his face. "Are you sure? It's really simple, all it would require is a thought and a touch of energy, but if you're sure then that's fine. I don't think Naor would like it very much if I was the reason you accidentally turned into a duck." Ka said with a slight chuckle. He wobbled slightly when he felt Jia suddenly land on his back, humming his his chest when she scratched him. "It wouldn't be under different circumstances, but I think we will need all the edge we can get in the coming days or even weeks. We have no idea how long it will take us to resuce Jessa and Mya. The benifites would out weigh the risks here." He said seriously.

Ka landed right next to Lee, settling before he Changed back into his Reaper form.

Rath and Lee watched the dragon's slowly get closer to them "He says they're friends, but how do we know we can really trust them?" Rath said to Lee. The large blue-white dragon looked away from the sky and to her Rider, wisdom shining in her eyes. "Do you always have to be so paranoid?!" She said, her playful whining, tone in stark contrast to the wisdom in her eyes and calm appearance. "You're always doubting people and wondering if someone is gonna sneak up on you or something...don't you ever take a break?!" If another Rider or dragon could hear Lee, it was likely that they would be quite shocked at her speaking habits. "It's a habit." Said Rath in a perfectly calm response. "I naturally suspect that everyone that I don't know whats to do me harm, that way I can watch out for it and see it before it happens." Lee didn't answer him this time, only huffing a little and blowing his hair out of place.

When Ka and Jia landed, followed closly by their new friends, Lee stood and stretched herself a bit and Rath hopped off the rock. It is a pleasure to meet you Naor and Rider Asa. I am Lyedinlel, but you may call me Lee. This is my Rider Rathon, or Rath, and we would be happy to have your assistance on our journey." She said, sounding as most dragons did, wise, polite, and proper. Not at all to how she had sounded a moment ago.

Post Re: Dedarath
Zeke eyed Osu, a sparkle still in his eye. It faded for a moment once he realized what the male had done, but then returned double fold. He heard Osu's laughing, faint, but definitely there. He snorted softly and reached out with his powers and found Osu, so he could track him. He winked at Darian, then raised his wings and followed after Osu. After a half a minute he caught up to the Soul Reaper and snatched the back of his cloths snugly, though carefully so he wouldn't be choked. He beat his wings and lifted into the air, carrying Osu up with him. He shifted his paws so that the male was cradled to his chest instead of hanging down. Oh, you do, do you? Well then, let me help with that.... he smirked, mischief coloring his thoughts as he spoke to Osu.

- - - - - - - - - -

Jia smiled warmly at Naor. Ka is a good teacher. He taught me a few tricks, and magic isn't my strongest suit either. If something went wrong, me or Ka would be able to catch it in time that it would cause no harm. she reassured the female. She pursed her lips and scratched him more, digging in a little with her nails so it would really feel good. I suppose you're right. But still, nothing over the top, like a Death Seal to raise an Undead army, capeesh? she said with a wry grin. She tensed and leaned forward slightly as he landed beside Lee. Her lips quirked, and she jumped to the ground, rolling to absorb the impact. When she popped back to her feet, she was already a dragon again, in all her golden-amethyst scaled glory. She snorted softly and nuzzled her Rider, then gazed back at Naor and Asa as the blue landed. She grinned at the Pair, her teal-green eyes sparkling. Rath and Lee won't bite. Well, Lee won't. Rath might nibble a little before declaring you edible. she teasing, laughing deep in her chest and winking at the older male Reaper.

Post Re: Dedarath
Asa laughed heartily, unbuckling the straps around his legs and jumping to the ground. "I don't think she would either. It might disconcert her a little to hear her Rider quack," he said, still chuckling. He straightened up from the ground and walked over to Rath, Ka's brother. "Naor already introduced me, but it doesn't hurt for me to say hello. I'm Asa, nice to meet you," he said, holding out a hand for the older Reaper brother to shake.

I'm happy to meet you Lee. Tell me, do you have as much trouble having a Rider that can change shapes as it would appear Jia does? I already have enough trouble on my claws keeping Asa safe, at least I don't have to worry about stepping on him if he gets the sudden urge to become a beetle, she said, her eyes sparkling brilliantly. Used to the fact that their four new companions could change their bodies at will, she barely reacted when Jia rolled across the ground, popping back up in her original form. She did watch the transformation curiously, finding it particularly odd when scales started sprouting from her still mostly two-leg form.

Darian's jaw dropped, and she looked from Zeke to Osutin. "Run," she said, though the strange man was already gone. She thought she heard a laugh from further up the road, but it was so faint even to her sensitive hearing, that she couldn't be sure. She looked up just in time to see Zeke flying away, in all his rosy pink glory. "Hey! Wait for us!" she yelled, tapping her heels to Lyssand's flanks. He jumped into a light lope, just keeping the amethyst dragon in their sight. When Zeke dipped down out of sight for a moment, Darian thought he must have landed, but then he reappeared with something black-and-white clutched in his talons.

"Poor sot should have known better than to jack with a dragon. I suppose we'll have to fish him out of a lake or some such situation," she said, shaking her head, a wide grin on her face.

Post Re: Dedarath
OOC: Just a warning Saphira, Lee is what I like to call a 'blond dragon'. So um...expect abnormal dragonic behavior from her xD.

Osu had thought that he had a pretty good lead on Zeke. That is, until he felt the tug on the back on his cloths, promptly followed by his feet leaving the ground. He flailed for a little while, until Zeke got him snugged to his chest rather than dangling in the air. "H-hey! Zeke! Let me go!" He said, both mentally and vocally, followed by a few words that shouldn't be said in front of a lady. He would have resealed his sword, which would have taken away the 'additions' Osu had made to Zeke's appearance, but since his arms were pinned between his stomach and Zeke's chest, he couldn't very well do that.

Rath took Asa's hand and shook it firmly, nodding once. "I'm Rathon, you can call me Rath. It's nice to meet you too." Lee snaked her head over to Asa and snuffled his cloths in a silent greeting. When Naor asked her if she had a problem with her Rider Changing forms, she looked at the other dragon with genuine confusion, then spoke openly with her mind so everyone could hear. "What do you mean a Rider that can change? I've never seen my Rathy-pie change shapes at all. Is there something you're not telling me Rath?! Rath?" She looked over from Naor to her Rider, who now held the most mortified expression she had ever seen. "Rath? Are you ok?" She asked tentatively. An eye twitch was her only response.

"R-Rathy-pie?" He said, sounding as mortified as he looked. "Lee...what did I tell you about using that name in public..." Lee looked at him, and then at Asa and Naor. "Oh...oops, sorry." She said bashfully, and retreated a little ways to curl up behind the rock Rath was sitting on and just watch.

"Ok I promise." Ka said with a slight smirk to Jia. Ka had been going to suggest to Asa that he let Ka show him a few simple Seals, but stopped when he heard Lee's nickname for his brother. What she had called him didn't fully register until Lee had retreated to behind the rock, then Ka burst into a loud laughter. He was laughing so hard that his legs actually gave out and he fell to the ground, and continued to laugh while rolling around on his back. Rath glared at him hard, but he couldn't see it passed his tears of laughter.

Zeke snorted softly and grinned wolfishly down at Osutin. I doubt you would actually want me to let go at this very moment. We are quite high up now. I shall let you climb onto my back and sit with Nachel, however. he chuckled softly, and shifted his forelegs slightly so that Osu could climb up his leg and shoulder and so settle on his back at the juncture of his neck and shoulders.

- - - - - - - - - -

Jia's eyes widened at Lee and what she called Rath. She caught on a little quicker than her Rider, but not by much. She snorted with suppressed laughter, then gave up and opened her jaws wide, a rasping sound that was the dragon version of laughter coming up her throat and vibrating her chest.

Post Re: Dedarath
Ooc: Is it bad that when I read that nickname I had a mental image of Lee, in a sing-song voice, saying, "Rathy-poo, I see you!"

Asa stopped dead, Lee's words echoing in his head. He looked at Naor for confirmation that he had heard the other dragoness correctly. "Rathy pie?" he asked in confusion, watching as Ka collapsed to the ground in a fit of mirth. He felt a smile twitching at the corners of his lips and turned quickly away, making a show of surveying the sky so Rath could salvage some of his pride. Naor, if you really love me, you'll never give me a pet name like that, he said, an almost pleading note to his voice as he considered the damage it would cause to his manly reputation.

Oh I would never consider such a thing... Unless you really displease me, then I might let something slip, Naor replied, a roguish twinkle in her eyes.

Darian chuckled, she could hear faint cries on the wind, presumably coming from Osu as he begged to be let back on the ground. Before long she could just barely see the two of them, but after a few more minutes she emerged out of the tree cover onto the side of a large, dry gulch. On the other side she could make out several large, glittering shapes that could only be dragons. Looks like we've almost caught up to the group, she said, pointing them out to Lyssand. The small piebald snorted in reply and started picking his way down the side of the gulch as Darian slid out of the saddle to give him an easier time. When they reached the bottom she took a moment to scope out their surroundings, then remounted the piebald gelding and they continued on their way.

OOC: xD No cause she would probably actually say something like that.

Osu growled a bit to himself when Zeke didn't let him go. He could air skate to the ground no matter how high up he was, but he had never rode on a dragon before so he didn't argue the point. When Zeke shifted so he could climb, he scrambled up his leg and onto his back, sitting behind Nachel. He gave the wolf a slight nod in greeting and then recalled his zanpakuto, returning Zeke to his normal appearance.

Rath stood there for a few seconds, letting everyone have their little laugh at his expense. Once he though it was enough, he raised his right hand and made a small hell seal of fireballs and fired it at Ka. He missed on purpose of course, hitting the ground next to his brother, but it still got the message across. Ka, who hadn't been expecting the sudden increase in temperature so close to him, yelped and rolled away from the fire, ending up on his back and glaring upside down at his brother before he stood up and dusted himself off and returned to Jia's side. Rath gave him a grin and turned around to sit back down on his rock. "Now then, if everyone has had a nice laugh, once everyone else gets here, we can start going over how we are going to get into Dedarath, and then how we are going to get to Irestol, and finally how we are going to get into Karite Castle."

Zeke chuckled to himself and circled over the group ahead and below him, slowly descending in a loose spiral. Once he finally reached the ground he flared his wings and backpedaled lightly, landing with a ripple of muscle to absorb the shock. He dropped to his forelegs then shook himself and lowered his shoulder to the ground. Nachel was the first to dismount, already in his twoleg wolf form. His ears pricked forward at Rath's voice, and his savage gold eyes, all the more so since he learned of Mya's fate, slashed at the male Reaper,"I will go through the fires of the pit to get my mate back. If you need a path cleared, then send me forward first. I will raze anything that stands in our path to the ground." he bared his teeth in a silent snarl, his ears flattening to his skull. Zeke snorted smoke to surround the alpha wolf warrior. Would you die to leave your mate alone, Nachel? Be patient with us and go where they wish to take us, and we will get your mate back, I promise you. Be cunning like the lynx, patient like the raven, swift like the hare, and we will succeed. You understand? Nachel's fur bristled, but he nodded and stepped back once more,"Very well, but my offer still stands." he murmured quietly, his ears twitching.

- - - - - - - - - -

Jia huffed as Ka yelped and rolled, and she eyed Rath balefully. She snorted softly and nuzzled Ka's side once he returned to her. She laid down on her stomach and started to lick clean her talons to make sure they shone like snow. Zeke cleared his throat and sat, ruffling his wings. We have one other possibly joining us, an elf named Darian. I would believe that is her coming now. he said, gesturing with his tail to the figure on horseback approaching from the same direction that himself, Nachel and Osu had been taken.

Post Re: Dedarath
Asa's face blanched a bit when Rath started shooting fireballs all around his friends. The tall Rider took a step back and held his hand in front of his face to protect it from the sudden flare up in temperature. He stood like that for a minute until all was quiet again, then gingerly lowered his arm and looked around. "I assume that was one of those seals you mentioned?" he asked Ka, looking at the other Rider, who was laying on the ground where he had landed to avoid his brother's playful attack. He looked up to watch the amethyst dragon from earlier come in to land, now with two passengers on his back.

He murmured a greeting to the two-legged newcomers and gave a short bow to the dragon. After he straightened up, he eyed the golden-eyed man curiously. He seemed human enough, but the way he spoke about throwing himself into the face of danger for his loved one... There was nothing wrong with it, but Asa got an almost feral feel off of the man as he spoke. "You are very brave," he said suddenly, looking him up and down curiously.

Or very foolish... Naor whispered in his mind, lightly brushing against the far corners of his mind. He could sense her unease about the level of bloodthirst in a seemingly normal human, and the fact that there was something strange about his scent only exacorbated her enhanced the feeling.

Calm yourself Naor, I'm certain this fellow is alright. Definitely a little odd, but no one we have to worry about at the moment, he said gently, stepping beside her and placing a warm, rough hand on her jaw.

I trust your instinct, but if we weren't all working together, I wonder what you'd be reading him as, she replied, wrapping her tail possessively around his ankles and watching the stranger with her deep blue gaze.

He shook his head, smiling slightly at her need to always protect him from danger, no matter how small. As a Rider and her bonded partner he understood it and appreciated it, but sometimes he still found the depth of it a little ridiculous. "I'm Asa, this is Naor," he said to the other newcomer, a tall man in a strange white cloak. "And Jia's brother is right, there comes someone else now. Wow, her horse sure stands out, doesn't he?" he said, pointing out the horse and rider.

As a half-elf, Darian had the astoundingly acute hearing of her father's people, therefore she was able to hear the remark the huge Rider by the darker blue dragon made about Lyssand quite clearly, even though they were out of hearing range of normal humans. She tapped Lyssand with her heels and he changed easily from a trot to hard lope. They reached the group in no time and she flew off of his back, hissing like an enraged goose. "If you have something to say about Lyssand, say it to my face!" she growled, striding up to him and putting her face right in his.

Ka grinned a tad and nodded to Asa. "Yup, that was a Hellseal of Fireballs, one of the more simple spells. Simple, but effective. My offer still stands if you wish to learn." He said, and sat down against Jia's side. He already knew the plan, so he didn't need to see the map his brother had kept from his childhood.

Osu hopped off Zeke's back a few seconds after Nachel did, taking up a station next to Zeke. He gave a small nod to Asa in acknowledgment. "I am Osutin Shiori. It is a pleasure to meet you Rider Asa and Naor-elda." He used the only honorific he knew in the Ancient Language, hoping he had used it right. When Darien finally arrived, Osu noticed she seemed rather upset. Seeing as she was getting in Asa's face and saying something about talking about her horse. In an instant he was behind her with a hand laying on her shoulder gently. "Darien...why don't you calm down, I'm sure Asa didn't mean what he said in a negative way...did he?" At the last part Osu glanced up at Asa.

Rath nodded at Zeke when he said they may have one other coming to join them, and decided to wait until everyone had arrived. Once she had, Rath opened his mouth to call everyone to pay attention, them promptly shut it again when he saw that she had some kind of problem with Asa. He had been about to intervene himself, but Osu beat him to it.

Nachel met the male twoleg, Asa's, eyes, and held his gaze. He didn't move in a hostile way, but the movement was very deliberate. He raised one eyebrow. "Wolves are very protective of their mates. I would do anything for my Mya, as I believe you would do the same for your Naor." he stated simply, shrugging his shoulders. His mane, which for all standards looked like regular human hair, was thick and fur-like, and tapered to a point at the middle of his back. The male wolf glanced at the female, Darian, then, and tilted his head sharply. He blinked, and spoke. "Asa meant no disrespect, Darian Alpha-kii, he was only stating a fact about your noble Lyssand. His coloring is noticeable, but suits him quite well, I think." he murmured, inclining his head respectfully to the female human. Alpha-kii was a respectful term for non-wolf races, and meant that were they a wolf, they would be very strong-willed and a capable fighter.

Post Re: Dedarath
Asa shook his head stupidly, backing quickly away from the hissing woman in front of him. "N-no! No disrespect! It's just I've never seen a horse colored like him before!" he said, lifting an arm to protect himself from any oncoming blows. Naor, do something! That mad woman is gonna kill me for being curious about her horse! he yelped silently. To his dismay Naor only uttered a coughing growl, her version of laughter. He supposed he did make a sight, a six foot plus man cowering away from a girl a foot shorter than himself.

Peace young one, Asa truly only meant your Lyssand has an interesting color about him, Naor said, still chuckling. Heavy smoke spouted from her nostrils from her laughter, covering the group. She heard Nachel's words to Asa and looked at him again, eyeing him. She wasn't hostile, but she stared long and hard, studying him closely.

Darian tried to shrug off Osutin's hand, a wet chill permeating the air to go along with her indignant mood. "Interesting or not, I'm watching you. No one makes fun of Lyssand!" she said, jabbing a finger in the Rider's stomach. She snorted dismissively at the owl-like eyes peeping over the raised arm at her, then promptly turned her back on them. "Thank you Nachel, for your wise words. I think I might have done something rash without your interference and that of Osu here," she said politely, calm as quickly as she had been enraged.

How far do you have to travel and how soon do you leave? Lyssand asked Rath, as if the distraction had never occured.

Osu removed his hand when Darian shrugged it off, but didn't move away just yet. He hadn't realized how protective of the horse the woman was, and made a mental note not to cross her about it. Once her temper seemed to have died down a bit, he took a few steps away and crossed his arms, watching the group as a whole now.

Rath watched, mildly amused, as the Rider cowered away from the shorter woman. He couldn't say he wouldn't do that same thing though. She had a fire about her that seemed to be able to catch as quickly as paper to an open flame. Once she had calmed he sighed a bit. When Lyssand asked him how far they would be travelling though, he stiffened slightly. He had never met a horse capable of coherent speech like that. The most he had heard a horse say understandably was 'food' or 'tired'. He wanted to ask Darien about it, but thought better of it, lest he become the target of her wrath next. He answered the question out loud, where everyone could hear. "We will be traveling to the Beor Mountains, and then beyond them to our, Ka and mine's, homeland of Dedarath." He had planned on showing them a map of the land, but then he got a better idea.

He knew the map like the back of his hand, having studied it for hours as a child. It was probably outdated, but it would serve their purpose. He touched the mind of everyone present and sent the still image of the map to them so they would all be able to see it. "This is our homeland of Dedarath. To get to it, we must pass threw what is known as a Temporal Barrier, it keeps our land in a separate time and space to this one. We will likely come out near Brlyn, so that will be our first stop. Once there, we will move north to Glan'nari. From there we will move threw the regions of Tenedar and Extelen. In Extelen it is likely we will be confront by guards, so everyone will have to look like a Reaper, Ka and I can handle that though. Sorry Lyssand, Dedarath doesn't have horses. Our horse is called a Grek'tul, and looks like an over grown dog with tusks." He paused a moment to consult his original map. "From Extelen we will move to the checkpoint in Krexus, the military capitol, to be checked into the Capetala district. From there we move to Maylin to resupply and figure out how we are going to get into Karite Castle." He turned back around and faced the group. "Questions anyone?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow up.

Nachel smiled slightly and dipped his head to Darian, then listened carefully to Rath and what he needed to say. The male werewolf snorted softly, his mane bristling, but he remained silent. He tilted his head. "Yes, actually. How do you plan on disguising the dragons, myself, noble Lyssand, Darian, Osu, and Asa?" he murmured, raising an eyebrow.

Asa listened closely to the plan, still leaning slightly away from Darian. In his mind, he studied the map Rath was showing them, commiting it to memory in case he became separated from the group and needed to find where they would most likely be. "I imagine he'll glamour the two-legs to look like Reapers or commoners, while Lyssand will have the honor of being a giant, tusked dog," he said aloud, using the dragons term for humanoids to describe their diverse group. "What about the dragons though? Are there dragons in your homeland?" he asked, pulling away from Rath's mind so he could see the Reaper clearly.

Darian peered out from under her lashes at Nachel when he called Lyssand noble, but she didn't say anything, despite the small, amused smile that flickered across her lips. She really hadn't meant to go off like that, she was just very tired of people down-playing Lyssand simply because he looked strange. She felt when the Rider Asa pulled away from their linked minds, and did the same. "I'm curious about that as well, although for a different reason. If you use your odd brand of magic to change our appearances, will the other Reapers be able to sense it? Since my accident, I can't use even the smallest of spells, let alone the one's required to change what I look like. I'm entirely in your hands on this one," she said, frowning at the two Reaper brothers.

When she said "accident" she twirled her hand through the air and allowed the water in the air to condense around it, so they would see she wasn't entirely helpless. She willed the water into a rope that twined through her fingers like a snake for a few seconds, then shook her hand and dispersed the water.

Post Re: Dedarath
Rath thought for a moment about their questions. He had thought about it himself, for quite a while. He had come up with various ideas, and thought that he might have one that would work. "The only time we'll have to worry about that will be in the military sectors, where we will be scanned and checked. Normal people on the street probably wouldn't notice us a bit more than they would an elf wearing a hood to hide their ears." He paused for a moment to think, and began pacing. "I've been thinking about this for a while, and I think I might have a solution. All of us will become Reapers, I would change the dragons and Lyssand into the Grek'tul but I don't know enough about them to get a good fake image. Normally, when searching for a fake, they search for an underlying energy signature. To trick this, I will completely cover all of your energy signatures with something similar to mine and Ka's, but different. That way we can go under the guise of a band of traveling merchants. You will be able to tap into the energy if you need to do something, but it will wear away at the cover, so I would suggest letting Ka and I handle the magic while we're in towns if we need to." He stopped pacing and faced the group. "So who would like to under go the first transformation...we should do it soon so you all, especially the four-legged ones among us, have time to get use to a two-legged body."

Jia listened quietly to is plans, nodding from time to time with something she agreed with or liked the sound of. She snorted softly, and tapped into her Changing Seal. A soft light enveloped her, and when it cleared, she was no longer in the shape of a dragon. Her hair was in a thick braid over one shoulder, the same golden-streaked-amethyst color as her scales, her eyes the same teal-green. Her clothes were simple, a tan top that dropped off her shoulders and clung to her arms and waist like a second skin and a ankle length black skirt with a slit on the side up to her thigh. She crossed her arms over her chest and smiled at Rathon, her eyes glittering. "Beg pardon, but I've already gotten the twoleg thing down pat." she grinned mischievously. She leaned back against Ka and relaxed, a small smile still on her lips.

Zeke snorted softly and winked at his sister, then took a step forward. I will go first, if the rest of you don't mind. Reapric magic is harmless if used correctly, as Jia just showed. he said, and chuckled lightly in his chest.

"I've no objections, it is a good plan. Honestly I'm curious to see what Lyssand looks like as a human, or should I say Reaper?" she said, a smile curling across her lips. She watched Jia with a mildly curious look on her face, while on the inside she reeled at watching a dragon change forms so easily into a two-legged body. "Oh is that all?" she said nonchalantly. Lyssand snorted at her supposed cool and calm demeanor and shoved against her with his shoulder.

I will go after Zeke, if you all don't mind, he said, stepping forward. He hesitated a second and looked at Ka. What should Darian do with my saddle? It contains most of her belongings and our supplies, he asked.

Of the newcomers, Asa and Naor were the only one's that truly did not react to Jia changing forms, though they also watched with interest. "You think that's odd? He does it to, except he turns into a great, honking big black and red dragon," Asa said, twitching a finger to indicate Ka. "How great a change will you need to work on our appearance?" he asked, indicating himself and Darian. He eyed the blonde girl cautiously when she spoke about being curious about seeing Lyssand as a human. Oh sure, she's allowed to say it's curious, he muttered to Naor.

Yes she is, he's her horse, Naor said, snorting in his ear. Being the dragon of a somewhat magically inept Rider, I think I will sit back and let the others go ahead of me. I'm leary of accidentally being turned into a pheasant or something, she said in a teasing tone. In truth, she wasn't worried at all, she just wanted to ensure that Asa was safely encased in the strange magic before she let herself be protected. She loosed a coughing growl at Asa's spluttered protestations about his magical skill.

Post Re: Dedarath
OOC:
Hokay enough of a break here. >.< Let's get this ball rolling again, or try to.

IC:
"Essentially we are human, just a different branch of human race, similar to the elves." he said in response to Darian's inquiry. Rath nodded slowly at Zeke. "Good, good. Alright, come over here and I'll cast the Seal over you. And don't worry," he winked at Darian,"I won't bite. Well, maybe nibble slightly and declare you edible, but that's all, truly." he said, bowing his head. Zeke snorted softly and trotted forward, coming to a stop in front of him. The oldest Reaper sibling lifted one hand and faced his palm outward; hovering a few inches in front of his hand was a grey and dark blue Void Seal. He glanced at Asa as he began to work, raising his eyebrows in thought as he studied Asa, Darian, and Osu. "Truly, not much. As I said, work a energy signature over your own so you appear to be a Reaper...maybe change your eye and hair color a bit, nothing too drastic. I'm not going to turn you into something as different from what you are now, say a duck. You already appear human, now you just need the touch-ups." he explained patiently, smiling a little. By the time he finished, Zeke was standing on two legs. He wobbled and tottered, in danger of falling and performing a face plant, to which Rath would have laughed his head off, but luckily baby sister was there to save the day and rushed in to support her big brother. He almost pouted at the loss of opportunity to laugh at a dragon with almost no promise of retaliation. He paused a little to study the amethyst dragon in his human form; tall, around six and a half feet tall, strong muscles, lean with them. His hair was the same as his scales, amethyst, but it had jagged streaks of ice blue too. Odd. But it would fit in around Dedarath, so not too much of a problem. "Alright, Zeke, you and Jia go off to the side and practice Mobility 101, I'll work on Lyssand here." Rath frowned however at the mention of the saddlebags; he hadn't thought of that, and he wasn't going to suggest they leave all their supplies here and go to Dedarath bare handed, that would be stupid. He cocked his head to one side. "Would you be comfortable with letting all of us carry a few things of your supplies? Once we are all in twoleg forms, there will be ten of us, that should give us enough hands to share the burden." he offered. He hesitated briefly, then spoke up again. "Or I can create a Void Seal for you that will carry all of your belongings in a pocket of space near you that you can summon, reach inside, and retrieve what you need, then dispel it." he held up one hand again, the grey and dark blue Void Seal once more visible. "While you think that over, Lyssand, if you could please stand in front of me." he winked at the blue dragoness at her comment. "And of course, Naor, I understand. So it shall be Lyssand and Lee that are Changed first of the fourlegs. While I work on that, Darian, Osu, Asa, you figure out between you three who's going next, then Naor you can go last. Sound good to everyone?" he glanced around. Osu raised his hand. Rath grinned. "Yes?" "Just wondering, what should I do with my Zanpakuto, Shinzikima." he asked. "And possibly my Ca-my white overcoat." Rath raised an eyebrow at the catch, but decided to ask later. "Your...weapon, Zonpoktoe or whatever, is part of your fighting abilities?" the Soul Reaper nodded, his eyebrow twitching. "Alright then, keep it on you, just try not to draw too much attention to it. Hide it in your robes while we're in towns or something. Your overcoat...no idea. Could lump it in with Darian's stuff if she takes the Void Seal option." he shrugged.

Darian hesitated for a moment, thinking of the maps and sensitive documents bound for her home, then nodded at Rath. "I'll let you create the Void thing, although give me a moment," she said, stepping up next to Lyssand. She rummaged inside his saddle bags for a moment and removed her extra weapons, along with a light kit that had the bare essentials for cleaning and sharpening them. Tucking them into the inside pockets of her cloak, she stepped away, gesturing for Rath to continue.

Hope he doesn't forget to hide your tail, she whispered to Lyssand.

Don't be ridiculous, of course he'll make sure I'm completely covered. He didn't forget Zeke's tail did he? the piebald snorted, pawing a hoof into the ground in the amethyst dragon's direction.

Darian looked over at the man who was Zeke in disguise, eying him curiously. She cocked an eyebrow at his flamboyant hair, snickering into her hand while he stumbled around on Jia's arm. "I didn't know dragons were into binge drinking," she said with a straight face.

"Well if Naor gets to go last, I want to as well," Asa said, looking at Osu and Darian to see what they thought. The blonde spy just shrugged and said, "I'll go first after the dragons I suppose."

"Zanpoktoe?" Asa asked innocently, turning to Osu. He pondered the term "Zanpakuto" and eyed the sword at the man's side curiously, wondering what kind of weapon deserved such a strange title. He frowned and gripped the pommel of his own blue-bladed weapon. "I don't suppose this would be considered normal in Dedarath, would it?" he asked, drawing the blade, letting the bright sunshine spill down the expertly crafted weapon. It sparkled a brilliant sky blue, much like Naor's scales.

Post Re: Dedarath
Zeke glared halfheartedly at Darian, but there was a twinkle in his eyes that acknowledged that she was only teasing. Jia squeezed his shoulder lightly. "Just pretend your balancing on your hindlegs with your tail tucked as close as possible to your body." she advised. He thought about it, about how that felt to walk on his hindlegs, and he steadied on his feet nearly instantly. He shot a grin at Darian. "Just a slight buzz, nothing I can't handle." he said with a laugh. Then he blinked in surprise. He had spoken verbally without even pausing to think about it. His voice was deep and soothing, rumbling in his chest in a similar way that he might rumble while in dragon form. It felt strange, the vibrations that tickled ever so lightly in his throat when he spoke.

- - - - - - - - - -

Osu cursed to himself for using the name of his Zanpakuto carelessly. He eyed Asa at his question, and decided that a shrug would be the best response. He shrugged. "It's the type of weapon it is, just a name, like a falchion, katana, kusari, scythe, broadsword, axe. You get what I mean." he said. The kicker, he wasn't even lying. A Zanpakuto was a weapon specifically made for Soul Reapers, sure, but it was still a type of weapon nonetheless. A small smile wiggled its way across his face for his wordplay. He didn't notice, however, how Zeke was studying him curiously. Osu cocked his head to the side at Asa once more, scanning the sword that he drew. He was forced to blink a few times as the sun sent the blade to sparkling and shimmering. "That is a very well crafted weapon." he commented. "And I guess I'll go after Darian then." he added, crossing his arms lightly and leaning back against a stone.

- - - - - - - - - -

Rathon waited patiently for Darian to remove the supplies, smiling slightly at the bantering that flew around the camp. He shook his head slightly, chuckling, then looked over at Asa when he called his attention. He studied the weapon carefully and pursed his lips. "Aye, it is a little conspicuous...Here," he motioned to a brown satchel that was leaning against Lee's left foreleg,"inside my pack are strips of black leather, you can tie them around the sheath and hilt to hide the color. Hopefully, if everything goes as planned, we won't have to worry about you drawing it for the blade to be seen, because we won't have to fight." he said this with a grimace. He turned back to Lyssand and channeled energy into the Seal in his palm. There was a low flash of light, and when it cleared, the piebald now stood in his Reaper form.

OOC:
You shall decide what Lyssand and Naor look like. :P Usually the eyes are the same color, and the hair generally (for a dragon, no idea what it could be for Lyssand) is the same/similar to their scale color.

Post Re: Dedarath
Darian squinted unnecessarily at the flash of light that accompanied Rath's use of his Seal, then opened her eyes fully after it cleared and inspected Lyssand's new two-legged form. Contrary to his short equine body, his Reaper form was tall, almost as tall as Zeke's Reaper form. Despite his new longer frame, his muscles hadn't filled out to accompany it and he was quite thin and lanky. His skin was pale white, almost as snowy as the white patches on his equine coat. His hair was shaggy and pitch black with little sweeps of white throughout it. The bangs swept into his eyes like his forelock did in his normal body. He was wearing a black, rather tight fitting jacket with a white shirt underneath, black pants, and dark brown boots.

How do I look? he asked, a slight note of anxiety in his voice. Despite his calm demeanor before, it occured to him now how silly he would look if Rath had forgotten to hide his tail. He tried to turn and look behind him, but stumbled, almost going to his hands and knees in front of Rath.

"Whoah there, looks like Zeke wasn't the only one hitting the special sauce last night," Darian chuckled, catching him before he fell. She wrapped his left arm around her neck and steadied him. "Time to walk it out I think, before Rath says it's my turn," she said to him. She heard Zeke reply and looked at him, an eyebrow cocked. "Slight buzz, yeah, sure," she teased.

"Interesting name for a weapon type," Asa said. Raised by a soldier as he had been, he knew that each of the types of weapons Osu mentioned had their own quirks that made them what they were. He couldn't help but wonder what quality the man's weapon had that set it apart from the rest. He went over to the pack Rath had indicated and fished around inside, trying not to pry too much in his search. He pulled the strips and pieces of leather free, then went off to the side of their group to cover his weapon.

Unbuckling his belt, he pulled his sheath free of it, the carefully placed the leather around it, lacing it in place with the strips. He frowned for a minute before covering the hilt, trying to find a way that the covering wouldn't slide in his grip and mess with his fighting. Finally he just shrugged and tied a strip of leather in place around it, tying the strip around it as tightly as he could.

He stood up and glanced at Lyssand, taking in the horse's new body. "What will he do for fighting? All of his natural weapons are gone," he asked Darian.

Don't worry about that, my body still feels the same, in fact... Lyssand replied, his words drifting off. He was feeling quite steady on his feet already and stepped away from Darian. She looked at him with an arched eyebrow, and he grinned back at her. The movement of the muscles in his face was strange, but he understood that the facial expression was somehow comforting to two-legs, so he smiled. Then he took a step, and another and another, each faster than the last, until he was running circles around their group with all the speed, agility, and power as he usually possessed. You may have altered my appearance, but it would seem I still have my natural abilities. I'm not as fast as an elf and maybe you Reapers, but I am more than I seem, and therefore have the element of surprise on my side, he said, coming to a stop beside Darian.

"Ok, so we don't have to worry about him," Asa said, satisfied. "Although I'm not quite done picking on you, it probably would be best if you spoke aloud as Zeke does, if you can," he said to the horse in disguise. He looked at Rath for confirmation that this would be best.

Post Re: Dedarath
Rathon chuckled as Lyssand stumbled a bit when looking behind him to check for his tail. "Don't worry, I got everything." he assured. While he got used to his new twoleg form, and even showed off a little, Rath turned to his partner-of-heart and repeated the process. He looked away briefly from the flash of light, but turned his head back quickly. He had to blink when he saw Lee in her twoleg form. She was a few inches shorter than he was, and her hair was a soft silvery blue that feathered around the top of her shoulders. Her skin likewise was pale, fair, not quite as snowy as Lyssand's had been. She wore a plain white tunic and light grey skirt, which he thanked the gods for. She blinked several times and looked around, her eyes wide. "You humans are so darned -short-. How do you see anything way down here." she huffed. She shifted to take a step forward but did so too quickly and pitched forward with a surprised squeal, pin-wheeling her arms. Rath sprang forward and caught her, holding her against him so she could use him to keep her balance. She looked up at him in surprise, then smiled widely and kissed him on the cheek. "Such a prince you are. Thank you for catching me." she said. Rath blushed slightly and smiled back. "It was nothing." he murmured, squeezing her shoulders lightly. Keeping one arm protectively around her, he looked up at Asa for his question. He nodded once and glanced at Lyssand. "Aye, he speaks the truth. Among the group when we are traveling alone, speaking with your mind is fine, but once we enter a city you'll have to speak at least a word or two. Practicing now is a good idea too, for when we arrive." he lifted an eyebrow at Darian and raised his hand up towards her. "Remember, no ducks or toads, just enhancing what you already have." he said, and smiled.

"Sure, just remember, if you do change me into a duck, I'll freeze you in a glacier up to your neckbone, tail feathers or no," she said, smiling sweetly. She stepped forward and allowed the Reaper to work his strange magic. After the flash of light she reached into Lyssand's mind so she could see what she looked like to the others. She was still wearing the same clothes, and as far as she could tell, she looked exactly the same. The only new additions she could detect was a border of bright blue along the bottom of her hair and a strange sheen to her skin. "What's with the shiny? Looks like I'm coated in ice," she demanded, waving her hand to show off the shimmering and punctuate what she meant.

Naor craned her head over Lee and sniffed. You still smell like a dragon. How does it feel? she asked, twisting her head so that she was peering down at the other dragoness with one eye.

Rath shrugged and grinned at Darian. "Honestly no clue. If you have an ability with water or ice, that could be why. Even us Reapers don't sometimes understand why our Seals do things." he said. He studied her briefly, then smiled. "It would definitely make a complete stranger think twice about bothering you, citizen or guard or not." he commented. He turned to Osu who seemed a little apprehensive, but the Soul Reaper stepped forward anyway. The light engulfed him and disappeared quickly. It hadn't changed much like with Darian, but added a few things. One eye was it's usual brown, but the other was an odd, cool yellow-gold. His skin was a darker shade, and his hair a deeper color, but that seemed to be all the change he needed. Osu relaxed visibly and stepped aside to lean on the rock again. Rath shook his head and turned to Asa. "You ready?" he asked the male, cocking one eyebrow.

- - - - - - - - - -

Lee considered Naor's question seriously. She cocked her head and pursed her lips, then replied. I guess because of being bonded to a twoleg, it doesn't really seem that strange. I mean, my balance is terrible at the moment, but I don't mind him helping. she admitted, speaking mentally on reflex. Walking and talking is not so strange. This, however, she paused and glanced at Rath, who still had his arm around her shoulders in a protective way, [/i]will take some time getting used to. But it feels nice too.[/i] abruptly she grinned, her deep blue eyes shining. I can tease him in so many new ways now! I must start thinking of some immediately, in case I need them. she crossed her arms over her chest and tried to imitate the expression Rath used whenever he was thinking very hard on something.

Post Re: Dedarath
Darian frowned, then looked up at the Reaper. "Well now that you mention it, I guess it does make sense," she said, holding up her hand. There was a small cyclone of water spinning on it, created from the water she had pulled from the air. It looked especially odd with the blinking lights her shining skin was throwing onto it. "I suppose I can live with it, it's not like I'm sparkling rainbows or something," she said pensively, closing her hand over the cyclone. The water trickled from between her fingers, dissipating back into the air before it hit the ground.

"I suppose," Asa said, grimly, stepping forward. As with all those before him, there was a flash of light and then he looked around at Naor to see what she thought of his new look. He reached into her mind and looked at himself through her eyes. His eyes were now the deepest shade of blue imaginable, shot through with little strips of silver and sky blue. His hair was longer and wilder, the brown curls down to his shoulders. The blue and silver theme was repeated here, with silver at his temples and the blue striped randomly throughout. His height was the same, but apparently Reapers were thinner than himself, because his body was slimmer than it should have been.

Returning to his own mind, he smiled. "At least my skin doesn't glow," he said thankfully, buckling his swordbelt back on.

Darian glared at him waspishly. "And at least I don't look a hundred years old, grandma," she said snidely, indicating the silver in his hair. Lyssand and Naor both started to laugh, but cut it off into coughing fits at the same time.

Rathon grinned widely and tried to hide the chuckle behind clearing his throat as he listened to them bantering back and forth. He shook his head, his eyes glittering with humor. "You guys are impossible, you know that? If the four of you were stuck in a room, I have no idea who would make it out alive." he teased. He turned, at last, to Naor, and raised his hand up to her as well, a Seal already waiting to be used.

Post Re: Dedarath
"Probably Lyssand because he'd knock us all on the head just for the sake of quiet," Darian said with a chuckle, ruffling her mounts now-human hair.

Naor stepped forward and dipped her head in front of Rath. Here goes nothing I suppose, she said with an excited growl. There was the flash of light and she felt herself shrinking and her tail swooshing up into her body, her least favorite sensation out of the entire process, and then she was stumbling backward into Asa's arms. Suddenly Asa yelped and twisted around, dragging her around with him so that he was in front of her with his back to the others, shielding her from curious eyes. What are you hollering about? she asked him, arching her human eyebrow at him.

Naor, you're naked! he hissed silently. "Someone toss her a jacket, please," he begged, turning so that she was tucked behind him in his arms and he was facing the others. A grey wool cloak hit him in the face from his right and he peeled it off, looking for who had thrown it. Darian was standing there in a short-sleeved shirt and tunic, an impressive array of weaponry displayed on her bare forearms that they hadn't been able to see while she was wearing the cloak. "Thanks," he said, turning and fitting the cloak around Naor.

When she was covered he stepped away and looked at Rath. "Can you do something or is she going to have to run around like this the whole time?" he asked him. Darian's cloak was alright, but now that he could look at her, he could see that while she was still rather small, she was taller than Darian and none of the spy's other clothes would fit.

In all, Naor's Reaper form was beautiful, though not in a flashy way, if you didn't consider her pale, icy white-blue hair with it's streaks of darker blue flashy. She was shorter than he was by about half a foot and slender. Her skin was white, but hinted at blue, reminding Asa uncomfortably of someone who had been drowned or had hypothermia. Her lips were as sky blue as her scales normally were, accenting her pale blue eyebrows and sparkling eyes, which were a shade darker than usual. The nails on her hands and barefeet looked like they had been painted, they were the same blue as her hair and were as sharp, pointed, and curved as her normal talons. He also noticed, with much chagrin, that she was quite shapely, and that Darian's cloak did a poor job of hiding it.

He glared at the other male members of the group, making sure none of them took any particular interest in her appearance. Vaguely it occured to him that Naor wasn't stumbling around as the others had done. He supposed that whatever Lee had said to her had prepared her for the unsteadiness she would have been feeling.

"Oh stop being such a caveman Asa," Naor said exasperatedly. Her voice was higher and richer when heard aloud than was her thought-voice. She quite liked the sound of it.

Rathon blushed bright crimson and averted his eyes instantly from Naor's form. "My deepest apologies for that, Asa, Naor, sometimes the Seal acts up like that, I swear to you I did not do that on purpose." he stammered through his embarrassment. Lee snorted softly and pulled away from him, heading toward Naor. Jia was doing the same, but she held tan trousers and a grey tunic in each hand.

- - - - - - - - - -

Jia smiled at Asa. "Don't worry, it's happened to me several times, so I pack for the occasion. Here, take these, they might be a little big for her but with some trimmings and alterations we can make them work." she offered the garments. She turned around and glared at each of the males, humor and seriousness in her gaze. "All of you turn around and give her some privacy." she looked at Asa and arched an eyebrow at him. "That means you too. Go on, git." she waved him away from Naor, but she reasoned that he wouldn't want to be -too- far away from his partner-of-heart. Though she noticed with a smirk that Ka and Osu had done an about face the moment they saw the situation. She saw their ears were blushed red. She shook her head and turned to Naor and smiled, chuckling. "Men. Now, put these on so your Rider can stop having a heart attack. Me and Lee can hold the cloak up to block you from view." she said kindly.

Naor tsked with impatience, but graciously accepted the clothes that Jia was offering her. "Thank you. I don't know why he's making such a fuss, he knows I don't really look like this, so there's nothing to be embarrassed about others seeing," she said, knowing that Asa could hear her. He had moved off only a few feet and had his back turned, but she could see that, like the other human/Reaper males, his ears were red. She glanced over and saw Lyssand watching as she shimmied into the trousers Jia had offered her. She had watched Asa do this same task enough that she knew how it was done.

She cocked an eyebrow at him, but he smiled and spread his hands innocently.

"Beautiful you may be Naor, but you're not my type" he said in his golden tenor. A brief image of a tall chestnut mare with long legs and a pretty blaze flashed into all of their minds, then was gone.

She laughed and said, "Good to know, otherwise Lee and Jia might have broken some of your bones." She slipped the tunic on, then stepped around the cloak. "You can look now," she said to the group.

"I'm with Naor, just saying. I don't understand why you boys choked on your tongues when you saw her, you know she's a dragon," Darian said, stepping forward to retrieve her cloak. She spun it around her own shoulders and slipped her arms in the sleeves, concealing her arm guards and knife sheaths once more.

Rath's blush deepened a shade or two at Darian and Naor's teasing and ribbing, and he grimaced. "Must be a guy thing then." he muttered, more to himself than the others. Lee laughed at him, and he glared halfheartedly at his partner-of-heart and stuck his tongue out at her. She merely grinned and snuggled herself back under his arm, which he admittedly didn't mind one bit. He looked around at the group, inspecting each person that had been changed carefully, though he somewhat avoided looking at Naor for too long just in case Asa thought he was getting any ideas. "Alright then, looks like we have everything finished then. Oh wait, Darian, I need to make that Void Seal for you. One moment." he closed his eyes and concentrated for a few moments, then a Seal appeared hovering in midair. He pushed energy into it and connected it to Darian so it would stay close to her, then activated it. For all purposes, it looked like a gaping void had just opened up in midair. He nodded to Darian. "You can toss all your things in here and carry them close to you. To close it, speak the word 'Nix'. To open it, 'Slok'" he said.

Post Re: Dedarath
Darian nodded and tossed her spare gear and Lyssand's saddle, along with his saddle bags, into the void. "Nix," she said experimentally. The hole closed immediately. "Excellent, that's a nifty little trick," she said approvingly. "My saddlebags in there have medicines in them in case someone is injured and we can't use healing magic, will the rest of you be able to get in there if I'm killed or unconscious?" she asked frankly. Raised in a community of spies and warriors for hire as she had been, she knew that death was a possibility in her line of work, and she had been raised to embrace it and not be afraid of it, lest her fear interfere with her mission. Not to say she was without fear, she just knew how to work around it.

Naor rolled her eyes when she saw the other men in the group were still hesitant about looking at her after Asa's possessive spell, but chose to ignore it and not say anything. She cocked her head at Darian's dry question of what would happen to her things and the rest of the group if she was killed. Such acceptance that death was unavoidable and entirely likely for someone of her status and job title was rather unusual in two-legs. Naor liked it, she hadn't met many two-legged women and none of those that she had were weak, but Darian seemed to have a special kind of steel in her spine.

"Must be," Asa said, frowning at Rath. To be honest, when Naor put it like that, he had no idea why he was so possessive of other men seeing her like that. He supposed it was because he was used to protecting her, and it was like seeing another man leering at his little sister. The very thought was enough to almost make him see red again and he changed the track of his thoughts quickly.

"So now that we're all concealed, are we ready to move on?" he asked, sheathing his sword, which he had just noticed was still clutched in his fist.

Rathon grimaced and nodded to Darian's question. "Yes, it will open for any of us, even if you are unconscious or killed." he confirmed, though he didn't like that train of thought, so he changed it by raising his voice slightly so the entire group could hear him. "Yes, Asa, we are ready to continue on. Alright people everyone gather in close to me and Ka and Jia, we are going to Teleport the entire group to the border between Alagaesia and Dedarath. Just hold onto each other and keep calm. We'll do the rest." he said, then all three lowered their heads and linked minds. Teleporting two or three people was a chore, but ten was going to be a royal pain. Softly at first, Rath, Jia, and Ka began chanting in Reapric, in perfect sync from their linked minds. After a full minute of this, all three went silent. Everyone would notice, briefly, that they felt slightly heavier than they should. Then darkness. No light, no sound, no touch. Three seconds passed, and then everything exploded back into focus. Jia stagger and fell to one knee, panting hard. Rath breathed in deeply a few times, sweat beading on his forehead from effort. Ka was in similar condition to himself. He shook his head and looked around. At first glance, it looked like a normal grass glade, but closer inspection showed that a few yards in front of the group was a shear cliff drop-off. It was the Border, more accurately called a Barrier, between here and their homeland. Rath felt queasy, for many reasons. It had been a long time singe he'd been home, and leaving hadn't been on the best conditions.

Asa nodded and stepped forward, huddling in with the rest. He was rubbing elbows with Lyssand and Naor, with Darian just in front of him. For a moment he thought something was wrong with him, his body felt wrong, and then his vision blacked out. When he came to he staggered to the side a bit and knocked Lyssand over, then straightened and caught Darian as she fell back into him. "Careful," he said, setting her back on her feet before turning to help Lyssand up. His balance must still have been off though, because he almost landed on his head when he leand over. Naor's disproportianately strong arm saved him though, lifting him back to a standing position before helping Lyssand.

"Careful yourself," the concealed dragoness teased before turning to inspect their surroundings.

Post Re: Dedarath
OO:
lol Rathon graduated Boot Camp today, he's hanging with the family and txting me with his new smartphone. He'll start his schooling tomorrow or the next day I think. So hopefully he'll be coming back soon. XD

IC:
Rathon peered around, but this seemed to be the right place. He reached inside his satchel and pulled out a small ring, rolling it around in his fingers slowly. All Reapers of the Royal Families were given one of these rings once they graduated and could control all of their Seals and Forms. Rath slipped the silver band over the middle finger on his right hand. The design was simple, a flat surface with rings of reapric runes and a small round diamond in the center of them. The runes lit up with a soft gold light for a moment, then faded. He gestured to the others to come up behind him. "Here's what's gonna happen. This is a special barrier that only allows Reapers of royal blood in or out, and anyone with them as well. I have the means of getting in, but we need to be careful. I have no idea of what might be on the other side. Now, everyone hold wrists, and don't let go no matter what." he ordered. He was tense, he knew he was, but he was scared, he just wasn't going to show it to the others. He felt a gentle squeeze around his left wrist, and he smiled slightly, squeezing back. Of course Lee knew how he really felt, how had he ever forgotten that. He took a deep breath, looked back to make sure everyone was ready, then looked ahead and stepped out onto thin air. Except he didn't plunge instantly to his death. He just kept walking like it was solid ground. After a few feet of walking on air, something invisible abruptly swallowed him up. At the sight that greeted him...he felt very, very cold inside. What greeted him on the Dedarath side of the barrier...was nothing. It was a complete wasteland. It resembled The Burning Plains in Alagaesia. Fire and smoke and debris littered the landscape for as far as the eye could see, along with huge rocks and stones that looked like they had been shattered and broken into shrapnel and scattered every which way. Rathon's breathing hitched in his throat, and he felt a single tear escape from his eye. He irritably wiped it away, hiding the motion by brushing his hair out of his eyes. He glanced back to check on Ka, who appeared just as stunned as he was. The others were all through, so he dropped Lee's hand. He looked around at the devastation and wondered what in devil's name had happened to his homeland. He took a deep breath. "Alright...standing here isn't saving Jess or Mya. Let's get moving. Ka, you walk in the back, guard our flank, just in case. Jia, middle. I'll take point. Everyone stay close and, for now, use only your minds to communicate. No idea what is out there and might overhear spoken conversation." he said quietly. He was subdued now, now that he had seen the destruction that his uncle had caused in the Red Moon War. His fists clenched. He would put a stop to it, somehow. Rath turned and summoned his scythe, holding it like one would a hiking stick. He took another deep breath, then slowly trudged out.

Post Re: Dedarath
Darian obediently grasped hands with Lyssand who was in front of her and Asa behind her. Judging from the light footsteps coming from behind him, Naor was bringing up the rear. The spy didn't have time to really take in who was in front of Lyssand before they were on the move and it didn't matter. When they stepped out and started walking on the invisible path, she looked down, but if the sight of the rocks far below bothered her, she didn't show it. She looked up, curious for her first glimpse of Rath and Ka's homeland.

When they passed through the barrier, she blinked, thinking her vision had messed up. When she opened her eyes again, nothing had changed. The landscape before her was bleak and depressing. Instinct told her this was not how it should be, and she glanced at the Reaper brothers to see their reaction. She thought Rath had started to cry, but before she could get a good look at his face, he brushed his hair back and turned to give them further instructions, and she didn't feel it would help them in anyway to ask about it.

What kind of things should we be looking for to attack us? she asked silently. She was starting to wish Rath and Ka had taken more time to describe the wildlife of their home, so that she would have a better idea of what to expect. Thinking back to what they had told Lyssand passed for horses in Dedarath, she couldn't help but wonder what their wolves, bears, and wildcats looked like.

Asa felt Darian brush against his mind after Rath spoke, and tore is gaze away from the ravaged landscape to watch the Reaper to see what he would say. He felt some of what Darian was thinking, but couldn't make out specifics, only that she was calculating dangers from the unknown. He felt Naor shift behind him, moving closer to his back. He knew it wasn't for her comfort, she was looking to protect him from anything that might try to sneak up on him.

He released the two hands he was holding and looked behind him at her, arching an eyebrow at her. She didn't see it, her vivid blue eyes were roaming the destroyed earth around them, her mouth open slightly. For one alarming moment he saw flames flickering at the back of her throat.

Yeah, I'm wondering about that sort of thing myself, he said, facing Ka and Rath again. Unconsciously his hand slipped down to his side and gripped the hilt of his sword.

Rathon glanced back at Darian at her question. His expression was...unsettled. Honestly, Darian...we have no idea. We haven't been home for a long time. Who knows how things could have changed in our absence. he glanced around, and from the mental link they shared, they could feel a degree of the devastation that he felt at the destruction of his home. The oldest reaper shook his head and focused. Just be ready to fight if need be. If worst comes to worst, myself and Ka can make ourselves invisible, but that would be taxing our abilities to hide all of us. he admitted. He stepped out, glancing from side to side, keeping an eye out. Quietly, he spoke once more. His voice was subdued from before. You are probably wondering, however, why my siblings and I left.

Post Re: Dedarath
Darian frowned uneasily at Rath's words, but nodded. With a barely perceptible twitch of her wrist, a knife slid into her hand from one of the sheaths attached to her forearm and hidden from view by the sleeve of her cloak. Experimentally twirling her empty hand through the air, she tried to gather the water in the atmosphere to it. Much to her chagrin, the water was slow to respond. The feel of it was different as well, where the water of Alagaesia was light and pure to her touch (physically as well as mentally), the water of Dedarath felt strange and menacing, although it still bent to her will.

Probably shouldn't rely to heavily on your control of water while we're here, Lyssand said quietly, angling his body so that he could see her face as well as behind her.

She nodded in agreement and allowed the water swirling around her hand to fall to the ground. She noticed as it slipped past her skin, the stranger shimmering of ice or whatever it was, darkened for a moment after it's passing before brightening again. She was unnerved for a moment by it, for it showed exactly how wrong the elements of this place were, then lamented the loss of the camoflauge. Even in the sickly atmosphere that pervaded Dedarath, her skin still shone brilliantly. She moodily jerked the hood of her cloak up to keep the light from reaching her face. The last thing they needed was for her to be a beacon drawing every dangerous thing in the vicinity to them.

How ironic is it that the spy who, by the very definition of the word should be unremarkable and unnoticeable, is the one most likely to get attention drawn to us? she said softly

I would say it's quite ironic, Asa replied, his face straight. No sense in standing around looking spooked though. For all we know, the Reapers on this side might have devised a way of alerting them to anyone activating this barrier. They could be swooping down on us at this very moment, he said, moving to look Rath and Ka in the eyes. He was positive that they had thought of this already, he just needed to know what direction they intended to go.

Let them come if they dare, Naor said, a note of uncharacteristic bloodlust in her voice.

Asa looked back at her and frowned, there were definitely flames flickering around her teeth now. He was starting to wonder if she hadn't altered the seal in some way while Rath was casting it. She was a dragon, for all he knew, she could have.

Post Re: Dedarath
Rathon remained quiet, simply observing the conversations that flowed from mind to mind in the group link. He looked up once at Naor, noting the tone in her voice. He frowned severely at her, his eyebrows meeting. Naor, he said sharply, giving her mind a gentle shove to snap her out of it. there will be none of that while you are in this group. I know you are a dragon, but so are Lee, Zeke, and Jia, and I know how protective you are of Asa. I understand, Naor, I do. But having a clear head and being subtle and quiet is more important right now than flying out with talons flashing. Doing that in my homeland is a good way to get every single one of us wiped out. Calm down and think rationally, or I will send the both of you back through the barrier so you can't follow us. Is that understood? he said quietly, staring intently into her eyes without wavering. My homeland is dark and dangerous at the best of times, but now even doubly so. The Red Moon War that drove my family away was long and it was harsh. If you think Ka and I are strong, our Uncle is even stronger, and he has a few hundred, perhaps even a few thousand, Reapers that he has at his command, along with other creatures that would make your scales crawl with terror, dragon or not. You need to be alert but not thirsting for a fight here. Okay? he murmured softly, relaxing his stern expression to lessen the impact of his words. He wasn't trying to be mean, he was just scared out of his mind. His home was destroyed, he had no idea if anything he remembered was left standing or if those he called friends were still alive. He was scared for the group, he didn't want to lead them to their deaths, so he was going to do his best to make sure they survived, even if that meant getting a little tough on them. He dipped his head in respect to Naor and Asa, then turned and walked back to the lead. Lee raised an eyebrow at him. He shook his head. He paused and looked to his left, studying a stone that seemed to be roughly in the shape of a dog. He dismissed it and continued leading the way. Everyone stay close, I don't know why but I have a sneaky feeling that we are not alone. Ka, Jia, prepare seals, just in case. he said, raising his own hand and summoning a Void Seal of Fate.

Naor shook her head and tried to get her thoughts straight. She frowned at Asa and shrugged. She hadn't meant to sound like she was looking for a fight, but when she thought about it, she supposed she had. I understand Rath, but I did not mean to sound as I did. What I meant was that anything foolish enough to attack this group will have most certainly bitten off more than they can chew. We have nothing to fear if we stay alert, she said to the Reaper as he moved back to the lead.

Asa touched her on the shoulder reassuringly and moved to follow Rath. He looked around at the Reaper's words, his head nodding unconsciously in agreement. I would have to agree with you on that one Rath, he said. There was an uncomfortable itch at the back of his mind, the kind that usually preceded trouble in his world.

Well it's good to know we can all spot a dodgy situation, Darian said, mentally rolling her eyes while the guys talked about sensing trouble. Supernatural powers of divining danger she might not have, but her carefully honed natural senses were telling her something was up. She looked over at Lyssand and had to repress a snigger while she watched him trying to swivel his humanoid ears like he would in his normal body.

Oh hush, the horse grumbled, turning his head this way and that.

Post Re: Dedarath
Rathon tuned out the chatter in his head and scanned his surroundings, using the refined skills that being Galbatorix's assassin hit man had given him. He stopped walking and held up his hand, glancing to his left. His pupils narrowed like a cats. He looked over his shoulder at his brother, meeting Ka's gaze. The younger Reaper nodded and summoned his scythe and his gold bladed sword. He heard a faint sound, so faint that he barely caught it. He turned toward it and listened more carefully. He heard breathing. Heavy breathing. Like a big animal, built for hunting, and killing. Nasty, and lethal. Rath cursed heavily and spun around, his eyes wide, as a nearly silent predator leapt at him. It was no larger than your average domestic dog or wolf, had the strength of 5 full grown men and jaws strong enough to crush metal with relative ease, and teeth and claws that can cut bone like a hot knife cuts through butter. They are extremely difficult to control when there’s only one, nearly impossibly in a pack formation. They are the Royal Guards last resort when hunting for fugitives, and are only used in extreme cases when the runners have committed a high crime and their lives are no longer a concern. Why they were being used to guard the barrier, he had no idea. The beast snapped it's teeth mere inches from his throat, the only thing stopping it was his arm braced against its own throat. Arms appeared around its neck and wrenched it away, tossing it to the ground like a giant doll. Jia stood there, her chest heaving. She whirled on Rath, her expression wild. "Run. Ka and I will keep them off your flank." she said aloud. He nodded, his scythe out and his free hand glowing red with energy to cast Seals. He glanced at the group, his face hard. "Run. Follow me. Stay close. Don't worry about pulling ahead of me, just run all out." without waiting for any replies he turned and started running as fast as his legs could carry him. Using the link between all of their minds, he explained what was hunting them. These beasts are called malkori, used by the Guard that protects the Castle to hunt fugitives. Why they are suddenly being used for other things is beyond me. Fighting a malkori is like fighting a compacted dragon. A good way to die if you don't pay attention. One is dangerous enough, but a pack.... he hesitated, but continued. no one I know of has ever survived being hunted by a pack of malkori. And that is exactly what is hunting us now. Don't be heros, you'll die, just follow me, and keep running. he urged hastily.

- - - - - - - - - -

Ka swung his scythe and sword in a decapitating slice and opened a deep gash in the malkori's shoulder. The beast snarled and leapt back, its muzzle tearing back to show fangs as thick and long as his thumb, and as sharp as a Rider's blade. The Reaper's teeth pulled back in response in a savage grin. His muscles tensed for him to spring forward, but pain rippling up his back made him freeze, and a scream of pain and rage rang in his ears. He whirled, his vision seeing red instantly. Jia was crouched over, bright crimson blood spilling down her back in gleaming sheets from four half inch claw marks that ran from her right shoulder blade to her spine just above her tailbone. He saw the white glint of bone visible in the wounds. Ka snarled and lunged at the malkori that had hurt his partner of heart. The beast blurred at the edges from its speed as it dodged to his right and leapt at him. Ka spun faster than the eye could see and separated the beasts left foreleg from its body. Jia jumped in to his side, her face white with pain, and blocked the first beast he'd encountered from blind-siding him. The injured malkori in front of him limped back away from him. He bared his teeth in a vicious smile and slashed his weapons threateningly at the beast, his ruby eyes bright. Jia pressed against his back, and he could feel how bad she was shivering from blood loss. Ka, we need to run, I can't fight much longer with a wound like this, and you can't fight alone. she gasped in his mind. He growled savagely with frustration, but fell silent instantly as a flash of agony ripped down his back, brought to him by his link to her. He cursed and dismissed his weapons, then turned, grabbed Jia, and teleported almost all at once. As they disappeared, the Malkori pounced and crashed into each other. They appeared slightly ahead of Rathon and the group, and didn't waste time waiting for them to catch up. Just keep running. he spat at them, his temper made short from Jia's injury. As he ran and worked to at least stop the bleeding a little until he could tend to her more fully. Her eyes were barely open and they seemed glazed. He growled into her mind and held tight to her consciousness. Don't you even think about leaving me, Johdzsia. Not this early, before the real fun begins. he joked drly. She smiled at him faintly. I wouldn't dream of it. she whispered, and she returned the relentless hold to his mind that he had on hers.

They needed a little something to get them moving. XD

OOC: A little something?

Darian heard it at almost the same time the Reapers did. Not long after Ka drew his weapons the noise of whatever was approaching them reached a level that everyone in the group noticed it. The spy glanced at Asa and Naor. The dragoness was gripping her Rider's shoulder tightly, her talon-like fingernails pressing into his skin. She looked for Lyssand and found him nervously shifting from foot to foot beside her. He was instinctively looking off to their right. Before she could turn to see what he couldn't but knew was there, it attacked. She didn't see much beyond gnashing teeth and corded muscle before the Reaper brothers were yelling at them to run. She didn't think twice about it, she grabbed Lyssand's hand and pulled him into a run with her.

And how many usually run in a pack? she asked tightly.

Lyssand was running faster than her, after the first few stumbling steps he was outpacing the entire group, he slowed down until Darian caught up to him, then pulled her into his arms and started carrying her, much to her dissatisfaction. Put me down! she demanded.

I will not! In case you haven't noticed, you're not the fastest of the group, and I'd rather not have to find a new owner when I return to Vereshae. Besides, you need to catch up to Ka, Jia is hurt, the piebald said back, nodding towards the Rider, who was carrying Jia as he was Darian.

The spy looked forward, her eyes going round when she saw the blood pouring off of Ka's hand while he carred Jia. Once Lyssand had come alongsde the youngest Reaper brother Darian wriggled out of his grasp, hitting the ground running. She uncorked a waterskin at her side, then placed her hand on Jia's wound. Sorry, she said, knowing it must have hurt. Water trickled up out of the waterskin, trailing along her arm until it pooled around her hand and in the wound. Nudging it slightly with her mind, the water spread out until it covered all of the scratches. Another light touch of her power and the water cooled, hopefully soothing the fire the dragoness would feel from her wounds.

Darian increased the rate of her footsteps so that she could keep up with Ka and keep her hand on Jia's back. She wouldn't be able to freeze the water in place as she normally would for fear of the ice damaging the exposed nerves in her back.

Asa and Naor brought up the rear, her nails still digging rather uncomfortably into his forearm as she all but dragged him along. Don't worry, no hero efforts from me, he said to the Reaper, watching Jia worriedly. She was a more than capable fighter, yet in an instant she had been seriously wounded by one of those creatures. He vowed he would let them get nowhere near Naor.

Ka glanced over his shoulder and kept running. A pack can be as few as three and as many as twenty. he replied shortly. Jia whimpered softly and he glanced down to see a hand touching her back. He almost jerked Jia away, but he noticed it was Darian, and as he watched the water she summoned soothed over the wounds and cooled them. Jia shuddered with relief and sighed, closing her eyes. He darted a look at the woman, gratitude in his eyes. His blood chilled into ice as a howl sliced through the air, joined by a chorus of other howls that made it seem like demons themselves had been set loose to terrorize the earth. That is the call of the malkori. Chilling. Usually, when one hears that call, they are not in the open for very long. But, considering where we are, that will be unlikely to change. he said shortly. Jia wrapped her arm around his neck and pulled herself up, shifting so that Darian had better access to her back. He could feel that it hurt to stretch like that, so he took as much of her pain as he could into himself. It earned him a glare, at which he grinned unrepentantly. She smiled faintly, then nuzzled his neck in silent appreciation. Ka looked up and saw a rock overhanging, deep, it looked like. Everyone, aim for that overhanging, we can hide inside and cast a concealing Seal.

Darian saw the look Ka shot in her direction, but she remained focused on running and keeping her hand on Jia's back. The ground was uneven, and if she stumbled and lost her concentration, the water would fall away from the wound. She knew that as soon as it touched the destroyed earth beneath their feet, it would be useless. Already she could feel the water from the atmosphere trying to mix with that from her hipflask, and she had to keep pushing it back to keep it from contaminating the clean water.

Can't you set up a seal to distract them so we can make it? They seem to be gaining on us, she said quickly. She adjusted her hand on Jia's back as the dragoness shifted so that her arm wasn't at quite so awkward an angle.

Ka, Rath, as Royals, wouldn't you know how a Malkori hunts their prey? If you do, it would be all too easy to distract or fool them. Well, maybe not easy, but there would be a chance, Naor asked, loosening her grip on Asa's arm as he twisted it and sent her an impression of her fingernails digging into his soft flesh.

Post Re: Dedarath
Ka grimaced. Not that easy, but we can try. And by we, I mean Rathon. he said, glancing at his brother. The oldest sibling smiled shortly, then disappeared with a teleport. Follow Ka, I'll stall these brutes for at least a few minutes. said Rath. There was only a few more yards now between the group and the overhanging that led into the cave. There were flashes of red, blue, and black from behind them, accompanied by shouts of Seal names and the yelps and snarls of the beasts. Ka reached the overhanging first and stopped to let the others go in first. He glanced at the fight his brother was having and winced, then ducked inside himself. He turned and gathered Jia in one arm, lifting his now free left hand palm out. He mouthed a low incantation and Seal. A thick black gate appeared in front of the entrance to the cave, blocking the way, as well as a faint shimmering a few feet in front of the gate that was the only evidence of an illusion. A few moments later, Rathon appeared inside the cave. The malkori gave howls of rage and cast around for any scents. Ka knelt to the ground and very gently laid Jia down on her side, afraid to dirty the wound on her back. His head shot up as a malkori appeared in front of the cave, sniffing the ground. The beast had fur as black as ebony that covered bulging and corded muscle all over it's body, dark crimson eyes that writhed with bloodlust. It's claws looked like smaller, more hooked versions of a dragons talons, like a hawk's, and were dark red, as if stained over time by the blood of it's victims. The monster cast around a bit, seeming unable to find a scent. Ka shivered a bit then ignored it, bending over Jia. She reached for him, and he took her hand in his own, reaching across their link at the same time and taking some of her pain as his. She glared at him, but the relief on her face was unmistakable. He laced his fingers through hers and held on tight. "Just hang on a little longer Jia..." he whispered softly.

Post Re: Dedarath
Darian plunged into the shallow cave with Ka and Jia, her hand still in contact with the wounded dragoness. She followed Ka's movements as he set Jia's Reaper form on the ground, kneeling beside her. She withdrew her hand from Jia's back, the water coming with her hand. She directed it back into her flask with a nudge of her thoughts. "Slok," she commanded, and the hidden hole appeared beside her. She reached inside with one arm and rummaged through her saddlebags, finding what she needed quickly. She withdrew her arm, several bandages and small clay jars clutched in her hand. Peering at the labels on the bottles for a second, she reached back inside and withdrew another bottle and a length of leather.

"Bite down on this," she said, holding the leather in front of Jia's mouth. Without waiting for her to take it, she took the lid off of one jar and swirled a corner of one of the bandages through it. Bunching the material so she had a better grip on it, she started swabbing the wound, cleaning out any dust or grit that had settled into it. "Sorry if it burns, it's an antiseptic. I have one that would hurt less, but it's got a stronger smell, which is something I don't think we need right now," she said tightly, but calmly. The last thing Jia needed to hear in her voice was the pain and disgust that had rolled through her at the sight of the dragoness's wounds.

The spy prodded the sliced flesh again, pressing the edges of the wound. "She'll have to have healing later, when one of you can spare the energy and the Malkori aren't around. It would be our luck they would sense a healing this close," she said, looking first at Ka before shooting a glare at the behemoths outside. She shuddered slightly at how imposing they looked, then turned back to Jia.

The antiseptic hadn't reacted, so she closed the first jar and un-stoppered a second. She swabbed a different corner of the same bandage through the second medicine. "This is a numbing paste. You can't have a straight pain killer with all the blood you lost. This will make it so you can't feel the wounds or any pain they should be causing until we get you healed or the effects wear off, whichever happens first," she continued, then started slathering liberal amounts of the pale grey concoction on Jia's back.

When the wounds were covered completely, she laid a folded wad of bandage over each of the cuts, then held up a hefty roll of cotton wrap. "Hold her up Ka, this needs to go around those bandages to hold them in place," she said to the Rider.

"Here, I'll help," Asa said, kneeling on Jia's other side. He looked at Ka for permission to help lift her.

How many did you see? Naor asked Rath as he appeared inside the cave. She was standing stock still in the middle of the entrance to the cave, her arms loose at her sides as she watched the hunters roar and screech with fury just beyond the edge of Ka's illusion. She could hear Darian murmuring behind her, but in the din from the Malkori, it was hard to hear what the blonde spy was saying.

Post Re: Dedarath
Ka took Jia's hand at the same time Darian offered her the leather to bite on. It was safer, that way any noise she made would also be muffled, just in case. His own back sizzled with shared pain as Darian cleaned the wounds, and he took more of it from his companion, hating seeing her in such discomfort. She laced her fingers through his and smiled, coiling her thoughts through his. I'm fine dear prince.. she whispered to him privately, wincing slightly. Ka bit his lip, glancing at Darian as she advised to heal Jia as soon it was possible. He nodded silently in agreement, and wished he could heal her now. He felt Jia's relief as Darian slathered the numbing paste into the wounds. Her teal-green eyes closed and her body relaxed, a sigh escaping her lips. Ka narrowed his eyes at Asa, leaning protectively over Jia for a moment, then caught himself and continued his forward motion to make it look as though he was helping her up. He nodded at Asa gratefully, curling his arm around Jia's shoulder closest to him while Asa took the other and lifting her up, supporting her fully so she didn't have to use her own strength, and therefore the injured muscles in her back. She sighed again and leaned her head into his shoulder, her breathing even but slightly shallow still, doubtless from the effort of moving. Ka looked up to Naor for her question, then eyed his brother. Rathon was very subdued now. Six or seven. Maybe more. I wasn't looking, just slinging Seals left and right to distract them. he glanced at the female dragoness, his ice blue eyes unfathomable. Malkori are the ultimate hunters in Dedarath. The flightless version of a dragon, though I admit not as big or awe-inspiring. he smiled dryly, but it didn't reach his eyes. I would not advise trying to fight them. Not yet. Let's see if they leave on their own first. he murmured. Ka nodded in agreement and glanced outside, shivering. Subconsciously he leaned over Jia in a protective manner. He hated to admit that she had gotten lucky. A little deeper, and the malkori's claws could have cut through her spine like it was butter, possibly paralyzing her, but she'd gotten away with just painful scratches. He shivered.

Post Re: Dedarath
I wouldn't dream of taking them on right now, not when one of our number is so badly hurt, Naor said, turning to eye Jia anxiously. She had met very few dragons since she had left her family and it worried her to see one of her kind in such pain. The sky blue dragoness watched her Rider gently lift her up with Ka's help. A small smile parted her pale blue lips and she prummed softly, though it felt strange against her human ribs.

Asa looked up at the soft noise and smiled at her, then placed a finger to his lips, signaling for her to be quiet. I love you to, holder of my heart, but try to keep it on the inside for now, we don't want the Malkori to hear, he said fondly. Naor snorted inside his mind, but the prumming stopped. They both very much doubted the beasts could have heard her over the noise they were making themselves, she had barely been able to hear herself over their racket.

But still, better safe than sorry, Lyssand said, reminding them that their minds were still linked with the others. He walked right up to the edge of Ka's illusion, his hands in his pockets. He surveyed the monsters beyond with distaste, resisting the urge to bare his teeth and kick out with his feet as he would have done if he were in his true form.

I couldn't agree more, Darian muttered silently to the group, gently wrapping the roll of cotton around Jia's torso. She checked it constantly to make sure it wasn't too tight, applying the pressure evenly across the bandages. When the roll was almost wrapped entirely around the dragoness, she tucked the end under one of the layers and pinned it in place. There, all done. Those bandages will hold, provided you don't do any fighting, which you shouldn't do anyway, given how deep those scratches are. The last thing you need is for them to start bleeding again, she said to Jia.

The spy stood up and wiped her hands on her cloak. Rath, what do you plan on doing if the Malkori don't leave? she asked.

Post Re: Dedarath
Rath glanced back at Ka and Jia, worry in his eyes for his brother and his companion. He knew how much they relied on each other after everything they both had been put through, it would destroy his brother to lose his partner of heart. His gaze swept towards his own companion, Lee, and his heart tightened in his chest. She sensed his concern and looked into his eyes, keeping contact for a few moments, and then she smiled softly in a way that made him smile a tiny bit back. He took a breath and turned to Darian, his expression thoughtful as he thought over her question carefully. If they don't leave in an hour, Ka and I can teleport us all a few miles closer to the mountains. That is a last resort though, if they don't leave, because after an effort like that the both of us will be unconscious for at least a few hours. Teleporting takes a lot of energy, and the more people that need to be moved, and the greater the distance, the more energy and effort is required. he explained briefly, crossing his arms over his chest. He nodded at Jia. Without her help, it will put a greater strain on the two of us to move so many. And, he lifted one hand slightly. before any of you offer to take Jia's place in helping, it takes years to learn how to teleport, for a Reaper. Jia can because of how long she's been bonded to Ka and she's learned more quickly from his memories and experiences. Lee has only been bonded to me for... he paused and frowned, glancing at her. She winked at him. Roughly a week. she supplied. He nodded and turned back to the group. So...it would be difficult for you to help. he finished lamely.

- - - - - - - - - -

Once Darian finished wrapping the bandage around Jia he pulled her shoulder against him, leaning her weight into him so she could relax. He nodded at Asa for his help, twisting a lock of Jia's gold hair between his fingers anxiously. She laid a hand on his chest, over his heart, and prummed, even softer than Naor had. I'll be fine. she whispered softly, before her eyes closed and she slipped into sleep. He smiled slightly and rubbed her arm lightly. I know. he replied, even though he knew she couldn't hear him. He looked up at his brother and raised one eyebrow. Why not just let one of the dragons carry us? Lee is the oldest, so the biggest and strongest. It should be easy for her. he offered. He wanted to get as far away from the malkori as possible. Rath shook his head. Equivalent to dragons in all but looks and shape. I wouldn't doubt if they could run as fast as a dragon can fly.

Darian eyed the creatures outside the cave. I agree with Rath, they look like they could easily keep up. Teleporting may be our only option, but since someone has to ask: Will our enemies be able to track us through the energy that will be displaced? I assume that was the sort of thing they did at the gate, she said, looking from brother to brother. Lyssand turned around, his hands still deep in his pockets.

I don't think they will Darian, they can't sense this illusion after all. Or is that because it's not as flashy? he asked.

If it will help, Asa and I can provide a distraction. I could take off flying one direction while you all teleport in the opposite direction. After awhile I could arch up so high they can't see me, and return to you, Naor said. She was loathe to involve Asa in her plan, if the other's agreed, but she knew he wouldn't let her do it any other way. Especially after seeing another Rider's dragon injured so badly by the creatures stalking them outside.

Post Re: Dedarath
Rath smiled a bit. Both. Not as flashy, and, it is an illusion after all. he said, winking ever so slightly at Darian. He looked over to Naor, and was already shaking his head before she finished speaking. Splitting up would be too dangerous. Became dangerous the moment we all went through the Barrier. Reapers have....ways...of extracting knowledge. Terrible ways. Horrific ways. he shuddered. Ways that, I am ashamed to say, I know too. Both of us. he glanced at Ka, then he shook his head vehemently. No, the risk of you being caught and taken to our uncle is too great. I do not doubt your abilities, never, what I doubt is my knowledge of my own homeland. I remember what was, not what is. This plain, didn't used to be a wasteland. It was beautiful once. Filled with grass that was a unique blue-green, trees that seemed to sing with merriment whenever the wind blew through their branches, lakes and rivers so crystal clear it was like looking through glass to the bottom. he looked away to the entrance of the cave, the weight of loss in his gaze. I do not know my home anymore. Much less than I thought I would. I did not think it would be this changed. Until I can get an updated map from Glan'nari, the mountain city, we have to stay together. Strength is always better in numbers. Glan'nari is deep in the mountains, few Reapers stray there, unless it is for special training, like our sister Jessa was for her whole life. Our uncle would not bother with such an out of the way, desolate place. If we can make it there, we will be safe for as long as we need to be. It's not that far, maybe a day's hard trek. Our current problem, though, is getting passed these monstrosities. he grimaced, and looked at the malkori.

- - - - - - - - - -

Ka held Jia close, keeping a watchful eye on the malkori outside the cave. He felt an anger toward them, for hurting his partner-of-heart, and it was difficult to contain. It was not the fact that if he acted, the malkori would find them. It was that Jia was hurt, sleeping in his arms, and she needed him by her side. She shifted and moved closer to him, and he stroked her hair to soothe her while she slept. She sighed and relaxed, her mind sleepily coiling with his. He let her, knowing that, even in her sleep, she needed to know that he was alright as well. He looked up at his brother then, having been listening with one ear to the conversation. Cast an illusion spell on us. I can help with that. I would mask out scent, our bodies, our minds partially, and any sound we made would be rerouted into something from our surroundings. Footprints won't be a problem, malkori don't track my sight, they track by sound and smell, like most hunting hounds.

Post Re: Dedarath
"Well, what's one more illusion between friends?" Darian asked softly, smiling slightly. "Honestly I can't come up with any feasible plans to get us out of this mess, I don't know enough about Dedarath. Whatever the two of you come up with, I'll just have to live with," she said, looking at Ka and Rath. From the look on Ka's face when he glanced down at Jia, she knew he wouldn't move from this cave until his partner was either healthy again, or he was convinced a safe enough plan had been decided upon.

Naor snorted at Rath's words, but she knew his heart was in the right place with not wanting her to be captured, so she said nothing. Asa cocked an eyebrow at her and she shrugged. As a dragon, it was her second nature to sacrifice herself for those she cared about. Not that she thought for one moment the Reapers of Dedarath stood a chance against her, in a fair fight. I agree with Darian, if you think another illusion will be what it takes to get us passed the Malkori, then we should do it, she said.

I'm in, Asa said, then turned to Ka, but should we wait for Jia to wake up, or move on while she's asleep and not insisting she's ok enough to walk?

Rath glanced at Ka and Jia and grimaced. I believe my brother would skin me alive if I forced Jia to move right now before she had the chance to recuperate at least a little. For now, we can rest. We have at least two hours to rest here. Maybe by then the malkori will have given up and left. During that time if any of you want to ask us questions about Dedarath...feel free. The information may be outdated, but it could prove useful, if you're interested. he was reluctant to tell non-Reapers anything about his home, in case they planned on using it against them. Although, when he thought about it, nothing could honestly be worse than his Uncle being on the thrown. Even Galbatorix's reign in Alagaesia wasn't this morbid. He sighed and sat crossed legged against the wall, Lee laying on her side next to him with her head resting on his legs, humming softly. Without even realizing it he began to stroke her hair, like he might stroke her nose in her dragon form. Across the way, Ka shifted Jia into a more comfortable laying down position.

Asa unsheathed his sword and sat on the ground, laying the blade on the ground beside him. Naor stayed where she was, staring out at the Malkori. Lyssand shifted beside her and she glanced at him, she couldn't be sure, but she thought she detected a hint of agitation in his face. She imagined her own features were reflecting the same feelings.

"I think the question most burning in my mind, is why would your uncle hunt you so badly and ruin your home, his home, like this?" Asa asked from where he sat.

"Took the words right out of my mouth," Darian murmured, sitting neatly on a small boulder protruding from the rocky floor. Ever since they had arrived, that same question had been nagging at her. She couldn't understand why someone would do such harm to their homeland.

Post Re: Dedarath
Rathon laughed bitterly and looked out into what little desolation he could see outside the cave mouth. He closed his eyes and leaned his head against the wall. "What else. Power. And Jealousy. Uncle Gres is..was our fathers, King Kane Hinote Karite, brother. We never were actually told if he was older or not, but we suspect it was so. He was in line for the throne. Both he and our father were matched in power. But something so simple tore that apart. Father was born under what we call the White Altar. It's...a specific time of the year that is represented by a collection of stars called the White Altar. It generally means those born under that sign are destined for great and good. Few outside the royal family are ever born under this sign. Gres, however, was born under the Black Altar. The exact opposite. He was born for something great alright...great destruction. Mayhem, chaos, other nasty things you could think of. So the Council of Elders usurped Gres and gave the crown to father. He ruled for a few years, and in those years he wedded our mother, Reana. The woman that Gres had been courting even before father took the throne. I was born....then Ka...and finally our baby sister Jessa. She showed unique talents and father sent her away at an early age, thank the gods. About seven or eight years ago now in Alagaesian time, Gres betrayed our father and turned on him, using the followers he had silently been gathered to run us out of Dedarath. Father thought we could survive in Alagaesia, but Galbatorix heard news of us and sent out Shruikan. Only Ka and I survived, although I was taken and trained to be a spy/assassin for Galbatorix. Jess didn't leave until two years ago when she got wind of someone wanting to kill her in the place she was training." his tone remained impassive. The only way you could tell he was aggravated was by looking at his hands, which he had balled into fists so tightly that his knuckles were straining and turned white. Lee was touching one of them to try and calm him. He took a deep breath and opened his eyes, staring at the opposite wall. "Greed, Lust, and Jealousy. They are the bane of mans existence. It destroyed my family, my home, and possibly my entire race.[/i] he murmured quietly. His hands relaxed and he went back to stroking Lee's hair. "The reason Gres wants us back home is unknown to me, after all this time. Perhaps it was because of the Red Moon War taking up all his time. I don't know. But I do know I will do anything to get my baby sister back." he said firmly. Ka nodded mutely from across the way, quiet rage seething within his ruby red eyes. Osu was staring at the ground in front of his crossed legs, a strange expression on his face. Rath reclosed his eyes.

Post Re: Dedarath
"Yes, I think we have all had those evils touch our lives, in some way," Darian said, a bitter taste in her mouth. In her home, Vereshae, people advanced in society based on their abilities. They had a headman, not a king. She couldn't understand the appeal of a throne. To her, it seemed a false power, because there was always the threat of someone trying to take it from you. And to kill your own brother to attain it... "Gres needs to be taken down, but that's not our mission. We need to find Jessa and your friend," she said slowly, gauging the mood of the two brothers.

Now that they were home and saw the destruction, she imagined it wouldn't take too much more to induce them into a fervor to destroy their uncle. "Where would they likely take your sister? There might still be Reapers in Dedarath loyal to your father, and you. Gres would want to make sure they couldn't get to her. Who is his lieutenant?" she asked.

OOC: Lol, I feel like this is a cruddy post, but I couldn't think of anything. XD

Post Re: Dedarath
Rath nodded mutely, continuing to stare at the wall. His gaze flicked to Darian at her question, and he pursed his lips. "Karite Castle, in the dungeons, most likely. There's no other place in Dedarath that could hold a Reaper as powerful as the three of us." he said impassively. Ka snorted. "Liar, there's one other place. Glan'nari, the very city we're heading toward." Rath narrowed his eyes at his brother. "Glan'nari is too far out of the way for Gres to bother with, it would over stretch his soldiers too much. Glan'nari has always been an independent city and, unless Gres infiltrated it somehow and destroyed it from the inside, it has most likely remained untouched." he retorted. Ka muttered to himself but remained silent. Rath sighed and rubbed his face with one hand. "We don't know if he has a second commander. He doesn't seem like the kind of man to trust anyone with that kind of job." he said tiredly.

Post Re: Dedarath
Darian pursed her lips in thought, then looked up. "Well I suppose I don't have to tell the two of you that just because he doesn't seem like the type, that doesn't mean he won't have a second-in-command, or maybe even a third. It takes a lot of coordinating and coercion to take down and forcibly rule an empire, especially one full of powerful magicians. We'll need to be prepared for them, if we do happen to run up on them. What can you remember about the castle?" she said, directing the question at Rath. As the oldest brother, he stood a better chance of remembering more about it.

Lyssand shifted in front of the cave entrance. One of the Malkori was sniffing around about ten feet away, and something about the beast's eyes made him wary. How much longer do you think this illusion will fool them? he said silently, using his mind to point out the Malkori that had him worried.

Asa leaned his head back against the wall and listened to Darian grill the Reaper brothers. He was beginning to appreciate the tactical side of the spy. She was every bit the tactician he was, perhaps even better. He had considered the fact there might be a second under Gres, but from what the Reaper brothers had said, he had never considered the possibility of a third. She's very thorough he said musingly to Naor.

Yes she is. She would make a fine wife for you, Naor said back, turning to look at him in confusion when he coughed, choking on spittle, and started upright. She arched her eyebrows at him like he was crazed, then turned to inspect the Malkori Lyssand had pointed out. She agreed with the horse, there seemed to be a bit more intelligence in it's eye than it's hunt-mates. Rath, Ka... You said they hunt in packs. Packs tend to have leaders... Any way to tell which is the leader of this group? she asked, leaning forward to get a good look at the creature.

Rath blew his cheeks out and leaned his head back. He hadn't thought of his home for so long. Tried to block it out even. He shook his head slightly. I would need a few minutes to remember. he said, grimacing. He looked up at Lyssand. At least another hour. he said, turning to look at the malkori in question. He went completely still when he saw the...intelligence in the beasts eyes. Lee felt his alarm and sat up, quickly getting her her feet. He stood and walked over to them, firmly taking Naor's shoulder and pulling her back. It's not him, this one is a scout, sent by the leader to find us and raise the alarm. The illusion is strong, the gate here even stronger. The malkori shouldn't be able to hear or smell anything. he said, watching the beast warily.

Naor allowed herself to be pulled away from the entrance, her eyes never leaving the Malkori. Rath... If that one isn't the leader, she began hesitantly, wary of the obvious intelligence of the beast, then which one is? she asked, not sure she would like the answer.

Take your time to remember Rath, it's not like we're going anywhere, Asa sighed, pulling a piece of wood and a small knife from his pocket. He started to carve the piece, stopping to blow tiny shavings from its surface every now and then.

Rath peered around carefully in search for an answer. When he found it, he gently nudged Naor and then pointed. That one. He's the leader. he murmured. The biggest malkori in the entire pack. He was easily the size of a large pony. The hooked claws on his left forepaw gleamed with fresh blood. That's the one that hurt Jia. Ka made a low hissing sound, making Rath turn sharply. Oi, keep it down. No use in not at least being careful in case the Seal malfunctions. And would you be grateful at least that we don't have Jilakt on our tail too? Or Corakenia? he retorted. Ka glowered at him. At least I didn't lead us directly into a malkori ambush. he snapped back. Rath's eyes gleamed dangerously and he took a step toward his younger brother, fists clenched. Lee grasped his arm and squeezed gently, worry in her eyes. He whirled and met her gaze, his expression hot. She simply stared at him. Slowly, he calmed. Rath sighed and closed his eyes. Sorry.. he apologized to the group, not looking in Ka's direction. He heard a soft crooning though, and curiosity got the better of him. He looked, and Jia was awake, gently stroking Ka's cheek. The movement was weak, but at least she was aware.

Post Re: Dedarath
Naor had been right, she didn't like Rath's answer. She eyed the Malkori up and down, growling at the sight of the blood, her upper lip twitching furiously. Not only was the beast the biggest of the lot, but he was the ugliest, and no doubt the meanest. While she was watching he viciously bit the flank of one of the smaller Malkori, making the creature scream in pain. When it tried to jerk away, the leader didn't unclench it's jaws and the smaller one ended up pulling out a chunk of it's own flesh. She looked away in disgust, her stomach roiling.

She couldn't imagine doing that to another dragon, not in cold blood. She heard Jia crooning and looked over at her, relief that the lavender-gold dragoness was awake spreading through her chest.

Asa looked over at the lead Malkori, then swiftly looked away, his hand clenching around the hilt of his drawn sword. Where it was standing he could only see it's forepaws, specifically the one with dragon blood smeared across the talons. He looked over at Ka when the Rider snarled, understanding full well how he felt; though Asa disagreed when the Reaper blamed his brother.

Darian looked around warily, her fingers tracing the shapes of the knife sheaths hidden on her forearms. With a few quick flicks of her wrists she could have the brothers pinned to the rock walls by their shirt sleeves if she needed to, although she didn't imagine it would hold them long. Thankfully Lee stepped in and calmed Rath, otherwise she didn't know what they would have done. The last thing we need is for the two of them to be at each other's throats, not if they're going to be leading us in the demonic land, she remarked privately to Lyssand, her tone grim.

Lyssand arched his eyebrows in agreement, pursing his lips into a "What-can-I-do-about-it" frown before clearing his face of any expression. Their dragons will have to make sure they both keep clear head. They've done a good job of it so far, he said, indicating Jia and Lee with a barely imperceptible nod of his head.

"Ka, Jia, are the two of you feeling up to moving yet?" Darian asked the Pair softly. She walked over to them and knelt by Jia, looking at Ka for permission before she bent over her and checked the dilation of the dragoness's pupils.

Post Re: Dedarath
Jia looked up at Darian and nodded, ignoring Ka's glare. "Yes, I'm fine. I've had far worse than a few scratches." she said. The dragoness pushed on Ka's shoulder and used it to help her stand. She was dizzy for a moment, then steadied. "And Ka will be fine if he would stop taking my pain from me." she grumbled, glaring down at him fondly. He stood beside her and wrapped his arm around her shoulders, and she leaned into him, grateful despite her defiance for his aide. Rath sighed and walked over to her, hovering one hand over the injured part of her back. The older Reaper murmured under his breath, forming a simple one ring Seal of Healing. It was small, with minimum energy needed to fuel it, so the malkori wouldn't sense it. Rath pulled away after a few moments and smiled down at her. "There, the first few layers of flesh are healed slightly, so they won't bleed or tear open scabs. They'll still pain you a bit, but not as much now." he said. Ka smiled at his brother sheepishly, a silent apology in his eyes. Rath smiled back, then turned. He crossed his arms and sighed as he studied the malkori leader. Jia pursed her lips. "Couldn't we use the Changing Seal to look like them and somehow blend into the pack?" Rath shook his head before she finished. "No. Malkori are magically created beings, not born or brought into the world by reproduction. Attempts to breed them have been met with failure, so if more are needed they just create more. The Changing Seal can't mimic something that, for all intensive purposes, shouldn't exist."

Post Re: Dedarath
Darian turned to Ka, a severe look on her face. "She's right, you really shouldn't be doing that. I know enough about Rider bonds to know the risks of that, not to mention you need to save your strength in case we need you in a fight," she chastised him. She could understand why he was doing it, but it was still a little foolish of him, nevertheless she said it with a gentle tone.

The blonde spy stood with the pair and moved out of Rath's way when he walked over to them, letting him use a healing spell on the injured dragoness. When he was finished, she stepped forward and gingerly checked her bandages, making sure they were still wrapped tightly. She pursed her lips and looked up from the dressings just in time to catch the look the brother's exchanged. Looks like we were worried for nothing, she said to Lyssand privately, before reaching out to Jia's mind. Rath may have healed your wounds somewhat and your bandages are holding up fairly well, but I still think you should take it as easy as possible. I know you'll object, but I think you should let us take turns carrying you until you're stronger. We'll cover more ground that way, and you'll be able to rest, she said to the lavender-gold, looking her in the eye.

"Created by magic? I honestly don't want to be inside the head that dreamed that up," Asa said, arching his eyebrows. He stood with the others and twirled his sword uncertainly. "So we're decided then? Slip passed them with another illusion?" he asked, looking around, sheathing the bright blue steel.

Post Re: Dedarath
Jia gazed calmly into Darian eyes, hearing the sense in the words she said somewhat, but also knowing she had survived much worse. I understand your concern, and see the sense in what you're saying, but carrying me, a tall, cumbersome person, might slow us down even more. I can walk, I can run, and if I need to be carried for a while to rest I'll say something. I've trained for stuff like this, I have strength and stamina when I need it. Don't worry about me. I am a dragon, after all. she said softly, but smiled to take the sting from her words if there was any. She looked up at Ka and raised one eyebrow. He grimaced, and slowly she felt the discomfort rise. She took a deep breath and carefully suppressed it so it wasn't a distraction, but not enough that it wouldn't be able to warn her that she was pushing herself too much. She grinned and nodded to Asa. "Yes, that's the plan. Ka, Rath, can you handle it without me?" she asked? Rath almost looked offended, but the soft twinkle in his eyes said he was only teasing her. She stuck her tongue out at him, and he grinned.
Ka smiled. "Yes, we can. Everyone just stand still for a few moments." he said.

- - - - - - - - - -

Ka stepped forward and grasped Rath's forearms. They each bowed their heads and started murmuring Incantations in Reapric. While it was possible to cast Seals without them, Incantations made them much stronger and more resilient. It took a few minutes for them to cover everyone, but soon each person in the group had an illusion cast over them. They integrated each Seal to each person and connected all of them, like a web, so that they could all see each other, but no one outside the web could. Ka's shoulders slumped slightly from fatigue, and Jia was there instantly by his side under his arm, supported him. He squeezed her shoulders gently without looking down at her. "Alright, everyone draw your weapon of choice now, just in case. No sense in going into this like an idiot with a sheathed, useless weapon." as he spoke Rath drew his scythe, Osu his zanpakuto, Jia her gold bladed sword, Ka his own scythe, Lee a pair of curved daggers. Zeke raised his hands and shrugged; he didn't have a weapon. Rath quickly summoned a broadsword and handed it to the amethyst male. He tested it's weight and wielded it with ease, as if it weighed nothing in his hands.
He smiled, pleased. "A single talon, large, sharp, deadly and, in my hands, fast." he said, his eyes twinkling with his comparison. Ka waited for the others to get their weapons then said. "When the illusion on the cave is dropped, run like a bat out of hell. Don't look behind you, the runner that looks back always loses the race." He nodded to Rath, who waved his hand toward the entrance. The air shimmered, then the gate and the illusion vanished. Now. he said calmly, and bolted, Jia right on his heels. The malkori raised their heads and sniffed the air, then howled their hunting cry and started sprinting, but in the opposite direction.

OOC:
We should probably end this soon, within a few posts. Rathon is impatient to start the next segment of the story. XD

Post Re: Dedarath
OOC: Well let's not keep him waiting any longer than I already have. :)

Darian sized up the disguised, amethyst-and-gold dragoness for a moment. She could tell she was still feeling a little weak, but she could also see her draconic determination to not be a burden to her friends. Darian sighed and raised her hands in resignation. "My mother raised no fools, and I would have to be one to argue with a dragon," she said with a smile. When the Reaper brothers started casting their seals, her skin prickled a little bit from wariness, as it always did when magic was used around her. It was an unconscious reaction though, and she didn't notice it.

She cocked an eyebrow at Ka when he suggested they get their weapons ready. If he hadn't noticed when she loaned Naor her cloak earlier, she was basically a walking armory. She had no need to draw her weapons. Unlike the rest of the group, she relied on small knives and throwing stars, which were much easier and quicker to draw on the run. However, figuring he might object if she didn't have at least something in her hands, she pulled her rope javelin from it's special pouch on her belt. She twirled it experimentally, testing the feel of the weighted end in her hands.

The corners of her eyes crinkled in a tiny smile. She had many weapons in her arsenal, but this was by far her favorite. The chain was enchanted to absorb any magical energy her prey might try to cast once it was wrapped around them, no matter how small the area of their body it touched, be it an ankle, wrist, or waist. The weight on the end of the chain was a weapon in itself; with a direct hit to the temple with it, she could kill a person.

"I think I will just rely in my natural abilities," Lyssand murmured, preparing to run. He wouldn't fool himself into thinking that he would be able to weild any of the weapons they might have with them effectively. Better that he just run and catch up any laggers.

"I have no need of two-leg weapons either," Naor said, exhaling roughly. A jet of flames a foot long shot from her mouth before she extinguished them. She saw Asa frowning at her from the edge of her vision. "What? I'm a dragon, is it so surprising that this charm that changed my appearance couldn't completely mask my natural talents?" she asked.

"Actually it is. I noticed you had flames flickering in your throat earlier, but I thought I was imagining them," Asa said, shrugging. He was actually happy that Naor would be able to rely on the weapons she knew best for this fight. There was less chance of her being injured from inexperience that way. He unsheathed his sword once more, staring pensively at the blue metal. "I really need to get a name for this thing," he said musingly, rubbing a smudge of dirt off of the cold steel.

He looked up just in time for the barrier to disintegrate, and then all was chaos. He took off with the others, not missing a beat. Naor was by his side the whole time.

Rath glanced around to make sure everyone was following. He nodded to himself when he saw everyone was where they belonged. Alright, we can keep up a pace like this for a while, I think. Once we put a few miles between us and them, we an slow, but not much. We need to get to Glan'nari, and fast. I would say we can all just teleport there, but not without exhausting Ka and myself. Not only that, but there are ways to track teleports, if they are a certain distance, so, to stay safe, better to avoid teleporting too far. he said.

OOC:
I believe...this shall be my last post. =w= Rathon is banging on my ears to start the other threads so...XD And he wants to start the next thread arriving at Glan'nari.

Post Re: Dedarath
OOC: Impatience much, dear boy? :-P No worries, we can start now. :)

Naor nodded briefly, concentrating on running and making sure that Asa was safe. She saw his blue blade flash briefly and she glanced over. He had taken a reflexive swing at a Malkori that had come a little to close to the path he was running, but stopped himself before he drew blood and unwanted attention. Instead he swerved to the left and went away from the creature, coming up between Ka and Naor.

If it can be tracked, I say we run the whole way and forget about teleporting at all. It's too risky. If the people in Glan'nari are free of your uncle's corruption, and they did manage to track your teleportation there, it would only draw unwanted attention onto those innocent people. But that is only my opinion, it is up to you to decide, he said, glancing at Jia and then back at Ka. He knew how painful what he was proposing would be for her, and he knew what he would do if it were Naor in her position. He would not object if Ka rejected his idea and teleported them all to relative safety the first chance he got.

Darian looked at the Rider running in front of her and frowned. He had said exactly what she had been thinking. All of her training was telling her to ere on the side of caution and resist using teleportation to reach her destination, but the empathic side of her (despite her efforts to restrain it) was hoping that Ka would give in to his Rider's nature and save his dragon the pain of such a journey. It made her own heart hurt to think of such a rare and majestic creature in pain, and she was all for anything that would alleviate it for Jia.

I agree, but I also believe it is up to you Reapers to decide, she said to the brothers.

OOC: Guess that makes this the last post... If we're starting with arriving at Glan'nari, then I'm just going to assume they did end up teleporting. :)
