Post Re: Black Magician Trilogy
Yes I'm a recent fan to the series, my girlfriend got me a(n almost) complete set of Trudi Canavan's stuff.

It's definitely worth the read Fallen Elf, it's about a young girl who joins a college for Magi but it's such a shock because for the last couple of generations only the rich have been allowed into the college and they stopped testing the poorer members of society altogether. The college has different schools within it. Three if I'm correct. Green=Healers, Red=Warriors, Blue=Arcane. The books follow a young girl, Sonea, as she tries to become a Green Mage to help the lower class of the city

Book one mostly follows her progressing through the ranks as she tries to avoid the snobbier children of lords and dukes and other such nobles.

Book two is after she discovers a secret that could destroy the colleges reputation she is basically being held captive within it's bounds and is once again (unfairly) outcast as she is forced away from the other mages

Book three, well it's hard to say anything without spoilers so I'll just go with this. MIND + THE HIGH LORD = BLOWN

After reading them I devoured her other series the age of five, but this was definitely my favourite of the two.
